Volume 106: Akka 1868–1892 year unknown, Part IV (4 of 4)
BH09905: Blessed is the soul that hath been touched…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great!
Blessed is the soul that hath been touched by tribulation and adversity in the path of God, the Lord of all names. Verily such a one is among the most exalted of all creation in the Preserved Tablet. The one who hath drunk the choice wine of divine knowledge is not saddened by the hardships of the world—to this doth My Most Exalted Pen bear witness, yet most of the people are heedless. The first fragrance that hath wafted from the garment of the Beloved is upon the one who showed patience in the days of God and was not held back by the hints of the oppressors. Know thou the worth of these days, then give thanks to thy Lord for having sent down unto thee that from which thou dost inhale the sweet-scented breezes of the revelation of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Thus hath spoken He Who caused all things to speak forth His wondrous remembrance.
BH09981: A Book sent down by the All-Merciful for those…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the All-Glorious.
A Book sent down by the All-Merciful for those who have believed in God, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting, that the attraction of the Divine Utterance may draw them unto the Kingdom of true knowledge, and bring them nigh unto a station wherein they hear the call of all created things: “Verily, there is no God but Me, the Almighty, the All-Loving.”
The promise hath come, and He Who was promised hath been made manifest, yet the people understand not. They have cast behind their backs the Book of God, and have followed every satan that hath turned away from the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.
Say: O people! Go forth upon the horizon of silence with a word whereby the whole realm of being may be attracted. Thus doth the All-Merciful command you—He Who hath been imprisoned in this Prison by reason of that which [men’s hands] have wrought.
BH09989: The Book speaks with the tongue of revelation at…
In the Name of Him Who is the Guardian over all possibilities
The Book speaks with the tongue of revelation at this Most Great Scene—this station round which circle the Concourse on High and the dwellers of the cities of eternity and the inhabitants of the Most Exalted Kingdom, that men might read and be thankful. How many a servant has reached the ocean yet known it not, and how many a servant has drunk in My Name, the Guardian, the Self-Subsisting. O thou who hast turned towards Me, hearken unto the call of Him Who is wronged. He calls thee that His call might draw thee to the Most Exalted Horizon and make thee steadfast in this Cause through which the Promised One hath come with manifest sovereignty. Thus doth the Pen move when the Ancient King speaketh from His exalted station.
BH10034: We make mention, at the end of this letter…
We make mention, at the end of this letter, of the loved ones of God whose names were not mentioned before the Face, that they may be assured through the grace of their Lord, the Kind, the Forgiving. And We make mention of My handmaidens in that place who heard the Call and turned to the Most Exalted Horizon and held fast to the cord of steadfastness in this Cause whereby hearts and minds were sorely troubled. And from this hallowed and praiseworthy Spot We pronounce Our benediction upon My male and female servants. O handmaidens of God! When ye inhale the fragrance of My utterance, render thanks unto God Who hath come with the truth for the life of the world and hath sent down whatsoever He desired for His male and female servants at eventide and at dawn. The glory of God rest upon them, both men and women, from God, the Lord of existence.
BH10293: Glorified art Thou, O my God and my Beloved!…
He is the One Who gazeth from His Most Great Prison.
Glorified art Thou, O my God and my Beloved! This is one of Thy handmaidens who hath held fast to the cord of Thy loving-kindness and responded when Thy call was raised between Thy heaven and Thy earth, and turned toward Thy horizon when the divines of Thy lands and the theologians of Thy countries turned away from it. I beseech Thee, by the rain-showers of the heaven of Thy mercy and by the outpourings of Thy days, to aid her to remain steadfast in Thy love and to ordain for her that which shall bring comfort to her eyes and tranquility to her heart. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth. There is none other God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Generous.
BH10479: In My Name that overshadoweth all names
In My Name that overshadoweth all names
O Ghulam! Upon thee be the Glory of God, the Almighty, the All-Knowing! Thou hast attained unto that which was revealed in the Books of God. Thou didst attain His presence and didst hear, and wert among those who stood before the gate which was opened unto all who are in the heavens and on earth. We have turned toward thee from the precincts of the Prison, and have made mention of thee in such wise as to diffuse the fragrance of the All-Merciful throughout all creation. Verily thy Lord is the Compassionate, the Bountiful. Glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee, from One Who is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
BH10249: Seize the chalice of utterance from the hands…
He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
Seize the chalice of utterance from the hands of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, then drink thereof before the followers of all religions. Thus doth the Dawning-Place of the verses of God, the Lord of the Day of Resurrection, command thee. In this day the Sun of Truth, from the horizon of the prison of ʿAkka, speaketh this most sublime Word: I say in truth, the blessed word “but He is the Apostle of God and the Seal of the Prophets” found its consummation in “the Day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds.” This is the Most Great Glad-Tidings for the Concourse on High and the companions of the Crimson Ark and for whosoever is in the heavens and the earth.
BH10238: God is Most Glorious
God is Most Glorious
Ha, Sin. Upon you be My glory. The hand of oppression has intended to veil the lights of the Sun of Justice and prevent the light of the Cause from reaching eyes. By the life of God, this is beyond the station of anyone on earth. The friends of God are imprisoned without any crime. We belong to God and to Him we shall return. The fire of hatred was ignited but God extinguished it through His power. Verily He has power over all things. The glory shining forth from the horizon of your Lord’s favor be upon you and upon them and upon every patient, steadfast and upright one.
BH10219: This Bird of the Eternal Rose-Garden makes mention…
He is the Beloved One!
This Bird of the Eternal Rose-Garden makes mention of the fruit of the Divine Tree. God willing, through the outpourings of the All-Merciful and the favors of the Lord, may you be adorned and embellished with the robe of health. If you inquire about the condition of this Bird, it is imprisoned and afflicted in the cage of tyranny. However, since this has come to pass in the path of God, it has been and shall ever be beloved. We beseech the Exalted Truth to preserve at all times that leaf of the Tree of the All-Merciful from the evil of the envious and the oppressors, to gladden it with the remembrance of the Beloved of the worlds, and to vouchsafe unto it the bounty of reunion.
BH10420: O My Afnan! The Tongue of Grandeur hath testified…
He is the One Who warbles upon the branches!
O My Afnan! The Tongue of Grandeur hath testified that there is none other God but Him. His is the dominion of earth and heaven. He doeth what He willeth through a sovereignty that cannot be withstood by all the hosts of the world. He is, verily, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. We bear witness that thou hast turned toward the Most Sublime Horizon and entered the Prison, and attained the presence of the Wronged One in this exalted Station. We have accepted thy turning and thy presence before the Throne. He, verily, is the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth through His word “Be” and it is. Rejoice thou in My remembrance and in that which hath been revealed from the Most Exalted Pen. Thy Lord is, in truth, the All-Forgiving, the All-Kindly.
BH11684: O Mihdi! Convey from this Prisoner the most great…
…O Mihdi! Convey from this Prisoner the most great greetings unto him, and say: O servant! Blessed art thou, inasmuch as thy tongue hath been loosed to the praise of God, thy Lord, and thy lips unsealed to extol thy Ancient Master. Chant thou upon the boughs of the Lote-Tree of thy Lord’s love in whatsoever manner thou desirest. Verily, He shall aid thee, and shall cause the springs of utterance to gush forth from thy heart. He, in truth, is powerful over all things. Render thanks unto thy Lord in all thy days, in that He hath enabled thee in that which hath appeared from thee, and hath delivered thee from the company of the polytheists. Blessed art thou, and thy father, and thy uncle, and those men and women who were with you among His sincere servants….
BH10448: O thou wise one imbued with divine wisdom! God…
O thou wise one imbued with divine wisdom! God is the Protector of His servants and the Light unto all who dwell in the lands. We have ever enjoined upon all to act with wisdom and utterance and with all that these require. From the earliest days until now, this Wronged One’s purpose hath been that the religion of God should not become a cause of hatred, and that all should act with and associate with those on earth in a spirit of fragrance and delight, save those souls from whom the odor of malice is diffused—in such case, avoidance is necessary….
BH10510: O Munirih! He verily fulfilleth what hath been promised…
O Munirih! He verily fulfilleth what hath been promised in the Book. Let nothing sadden thee. She verily ascended to God and returned to Him just as she had appeared from Him. She hath returned, rested, rejoiced and is overjoyed. Verily, thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
Upon thee and upon thy mother and thy sister be the glory of God and His mercy and His favors and His grace. We send Our greetings upon their countenances and upon those who were with them in those days and who served and made mention of God. He is verily the Compassionate, the Generous. Thus hath the grace of God encompassed thee and them. He is verily the Mighty, the All-Praised.
BH11671: I make mention of those immersed in the ocean…
I make mention of those immersed in the ocean of detachment, whom neither the calumnies of the world nor the wealth and might of nations could deter from turning to the Most Exalted Horizon. With firm and steadfast certainty they have arisen for the reformation of souls and the refinement of humanity. Ephemeral colors and worthless ornaments have not kept them from remembrance and praise…
Haji Muhammad Karim Khan each year composed and wrote a book refuting the people of truth, and Sipihr in his history wrote concerning the Primal Point, may the spirit of all else be sacrificed for Him, that which caused all things to cry out in anguish. I beseech God to grant justice and fairness, for verily He has power over all things. Glory and praise and honor be upon you and upon God’s loved ones there…
BH10221: The fire of separation, after the comfort…
He is the Almighty.
The fire of separation, after the comfort of the days of union and communion, has burned the soul and melted the heart. The heart is with you—ask it about the state of affairs. We hope through God’s grace that He will soon grant nearness and reunion. We long to see and yearn to speak with the Spirit of Life, Diya’u’r-Rahman, that we may hear sweet words from those sugar-sweet lips in Samarkand. We remember Badi’u’llah with our tongue, seek him with our heart, and yearn for him with our soul. May my soul be sacrificed for thy nearness and thy words, O Badi’!
BH10482: O Pen of Command! Make mention of him who…
O Pen of Command! Make mention of him who hath been named ʿAbdu’l-Asad, that he may rejoice in the days of his Lord and perceive the fragrance of the garment from this wondrous utterance. Verily the Bayan proclaimeth “The Desired One is come!” and the Furqan beareth witness to that which God hath testified in the Books of old. Yet the people remain in manifest remoteness. They behold the sun, yet deny it—nay, they are of the wrongdoers. They have wronged their own selves in the days of God and wronged those who hastened unto the Most Great Ocean when they discovered the fragrance of God, the Mighty, the All-Wise. Blessed is he who hath turned unto Him, and woe unto the heedless ones.
BH10492: O Thou through Whose Name the world hath been…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
O Thou through Whose Name the world hath been honored! I beseech Thee by the Most Great Name to send down from the heaven of Thy loving-kindness upon him who hath turned to Thee in the early days of Thy Cause a blessing from Thy presence. O my Lord! He is among those who attained Thy presence aforetime and recognized that which was uttered in Thy perspicuous Book. O my Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Exalted Self to ordain for him every good thing that existed in Thy knowledge, then inscribe for him through Thy bounty and grace that which shall gladden his eyes. Verily Thou art the Generous Giver. There is none other God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH10466: O ʿAbdu’l-Ahad! We counsel thee and those who have…
O ʿAbdu’l-Ahad! We counsel thee and those who have believed to that whereby the Cause of God, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing, may be exalted. Say: O people of the earth! Sully not the chalice of divine knowledge. Fear ye the All-Merciful, then act according to what He hath revealed in the Book. Beware lest the ornaments of earth withhold you from Him Who is the Lord of the Cause, Who hath come from the dawning-place of the Spirit with power and sovereignty. O people of Baha! Turn ye with all your being unto God and arise to serve the Cause with such strength of heart and resolve as to shake the mountains. Thus hath the finger of certitude rent asunder the veils of idle fancy.
BH10178: O Ali! If you desire to enter the gathering…
He is the Most Exalted
O Ali! If you desire to enter the gathering of the mystics, purify yourself from all that souls detest. And if you wish to deliver yourself from evil ones and from all harm, leave the world to its people and never draw near to it. And if you desire to associate with the great and mighty ones, adorn yourself with knowledge and wisdom and with the refinements they possess. And if you wish to enter the pavilion of grandeur at the dawning of the lights of My beauty, detach yourself from all else save Me and from all who are in the heavens and on earth.
BH10186: No God is there but Him, the Help-in-Peril…
No God is there but Him, the Help-in-Peril, the Self-Subsisting
In the Name of God, the Glorious, the Most Glorious
We have named thee Trustee of the Bayan amidst the concourse of all worlds, that thou mayest glory in the favors of thy Lord, the All-Merciful. Verily thy Lord is the All-Wise. O Trustee! Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! Praise be unto Thee for having guided me to the horizon of Thy Cause after Thy servants were barred therefrom, and for having admitted me into the pavilion of Thy nearness and honored me with Thy presence after the forces of the heedless had seized the prison gate. O my Lord! Aid me to serve Thee throughout my remaining days. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the All-Knowing.
BH10485: O Muhammad-Qabl-i-Ja’far! The Lord of mankind makes mention…
O Muhammad-Qabl-i-Ja’far! The Lord of mankind makes mention of thee from the Most Great Prison and commands thee to that whereby the Cause of God, the Lord of all worlds, will be exalted. Act ye in such wise as will cause your mention to endure in the Book which none toucheth save such as are steadfast and firm. Let not the affairs of the world sadden thee. Rejoice thou in this remembrance than which nothing that hath been created in the heavens or on earth can equal. Thus have I been bidden by God, the Ordainer, the Ancient of Days. Blessed is he who hath read My verses and acted in accordance with that which hath been sent down from My mighty, My wise Pen.
BH10350: Your letter hath been read before the Throne…
Your letter hath been read before the Throne, and We have accepted what thou didst intend for the sake of God, the Lord of the worlds. Rejoice thou in that My Most Exalted Pen hath answered thee. It behooveth thee to soar on the wings of longing and to render thanks unto thy Lord, the Bestower, the Bountiful, the All-Forgiving, the All-Generous. Thy Book hath attained unto acceptance, and We bid thee to act in accordance with what thou possessest, as ordained by One Who is All-Knowing, All-Wise.
BH10270: Glorified be He Who speaketh the truth and summoneth…
He is the Expositor, the All-Knowing!
Glorified be He Who speaketh the truth and summoneth all unto His Self, the One Who hath dominion over the worlds. Your letter hath come before the Throne, and We have sent down verses for you both that ye may rejoice and be numbered among the thankful. Give praise unto your Lord, the All-Merciful, for having aided you to believe in Him when most of the servants turned away. Thus doth the Most Exalted Pen speak forth from this sublime station. The Wronged One hath heard your call and hath answered you through His grace. Verily, He is the Most High, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Hold fast unto the cord of God and cling ye unto His Book which hath been sent down from the heaven of the will of your Lord, the All-Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
BH10206: O beloved! Upon thee be My glory and My…
He is the Mighty
O beloved! Upon thee be My glory and My heavenly lights. This Wronged One hath fulfilled His promise, that perchance the faithful might appear on earth and walk among creation with the Most Great Trust. Be thou grateful to God—exalted be His dominion—that He made thee the cause of the revelation of this blessed Word, and caused the ocean of meanings to flow from the fountainhead of these words by thy name. God willing, thou shalt abide secure, safe and at rest beneath the shadow of the true Sovereign. Glory be upon thee and upon thy father and mother from the presence of the Mighty, the Generous.
BH10450: O lady, upon thee be my glory! Let Munirih…
He is God, exalted is He!
O lady, upon thee be my glory! Let Munirih remain until her eye recovers its health. Movement would be harmful. God willing, healing will be granted. Convey my greetings. The wrongs of Haifa have exceeded its good deeds. The command is in God’s hands—He doeth and decreeth whatsoever He willeth, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. However, if some were to come it would be closer to wisdom, for in that land during this season there are many eye ailments. In any case, they should move with wisdom and prudence. No specific command hath been issued in this regard. We send greetings to all the friends. Peace be upon you and upon him who was named ʿAli-Rida.
BH10434: O thou who art mentioned in My most exalted…
He is the Most Glorious, the Most Splendid!
O thou who art mentioned in My most exalted horizon! Hearken unto My most sweet call. It behooveth thee to assist today the Cause of God, thy Lord, through such steadfastness as will make firm thereby the feet of all mankind upon His Most Great Path. Having quaffed the choice wine of My utterance from the chalice of My bounty, say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Exalted Word, through which all things were attracted, to illumine the heart of the sovereign with the light of Thy knowledge and to aid him to manifest Thy justice amongst Thy servants. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful, the All-Bountiful.
BH10189: We make mention of him who was named Abu’l-Qasim…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great!
We make mention of him who was named Abu’l-Qasim with this remembrance whereby the birds warbled upon the branches. Hearken unto that whereunto the Wronged One calleth thee. Verily, there is none other God beside Him, the Mighty, the Bestower. Blessed is he who hath inhaled the fragrance of the days of God and held fast unto that which hath been sent down from Him in the Scriptures and Tablets. Grieve not over the world and what appeareth therein. Rather, rejoice in that God hath aided thee to recognize Him and hath sent down for thee from the heaven of grace that which the contingent world cannot equal.
BH10261: A remembrance from Us unto him who hath believed…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
A remembrance from Us unto him who hath believed in God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting, and hath testified to that whereunto God did testify in the eternity of eternities that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved. Verily, We make mention of them that are in creation and We desire from him who hath followed God’s command and hath turned with his heart unto this praiseworthy station. Blessed is he who hath attained unto that which the All-Merciful hath sent down in the Qur’an and hath held fast unto the cord of his Lord’s loving-kindness, the Mighty, the All-Loving. Thus hath the matter been decreed by the Most Exalted Pen from the presence of God, the Lord of the seen and the unseen.
BH10475: O ʿAyn! The Eye of God which slumbers not…
O ʿAyn! The Eye of God which slumbers not hath turned unto thee—He heareth and seeth, and He is the Truth, the Knower of the unseen. Behold the grace and mercy of God—verily they have encompassed the sincere ones. Thy Lord, the All-Merciful, is indeed the Mighty, the Loving. When the Truth came, the people turned away from it save those who clung to the cord of their Lord, Who hath dominion over what was and what shall be. They who turned away have no portion in the Book. Leave them to their vain disputations and idle play until they meet that Day wherein their eyes shall be downcast, overwhelming them with abasement—that Day which they were promised.
BH10155: My God, my God! The thirst of my heart…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer!
My God, my God! The thirst of my heart has consumed me—where is the river of Thy mercy, O God of the worlds? Thy decree and destiny have removed me far—where is the light of Thy nearness, O Goal of them that know Thee? The fire of my heedlessness has burned me—where is the fountain of Thy grace, O Beloved of those in the heavens and earth? The hosts of vain imaginings have weakened me—where is the dawning of the Sun of Thy knowledge, O Worshipped One of the sincere? My God, my God! Ordain for me what Thou hast ordained for the countenances of Thy most exalted Paradise and the supreme Heaven. Verily Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Merciful, the Most Generous. There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH10346: We have indeed heard thy call, and aforetime did…
We have indeed heard thy call, and aforetime did We cause thee to hearken unto My own summons—for I am in truth the All-Hearing.
We have beheld thee, and have disclosed unto thee My scene of glory—for I am verily the All-Seeing. The ear of the Well-Beloved hath heard that which ascended from thee in His love, the All-Glorious, the Inaccessible.
This is a Book that speaketh the truth; it is indeed the Envoy, the Faithful, announcing unto thee and bearing to thee the glad-tidings of the bounties of thy Lord. Rejoice, then, and say: “Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of all worlds!”
Thus have We adorned the horizon of thy book with the mention of My Name—that Name through which the horizon of utterance was made to dawn, and wherewith all that are in the heavens and on the earth were illumined.
BH10447: O Husayn, He Who is remembered remembereth thee…
O Husayn, He Who is remembered remembereth thee from this Spot which God hath made the circling-point of the denizens of the all-highest Paradise and the dawning-place of revelation—but the people, they know not. Take hold of the Book of God with the power that proceedeth from Him, then advance with supreme steadfastness toward the most exalted Horizon, then act according to that which thou hast been commanded by the Wronged One. By the life of God! From the traces of My Pen hath been wafted the fragrance of the All-Merciful. Blessed is he who hath found it and hath exclaimed:
“Thine be the praise, O Lord of the Kingdom of eternity, and Thine be the glory, O Thou the Desire of the worlds!”
BH10190: Verily We make mention of him who hath been…
Verily We make mention of him who hath been named Mahmud and give him glad tidings of the signs of God, the Lord of the invisible and the visible. O Mahmud! The All-Loving maketh mention of thee from His glorious station. Rejoice thou and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of existence! The seal of the Wine of immortality hath been broken, and from it hath wafted the fragrance of the raiment of Baha, yet most of the people understand not. We have adorned the world with the ornament of My Most Great Name, yet the nations hasten in the wilderness of heedlessness. They behold the proof of God yet deny it, and witness His clear tokens yet turn away from them.
BH10499: O my Leaf and Mother of Afnan! Upon thee…
He is the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing
O my Leaf and Mother of Afnan! Upon thee be My glory and My mercy which has preceded all who are in the heavens and earths. Praise thou the Beloved of the world, that manifest stars from thee circle round the Sun and are engaged in service. Know thou this bounty to be great, and be thou vocal in thanksgiving to the Beloved of the worlds. Verily He is with His Afnan, and soon shall their stations be made manifest in the realm, despite those who have disbelieved in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. And glory be upon thee.
BH10266: Glorified be He Who hath sent forth the Messengers…
He is the Most High, the All-Knowing, the All-Encompassing!
Glorified be He Who hath sent forth the Messengers as a testimony that there is none other God but Him, the Sovereign, the Self-Subsisting! Blessed is he who hath discovered the fragrances of revelation in the days of his Lord and hath quaffed His sealed wine. We have heard thy call and beheld thy turning unto the Wronged One, and have remembered thee with this remembrance whereby hearts have taken flight. The glory be upon thee and upon those who have cast away idle fancies at God’s bidding and have turned with supreme steadfastness toward His manifest horizon. We inscribe for whomsoever We desire the reward of attaining His presence. Verily thy Lord is He Who ordaineth what He pleaseth. He, verily, is the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.
BH10500: O my leaf and my handmaiden! The lamentation…
He is the Protector of all who are in earth and heaven!
O my leaf and my handmaiden! The lamentation of your heart has influenced the regions and your wailing has saddened the dwellers of the pavilions. In all matters fix your gaze upon God and place your trust in Him. He is your Master and your Sovereign. Ask Him to ordain that which is beneficial for you and to make your days blessed. Verily He has power over all things and is worthy to answer prayer.
BH10146: Praise be to God, Who revealed Himself through…
He is the All-Sufficing.
Praise be to God, Who revealed Himself through a single letter of the letters of the glory of the divine oneness in the world of everlasting being, when the temples of the Cause appeared in the Concourse on high; then He spoke the most exalted Word in the kingdom of the cloud-realm, when the Bayan was made manifest among all created things, and made it His proof unto all who are in the heavens and on the earth, that haply the people may not deny the proof of God, nor mock at His evidence.
Further elaboration is not permissible, since the matter is not known; therefore brevity was adopted.
BH10150: O my God! O my God! I am Thy…
He is the Dawning Place from the horizon of the Kingdom!
O my God! O my God! I am Thy handmaiden who hath turned unto Thee and heard Thy most sweet call as it was raised betwixt earth and heaven, and who hath drunk the choice wine of Thy love from the hands of Thy bounty and the Salsabil of Thy knowledge from the Pen of Thy Command. I beseech Thee, O Thou the Desire of the world and the Beloved of the nations, by the Most Great Name, that Thou protect me from the fire of hatred which hath been kindled in the hearts of the people of the Bayan. Then write down for us, through Thy grace and favor, that which Thou hast written for Thy chosen ones and Thy loved ones. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH10169: The Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Great
The Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Great.
God makes mention of one of His handmaidens, that she may be seized by the rapture of the verses and drawn nigh unto God, the Manifestor of clear proofs. O My handmaidens! Hold fast to the hem of God’s mercy, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. We have made mention of every handmaiden who has turned to the Face, and We shall make mention of those who have turned to the Face, even as We mentioned them before. He, verily, is the All-Bountiful, the Forgiving, the Generous. We counsel Our handmaidens to observe the most great sanctity from this most great and luminous Horizon. Work ye according to what ye have been commanded in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds. Know ye the value of these days and glorify His Name, the Mighty, the Powerful.
BH10185: We have revealed the Cause and sent down…
He is the One with power over what He wills!
We have revealed the Cause and sent down the verses and called all unto God, the All-Possessing, the Self-Subsisting. Among the people are those who cling to their vain desires, turning away from God, the Lord of all beings, and among them are those who cast away what they possessed and took what was commanded unto them from God, the Master of existence. We have made mention of them that have believed, and We make mention of them in such wise that their names shall endure throughout the kingdom of earth and heaven. Thus hath the Tongue of Grandeur spoken whilst in the midst of those who were heedless of God, the Master of existence. Glory be upon the people of Baha who have drunk, in My Name, the Sealed Wine.
BH10412: O My loved ones! Be not grieved by what…
O My loved ones! Be not grieved by what ye witness this day. Soon shall the dominion of the oppressors and the proud ones pass away, and the might of the rebellious and the tyrannical ones shall vanish like unto those who have gone before. We have clear vision. Verily, he who turneth away and opposeth is like unto deceptive lightning, or like unto an empty cloud, or like unto a towering mirage. And among the greatest of calamities is when the oppressor layeth claim to justice, and the liar to truthfulness, and the ignorant one to knowledge. Yea, with the beautiful is found the ugly, with the worthless the precious, with the righteous the wicked, and with the learned the ignorant. Thus hath wisdom required, and thus hath the All-Merciful willed, and thus hath the Divine Will ordained.
BH10431: O My handmaiden! Say: Glory be to Thee, O…
He is the One Who speaks, the Expositor, the All-Knowing
O My handmaiden! Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God, O Thou by Whose name the gate of heaven was opened, and by the motion of Whose finger the veils of them that dwell on earth were rent asunder! I beseech Thee by the Most Exalted Horizon, the Station from which the Sun of Thy beauty hath shone forth, to strengthen me under all conditions to make mention of Thee and to praise Thee. O Lord! Thou seest Thy handmaiden turning unto Thee, gazing toward Thee, and seeking the ocean of Thy bounty and the sun of Thy grace. I beseech Thee not to disappoint her in that which she desireth from the wonders of Thy bounty and favor. Verily, Thou art the Most Exalted, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH10706: O Abbas! His honor Haydar-ʿAli mentioned you…
O Abbas! His honor Haydar-ʿAli mentioned you, and the Sun of the favor of God—glorified be His majesty—turned toward you from the horizon of the prison, that perchance its effulgences might endow those who are dejected with the warmth of divine love. He is the One Whose power the might of the world could not prevent nor render weak. He appeared and with perfect steadfastness called out before the faces of all peoples, commanded all to that which God hath willed, and gave them the glad-tidings of the waves of the ocean of His grace.
BH10687: O thou who hast turned thy face towards My…
He is the Ever-Present, the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing
O thou who hast turned thy face towards My countenance and drunk the choice wine of revelation from the cup of Mine utterance! Hear My call from the precincts of My prison. There is none other God but Him, the Single One, the All-Informed. Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God, and glory be unto Thee, O my Heart’s Desire! Thou seest me turning towards the horizon of Thy Manifestation. I beseech Thee, by the lights of Thy countenance and the mysteries of Thy Book, to aid me to arise for the triumph of Thy Cause. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and within Thy grasp are the reins of all who are in the heavens and on earth.
BH10692: O My daughter, leaf of My Lote-Tree! I bear…
O My daughter, leaf of My Lote-Tree! I bear witness that thou hast gone forth in exile with the Wronged One, until thou didst arrive at the Most Great Prison—that spot wherein the Lord of the world and the Most Great Name hath been held in captivity.
O my God, my God! I beseech Thee by the light of Thy Face, by the surging waves of the ocean of Thy bounty, and by the effulgent rays of the sun of Thy grace and generosity, to ordain for her, beneath the shadow of Thy protection and in the shelter of Thy presence, that which shall rejoice her eyes and gladden her heart. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the Omnipotent.
BH11904: No praise of created things can reach Him…
No praise of created things can reach Him, and no gratitude of contingent beings can find access to His holy court. The Incomparable One cannot be known through what is comparable, and understanding falls short of His description. The people of knowledge and insight confess their impotence….
…speech, sight, knowledge, understanding, signs or fruits—all that has come into being through His Word is unworthy to approach His threshold and ever shall be. Yet since praise and glorification have been bestowed from the Source of His Command, the Lord of Names, we therefore hold fast to the cord of remembrance and cling to the hem of praise…
BH10721: O Muhsin! He Who hath caused every possessor…
O Muhsin! He Who hath caused every possessor of grace to bow down before Him remembereth thee. Wondrous is he who performeth that which is commanded him by God. Verily He is the Beneficent One in My mighty Book. Blessed is he who hath hearkened unto the Call and responded to his Lord on a Day whereon all things spoke forth that which the Most Exalted Pen spoke when the Ancient Beauty was established upon the throne of His Name, the Mighty. Thus have We manifested the pearls of knowledge from the ocean of the bounty of your Lord, the Almighty, the Strong, the Powerful.
BH10718: O Pen of the Most High! Make mention…
O Pen of the Most High! Make mention of the Pasha whom this servant in attendance hath mentioned. Verily, thou art the compassionate, generous rememberer. Prevent no one from the ocean of My loving-kindness, and turn not away anyone who has turned to thy luminous countenance. Make mention of all who have turned towards God with beauteous remembrance. Thus have We commanded thee before and after. Verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the Powerful. Blessed art thou for having heard and responded, and woe unto the deniers.
BH10696: O Hasan! The Wronged One remembers you as He…
O Hasan! The Wronged One remembers you as He sits upon the throne of command by the leave of God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. He has come with the truth to adorn the world with mercy and tranquility, but most of the people do not understand. They have clung to vain imaginings, turning away from the Sun of Certainty. Thus have their souls deluded them, and they do not see. Say: O concourse of the heedless! I swear by God! The promised day is come, the day when tormenting trials will have surged above your heads, and beneath your feet, saying: “Taste ye what your hands have wrought!”
BH10518: I beseech Thee, O my God, Lord of Names…
He is the Guide, the All-Sufficient, the Helper, the Forgiving, the Generous
I beseech Thee, O my God, Lord of Names and Creator of heaven, by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued all things, to protect Thy male and female servants who have turned unto Thee from the schemes of every schemer, the oppression of every oppressor, and the fire of every idolater. Then ordain for them from Thy Most Exalted Pen that which will draw them nigh unto Thee in every world of Thy worlds. Verily, Thou art the Almighty Whom the contingencies of creation cannot frustrate. Thou art, in truth, the Strong, the Powerful. And praise be to God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH10533: Verily God hath ordained for every matter an appointed…
In the name of God, the Mighty, the Bestower.
Verily God hath ordained for every matter an appointed time. When the promise cometh, that which hath been decreed in the kingdom of destiny shall be sent down to the people of creation. With Him is the knowledge of all things in a Preserved Tablet. He shall fully recompense those who call upon Him morning and evening, at every daybreak and nightfall. There is no guardian except Him. His is the creation and the command. He doeth whatsoever He willeth through His word, and ordaineth what He desireth through His binding decree.
BH10626: The Wronged One has turned His face toward him…
He is the Glorious, the Most Glorious
The Wronged One has turned His face toward him whom God has related unto Him, that He might give thanks and say: Praise be unto Thee and thanksgiving be unto Thee, O Thou Who didst raise me up through Thy command and didst guide me through Thy bounty! I beseech Thee not to deprive me of whatsoever Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. The Glory shining forth from the Divine Lote-Tree be upon its branches and upon all who are firm and steadfast.
BH10571: A remembrance from Our presence unto him who hath…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Perspicuous, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise!
A remembrance from Our presence unto him who hath been named ʿAbdu’l-Ahad, that he may rejoice and be of them that are steadfast. Then know thou that thy call hath won My hearing in My Most Great Prison, when sorrows had encompassed Me through that which the hands of such as We commanded to fear God had wrought, yet they were of them that slumber. Verily they who have attained on this day are assuredly among the dwellers of Paradise in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds. Give thanks that thy letter hath been presented and there hath been sent down for thee that which shall gladden the eyes of the worlds.
BH10709: O Abdullah! The breezes of this Day are wafting…
O Abdullah! The breezes of this Day are wafting over thee. Be thou aware and be not of the heedless ones. This is the Day for which the loved ones of God and His chosen ones in former ages have mourned in their separation from it. To this testifieth every fair-minded and seeing one. Cast aside what thou hast of idle fancies and take fast hold of the hem of thy Lord, the Lord of all mankind. He, verily, will suffice thee in truth. Thy Lord is, in truth, the All-Powerful, the Almighty. Be thou steadfast in the Cause and speak forth in remembrance of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
BH10729: O Muhammad! The Day of praise and thanksgiving has…
O Muhammad! The Day of praise and thanksgiving has come, wherein the Concourse on High rejoices, yet most of the people are as dead. Sleep has overtaken them in such wise that they remain heedless of the call of God, the Lord of the worlds. Blessed is he whose foot has not slipped from the Path, and blessed is the one possessed of vision who has turned towards the Most Great Horizon and has said:
“Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who art the Wronged One, the Lonely One, the Stranger.”
Thus have We adorned the heaven of utterance with the stars of knowledge. Blessed is he who has recognized and prostrated himself before the face of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
BH10543: We make mention of him who has been named…
We make mention of him who has been named Muhsin, that he may inhale the sweet fragrance of the utterance of the All-Merciful and be among those who are firmly established. How many a strong one has turned away from the Cause, and how many a weak one has hastened unto God—a command from Him. Verily He is the Helper of every one who turns toward Him and is steadfast. Blessed is he who has testified to that which God has testified, and woe unto every distant barking one who has heard and denied this bounty that has encompassed the heavens and the earth. Thus has the Pen spoken in the Most Great Prison, that every seeing hearer may rejoice.
BH10544: We make mention of him who was named Musa…
We make mention of him who was named Musa and We bid him to that which We have bidden those servants who have turned towards this glorious station. Behold and remember when the Interlocutor came with clear signs, every remote scholar turned away from Him. Then remember when the Spirit came with proof from His Lord, the divines opposed Him until they pronounced judgment against Him with such tyranny as caused every seeing mystic to lament. Be thou thankful unto God for having aided thee and made known unto thee that which was hidden from creation. Verily thy Lord is the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful.
BH10699: O Husayn! He Who was made a target…
O Husayn! He Who was made a target for the arrows of the enemies in the path of God, the Lord of the Day of Judgment, makes mention of thee. Mine eyes have witnessed what no eye among all creation hath witnessed, and Mine ears have heard what the ears of men in former ages have not heard. Thy Lord, the All-Informed, bears witness to this. Grieve thou not over anything. Remember thy Lord in the night season and in the days. Verily, this shall profit thee in every world among the worlds of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Peerless.
BH10627: The Wronged One has turned His face…
The Wronged One has turned His face from the prison towards him who was named Kazim, and We make mention of him with that which has diffused the fragrance of the All-Merciful throughout all creation. Exalted is this glorious and wondrous station! We have counseled all to be trustworthy, truthful and faithful, and to manifest those qualities through which the Cause of God was revealed in former ages. Blessed is he who hath heard and acted, and woe unto the heedless. Hold fast unto the Strong Cord and cling to the hem of thy Lord, the Merciful.
BH10675: Turn thy face, O Pen, unto him who hath…
Turn thy face, O Pen, unto him who hath been named Majid, then make mention of him through that which hath been sent down unto thee from the presence of Him Who causeth the dawn to break. Say: We counsel thee to fear God and to remember Him—a remembrance which hath preceded all remembrance. Beware lest the conditions of creation cause thee to slip. Leave them to themselves and place thy trust in Him through Whom feet have slipped. How many a learned one hath been debarred from the Known One, and how many an ignorant one hath attained to the knowledge of God on a day wherein eyes were dazzled.
BH10576: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…
He is the Manifest One, standing before the faces of the world
Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Beautiful Names Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Exalted Attributes Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great, Most Glorious Name, through which the ocean of bounty surged and the fragrance of eternity wafted, to assist Thy servant Rida in that which Thou lovest and approvest. He is the one who, O my God, hath taken shelter beneath the canopy of Thy glory, entered the prison by Thy command and departed by Thy leave. Ordain for him what Thou hast ordained for Thy sincere servants. Verily, Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful ones.
BH10524: O my God, my God! I testify that Thou…
In the Name of Him through Whom hath shone forth the Luminary of Divine Power!
O my God, my God! I testify that Thou hast sent down the Proof and made manifest the Way, and hast clarified for Thy servants that which was hidden throughout all eternity. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the End, by Thy Name, the Self-Sufficient, the Most High, to protect Thy servants and handmaidens from the mischief of the people of the Bayan who have denied the ocean of Thy grace after it surged before the faces of the world. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and by Thy Name doth move the Kingdom of Names. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Great.
BH10562: The purport is this: the tongue of the speaking…
He is the Mighty
The purport is this: the tongue of the speaking trees proclaimeth that the heat proceedeth from the fire, yet in this day it hath appeared from the Tree itself. Today the horizons of the hearts of the friends are illumined by the lights of the luminous Orb of Revelation and are set aflame by the ardor of Divine love. The light is shining forth, the fire is manifest, power is revealed, and might is resplendent. By the life of God! To rend the veils of names and to sunder them seemeth, in this sight, greater than the cleaving of the moon. I swear by the lights of His countenance: in this Revelation the cleaving of the sun is beheld, could ye but know it.
BH10584: Glorified art Thou, O my God and the God…
He is the Mighty!
Glorified art Thou, O my God and the God of all names! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued all things and whatsoever hath been created between earth and heaven, to send down upon this handmaiden of Thine from the kingdom of Thy power that which beseemeth Thy bounty and Thy grace. O Lord! Thou seest her clinging to the cord of Thy loving-kindness and holding fast to the hem of Thy generosity. Ordain for her every good recorded in Thy Book. Verily, Thou art the Ever-Forgiving, the Bountiful, the Generous. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Great.
BH10838: Blessed art thou for having been seized…
He is the Mighty, the Praiseworthy!
Blessed art thou for having been seized by the intoxication of the Kawthar of utterance in such wise that thou didst traverse the pathway of the world until thou didst enter My Most Great Prison and didst hear the call of the Wronged One concerning the Cause of God, the Lord of the worlds. We bear witness that thou didst visit the Most Great Scene and didst believe in God, the Lord of destiny, and didst drink the most pure wine from the hand of the bounty of thy Lord, the All-Informed. Thus have We made mention of thee that thou mayest rejoice and be of them that are thankful. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH10866: By the life of God! His honor Nabil, son…
He is God, exalted be His station!
By the life of God! His honor Nabil, son of Nabil, upon him be My glory and glory, has been and is in the Most Exalted Prison with the permission, leave and good-pleasure of this Wronged One. However, if his honor Afnan, upon him be My glory and loving-kindness, should send someone to that place for the conduct of affairs, so that the aforementioned gentleman might for a few days repair to these parts by way of recreation, this would be pleasing.

Rejoice thou that God has forgiven every name that has attained the presence of the Wronged One. He is verily the All-Bountiful, the Mighty, the Generous. O My loved ones in that land! Hearken unto My call from the direction of My prison, then read what has been sent down unto you from the Pen of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
BH10767: O Pen of Baha! Make mention of him who…
O Pen of Baha! Make mention of him who hath been named Abu’l-Qasim, that he may give thanks unto his Lord, the Compassionate, the Bountiful. He hath come with the truth and hath manifested what He desired. Through this the idol hath wailed and every remote scholar hath cried out. They denied the favor of God after its descent and disbelieved in the All-Merciful when He came with manifest sovereignty. They deviated from the truth, whereupon God caused their hearts to deviate, and God guideth not the people who are transgressors.
BH10918: O Javad! Nabil hath appeared before the Wronged One…

Take hold of the Book of God with the strength that comes from Him and follow not every ignorant one who has turned away from the Path. Thus have We remembered thee that thou mayest thank thy Lord and speak forth His praise throughout all lands.

Yet when the lights of the dawn of Revelation shone forth from the horizon of Will, all remained veiled therefrom while thou didst attain unto it. Therefore give thanks unto thy Lord for this manifest grace.

He is God, exalted be His station in Wisdom and Utterance
Praise be to God, the first day of the feast has come to an end with the blessed, right and upright deeds of His Majesty Sultan Abdul-Hamid, may God, blessed and exalted be He, strengthen him.
