Volume 106: Akka 1868–1892 year unknown, Part IV (3 of 4)
BH07975: O Muhammad-Qabli-ʿAli! Upon thee be the peace of God…
He is God, exalted be His station, the Pardoning, the Bountiful
O Muhammad-Qabli-ʿAli! Upon thee be the peace of God and His loving-kindness! Say: Praise be to Thee, O my God and the God of all names, O my Creator and the Creator of the heavens! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Exalted Word whereby Thou hast subdued the lands and the servants, and by the waves of the ocean of Thy generosity and bounty, and the lights of the sun of Thy loving-kindness and bestowals, to ordain for me that which shall profit me in all the worlds of Thy worlds. O Lord! I am Thy servant and the son of him who loved Thee and loveth Thee. I have turned toward Thy most exalted horizon, having heard Thy sweetest call. I beseech Thee to send down upon me from the clouds of Thy mercy that which befitteth Thy might and majesty and beseemeth Thy generosity and bestowals. Verily Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. I beseech Thee, O my God, to assist me in remembering Thee and to make me steadfast in Thy love. Verily Thou art the Powerful, the All-Conquering, the Almighty.
BH07747: It hath been revealed from the direction…
It hath been revealed from the direction of the Throne:
We have heard thy call and have shone upon thee from the horizon of this Great Prison. Give thanks unto God, thy Lord, inasmuch as the glance of this Ancient Temple hath been directed towards thee. Let not the affairs of men grieve thee. Be thou steadfast in the Cause of thy Lord in such wise as to make the backs of the deniers to quake.
O Tunbul! Were We to cast upon thee a remembrance, thou wouldst soar unto heaven. Thy Lord is, verily, the Almighty, the Powerful. Know thou that We have named this Prison the Most Great Prison. Blessed are they who are endowed with true understanding. When We were under chains and fetters in the letter “Ta,” We did not name it “the Most Great.” Ponder that which hath proceeded from the Tongue of Eternity. Thy Lord is, verily, the One Who speaketh as He pleaseth. Blessed art thou for having attained unto the presence of thy Lord and hearkened unto His call, and art numbered among them that have attained. Recognize the value of that wherewith God hath favored thee through His wondrous grace. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who hast unveiled to me Thy beauty and made known to me Thyself whilst I was in the clutches of the wicked ones.
BH07469: O God, my God! Thou beholdest Thy servants…
He is the Mighty, the Pardoner, the Compassionate!
O God, my God! Thou beholdest Thy servants in the abyss of perdition and error; where is Thy Light of Divine Guidance, O Thou the Desire of the world? Thou knowest their helplessness and their feebleness; where is Thy power, O Thou in Whose grasp lay the powers of heaven and earth?
I ask Thee, O Lord my God, by the splendour of the Lights of Thy Loving-kindness and the billows of the Ocean of Thy knowledge and wisdom and by Thy Word wherewith Thou hast swayed the peoples of Thy dominion, to grant that I may be one of them that have observed Thy bidding in Thy Book. And do Thou ordain for me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy trusted ones, them that have quaffed the wine of divine inspiration from the chalice of Thy Bounty and hastened to do Thy Pleasure and observe Thy Covenant and Testament. Powerful art Thou to do as Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Decree for me, by Thy Bounty, O Lord, that which shall prosper me in this world and hereafter and shall draw me nigh unto Thee, O Thou Who art the Lord of all men. There is none other God but Thee, the One, the Mighty, the Glorified.
BH07470: My God, my God! Thy love hath set me…
In the Name of our Lord, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!
My God, my God! Thy love hath set me aflame, and nearness to Thee hath gladdened me, and attraction unto Thee hath drawn me nigh, while remoteness from Thee hath brought me death.
I beseech Thee by that shore of the sea of Thy reunion whereon was raised the pavilion of Thy majesty and the tabernacle of Thy Cause, and where Thou didst manifest Thyself unto all who are on earth through the lights of Thy countenance, that Thou mayest exalt the stations of those who have desired the elevation of Thy Most Exalted Word and strengthen them to glorify Thy Cause, O Lord of Names and Creator of heaven!
Then I beseech Thee, O Fashioner of nations and Lord of eternity, by Thy Most Great Name, to assist Thy loved ones to stand firm in Thy Cause in such wise that the opposition of the Pharaohs among Thy creatures and the tyrants of Thy lands who claim knowledge without proof from Thee or testimony from Thy presence shall not cause them to stumble. Verily Thou art He Whom the doubts of those who have denied Thee and Thy signs cannot hinder.
O Lord! Aid Thy chosen ones in that which Thou lovest and art pleased with. Thou art, verily, the Lord of the former and latter generations. There is none other God but Thee, the Most Exalted, the Most High.
BH07474: Today lamentation is heard from the heart…
In the Name of Him by Whom the seas have surged!
Today lamentation is heard from the heart of the world, for the people of the Bayan have arisen in grievous oppression. By the life of God! This Most Great Revelation hath ever been, and continueth to be, independent of the acceptance or rejection of the peoples. Justice, like the phoenix, existeth in name but not in reality. Equity, like the philosopher’s stone, is rare indeed. O people of God! Be set ablaze with the fire of divine love—a fire which neither the mention of the world, nor the conjectures of the nations, nor the doubts of the deniers, nor the whispers of the heedless can quench. It is not known by what proof or testimony the deniers among the people of the Bayan cling to truth, or by what evidence they turn away from this Most Great Revelation. Blessed is the one who heareth with his own ears and recognizeth Him through his own eyes. The glory shining forth from the horizon of the heaven of My mercy be upon thee and upon whosoever hath cast aside the ways of men, turning unto the straight path of God.
BH07517: We have indeed revealed in the Book…
He is the One manifest from His most exalted horizon
We have indeed revealed in the Book that which no books of the past can equal, as testifies to this He with Whom is the Mother Book. The Hidden has appeared and has manifested what He intended, yet the people remain in doubt and discord. They have followed vain imaginings by night and by day, turning away from God, the One, the Chosen One. Thy name was present before the Wronged One. We make mention of thee through the verses of thy Lord, the Lord of all men. Beware lest the clamor of the people hold thee back. Take hold of the Book with power from God, the Lord of Lords. Every one who has turned towards it has attained the verses of his Lord, and every name that has appeared before the Countenance has attained that before which the Tablets have bowed down.
But when the Promise came to pass and the horizon of the world was illumined with the Light of the Manifestation, the divines and princes turned away from Him and uttered that which caused the dwellers of the most exalted Paradise and those who circle round the Throne at eventide and at dawn to lament. Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them unto thee as a grace from Our presence, and We are truly the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.
BH07518: We left the Prison-land some days before the days…
He is the Most Mighty, the Most Great
We left the Prison-land some days before the days of Ha, and returned thereto but one day before the Festival. Thus was the matter decreed by God, the Lord of the worlds. And the verses were being sent down like rain, nay rather more copiously, as witnessed by such servants as circumambulated the Throne morning and evening. O peoples of the world! Hearken unto the call of God, the Sovereign of eternity. Verily, there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Gracious. Beware lest the gifts and ornaments of the world prevent you from its Sovereign and its Creator. By My life! They shall all perish and sovereignty shall remain with God, the Peerless, the All-Informed. Were anyone to reflect upon what hath passed, he would become aware of what shall come to pass, and nothing on earth would grieve him. He, verily, is the Witness, the All-Seeing. When thou didst receive My Tablet and read My verses, turn thy face towards My direction and say: Thanks be unto Thee for having remembered me in the Prison. I testify that in bounty Thou art possessed of a mighty station.
BH07628: This is a remembrance from Us to the one…
He is the One speaking from the horizon of utterance
This is a remembrance from Us to the one who heard the Call and turned to the Most Exalted Horizon […] from which most of the servants turned away. We have heard your cry […] that you may rejoice and thank your Lord, the King of the Day of Mutual Calling. Blessed is My name that entered the prison for My remembrance and My love, and blessed is every name that was touched by hardship and adversity for this Name, before which, when it appeared, all names bowed down in submission, as the Mother Book bears witness in this exalted station. Beware lest the affairs of creation prevent you. Leave what they have and take what has been given you from God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them to you that you may thank your Lord, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. The glory shining from the horizon of the heaven of My mercy be upon you and upon those whom the might of the enemies did not frighten, who arose with the supreme steadfastness and bore witness to that which God bore witness before the creation of the heavens and the earth.
BH07631: This is a mention from Us to one who…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
This is a mention from Us to one who hath attained unto the recognition of his Lord, whilst most of the servants remained heedless thereof. Thy mention hath been made in the presence of the Wronged One, and there hath been revealed for thee that which hath illumined the horizon of creation. Be thou thankful and render praise for that which hath aided thee and caused thee to recognize the Dawning-Place of His verses, Who speaketh in the world: “There is none other God besides Him, the Mighty, the Bestower.” God willing, mayest thou be continually blessed through divine favors and speaking and uttering the praise of the Intended One. Hold fast unto the hem of God and cleave unto the cord of steadfastness.
By My life! This is among the greatest of deeds in the sight of the Self-Sufficient, the Most High. The days are passing, and ere long the carpet of the existing world shall be rolled up, and that which hath been ordained by God shall appear and be made manifest. Blessed is the soul that hath attained unto that whereby its mention shall endure in the Kingdom of God, the Lord of all worlds. Grieve not at anything. Remember thy Lord. Verily, He heareth the call of whosoever turneth unto Him. He is the Guardian of them that remember Him. And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH07735: The oceans have been set in tumult, stirred into…
The oceans have been set in tumult, stirred into motion by the breezes of this Manifestation, yet the people remain unaware. Verily, those who have inhaled the fragrance of God—these are the ones who belong to this praiseworthy station.
Every page of the Bayan hath borne witness unto this Revelation, but the people understand not. He hath said:
“Should anyone lay claim to a Cause, hasten not to deny him. Haply there may be sent down unto you that whereby the minds of men are enraptured. And if nothing should be made manifest unto you, then beseech him with utmost humility and ardent supplication, that he may reveal unto you, from the ocean of his bounty, that which ye have sought.”
Thus was the matter irrevocably decreed in the Book of God, the Mighty, the All-Loving. Yet when the Book appeared, and the verses were sent down, and the hidden mysteries were unveiled, they disbelieved in God, save such as turned their faces toward the Kaaba of existence.
Verily, We have sent down for thee this Tablet, from whose horizon the luminary of the grace of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved, hath shone forth, that thou mayest offer thanks unto God, thy Lord and the Lord of whatsoever hath been and shall be.
BH07743: We have raised up the heaven of man…
He is the Ever-Abiding, the Everlasting
We have raised up the heaven of man and adorned it with the twin luminaries of steadfastness and trustworthiness. Verily He is the One Who ordereth as He pleaseth. There is none other God but He, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Hold ye fast, O people, unto that which is good, and cast behind you that which is forbidden, turning unto God, the Mighty, the All-Informed. Draw ye nigh unto the Most Great Ocean with your hearts, and take fast hold of the hem of your Lord’s mercy, the All-Bountiful. The verses have been sent down and the signs have appeared, yet the people remain in evident blindness. Say: He counseleth you to observe pure truthfulness and trustworthiness, whereby the station of every insightful soul is made manifest. Whoso acteth in accordance with that which hath been commanded by God, he is assuredly among the triumphant. Say: O people, this is a Day wherein the world hath been illumined by the lights of the Countenance. Turn ye unto Him and be not of the heedless. We make mention of thee and of those who have believed in this Mighty Announcement, whereby the feet have slipped and the hearts of the mystics have been perturbed. Thus hath the Tongue of Revelation spoken, that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Bountiful Lord.
BH07754: In My Name, the Most Great
In My Name, the Most Great
The heaven hath been rolled up, and another heaven hath been spread out, and it hath been raised up through this Name whereby every hidden matter hath been made manifest. Blessed is he who hath recognized the remaining Six concerning which the Truthful, the Trustworthy One gave tidings. Whoso hath attained unto the recognition thereof hath attained unto that which God hath purposed in His wise Book. Verily do We make mention of the mysteries of this Day and that which hath been ordained therein by One Who is mighty and powerful.
O people of the world! [By God!] The Ancient Lord hath come, through Whose name the books of God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, have been adorned. Say: Open your eyes, for lo, He walketh before your faces and speaketh and saith:
“Behold Me, behold Me, O concourse of the earth! Be not of the heedless ones.”
Thus have We revealed unto thee that which the Herald of Sinai hath spoken in this glorious station, that thou mayest thank thy Lord Who hath made thee to know His Self and made thee to be of those who are assured. By the life of God! The Pen crieth out and the Tongue speaketh, yet the people are among the ignorant ones, nay rather, among those who slumber.
BH07759: The fragrance of the garment has wafted…
He is the One singing upon the branches!
The fragrance of the garment has wafted, and the Kingdom of holiness has appeared, and the Beloved of the world calls out from His Most Great Prison:
“To Me, to Me, O peoples of earth and heaven! To Me, to Me, O ye who dwell in the Kingdom of names!”
By God, the ocean of grace has surged, and the fragrance of justice has wafted, and the sun of bounty has shone forth, and the clouds of generosity rain upon all who are in existence. Blessed is he who has turned towards it, and woe unto every froward infidel.
Say: Look not upon those who have denied God and His sovereignty. Turn your hearts to the Self-Sufficient, the Most High. He shall reward those who have cast away the world for the love of God, the Lord of all nations, and shall fulfill what was promised to you in the Book. Look not upon the people and what they possess. God shall soon seize them through His power, and there shall remain for you what was ordained in the Scriptures and Tablets.
Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them unto thee that thou mayest recite them with melodious tunes and give thanks unto thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower.
BH07775: O God, my God! I have turned in repentance…
He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise
O God, my God! I have turned in repentance unto Thee, and verily Thou art the Pardoner, the Compassionate.
O God, my God! I have returned to Thee, and verily Thou art the the Ever-Forgiving, the Gracious. O God, my God! I have clung to the cord of Thy bounty, and with Thee is the storehouse of all that is in heaven and earth.
O God, my God! I have hastened toward Thee, and verily Thou art the Forgiver, the Lord of grace abounding.
O God, my God! I thirst for the celestial wine of Thy grace, and verily Thou art the Giver, the Bountiful, the Gracious, the Almighty.
O God, my God! I testify that Thou hast revealed Thy Cause, fulfilled Thy promise and sent down from the heaven of Thy grace that which hath drawn unto Thee the hearts of Thy favored ones. Well is it with him that hath held fast unto Thy firm cord and clung to the hem of Thy resplendent robe!
I ask Thee, O Lord of all being and King of the seen and unseen, by Thy power, Thy majesty and Thy sovereignty, to grant that my name may be recorded by Thy pen of glory among Thy devoted ones, them whom the scrolls of the sinful hindered not from turning to the light of Thy countenance, O prayer-hearing, prayer-answering God!
BH07797: Say: O my God! O Thou Who hast illumined…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
Say: O my God! O Thou Who hast illumined the horizon of utterance through Thy Name, and hast caused the pillars of those who denied Thy Name, the All-Bountiful, to quake! I beseech Thee by Thy power which hath encompassed all things, and by Thy sovereignty at which the kingdom of names was thunderstruck, to make me in all conditions stirred by the breezes of Thy verses and turned toward the horizon of Thy favors. O my Lord! I am a handmaiden among Thy handmaidens who hath heard Thy call and turned toward the horizon of Thy revelation, who hath clung to the cord of Thy bounty and sought the shore of the ocean of Thy grandeur. I beseech Thee to protect me in all conditions and to ordain for me in Thy Kingdom that which beseemeth Thy majesty. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. The glory rest upon Thee and upon Thy daughters who have turned toward Thee, faced Thee, and heard this Call from which the ears of the divines and the hearts of the eloquent ones were debarred, save those whom Thy Lord, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous, hath willed.
BH07844: Praise be to God that in the earliest days…
He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing
Praise be to God that in the earliest days thou didst break the chains of vain imaginings and turn thyself to the horizon of certitude. Today the standard of “He doeth whatsoever He willeth” hath been raised aloft, and the pavilion of “The Kingdom is God’s” hath been pitched upon the most exalted height. Blessed is the soul that hath attained unto that for which it was created. We beseech God to aid thee to mention Him, to praise Him, and to serve His Cause. That which thou didst send through My Name, upon Him be My Glory, reached the Most Holy Court. Blessed art thou for having spoken in remembrance and praise of the Wronged One in days wherein most of the servants have opposed Him. Say: My God, my God! Disappoint me not of that which Thou hast ordained for Thy loved ones, and withhold me not from the effusions of Thy days. I beseech Thee by Thy Most Exalted Word, whereby Thou hast subdued earth and heaven, to make me in all conditions looking unto Thee, speaking Thy praise, and holding fast to Thy Strong Cord. Verily Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful. Glory be upon thee and upon those who have believed in God, the Single, the All-Informed.
BH07879: This is a day wherein the temple of faithfulness…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious
This is a day wherein the temple of faithfulness trembled and […] eternity upon the branches of the Divine Lote-Tree by reason of what hath befallen the Wronged One at the hands of those who were heedless in the days of God, the Almighty, the Self-Subsisting. We hear the cry of those who have been attracted by the verses of their Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Rejoice thou that We have answered thee and made mention of thee in such wise as cannot be equalled by the treasures of the heavens and earth. Hold fast to the hem of thy Lord’s grace, then act according to what We have sent down in the Book. By God! This is better for thee than all that hath been created on earth—thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed, beareth witness to this. Beware lest the affairs of the world hold thee back. Leave them behind thee and turn with thy heart to the Most Sublime Horizon. Thus doth thy Lord make mention of thee—He Who remembereth, the Mighty, the All-Praised. We counsel thee to manifest supreme steadfastness and the wisdom which We have sent down in the Book. Verily thy Lord is the All-Wise, the All-Seeing.
BH08524: O My loved ones and My chosen ones! This…
…O My loved ones and My chosen ones! This Wronged One hath, through the nights and days, summoned the people to the highest horizon, desiring to guide all and make them aware of the straight path and the mighty Message, that the burning hatreds and hindering aversions might be removed from their midst, and all might gather in one circle and soar in one atmosphere. The obliteration of books, holy war, and the seizure of possessions have all been forbidden in this Revelation. This is a bounty that from the beginning of the world until now hath neither been seen nor manifested. It hath ever been hidden, and in these blessed days it hath appeared through His all-encompassing mercy and preceding grace. Blessed are they who possess insight, blessed are they who are endowed with knowledge, and blessed are they who act accordingly.
We cherish the hope that through the endeavors of those in authority—the divinely chosen ones, that is, the kings and rulers who are the manifestations of God’s power—this Cause may be assisted, that all may become free and unfettered and occupy themselves with their own affairs and that which profiteth them. Thus hath spoken the Tongue of Baha in the prison of Akka, as a mercy from Him and a favor from His presence to all who are in the heavens and on earth. Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH08532: O thou who gazest upon God and drinkest…
In the Name of God, the Most Ancient, the Most Holy
O thou who gazest upon God and drinkest from the cup of faithfulness! Hearken unto the call of thy Lord, the Most Exalted, the Most High, from the direction of ʿAkka, that there is none other God but Him, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious. Say: Verily, divine decree doth reinforce this Cause, and tribulation doth assist this Revelation, yet the people remain veiled and imagine they can extinguish this Light. Nay, by Him Who holdeth my soul in His hand! God shall soon reveal from this Prison what He hath purposed. He, verily, hath power over all things.
Guard thyself lest the winds of differences pass over thee. Remind the people in these days wherein the fire of sedition hath been kindled and its darkness hath encompassed the servants. We beseech God to assist thee in His Cause, to sanctify thee from all else save Him, to ordain for thee that which will draw thee nigh unto Him, to shelter thee in the precincts of His mercy, and to give thee to drink from the Kawthar of His bounties. He, verily, is the All-Powerful, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful.
BH08416: Your letter was received in prison and the Wronged…
Your letter was received in prison and the Wronged One, Who called all unto God, the All-Possessing, the Self-Subsisting, turned toward it. Its opening was adorned with this blessed verse:
“O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy most glorious glory [Baha].”
Observe the heedlessness of the people of the Furqan [Muslims], although they had previously said that God’s Most Great Name was mentioned in this prayer. To those possessed of insight it is most clear and evident that the station of mentioning the Most Great Name is at the beginning, since it precedes all names and is the source and dawning-place of all remembrances, and it appears at the opening of the aforementioned prayer. Despite this, all denied and failed to recognize its truth. Rather, they issued a decree for His death, save those whom God preserved through truth and delivered from the sea of idle fancies. Verily He is the All-Powerful, the Ancient of Days.
BH11662: Though according to what was said before, this servant’s…
He is God, exalted is He!
Though according to what was said before, this servant’s letters to your honor contained unanswered questions and improper words—as numerous tablets have been sent until now and no reply to any has been observed—surely there was wisdom in these matters. However, we are content with what God has decreed for us and we place our trust in Him, for He is the best helper and the most excellent guardian. Nevertheless, this imprisoned one is troubled and is reminded of this word: that we have always been content with news of your honor, but now the messenger is forbidden and that blessing is cut off. God willing, may you remain in the utmost joy and gladness, delight and happiness in all conditions, and be protected in the shelter of the Merciful’s protection from the harm of contingent existence and its people. We remember the companion, the mother, and the family with mention.
BH09648: Lawh-i-Husayn 2
In the Name of the Desire of the world
O Husayn! Consider the eagerness with which certain peoples and nations have anticipated the return of Imam Husayn, whose coming, after the appearance of the Qa’im, hath been prophesied, in days past, by the chosen ones of God, exalted be His glory. These holy ones have, moreover, announced that when He Who is the Dayspring of the manifold grace of God manifesteth Himself, all the Prophets and Messengers, including the Qa’im, will gather together beneath the shadow of the sacred Standard which the Promised One will raise. That hour is now come. The world is illumined with the effulgent glory of His countenance. And yet, behold how far its peoples have strayed from His path! None have believed in Him except them who, through the power of the Lord of Names, have shattered the idols of their vain imaginings and corrupt desires and entered the city of certitude. The seal of the choice Wine of His Revelation hath, in this Day and in His Name, the Self-Sufficing, been broken. Its grace is being poured out upon men. Fill thy cup, and drink in, in His Name, the Most Holy, the All-Praised.
Glory be to those who have attained unto the Kawthar of steadfastness on this promised Day.
BH08208: A mention from the Wronged One to him who…
He is the All-Knowing Witness.
A mention from the Wronged One to him who hath believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. We have heard thy call and have remembered thee in a Tablet from whose horizon hath shone the luminary of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, the Mighty, the Loving. Give thanks unto God for this most great favor and say:
Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of existence, for having caused me to recognize the Dawning-Place of Thy verses, the Dayspring of Thy clear tokens, and the Manifestation of Thy Will, and for having given me to drink, by the hand of Thy bounty, the Kawthar of Thy love, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved. I beseech Thee, O Mystery of existence and Sovereign of the seen and unseen, by Thy Name, the Manifest, the Hidden, and by Thy resplendent and treasured Secret, to aid me to remain steadfast in Thy love in this Day wherein one of Thy Names hath been imprisoned due to the turning away from Thee of most of Thy creatures. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and within Thy grasp is the kingdom of creation. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful.
BH08250: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest one…
He is the Mighty, the All-Bountiful
Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest one of Thy Afnan circling round Thy will and turning unto Thee when most of Thy servants have turned away from Thee. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued all created things, to transform his sorrow into supreme joy and his loss into greatest gain. Thou beholdest him, O my God, clinging fast unto Thee in the earliest of Thy days and serving Thy Cause before the creation of Thy creatures. I implore Thee to make manifest his station amongst Thy servants and his remembrance amidst the mentions of Thy creatures. Verily, Thou art powerful to do what Thou willest through Thy binding and wise command. Light and glory be upon thee and upon those who have quaffed the wine of steadfastness from this cup, whereof whosoever drinketh will turn and arise and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of those who are in the heavens and on earth.
BH08146: Divine verses have been revealed in such wise…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Glorious
Divine verses have been revealed in such wise that the writers of the world and the possessors of the pen are incapable and powerless to enumerate them. And whosoever hath turned toward the Most Exalted Horizon, the Countenance of the Ancient King hath turned toward him, and in the Most Holy and Sacred Station his mention hath been uttered by the tongue of Truth. Blessed is he who hath attained to the mention of God. That which is of paramount importance today is steadfastness in the Cause of God, inasmuch as the satans of the earth have been and are engaged in misleading and seducing the people. The people of Baha must needs be so firm in the Cause that no one may be able to utter a word. O Rahim! We have made mention of thee as a token of Our grace. Be thou firm in the Cause and steadfast as the mountain in the love of God, the Lord of this resplendent Day.
BH08610: O Hashim! Hearken unto My call which hath been…
In the Name of the Most Holy, the Most Mighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed!
O Hashim! Hearken unto My call which hath been raised from this Prison—this Spot round which circle the Concourse on High and hosts of favored angels. We have summoned both sovereign and subject unto God, the Lord of all worlds. Blessed is he who hath heard the Call and turned with his heart toward the Most Exalted Horizon, and woe unto him who hath turned away and denied the signs of God, the Mighty, the Wise. Hold thou fast to the cord of steadfastness and grasp the hem of thy Lord’s gracious favor. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the fragrances of My days and drunk the choice wine of My love from the hand of My bounty, and hath spoken My praise and glorification amongst My servants. He is of them who have fulfilled My covenant and My testament. To this beareth witness My Pen and My Tongue and whatsoever hath been created by the Word of God, the Powerful, the One, the Single, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. The glory be upon thee and upon her who hath believed in God, the Mighty, the Beautiful.
BH08252: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest…
…Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest the Wronged One bewildered in His affair. Whenever I revealed that which Thou didst command me and its revelation caused the fire of hatred to blaze in the hearts of Thine enemies, they committed that which made the people of the pavilion of Thy sanctity lament and the dwellers of the cities of Thy might and power cry out. O Lord! I beseech Thee by the light that shone forth from the horizon of Sinai, and by the effulgences of the lights of Thy grace at the dawn of Revelation, and by the rustling of the Lote-Tree of Thy loving-kindness, and by the flowing of the Kawthar of Thy bounty, and by the whispering of the breezes of Thy mercy, and by the breaths of Thy Revelation, to ordain for me that which will exalt me through Thy Name among Thy servants and make me steadfast and firm in the service of Thy Cause.
O Lord! I beseech Thee by the mysteries of Thy knowledge which Thou hast veiled from the eyes of Thy creation, to aid me to remember Thee and praise Thee in such wise that neither the sharpened swords, nor the piercing spears, nor the veils of glory, nor the doubts of the people of error may deter me. Verily, Thou art the Powerful, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted….
BH08397: In My Name, the Warbler upon the Branches!
In My Name, the Warbler upon the Branches!
This is a Book which the All-Merciful hath sent down to all who are in the realm of possibility. Therein hath He guided all unto His straight Path. Verily it is the Kawthar of Life to them that thirst, and a healing to every ailing servant. Verily it is the Table sent down from heaven to all created things, and the Lamp of the Command to the dwellers of earth.
Blessed is the servant who hath recognized and arisen to serve the Cause of God, and woe unto them that hesitate! Say: This is the Day of the Bayan, were ye of them that hear, and this is the Day wherein the Herald proclaimeth from every direction that which lay hidden in God’s knowledge. Rejoice, O people, and be not of them that turn away!
Thus hath been sent down from the Pen of the Bayan that which every discerning soul will find redolent with the fragrance of God, the Mighty, the Wise. Hold thou fast unto My Tablet and recite it before myriads of them that are nigh. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!
BH08221: A remembrance from Me unto him who hath loved…
He is the Most Generous, the Most Great
A remembrance from Me unto him who hath loved Me, that it may draw him unto My horizon and bring him near unto My ocean which surgeth through My Name, the Mighty, the Wondrous. He who cleaveth unto vain imaginings is accounted among the worshippers of idols in the sight of God, the Lord of all worlds, and he who hath quaffed the choice wine of revelation is reckoned among those who have drawn nigh in a perspicuous Tablet. O ye who are the beloved of the All-Merciful throughout all possibilities! Hearken unto that which God commandeth you in the Book, and follow not the way of the mischief-makers. He commandeth you to observe justice, even as He commanded you aforetime. He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Knowing. He hath revealed unto you that which shall profit you. Verily your Lord, the All-Merciful, is the All-Loving, the Most Compassionate. Act ye according to that which ye have been commanded in the Tablets of God, the Lord of the mighty Throne. Render thanks unto God for having acquainted thee with the Dawning-Place of His Cause and for having mentioned thee in His Book. Glory be upon thee and upon them that have believed in the One, the All-Informed.
BH08064: O Ali! May God break the necks of those…
He is the Ever-Abiding
O Ali! May God break the necks of those who have rebelled against God and spread corruption in the Holy Land, such that the Beauty of the All-Glorious was forced to depart from among you and become an exile from His home once again. This is among the decrees that have been ordained by the Sovereign Authority upon preserved holy tablets. Be patient in separation from meeting your Lord, then beseech God to remove our anguish and bring us relief. Verily there is no God but Him. His is the creation and the command. All things are with Him preserved in a holy Book. O young one! Call upon your Lord, for We hear what you supplicate to your Creator. He will answer you and every destitute one who has become poor before his Lord, and every one who is denied and deprived. Thus has your Lord commanded you—the Manifest, the Evident, the Clear, the Known.
BH08206: A remembrance from Our presence and a testimony…
He is the Ordainer, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
A remembrance from Our presence and a testimony from before Us for him who hath believed in the All-Merciful on His glorious, wondrous Day.
This is the Day whereon the gate of heaven hath been flung open and the Lord of Names hath come with signs such that the treasures of the earth can in no wise compare with them, nor can the hosts of tyranny hinder them, nor the power of those who have disbelieved in the Day of Reckoning weaken them.
Blessed art thou, O ʿAli-Qabl-Rida, inasmuch as thou hast turned thy face and attained unto a remembrance by which the Concourse on high and the dwellers of the Supreme Paradise are enraptured.
Say: Unto Thee be praise, O my Beloved, my Goal, my Support and my Helper, for that Thou hast made mention of me and hast sent down that whereby the eyes of them that are nigh unto Thee are solaced. I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy Most Great Throne, and by Thy command whereby Thou hast subdued the nations, that Thou mayest ordain for me the good of the life to come and of this first life.
Verily, Thou art the Lord of Names, and in Thy grasp lie the reins of all things. There is no God but Thee, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful.
BH08287: God hath testified to the fact that I am…
He is the Eternal
God hath testified to the fact that I am indeed one that hath believed in He at Whose Remembrance those who are nigh unto God quaffed the choice wine of eternal life. So too such of the sincere ones as were not diverted from comprehending Him be they in the heavens or on the earth; save that is, such as thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise hath willed.
O Diya’! Be patient in misfortunes and contented under all circumstances. In truth be firm and unwavering; be quick in doing good deeds; be assiduous toward God; be a veiler of people’s faults; be an avoider of lust. Be a runner after truth, a cloud of bounty to the servants of God; be kindly to thy debtors; be a forgiver to the transgressors; be a fulfiller of the Covenant and steadfast in the Cause.”
Wherefore doth this Wronged One counsel thee unto the fear of God. He directeth thee unto trustworthiness and sincerity. Be characterized by this twain; embrace these two qualities. Blesssed be thou and whomsoever loveth thee for the sake of God. But woe betide such as are hateful of thee and causeth thee to turn aside from that unto which thou hast been commanded in the Book of God.
BH08237: Glorified art Thou, O my God, the God…
He is the Announcer, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise
Glorified art Thou, O my God, the God of existence and Lord of the seen and unseen! I testify that through Thee the ocean of knowledge hath surged within creation, and through Thy name the sun of certitude hath shone forth from the horizon of the heaven of Thy name, the All-Merciful. I beseech Thee by Thy mighty signs and by Thy Most Holy, Most Great, Most Exalted, Most Glorious Name, to ordain for me from Thy Most Exalted Pen that which will comfort mine eyes and gladden my heart. O Lord! Thou seest me standing before the gate of Thy bounty, awaiting the wonders of Thy grace. I beseech Thee to send down upon Thy Afnan, from the clouds of Thy mercy, that which will raise him up in Thy name amongst Thy servants. Then open before his face the doors of Thy blessings and riches. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the All-Compelling, the Commander, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. My Most Great Branch hath appeared at the Most Luminous Horizon, and We have mentioned thee as thou didst mention Him, in such wise as to draw mankind nigh unto God, the Lord of the worlds. The dominion, the kingdom, the might and the power belong to God, the Lord of the Day of Judgment.
BH08139: This Wronged One hath at all times beseeched…
He is the All-Encompassing, the Sovereign over all names.
This Wronged One hath at all times beseeched the Almighty God to protect the Branches and Leaves. The purpose of this protection hath been and is the protection of the true understanding. The protection of physical bodies in these days hath not been and is not of any worth. Blessed is the soul that sacrificeth itself in His path, and blessed is the blood that is shed in His love.
Were the hidden mysteries to be revealed, all would hasten to the place of sacrifice, but the veils remain drawn through His wisdom. He, verily, is the Ordainer, the All-Wise.
Say: Praise be unto Thee for having remembered me in Thy prison while Thou wert in the hands of the oppressors among Thy servants. I beseech Thee to forgive me and to ordain for me from the wonders of Thy bounty that which will draw me nigh unto Thee. Verily, Thou art the Single, the One, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Beloved.
BH08013: Let those souls who have sought, or who hereafter…
Let those souls who have sought, or who hereafter may seek, healing from the ocean of Divine grace make mention of these exalted words that have shone forth from the Dayspring of bounty:
In His Name that overshadoweth all names
O God, my God! I beg of Thee by the ocean of Thy healing, and by the splendors of the Day-Star of Thy grace, and by Thy Name through which Thou didst subdue Thy servants, and by the pervasive power of Thy most exalted Word and the potency of Thy most august Pen, and by Thy mercy that hath preceded the creation of all who are in heaven and on earth, to purge me with the waters of Thy bounty from every affliction and disorder, and from all weakness and feebleness.
Thou seest, O my Lord, Thy suppliant waiting at the door of Thy bounty, and him who hath set his hopes on Thee clinging to the cord of Thy generosity. Deny him not, I beseech Thee, the things he seeketh from the ocean of Thy grace and the Day-Star of Thy loving-kindness.
Powerful art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee. There is none other God save Thee, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.
BH08074: We, verily, have made the clear signs manifest…
He is the Most High, the All-Glorious.
We, verily, have made the clear signs manifest, and have brought to light that which lay hidden within the Book. We have spoken, and have caused all things to speak forth the remembrance of God, the Lord of the beginning and the return. We have enjoined upon all that whereby the Cause of God, and their own stations, may be exalted; yet they have turned aside, for they have followed every idolater sunk in doubt.
Say: O My people! By God, the gate of heaven hath been flung open with the key of My Most Glorious Name. Thereof beareth witness, with Him, the Book of Mysteries. Thus hath My Pen been set in motion, and thus hath the Tongue of My grandeur spoken. Ponder, O people of insight! We have, indeed, beheld thee and heard thy cry, and have answered thee with this Book, through which even the pebble hath been made to utter praise. Dominion belongeth unto God, the One, the Mighty, the Unconstrained.
When thou art honoured through the verses of thy Lord, make mention of Him among His servants, that haply they may turn toward the dawning-place of His bounty and acknowledge that which hath appeared in the realm of creation.
Glory be upon thee, and upon every soul that turneth in devotion unto the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.
BH08191: This is a mention from Us to him who…
He is the Helper, the Succourer!
This is a mention from Us to him who hath turned unto God, the All-Possessing, the Self-Subsisting, that it may draw him nigh unto the Most Exalted Horizon and cause him to witness that which the Tongue of Grandeur hath witnessed: that there is none other God but Me, the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.
We have heard thy call and have answered thee, and have beheld thy turning unto Us, and have sent down for thee the verses that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord, the Sovereign of all sovereigns. We counsel thee to be steadfast in this Most Great Cause, whereby the limbs of every heedless and veiled one have quaked with fear. Be thou eloquent in thy Lord’s praise and arise to serve His irrevocable Cause.
Verily God hath forgiven those for whom thou didst seek forgiveness from the heaven of His bounty. He is verily the Mighty, the All-Forgiving. The glory be upon thee and upon thy son and thy wife and her mother and upon those women who have believed in God, the Lord of all worlds. We send forth from this spot Our glorification upon the faces of My loved ones and We give them the glad-tidings of My mercy which hath preceded all who are in the heavens and on earth.
BH08228: Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great
Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses and taught His servants that which profiteth them in the Kingdom. He is, verily, the Mighty, the Loving. Thy mention hath been made in the presence of the Countenance while thy Lord, the Self-Subsisting, the All-Compelling, was walking, and He hath answered thee out of His mercy and as a token of His grace. He is, verily, the All-Bountiful, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved. Be thou steadfast in the Cause and put thy trust in Him in Whose hand is the dominion of the heavens and earth, and in Whose grasp lieth […] created by His command “Be, and it is.” Beware lest the opposition of the divines or the allusions of any misbeliever outcast withhold thee. Consider when Muhammad, the Apostle of God, appeared—the divines turned away from Him and every wicked reprobate opposed Him. Thus doth My Most Exalted Pen move that thou mayest rejoice within thyself and arise to serve thy Lord, the Possessor of the seen and unseen.
BH08292: The seekers are in Haifa, and the Sought One…
He is God, the Most High
The seekers are in Haifa, and the Sought One in Akka. Glorified be your Lord, the Most High! The root of the Divine Lote-Tree is in Akka, and its branch in Haifa. Glorified be your Lord, the Most High! Unto the travelers in the land of the All-Merciful, and unto the leaves of the tree of glorification, We convey exaltation and greeting. God willing, they may be occupied, in utmost joy and gladness, with the remembrance of the Beloved, and through His memory be made cheerful and dilated in heart.
Let Diya’u’llah and Badi’u’llah act according to that which God hath willed, and be sanctified, purified, and freed from the manners of childhood.
Convey greeting and glorification unto all, whether young or old, women or men.
Let Majd and ʿAbdi occupy themselves with the reading of the writings and with transcription.
The Glory be upon you.
That which is meet should be made ready in Our presence, that it may be sent. Be ye thankful though ye have not partaken, and render praise though ye have not seen. This station is one intended and worthy of regard. Verily, He is the best of those who purpose.
BH08365: Say: O my God, my God! I testify…
He is the One Who hath appeared from the Most Exalted Horizon.
Say: O my God, my God! I testify that this is Thy Day, which was mentioned in Thy Books; and I testify that this is Thy Manifestation whereof Thy Books, Thy Messengers and Thy Tablets have given the glad-tidings.
I beseech Thee by the lamp of Thy Cause and by the radiance of Thy Countenance that Thou make me not deprived of the breezes—of the very breaths—of Thy revelation in Thy Book, O Lord. Enable me to remain steadfast in Thy love and in Thy command; then aid me against the wrongdoers who have broken Thy Covenant and Thy Testament from among the people of the Bayan, and have turned away from Thee and from Thy signs.
O Lord! Grant that I may act according to that which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book. Strengthen me, O my God, through Thy power, that the affairs of the rulers of the earth and their learned ones may not hinder me from Thy Cause. Then ordain for me the good of the life to come and of this first life below. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH08366: Say: My God, my God! I testify to Thy…
He is the All-Commanding, the All-Wise!
Say: My God, my God! I testify to Thy oneness and Thy singleness, and I acknowledge that which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book. I beseech Thee by Thy Name, the Manifest, the Hidden, to assist me to act according to that which Thou hast commanded me therein.
O my Lord! Thou seest me turning unto Thee and confessing Thy grandeur and Thy sovereignty. I beseech Thee by the pearls of the ocean of Thy mercy and the dawning lights of the sun of Thy grace to assist me in Thy remembrance and praise among Thy servants with the wisdom which Thou hast sent down in Thy Scriptures and Thy Tablets.
I furthermore beseech Thee by the power of Thy Word and the sovereignty of Thy Will and the all-encompassing nature of Thy Purpose to forgive me through Thy bounty and generosity and to ordain for me that which will make me steadfast in Thy Cause and firm in Thy love.
Thou art He Whom the contingencies of the world cannot frustrate, nor can the might of the nations weaken. Thou doest what Thou willest through Thy sovereignty. There is none other God but Thee, the Single, the One, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH08406: This is a Book inscribed by the finger…
He is the One Who has dominion over all who are in the Kingdom
This is a Book inscribed by the finger of the Will of the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. Verily it is the Preserved Tablet, and it is that which has been sent down in this unfurled Parchment, and from it appeared the Written Book. Say: Through it were all books sent down and every Messenger dispatched, and verily He is the One established upon the Throne in His frequented House. He is the Truth, beholding creation from this Praiseworthy Station. Verily He is the One Who stands through the Truth, and verily He is the Self-Subsisting. By His Name was the Trumpet blown and the seal of the Choice Wine broken—none has attained unto it save those who have held fast to this Extended Cord. Can anyone draw nigh unto God? Nay, by My Self, except whom God willeth, the Lord of what was and what shall be. We beseech God to ordain for every one who turns towards Him this Forbidden Station.
BH08483: As the eye of the faithful weeps…
He is the All-Knowing
As the eye of the faithful weeps for the martyrs in the path of Baha, it seems as though it has freshly heard the news of those who were wronged. Praise be to God in all conditions! Reflect upon the grace of God: though the servants deserved punishment, He bestowed favor and sent mercy. Justice stands bewildered at the greatness of this grace. He doeth what He willeth and ordaineth what He pleaseth. News was received of the extinguishing of the fire in the furnace, the descent of water from the ceiling, winter’s encroachment upon summer, the blowing of freezing winds, and the falling and dropping of oranges in the great garden. God willing, compensation for what was lost will come through the grace of the Revealer of verses. Verily, He has power over all things. ʿAbdu’s-Salih was sent with scant provisions to deliver and bring back news. You are all beneath the shelter of your Lord’s grace. The condition of the Most Exalted Leaf is, God willing, good. We send greetings to all.
BH08528: To be typed
To be typed.
BH08538: In His Name through Whom the Gate of Utterance…
In His Name through Whom the Gate of Utterance was opened to all who are in the realm of creation!
O people of God! This is the day of steadfastness, for from every direction some matter appears and from every quarter some commotion arises. The enemies have desired to extinguish the light of the Bayan and this Lamp through which the contingent world and all existence have been illumined. All must occupy themselves with the utmost steadfastness and with wisdom and utterance in capturing hearts. We have heard thy cry, have remembered thee, and commanded thee and My loved ones with that whereby the Cause of God shall be exalted throughout His creation. Let not what hath befallen the chosen ones in the Land of Ya sadden thee. Leave vain imaginings to their inventors and take up that whereby your station shall be exalted in this praiseworthy position. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having given me to drink from the chalice of utterance from which the fragrance of Thy loving-kindness was wafted among Thy servants. Verily Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Bountiful, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
BH08582: O Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of them who…
He is the Book, the Radiant, the Manifest
O Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of them who are in creation, that they may abandon what they possess and turn unto God, the Lord of all worlds. This is the Day whereon the hearts of the Pharaohs have trembled, and the skins of the tyrants have shuddered, and the faces of those who have turned to God have been illumined. The choice wine hath flowed, and the pure water hath appeared, yet the people remain in evident drunkenness, following vain imaginings and turning away from Him Who speaketh amongst mankind that there is none other God but Him, the Single, the All-Informed. We desired for them the good of this world and the next, yet they desired for Us that which would harm Us. They are indeed among the heedless. Turn thou not unto them that have wronged, and put thy trust in God, the Mighty, the All-Wise. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the days of God and hath drunk the choice wine from this cup which calleth out saying: “Joy be to them that drink!” Thus have We remembered thee in the Most Great Prison that thou mayest thank thy Lord, the Forgiving, the Bountiful.
BH08623: It behooveth thee to render thanks unto God…
He is the Expounder between earth and heaven!
It behooveth thee to render thanks unto God with the tongues of all created things, inasmuch as He hath aided thee to acknowledge the Dawning-Place of His Revelation and the Dayspring of His Cause, at a time when most of His servants have turned away from Him. By the life of God! Wert thou to discover that which God hath ordained for them that have turned unto Him, thou wouldst soar upon the wings of joy and cry out, saying:
“Praise be unto Thee, O God of the world, and glory be unto Thee, O Lord of all nations!”
O Nasru’llah! When thou hast attained unto the Tablet of thy Lord, read it again and again, that thou mayest inhale the fragrance of the verses of thy Lord and be of them who have detached themselves in His love from all directions. Thus doth My Most Exalted Pen make mention of thee and give thee glad-tidings, whilst thou wert wronged at the hands of such as were heedless of this Cause whereby the horizons have been illumined. Beseech thou God that He may vouchsafe unto thee the Kawthar of steadfastness and draw thee nigh unto Him under all conditions.
BH09027: Praise be to Thee, O my God, for having…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
Praise be to Thee, O my God, for having distinguished Thy servant whom Thou didst honor with Thy presence and caused to hear Thy verses. O my God, Thou knowest that he migrated in Thy love until he entered the city wherein was established the throne of Thy grandeur. Thereupon the banners of oppression were raised until the idolaters drove us from the Land of Mystery and cast us into the Most Great Prison. Thus was he prevented from attaining Thy presence.
O Lord! Ordain for him and for those who have sought Thee that which befitteth Thy majesty. Then write down for them the good of this world and the next. Then make them to be of those who circle round the Kaaba of Thy Cause in all Thy worlds. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. Nothing can prevent Thy sovereignty and Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious, the All-Wise.
BH09124: O Sakinih! The Wronged One of the world makes…
In the name of the one peerless God, the All-Knowing!
O Sakinih! The Wronged One of the world makes mention of thee from the Most Great Prison and counsels thee to that which is the cause of the exaltation of the Word of God and the elevation of being. Praise thou the Sovereign of existence and the Lord of the seen and the unseen, Who aided thee and guided thee until thou didst attain unto that for which the world was created. Preserve this most exalted station through the Name of the Lord of Names. Verily He heareth and seeth His servants and handmaidens. Blessed is the tongue that speaketh His praise and the heart that is occupied with Him and is detached and free from all else. Give thanks unto thy Lord for this manifest grace.
BH08663: Hearken unto My voice from the precincts of My…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!
Hearken unto My voice from the precincts of My prison, that it may acquaint thee with what hath befallen My Beauty at the hands of the manifestations of My majesty, and thou mayest discover My forbearance despite My power, and My patience notwithstanding My might. By My life! Shouldst thou come to know that which hath descended from My Pen, and discover the treasures of My Cause, and the pearls of My mysteries hidden in the seas of My names and the vessels of My words, thou wouldst, in thy love for My name and thy longing for My glorious and sublime Kingdom, lay down thy life in My path. O My servant! My body is beneath the swords of Mine enemies, and My flesh suffereth trials without number, yet My spirit is filled with a gladness with which all the joys of the earth can never compare. Turn with thy heart towards Him Who is the Kiblih of all horizons, and say: O peoples of the earth! Have ye denied Him in Whose path He Who came with the truth, with the announcement of your Lord, the Most High, the Most Great, suffered martyrdom?
Say: This is the Tidings whereat the hearts of the Prophets and Messengers rejoiced. This is He Who hath been mentioned in the Scriptures of God, the Mighty, the Wise. The hands of the Messengers have been lifted up, yearning to attain His presence before their Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. Unto this beareth witness that which hath been sent down in the Tablets from One Who is puissant and all-powerful. Among them was he who lamented because of My separation; among them was he who endured hardships in My path; and among them was he who sacrificed his life for My beauty, wert thou of them that know.
Say: Verily, He is the One mentioned by the tongue of Isaiah, and through remembrance of Him the Torah and the Gospel were adorned; and in the Qur’an He was named the Great Announcement. Thus hath the decree been ordained in the Tablets of your Lord, the All-Merciful. He hath borne witness unto Me, and I Myself bear witness unto that which I declare.
Say: The Bayan was sent down for naught but My remembrance. Every one who turneth toward it perceiveth therein My Name and extolleth My Self. Each word thereof crieth out in the wilderness of guidance: “He is the Beloved of the worlds!” My tongue counselleth you purely for the sake of God, and My Pen moveth in remembrance of you, though neither the injury wrought by them that dwell on earth can harm Me, nor the allegiance of all created things profit Me.
Say: O concourse of the world! Deem ye yourselves secure within palaces, whilst the Sovereign of Manifestation abideth in the most desolate of lands? Nay, by My life! Ye dwell in graves, could ye but perceive. Think ye that what ye possess shall remain with you, or that that wherein ye have busied yourselves during your days shall avail you? Ere long others shall inherit all that ye have owned, and ye shall return unto the blazing fire, the abode of the unjust.
By My life! Were I to recount the sweetness of the tribulations wherein I abide, the Tablets would be torn asunder and the pens would be struck senseless; and thy Lord is, verily, aware of what I say. There is no life which death overtaketh not, no permanence which extinction seizeth not, and no blessing that changeth not. Leave then what is yours, and turn unto the bounty of God which hath been sent down in this wondrous Name. Thus hath the Most Exalted Pen warbled unto thee by the leave of thy Lord, the Most Glorious.
When thou hast heard and read, say: Praise be to Thee, O Thou Who hast remembered me in Thy mighty Prison. Praise be to Thee, O my God, my Beloved, and the God of all who are in the heavens and on the earth.
BH08710: The lights of revelation have encompassed the world…
In His Name, Who heareth and seeth!
The lights of revelation have encompassed the world, and He Who conversed on Sinai is singing upon the Divine Lote-Tree with most wondrous melodies. Yet sight and hearing are lacking and non-existent, save for the sight and hearing that are illumined by the light of divine grace. O friends! Strive that perchance through His grace you may remain steadfast upon the straight path. His way is other than all ways, His path is other than all paths, and His will is other than all the wills of the people of the world. Blessed is the soul that hath clung to the cord of His grace and held fast to the hem of His bounty—such a one is among the denizens of the highest Paradise. Grieve thou not over anything. Rather, rejoice in My remembrance of thee and say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who art wronged throughout all lands, and glory be unto Thee, O Thou Who art imprisoned and estranged!”
BH11897: O Pen! Turn thy face toward Qaf and Mim…
O Pen! Turn thy face toward Qaf and Mim, then make mention therein of the friends of God and His chosen ones who heard the call with their ears and hastened with their hearts to the supreme horizon while the people were wrapped in heedlessness and veils…
O Naddaf! Blessed art thou for having turned toward thee from the direction of the Prison Him Who is the Dawning-place of grace and the Rising-point of loving-kindness and favors…
O Husayn! The Supreme Pen hath been moved to make mention of thee at a time when the hosts of tyranny have surrounded Me with the standards of misbelief and hypocrisy. O Naddaf! Ye have wrought in the path of God that which the people of the cities of justice and fairness have acknowledged. We beseech God to aid you and make you steadfast in this Cause whereby the pillars of the land have been shaken.
O Muhammad-Rida! The Lord of Names Who findeth Himself beneath the talons of hatred through what the hands of the wicked have wrought hath made mention of thee. Thou hast been remembered before the Wronged One and inscribed in the Scriptures and Tablets.
BH09125: O Aqa Mir Sayfu’d-Din, or Sayfu’d-Din! We have effaced…
O Aqa Mir Sayfu’d-Din, or Sayfu’d-Din! We have effaced the sign of the sword and made the sign of the pen to shine forth from the horizon of the mercy of thy Lord, the Bountiful. We have forbidden all that saddeneth hearts, and commanded the people of Baha to do that which bringeth joy to the hearts of all created things. Thus hath the decree been ordained from the presence of Him Who is the All-Wise Commander.
Blessed is he who hath cast away vain desire and taken hold of that which hath been commanded from the presence of God, the Lord of all mankind. Woe betide every heedless one who is far removed.
Take hold of the Most Great Name through the power of Him Who is the Lord of Eternity, and cast aside that which the peoples possess. This is that which profiteth the servants, and thy Lord is verily the Forgiving, the Merciful.
Be not perturbed by the clamor of the people who have cast the Book behind their backs and followed every heedless doubter. Thus have We illumined the Tablet with the lights of utterance from thy Lord, the All-Merciful, the Most Compassionate.
BH08685: O Tongue of Grandeur! Make mention of the Pasha…
O Tongue of Grandeur! Make mention of the Pasha in such wise as will draw him to the Most Exalted Horizon and bring him nigh unto the Most Great Sea which hath appeared in the world through this Name, whereby every seated one hath stood up, every mute hath spoken, every remote one hath drawn nigh, and every perceiving believer hath attained. Rejoice thou in My remembrance of thee, then stand firm in the Cause. Verily, He heareth and seeth, and He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. When the Dayspring of divine favors appeared, every denier who was deprived of God’s grace, the Lord of all worlds, denied Him. O concourse of earth! Fear God and be not of the heedless ones. By God! He Who was recorded in God’s Books, the Ancient of Days, hath appeared. Cast aside vain imaginings through the power of the Lord of all men, and hold fast unto certitude through this manifest Name.
BH09169: He hath dawned from His most exalted horizon!
He hath dawned from His most exalted horizon!
O My leaf! Upon thee be My glory and My loving-kindness. Blessed art thou, and blessed are thy son and daughter and those who are with thee. We testify that thou hast believed in God and His signs, and hast attained unto the recognition of His Self in His days, and hast drunk the choice wine of His love from the hand of His bounty. Give thanks unto thy Lord for this great favor. We have accepted thy service and thy work in that House wherein My mention and My praise were raised. Verily thy Lord is the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous. The gaze of the True One, exalted be His glory, hath ever been and will continue to be directed towards you. There hath befallen you what hath befallen Us. By this have the dwellers of Paradise and they who circle round My mighty Throne wept. The glory be upon thee from God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH09156: O Muhammad-ʿAli! Verily the heaven calleth out with this…
O Muhammad-ʿAli! Verily the heaven calleth out with this Most Great Name, and the sun crieth aloud saying: “The fragrance of the All-Merciful hath been wafted, and the Promised One hath come with a Cause against which neither the hosts of the heavens nor of the earth can prevail.” The Tree proclaimeth and saith: “O people of the earth! The seal of the choice Wine hath been broken, and the Desired One giveth with snow-white hands. Hasten ye unto Him, and be not of them that have turned away from this manifest, resplendent, mighty and all-encompassing bounty.” All things speak, and behind them the Dawning-Place of Names proclaimeth between earth and heaven: “By God! The Hidden hath appeared and the Treasured One hath been revealed. Beware lest ye deprive yourselves of meeting with God, the Mighty, the Wise.” Thus hath the Nightingale warbled and the Divine Lote-Tree spoken, yet most of the people are heedless.
BH09094: In My Name, the Most Glorious
In My Name, the Most Glorious
O My handmaiden! The glances of thy Lord’s loving-kindness have been directed towards thee, inasmuch as thou hast believed in God when He came with the kingdom of His signs and with manifest sovereignty. Rejoice thou in the remembrance of God. Verily, He hath sent down verses unto thee from this remote station that thereby thine eyes may be solaced, and the eyes of those women who have believed in God, the King, the Truth, the Mighty, the Merciful. Grieve thou not over anything. Verily, He is with whosoever hath turned unto Him—to this doth the Tongue of Grandeur bear witness from this luminous station. Preserve thou My Tablet lest it be gazed upon by every wicked and vile one. By God! The Day hath come, and the people are in grievous loss. They witness, yet deny. They are, verily, companions of the fire. Blessed is the handmaiden who hath believed in the One, the All-Knowing.
BH08651: My God, my God! This is a fragrance…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer!
My God, my God! This is a fragrance from the fragrances of the garden of inner meanings that has turned to Thee on a day wherein the divines of Thy age and the clergy of Thy lands have turned away. I beseech Thee by Thy Beauty that hath appeared amongst Thy creatures, and by the power of Thy Pen and the penetrating influence of Thy Cause, to ordain for her through the pen of Thy bounty that which will draw her nigh unto Thee. Then I beseech Thee, O God of all beings and Goal of all created things, by the fragrances of Thy days through which the mountains were moved and the Cry was raised and the earth shone with Thy light, to ordain for her from Thy Most Exalted Pen the reward of attaining Thy presence and standing before Thy countenance. O Lord! Thou art the Generous One. Thy grace hath preceded and Thy mercy hath preceded. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Generous.
BH09082: O My Afnan! My tongue and My Most Exalted…
He is the Mighty, the Great
O My Afnan! My tongue and My Most Exalted Pen bear witness that thou hast turned toward the horizon of God and set thy face toward Him, and hastened to the shore of the ocean of His presence, and soared in the atmosphere of His love until thou didst traverse land and sea and enter the Most Exalted Paradise in thy Lord’s prison, He Who is the Ruler of all names. And thou didst hearken unto His most sweet call and didst attain unto that which had been recorded in the Books of God and hidden in His knowledge. It behooveth thee to render thanks unto God for this great bounty, with which all the treasures of the earth and all the repositories of knowledge cannot compare. Thy Lord, the Ruler of the Kingdom, beareth witness unto this. The glory shining forth from the horizon of the heaven of My grace be upon thee and upon whosoever hath loved thee for the sake of God, the Mighty, the All-Loving.
BH09081: O My Afnan! O Mahmud! Praise be to God…
O My Afnan! O Mahmud! Praise be to God that thou hast entered a praiseworthy station and attained unto the visitation of the true House. By the Sun of Truth, which shineth resplendent from the horizon of the heaven of the Prison, I swear that this House hath ever been the circumambulation-place of the Concourse on high and of the dwellers in the exalted Paradise. How many of the near ones of God have, in yearning for it, offered up their lives and sacrificed their souls! By the power of faith and certitude thou didst set thy face toward the House of God, and didst attain unto it, and didst hear its call. Blessed art thou, and blessed the Afnan who in the earliest days attained unto My visitation. God hath, verily, aided you with that whose fragrance shall never cease. Render thanks, then, unto the Lord, Who hath come invested with His great glory and His irrevocable, wise command.
BH09113: O Baqir, upon thee be My glory! Thy letter…
He is the All-Knowing
O Baqir, upon thee be My glory! Thy letter which thou didst send to Zaynu’l-Muqarrabin was presented before the Face. God hath forgiven thee and whomsoever thou didst desire His forgiveness for. Verily He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Each of the mentioned souls hath attained unto the remembrance of God. Remind them of My verses and give them glad tidings of that which hath been sent down for them from the heaven of God’s will, the Lord of all worlds. As for those souls whom the might of princes and oppression of divines hath prevented from drawing nigh and associating, leave them to themselves. Verily God is independent of all worlds. The hearts of some are illumined. Verily He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Oppression hath prevented them from attaining His presence. Say: My God, my God! Strengthen the hearts of Thy servants through Thy power, lest the might of princes weaken them or the oppression of oppressors prevent them. Verily Thou art the All-Powerful, the Almighty.
BH09122: O Aqa Rida, or Rida! The Lord of Names…
O Aqa Rida, or Rida! The Lord of Names and Creator of Heaven remembers thee from His mighty prison. The Wronged One calls out at all times and summons all to the straight path. Among the people are those who have found the sweetness of utterance and soared in the atmosphere of divine knowledge on the wings of certitude, and among them are those who turned away and followed every sinful doubter.
Say: O concourse of divines! Ye are the veils of the earth and its doubts—to this testifies He with Whom is the perspicuous Book. Were ye to be fair, by what proof did ye believe in Muhammad, the Apostle of God, and by what evidence did ye turn away from Him Who came to you with that which is with the All-Knowing? Fear God and be not of the wrongdoers. Lost indeed are they who denied this Most Great Cause, at whose appearance the Book proclaimed: “The All-Bestower hath come with manifest sovereignty.”
BH09114: O House of Dhabih and ye that dwell therein!…
He is the All-Witnessing, the All-Informed.
O House of Dhabih and ye that dwell therein! God hath made mention of you, as a bounty from His presence, aforetime and again, and hath sent down for your sakes that whereby your name shall endure so long as His majesty, His sovereignty and His power—wherewith He hath encompassed all who are in the heavens and on the earth—shall endure.
We have likewise made mention of Dhabih with a remembrance which the Concourse on high received at the hour of his ascension, that My exalted, wondrous Book may bear testimony thereto.
Praise be unto God in all conditions! Through His grace he hath attained unto the honour of the Tablets, and hath been adorned with the mention of the Desire of all worlds. From God do We entreat that He may assist you in whatsoever shall cause the turning, the approach and the faith of the handmaids of thy land.
Glorified is God! The Cause is manifest, and the proof resplendent; yet all are veiled and debarred, save those souls who have quaffed from the cup of reunion in the Name of the Most Glorious. These, verily, are the companions of the Crimson Ark.
BH09118: O Husayn! He Who was promised by the tongue…
O Husayn! He Who was promised by the tongue of God, the All-Encompassing, the Self-Subsisting, hath come. Say: O heedless ones! Fear God and follow not those who have denied the signs of God and His Manifestation. Follow Him Who hath come to you with the truth by the command of One mighty and powerful. Fear ye God and follow not your idle fancies, for verily they keep you back from My straight path. Take hold of that which ye are commanded in the Book, for it shall profit you and draw you nigh unto Him at all times. Blessed art thou for having hearkened unto the call of thy Lord and turned unto Him on a day when all on earth turned away, save those whom the hand of God’s grace did rescue—the Lord of all worlds. The Hidden One hath appeared and revealed that which He desired as a token of His grace, for He is verily the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth through His firm and mighty command.
BH08689: We have desired to make mention of him who…
He is God, exalted be His glory!
We have desired to make mention of him who was named Muhammad before Husayn and give him glad tidings of the Wronged One’s acceptance of him from this far-distant shore. We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to protect him with His hosts and guard him by His sovereignty and aid him in His remembrance amongst His servants. He is verily the Powerful, the Unconstrained. And We make mention of Nasir Aqa that he may rejoice and be among the thankful. O Nasir! The All-Informed has come while the people are in evident heedlessness. We have adorned the world with this Revelation which was promised in the Books of God, the Lord of the worlds. We counsel its people to be steadfast in this mighty Cause whereby the faces of the ignorant have been darkened and the faces of the knowing have been illumined. Thus has the Pen spoken in this Prison through which God has manifested His Cause despite every ignorant doubter.
BH08682: O My Pen! Make mention of him whose name…
O My Pen! Make mention of him whose name was present before the Face, that he may glory in the remembrance of God amidst His servants and be of those who have stood firm in the Cause and acted according to what they were commanded by God, the Revealer of verses. O Pasha! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged One from the precincts of ʿAkka. He summons thee unto God, the Lord of the Final End. He hath appeared and desireth to purify the world from the defilement of treachery, falsehood and hypocrisy, yet the peoples of the earth have turned away from Him, having followed every doubting idolater. Thus hath the Tongue of Ancient Days spoken forth in the Most Great Prison, from God, the Lord of all men. Take hold of the cord of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, then enter beneath the canopies of grandeur through His Name, whereby God hath subdued the cities of the hearts of them that are endued with understanding.
BH08748: In these days the fire of sedition hath been…
In the name of the One God!
In these days the fire of sedition hath been kindled from every direction. The people of tyranny and the companions of wickedness have wrought that which hath caused the sun and moon to lament, and to weep over the oppression of the Wronged One. But the Hand of Divine power shall manifest that which He hath willed. The might of the world and the clamor of the nations and the oppression of the oppressors shall neither prevent nor forbid it. Verily He is the All-Powerful, the Strong, the Triumphant, the Almighty. Rejoice, O My Leaf, in My remembrance of thee, and say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having given me to drink of the Kawthar of Thy knowledge and enabled me to turn toward Thee in Thy days. I testify that Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth through Thy word “Be” and it is.

BH08649: My God, my God! Thy light calls me unto…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful
My God, my God! Thy light calls me unto Thee, and Thy fire keeps me back from Thee. I testify that the light hath appeared and shone forth from Thy face, while the fire is from mine own deeds, though it is attributed to Thee for Thou didst create and manifest it. I beseech Thee, O Cleaver of the Dawn and Sender of the Winds, to transform the fire through Thy light. O my Lord, I have turned to Thee, set my face toward Thee, and hastened unto the horizon of Thy grace. Ordain, O my God and God of all names, through Thy Most Exalted Pen for Thy chosen servants that which will preserve their tongues from mentioning aught but Thee and their hearts from loving any save Thee, and will cause them to be numbered among those who have quaffed the wine of certitude from the hands of Thy bounty. O Lord, withhold not from me that which is with Thee. I testify that Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful. There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH08650: My God, my God! This is a handmaiden among…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer!
My God, my God! This is a handmaiden among Thy handmaidens and a leaf among Thy leaves who hath inhaled the fragrance of Thy Revelation and hath testified to that which the Tongue of Thy Grandeur hath testified, that verily Thou art God, and there is none other God but Thee. O Lord! I beseech Thee by the days wherein the breezes of Thy grace have wafted over all who are on earth through Thy bounty and favors, and by the breathings of Thy Revelation in Thy days, to strengthen me in Thy remembrance and praise and in service to Thy Cause. O Lord! Thou seest me clinging to the hem of Thy generosity and holding fast to the cord of Thy loving-kindness. I beseech Thee to ordain for me the good of this world and the next, and to decree for me the reward of Thy handmaidens who circle round the throne of Thy grandeur. Verily Thou art He through Whose generosity all created things have testified, and through Whose power all beings bear witness. Thou doest as Thou pleasest and ordainest what Thou willest. Verily Thou art the Commander, the All-Wise. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Great.
BH08656: Today all things are engaged in the remembrance…
In the Name of Him Who shineth from the horizon of eternity!
Today all things are engaged in the remembrance and praise of God, and are crying out with the most exalted call in these supreme words: By God the Truth! The door of the treasury hath been opened, and the hidden mystery hath been revealed, through a Cause unlike all causes, through a remembrance unlike all remembrances, through a path unlike all paths, and through a thought unlike all thoughts of the servants. Blessed is the soul whose will hath been submerged in the Will of God and whose volition hath been dissolved in His good pleasure. We have heard thy call and witnessed thy turning unto Us. This Most Holy, Most Exalted Tablet hath been sent down as a token of grace that thou mayest inhale the sweet fragrances of the All-Merciful and remain firm and steadfast in His Cause with supreme steadfastness. Glory shining from the horizon of My Kingdom be upon thee and upon those who have held fast to the Strong Cord.
BH08704: We found man asleep; We awakened him. And We…
He is the One Who rules over the world!
We found man asleep; We awakened him. And We saw him distant; We drew him near. And We found him mute; We caused him to speak, that he might speak before the face of the world through the Most Great Name. Has he acted according to that for which he was created, or has he been among the heedless? We have adorned the tree of man with the fruits of steadfastness, trustworthiness, truthfulness and faithfulness. Blessed is the soul that hath been adorned with that which was ordained for it. Woe unto the deniers!
We name each thing by every name. Beware lest ye object to God. He, verily, is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth. At one time We name friendship an ornament for the temple of man, and at another time a crown for his head and a light for his countenance. Thy Lord, verily, is the Unconstrained, the All-Wise. Say: I testify, O my God, in this my station, that Thou art the One Who is praised in what Thou hast done and wilt do, and art obeyed in what Thou didst command aforetime and wilt command hereafter. Thou art He to Whose power and sovereignty all things have testified, and to Whose grandeur and might every great one hath borne witness. Thou art the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the Great.
BH08745: These are the days of farewell, and grief hath…
He is the All-Knowing, the Forbearing
These are the days of farewell, and grief hath seized the people of God, for the Fast, which was the cause of refinement and the means of reformation and spirituality of souls, hath come to an end. This separation consumeth the lovers and demolisheth the pillars of patience. In any case, we beseech patience and composure from the Lord, for verily He hath power over all things, and He is the Single, the One, the All-Wise, the All-Informed. O thou who art mentioned! Do thou likewise seek aid from the Lord and beseech from the ocean of His grace. Perchance thou mayest be enabled to observe the Fast in the coming year and add prayer unto it as well. How excellent was that which was said, and how excellent was he who said it: The year hath passed, and would that I knew Whether anyone hath achieved that which pleaseth Thee.
BH08805: In My Most Glorious Name
In My Most Glorious Name
I make mention of one of My maidservants who hath believed in My verses, turned toward My horizon, hearkened unto My call, sought the Dawning-Place of the lights of My Cause, and drank the choice wine of My love and the Kawthar of My remembrance. By My life! She is assuredly among the people of Baha in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds. How many a maidservant hath been so attracted by the verses of her Lord that the fire appeared from her very being, and how many a maidservant hath remained heedless and returned to the lowest of the low.
O people of Baha! Arise from the slumber of passion and turn ye toward the Most Exalted Horizon. By the life of God! Ye were created for this wondrous Day. Grieve not over this world, for it shall pass away and sovereignty shall remain with the One, the All-Informed. Thus hath the Tongue spoken when the All-Merciful was established upon the throne of His Great Name.
BH08809: May my spirit and being be sacrificed for you!…
He is God, exalted be His station of grandeur and glory!
May my spirit and being be sacrificed for you! The letters from that Beloved One were before this evanescent one to be delivered, but they slipped from view. Now I have sent the package. At the time of sending, they were granted access to the Most Holy Court. In these writings that were sent by Mihdi, there was no letter from Haji Husayn indicating that the indigo payment should arrive here. If they have written something previously, it should be made known. In any case, according to the command, you must verify carefully. If they have indeed sent a draft, very well; otherwise action must be taken according to his writing. There was nothing about a draft in these writings. Send the receipt so that it can be properly determined. The glory be upon you and upon those who love you.
The servant
BH08881: In My Name, the Ever-Abiding, the Eternal
In My Name, the Ever-Abiding, the Eternal.
God beareth witness, from His establishment upon His Throne, that there is none other God but Me, the All-Powerful, the Unconstrained. Among men are those who hear and respond, and among them are such as turn aside; for each is a portion ordained in the Book.
Verily, We have informed the servants of that which hath appeared and shone forth; thereunto bear witness the Books and the Tablets. The truly hearing ear is he that hearkeneth unto the Call of God, and the seeing eye is he that beholdeth the countenance of his Lord, the Possessor of all mankind.
Say: O My people! Lay hold on the Book of God with the power vouchsafed from His presence; then make mention of it at eventide and at daybreak. By the life of God! The verses have been sent down in such wise as to have filled all horizons.
They, verily, who have turned themselves toward it and have hearkened, these are of the people of God in the loftiest station.
Glory be upon the people of Bahá, who have cast away the world and laid fast hold on that which they were commanded from the presence of the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
BH08998: A Book hath the Lord of eternity sent down…
A Book hath the Lord of eternity sent down, wherein He heraldeth unto the nations that which hath appeared and shone forth from the horizon of God, the Lord of all the worlds.
It speaketh the truth and biddeth the peoples unto that which shall profit them in this world and in the world to come. Verily, He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Turn unto Him, O My people, and follow not the vain desires of those who have disbelieved in God, the Lord of the mighty Throne.
Say: This is the Day whereon all things are summoned, for the Lord of Names hath come. Blessed is he who hearkeneth; woe betide every heedless and doubting soul.
And when thou hast attained unto My verses and recitest My Book, then praise thy Lord and say:
Unto Thee be praise, O Beloved of the world, for that Thou hast made me knowing of Thy right, gazing toward Thy horizon, and voicing Thy gracious, beauteous praise.
I beseech Thee to enable me to remain steadfast in Thy command. Verily, Thou art the Most Bountiful, the All-Generous.
BH09037: The primary purpose in creating the world hath been…
He is the Mighty, the All-Wise!
The primary purpose in creating the world hath been for men to know the Beauty of the Pre-existent One. Whoso achieveth this purpose hath attained unto all good. But today the friends of God must occupy themselves with service to His Cause and appear among people adorned with praiseworthy attributes. The fruit of existence in this day is to hold fast to that which shall guide mankind. Grieve not over thy remoteness. Act in accordance with what hath been commanded thee by One Who is All-Knowing, All-Wise. Say:
Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Self to make me content with what Thou hast ordained for me in Thy Book, and to fix my gaze upon Thee in all conditions, detached from all else beside Thee. Then write down for me, through Thy bounty and favor, the reward of attaining Thy presence. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful.
BH09051: This is a mention from before Us to him…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great
This is a mention from before Us to him who hath believed in God, the Lord of the worlds, that the verses may remind him and draw him unto the supreme horizon. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
There hath come before the Wronged One a letter from him bearing the name of Javad, wherein was thy mention. We have revealed for thee the verses and sent them unto thee, that thou mayest thank thy Lord, the All-Bountiful.
We have adorned the heaven of the servants’ knowledge with the stars of their Lord’s ethics, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. Blessed is he who hath laid hold on goodly deeds, and woe unto every remote forsaker.
O My servants! Adorn your temples with the robe of steadfastness in this Cause, whereby the hearts of the mystics have been stirred.
We make mention of those who have turned unto the Countenance, and give them the glad-tidings of God’s grace and mercy which have preceded all who are in the heavens and on earth. Glory be upon the people of Baha, and upon thee and upon thy wife who hath believed in God, the Single, the All-Informed.
BH09084: O my God! Thou seest my state and my…
He is the Glorious, the All-Glorious
O my God! Thou seest my state and my dwelling-place, the weakness of Thy loved ones and the power of Thine enemies, the helplessness of Thy chosen ones and the might of the adversaries of Thy Self. I beseech Thee by the ocean of Thy knowledge and the heaven of Thy Word and the sun of Thy power to manifest in the world that which will gladden the eyes of Thy loved ones and bring assurance to their hearts in Thy days. Grant these servants a dwelling beneath the pavilion of Thy grandeur and the canopy of Thy glory, and bestow upon them from the hand of Thy bounty the water of everlasting life. Thou knowest, Thou knowest, Thou seest, Thou seest. O Knowing One, words are nothing—Thou speak! O Powerful One, deeds are vain—grant Thou befitting grace! This hath ever been and shall ever be worthy of Thee. Glory be upon me and upon Thee.
BH09148: O My Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of him…
O My Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of him who hath been named Baqir—upon him be My glory. He turned his face toward the Countenance when the people were in manifest doubt. He cast away vain imaginings in the name of his Lord, clinging to the hem of the mercy of God, the Lord of the Day of Judgment. Neither vain imaginings prevented him from the light of certitude, nor did idle fancies hold him back from God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
His letter hath come before the face of the Wronged One in these days, sent by him who hath been named in the Crimson Book by the Most Exalted Pen as Zaynu’l-Muqarribin. We have given him glad-tidings and have revealed for him that which shall endure as long as the Kingdom of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, shall endure.
We have made mention of those whom he named in his letter and have given them to drink of the Kawthar of life from the chalice of the bounty of their Lord, the Compassionate, the Generous. He is among those who stood firm in the service of his Lord and spoke forth His beautiful praise.
BH09237: O My sister! We beseech God to protect thee…
He is the Mighty, the Most Exalted!
O My sister! We beseech God to protect thee from the harms of the world. There hath been no news from thee for some time. God willing, thou art established in the abode of God’s love with the utmost happiness and joy. Shouldst thou wish to know how this mortal Prisoner is, by God, the tongue is speechless and pens are broken into pieces when attempting to mention it. However, We are at all times thankful and patient. Other than total submission and perfect acquiescence nothing is desired.
May thou be always engaged in mentioning the true Beloved and be illumined with the rays of the eternal and sanctified Sun. And upon thee be Glory.
BH09247: O Muhammad! Your letter which you sent to My…
O Muhammad! Your letter which you sent to My name, the Mihdi, hath reached this Prison, wherein the Tongue of the Wronged One proclaimeth that there is none other God but Him, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.
Be thou assured through God’s grace and mercy, and make mention of Him with such remembrance as will cause spirits and minds to soar. It behooveth everyone who hath turned unto the Countenance to act in accordance with what hath been commanded in the Book of God, the Single, the One, the Holy, the Mighty, the All-Loving.
As to what thou hast mentioned concerning those who have turned towards the Dayspring of God’s Cause, give them the glad-tidings that their names have been mentioned in this forbidden place. We have heard their call and made mention of them in this Book.
We beseech God to aid you to do that which He loveth and desireth. Verily, He is the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.
BH09468: He who emigrated to God, who traversed land…
He is the All-Knowing!
He who emigrated to God, who traversed land and sea until he arrived and heard the Call of the Wronged One in prison, hath made mention of thee. We make mention of thee in this wondrous Tablet, that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord Who created thee and forgave thee and made thee know His straight Path. Blessed is he who hath been imprisoned in My path, who hath found the fragrance of My loving-kindness, and who hath attained unto My mention and My Tablet, the luminous, the resplendent. O Murtada! We counsel thee and those who have believed to be steadfast in this Cause whereby all things have proclaimed: “The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Lord of the worlds!” Glory be upon thee and upon those whom the cawing of them that have denied the Day of Judgment hath not prevented. Thus hath the Pen spoken in the Most Great Prison. Blessed is he who hath heard, and woe unto them that deny, and unto every ignorant doubter.
BH09706: O Mir Hashim! The Most Great Announcement hath appeared…
O Mir Hashim! The Most Great Announcement hath appeared, and the Ancient Lord among the peoples calleth them unto the supreme horizon—the station wherein the Lord of Names speaketh that which hath enraptured the hearts of the righteous. This is the Day whereon the Mother Book and the Preserved Tablet cry out before the Face, speaking and saying:
“My Lord hath manifested Me—rejoice, O concourse of the chosen ones!”
Blessed is he who, being endowed with sight, hath attested to the All-Merciful, and he who, possessing hearing, hath gained this Call whereby the bones were made to quake. Cast aside what the people possess and take hold of God’s most exalted Word, whereby the Hour hath appeared and the mountains have passed away. Say: The Self-Subsisting calleth you unto Him, and the Wronged One remembereth you with that which hath caused the seas to surge.
BH09707: O Mir! The Captive remembereth thee for the sake…
O Mir! The Captive remembereth thee for the sake of God, the Lord of all worlds. He hath guided thee to the Most Great Path and given thee to drink of the choice wine of His Command. Be thou thankful and say: Praise be unto Thee, O God of all who are in the heavens and on earth! Be thou eloquent in My Name, and steadfast in the service of My Cause, and firm in such wise that naught in all the world shall hinder thee. Thus doth command thee the Lord of Eternity, Who hath come with the Most Great Name, and Who hath testified to that whereunto He testified ere the creation of earth and heaven, that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Even thus have We set forth the verses and sent them unto thee that thine eyes may be consoled thereby and thy breast be dilated, and that thou mayest be of them that have attained.
BH09625: In My Most Great Name
In My Most Great Name
O My handmaiden! Hearken thou unto My call from the precincts of My prison, the Spot which God hath made sanctified from mention of station and rank and place and possibility, and from whatsoever floweth from the tongue and is comprehended by the heart. Verily thy Lord, the All-Merciful, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Bear thou witness unto that whereunto God Himself hath testified: that there is none other God but Him, the Ever-Abiding, the Everlasting, the Mighty, the Holy, the Inaccessible, the Most High. The faces have been illumined by the lights of the Countenance, and the horizons by My luminous horizon. Remember thy Lord with joy and fragrance. Thus hast thou been commanded from before the All-Merciful, Who hath come with His mighty and wondrous Kingdom. Thus hath the Tongue of Baha spoken, that He might attract the hearts of the devoted ones and the minds of the mystics.
BH09532: This is a Book which God hath sent down…
He is the All-Knowing Expositor.
This is a Book which God hath sent down in the prison of Akka unto him who hath turned unto Him, hearkened and responded to his Lord, the Almighty. By My life! Whenever My Word is uttered from the tongue of My grandeur, all things raise their cry that sovereignty and command belong to God, the Lord of all worlds. O Abdu’l-ʿAli! We have heard thy call before and after, and have answered thee through this mighty Tablet. When thou attainest unto it and drinkest the choice wine of revelation from the ocean of its utterance and the goblets of its words, say: My God, my God! I beseech Thee by the blood of Thy loved ones, whereby the faces of the Concourse on High and the companions of the Crimson Ark were crimsoned, to make me one who speaketh forth Thy Name and remaineth steadfast in Thy Cause. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.
BH09213: This Day a different Sun hath arisen…
He is the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed
This Day a different Sun hath arisen, and a different Heaven hath been adorned with its stars and its planets. The world is another world, and the Cause another Cause. We beseech God not to deprive the people of Baha from the Crimson Ark. The idolaters have appeared with a new scheme, and vain imaginings have gained fresh currency, and for suspicions a lofty station hath been assigned. May God grant justice and fairness. Again, like unto the Shi’ih sect, they wander in the wilderness of idle fancies and delusions. They must be vigilant at all times concerning the Trust of God, lest the treacherous seize and steal it. The splendor of God rest upon thee from God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH09245: O ʿAli-Qabl-i-Akbar! Thy letter hath gained access…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great!
O ʿAli-Qabl-i-Akbar! Thy letter hath gained access to the Most Luminous Presence, and toward it have been directed the glances of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the Self-Subsisting, the All-Compelling. Blessed is he who hath cast away vain desire and followed guidance in this Day wherein the Sun of Knowledge hath dawned from the horizon of the loving-kindness of God, the Almighty, the Glorious, the Best-Beloved. Give thanks that We have read thy letter and caused thee to hear the cooing of the Divine Lote-Tree as thy Lord, the Most Exalted, the Best-Beloved, the All-Loving, was seated upon the Throne. Be thou steadfast in the Cause and say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having made Thyself known unto me and given me to drink of the choice wine of Thy Revelation. I beseech Thee not to abandon me unto myself. Make me, under all conditions, one who remembers Thee, extols Thee and speaks forth. Verily Thou art the Most Exalted, the Manifest, the Glorious, the All-Praised.”
BH09617: O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory…
He is the Hearer and the Answerer.
O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory and My loving-kindness. Although outward loss hath been sustained, yet I swear by the Sun of Truth that the profit of the world, both outward and inward, is reserved for you, and God will soon make it manifest through His grace. He, verily, is the Powerful, the Supreme, the Evident, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. The world is adorned with your mention. Grieve not for what hath befallen thee—greater than this hath befallen Us, to which both My tongue and thy tongue bear witness, and I am the Hearer, the All-Seeing. Light and glory be upon thee and upon those who love thee and will love thee and hearken to thy words concerning this Most Great, Most Holy, Most Mighty, Most Wondrous Cause.
BH09561: Praise be to God, thanksgiving be unto Him…
Praise be to God, thanksgiving be unto Him, and His is the grace, the bounty, the mercy and the glory, inasmuch as He hath, in these days, caused the rain of His providence to descend from the clouds of His bounty…
O Hasan! Today the call is raised from the horizon of Akka, and this prison takes pride over adorned, spacious, decorated and lofty cities, for every atom of this place proclaims in most eloquent utterance: “The All-Merciful has come!” We beseech God to assist thee in serving the Cause in such wise that the oppressors of the world shall be powerless to prevent thee. Verily thy Lord is the Expositor, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise….
BH09694: O Muhammad-Sadiq! Say: By God, the rustling…
O Muhammad-Sadiq! Say: By God, the rustling of the Divine Lote-Tree hath been raised, and the lights of the Countenance have shone forth from the supreme horizon. Blessed is he who hath witnessed and seen, and woe unto every heedless and veiled one. O peoples of the earth! All the signs have appeared, and the Lord of Names calleth aloud amongst mankind, yet most of the people understand not. Rejoice thou in that which hath been revealed from the Most Exalted Pen, and the Face hath turned toward thee from His forbidden station. Shouldst thou find the sweetness of My utterance and become aware of My loving-kindness and mercy, thou wouldst arise to make mention of Me throughout the kingdom of earth and heaven. Thus hath there flowed from the tongue of My Pen the stream of My bounty, as a token from My presence, and I am, verily, the Truth, the Knower of the unseen.
BH09579: We testify that you heard the Call, turned…
He is the One Who speaks from the horizon of the heaven of proof.
We testify that you heard the Call, turned to it and attained the presence, and drank the Kawthar of utterance from the hand of the bounty of your Lord, the Generous. We beseech God to make you among those who aided His Cause with the hosts of exposition. Verily He is the Powerful, the Mighty, the Bestower. Blessed are you for having attained the presence before the Countenance and for having achieved that which was mentioned by the Most Exalted Pen in the Books of the Messengers. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to assist you in His remembrance and praise and enable you to accomplish that which befits His blessed, mighty and wondrous Day. The Glory be upon you and upon those who aided the Cause of God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH09630: O My handmaiden and My leaf! Say: Glory be…
He is the Compassionate, the Ever Near
O My handmaiden and My leaf! Say: Glory be to Thee, O Lord of all dominion and Protector of the downtrodden! I beseech Thee by what Thou hast ordained in Thy celestial kingdom and Thy realm of might, to inscribe for this Thy leaf, by Thy Most Exalted Pen, that which will tranquilize her soul and dilate her breast. O my Lord! I implore Thee by Thy most great signs and the manifestations of Thy Cause in the kingdom of creation, to send down upon her from the heaven of Thy bounty that which will bring peace to her heart, rest to her members, and attraction to her soul. Verily, Thou art the Lord of the world, the Almighty over the nations, and the One made manifest through the Most Great Name, whereby the heavens and earth were illumined in Thy wondrous and wonderful Day.
BH09226: Verily, the Glory speaks at this hour, for whose…
Verily, the Glory speaks at this hour, for whose grief the Concourse on High and the dwellers of the cities of names do lament. He is, verily, the Mighty, the Bestower. We have desired to make mention of him who is named Aqa Baba, that he may rejoice in the remembrance of God, the Sender of Winds. Grieve not over anything and trust in all matters in God, Knower of the hidden and the manifest. We counsel thee to manifest the Greater Steadfastness in this Cause whereby heads were brought low and [the horizons] were illumined. Hold fast to the cord of thy Lord’s loving-kindness and cast behind thee the mention of every deceitful misbeliever. Say: O people of Baha! When there comes to you one who croaks with a book, leave him to himself, turning with spirit and joy to the Most Exalted Horizon.
BH09608: O Isma’il! Verily the Friend from the direction…
O Isma’il! Verily the Friend from the direction of His Most Great Horizon calls thee unto God, the Lord of Power, Who hath come with proof and evidence. Bear thou witness unto that whereunto God did bear witness before the creation of earth and heaven: that there is none other God but I, the Almighty, the Mighty, the Bountiful. O Isma’il! Verily the Sacrifice offered up his spirit in My path and expended whatsoever he possessed for My luminous countenance. Blessed is he who hath spoken in My praise and blessed is the learned one who hath arisen to serve My wondrous Cause. Thus have We sent down the verses and manifested the clear proofs as a grace and mercy from Us, but most of the people are among those who imagine vain things. Whoso attaineth today unto the choice wine of revelation, he is indeed of the people of Baha inscribed in the Crimson Tablet, and whoso is debarred therefrom is among the abject ones.
BH09317: Blessed is He by Whose name the Supreme Pen…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
Blessed is He by Whose name the Supreme Pen hath been set in motion, the Trump hath been blown, and all who dwell in the kingdom of names have swooned away. He, verily, is the One through Whom the Path hath been established and the Balance hath spoken forth at the midmost point of creation: “I am the Distinguisher, from the presence of the All-Merciful.”
Glorified art Thou, O Thou by Whose name the veils have been rent asunder and the Mother Book hath been expounded. I beseech Thee by the Preserved Tablet and by Thy Name, the Self-Subsisting, to assist Thy loved ones to be steadfast in Thy Cause and to ordain for them the choice sealed wine through Thy grace and favor. O my Lord! Withhold them not from that which Thou hast written down for Thy chosen ones in Thy days, and decree for them the good of this world and of the world to come, through Thy bounty and generosity. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH09691: O Mulla Muhsin! Be beneficent in the days…
O Mulla Muhsin! Be beneficent in the days of thy Lord by teaching His Cause amongst His servants. Blessed art thou for having shattered the idol of vain imaginings and turned unto the Cleaver of the Dawn. When the Promised One appeared, the divines and mystics of the earth turned away from Him, save whom thy Lord, the Almighty, the Unconstrained, did will. They make mention of God with their tongues while pronouncing judgment against Him without any clear proof or evidence. Lost indeed are they who denied the signs of God and His testimony, and turned away from Him Who created them through the Most Exalted Word. Thus did their souls entice them, and they are in strange doubt. Take hold of the Book of God with the strength that cometh from Him and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who hast honored me with this grace which hath been sanctified above all likeness and comparison.
BH09334: O thou who gazest upon the Countenance! In this…
O thou who gazest upon the Countenance! In this spiritual dawn and luminous morn, at the time of taking tea, the Greater Branch was present and mention was made of you. All those who were present engaged in remembering you, and beseeched God—glorified be His majesty—to open the door of bounty through His name and bestow from His hidden and treasured gifts. It is hoped that in this radiant springtime, when the world hath been adorned through the power and blessing of the rains of grace and bounty, this mention may be accepted and this prayer answered. Verily, He is the Hearer, the Answerer.
BH09620: O my God and my Lord! By Your Command…
He is the Hearing and the Answering
O my God and my Lord! By Your Command that has encompassed all created things, and by Your Name through which You have subdued all contingent beings, I beseech You to ordain for this leaf of Yours the best of both worlds. O Lord! You see her adorned with the ornament of Your love, turning to the horizon of Your grace, gazing upon the seat of Your throne, and speaking Your praise. I beseech You by the ocean of Your knowledge and the heaven of Your wisdom to assist her in preserving what You have bestowed upon her through Your bounty and generosity. Verily, You are He Whom nothing can frustrate and no affair can defeat. You do and command as You please, and You are indeed the Truth, the Almighty, the Powerful. Within Your grasp lies the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.
BH09418: God testifieth that there is none other God but…
He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
God testifieth that there is none other God but Him, and He Who hath come with the truth is indeed the Lord of the Kingdom and the Sovereign of the Realm of Might. He hath manifested Himself to establish that which is in the Books of God, the Self-Subsisting, the All-Compelling. He it is Who hath aided His servants and handmaidens in that whereby their remembrance shall endure through My Name, the One Who speaketh from His praiseworthy station. O My leaf! O My handmaiden! What thou didst send hath been accepted before the Wronged One, and We have spent it in My path and have mentioned thee with that which shall endure as long as the names of thy Lord, the Possessor of what was and what shall be, shall endure. The glory be upon thee and upon every handmaiden who hath turned and attained unto this Decisive News.
BH09288: O Lord! Preserve me through Thy sovereignty and power…
…O Lord! Preserve me through Thy sovereignty and power among Thy righteous servants. O Lord! Make me to be as Thou lovest and art well-pleased with, and leave me not to my idle fancies. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Choosing. O Lord! Draw me through the breezes of Thy revelation in such wise that I may be set ablaze with Thy name amidst all worlds, and that every soul may find from me the warmth of Thy love and the radiance of Thy Cause. O Lord! By Thy glory, life is beloved if it ends in service to Thee and is spent in Thy path; and apart from this I love it not, nay rather, I utterly renounce it. O Lord! Make me a servant of Thy Cause, then accept me through Thy grace and bounty. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful in whatsoever Thou willest, and Thou art the Self-Subsisting, the All-Compelling….
BH09227: Verily, the Remembrance crieth aloud: “O concourse…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great.
Verily, the Remembrance crieth aloud: “O concourse of the Bayan! Fear the All-Merciful and be not of the wrongdoers. Remember My counsels, then look upon that which hath been sent down in My noble Book. By My life! Ye shall find therein naught but the mention of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed, through Whose remembrance the Kingdom of the Bayan hath been set in motion and hath found a tongue within the realm of being. There is none other God but Me, the Wronged One, the Alone. We have confined all matters to the service of the Cause; We have brought to the dwellers of heaven the glad-tidings of the Lord of Names, and unto the inhabitants of the realm of existence the advent of the All-Merciful. Yet today We behold the people in manifest error.”
Thus did the Primal Point speak forth. We heard His utterance and have sent it unto thee, that thou mayest be of them that are firmly rooted [in faith]. By My life! The concourse of the Bayan have broken the Covenant of God and His Testament, save such as have laid fast hold upon the hem of My luminous robe.
BH09292: O worldly scholar, dust be upon thy head! How…
He is the Mighty!
O worldly scholar, dust be upon thy head! How strange that contrary matters are witnessed in thee: the oppressor became oppressed, the oppressed became oppressor. Yahya […] committed treachery against the purity of the Point and martyred His Holiness the Dayyan, and named him and His Holiness Khalil as the “father of evils” and “father of calamities.” By the life of God, he intended to martyr this Wronged One. Through pure grace and bounty I departed from among those souls. I left him and his followers safe and sound and departed. Alas, alas! Through consultation with Siyyid Muhammad Isfahani, he sent Ahmad’s mother to the palace in pursuit of worldly gain. By this did my heart and pen and honored servants lament.
BH09346: A remembrance from Us to him who hath believed…
He is the Speaking One, the Witness, the All-Informed
A remembrance from Us to him who hath believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, and to her who hath believed—verily He is the Forgiving, the Bountiful. O My handmaiden! Hearken unto the call of God. Verily it hath been raised in truth, but most of the people are heedless. They have denied the bounty of God after its bestowal and have broken His Covenant by following every heedless doubter. We make mention of Our handmaidens who have heard and turned unto the Mighty, the Wise, and have drunk the choice wine of life from the cup of the bounty of their Lord, the Merciful. Thus have the rains of grace poured down and the sun of justice shone forth from the horizon of this heaven which hath been raised up in truth through this Name, the Powerful, the Trustworthy. Set aside what is with the people and take what thou hast been commanded in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH09361: May my spirit be a sacrifice for your honor!…
He is God, exalted be His station!
May my spirit be a sacrifice for your honor! At this moment, when four and a half hours have passed from the night, they summoned me and instructed me to write a greeting to his honor the Name, stating that regarding the chest we requested—and it was decided to write to Shaykh Muhammad-Ali—by command write to Aqa Muhammad-Ali of Isfahan, since it was his initial intention, and then it was considered that perhaps Aqa Muhammad-ʿAli would be hurt, therefore request it from him as it is preferable and more beloved.
They also instructed: Write in the Name of God that in all matters they should be mindful of the dignity of the Cause. Whatever gives off the odor of detracting from the Cause, abstaining from it is necessary. Thus does the Wronged One counsel thee with the truth, and verily He is the Commander, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH09493: In My Name, the All-Bountiful
In My Name, the All-Bountiful.
We have illumined the lands with the sun of Our Most Glorious Name, and have adorned the heaven with this luminary whereby all the horizons have been made to shine. How many a servant beholdeth the light and yet fleeth, carried away by idle fancies and vain imaginings; and how many a servant hath gazed upon the Greatest Sign, hastened unto the Most Exalted Horizon, and attained unto that which God, the Lord of being, hath willed.
It behoveth every soul in this Day to hold fast unto the Most Firm Cord, to that which hath been enjoined from the presence of God, the Lord of all that is. We have heard thy cry, have sent down for thee this Tablet, and have despatched it unto thee that thou mayest be of the thankful and mayest say at all times:
Praised be Thou, O God of all existence, and unto Thee be thanksgiving, O Lord of all the worlds.
BH09494: In My Most Great Name
In My Most Great Name.
The fragrance of the garment hath been stirred, and the sincere have confessed the holiness of God, the One, the All-Informed. Whoso hath inhaled it, him hath the attraction of the love of God so seized that he hath turned with his whole being unto God, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Blessed is he that hath recognized and attained; and woe betide every far-removed denier.
Say: O people of existence! By God, the All-Merciful hath come with a sovereignty that hath encompassed all who are in the heavens and on the earth. Turn ye unto Him with hearts made luminous, and be not of the heedless.
Verily, We have sent down the verses in every matter and have diversified the Book, yet the people are in manifest delusion. Thus hath My Most Exalted Pen spoken, as a favour from His presence, that thou mayest rejoice and give thanks unto thy Lord, the All-Bountiful.
Glory be upon thee, and upon such as have turned and quaffed of My radiant wine.
BH09502: Say: My God, my God! Praise be to Thee…
He is the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting
Say: My God, my God! Praise be to Thee for having created me and sustained me, and made me to know Thy mighty utterance and Thy straight path, and given me to drink from the Kawthar of Thy knowledge through the hands of Thy bounty. O my Lord! I am Thy servant and the son of Thy servant. I beseech Thee by the Light which hath shone forth and gleamed, and by the waves of the ocean of Thy utterance, that Thou write down for me through Thy Most Exalted Pen the good of this world and the world to come. By Thy might, O God of the world and Desire of the nations! I love naught but what Thou lovest, and desire naught but what Thou desirest. I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which all names have bowed down, that Thou aid me in that which will cause Thy Cause to be exalted amongst Thy creation and Thy remembrance amongst Thy servants. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.
BH09536: In My Name, the Self-Subsisting
In My Name, the Self-Subsisting
A Book sent down by the Lord of Utterance, that perchance the people of possibility may draw nigh unto God, the Single, the All-Informed. Verily, she who hath heard and turned unto Him is assuredly among the denizens of the chambers in a noble Tablet. And she who hath turned away hath no portion in this Dawn wherein the world hath been illumined by the lights of the countenance of God, the Mighty, the Wise. O My handmaiden! When thou hearest the melody of My Pen and the cry of My heart, render thanks unto thy Lord for having sent down unto thee this clear Tablet. By the life of God! He remembereth whosoever hath turned toward God and held fast to His sure cord. Neither prison can withhold Him from God, nor can the hosts of earth frighten Him. He is, verily, the Strong, the Trustworthy. The splendor of God rest upon those who have cast away idle fancies and attained unto the light of certitude.
BH09562: Unto God belongeth a Word which, were it…
He is the One established upon the Throne.
Unto God belongeth a Word which, were it to shine forth from its horizon, thou wouldst behold as the sun in its splendour and as fire enkindled. At one time We behold it flowing like water; at another We perceive it speaking in the midmost heart of the realms of air. Again We see it as a sword, and yet again as the lightning. Verily, thy Lord is the All-Powerful, the Unconstrained.
How many a matter have We concealed, and how many a decree have We enjoined upon all, as a favour from God, the Cleaver of the dawn. We have commanded no soul unto aught save that which shall profit it in the kingdoms of earth and heaven, that thereto may bear witness the Lord of being.
Remember, then, thy Lord, and give thanks unto Him for that which He hath sent down unto thee, whereby the eyes are solaced. Rejoice in My remembrance of thee; verily, it shall avail thee in every world of the worlds of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.
BH09616: O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory…
He is the Commander, the All-Knowing
O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory and My mercy. The letters which were addressed to Javad, upon him be My glory, were presented by this servant before His presence. Praise be to God, they bore faithful witness to thy devotion, thy turning to God and thy steadfastness.
O My Afnan! We have heard thy call and that wherewith thou didst commune with God. We bear witness that thou hast been faithful to God’s Covenant and His Testament, and hast arisen to serve His Cause. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Be thou thankful that We have mentioned thee before and after, and hold fast unto that which hath been revealed in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds. Upon thee be glory, and upon My Afnans who have held fast to the cord of God and clung to His resplendent hem.
BH09627: O My handmaiden! I make mention of thee…
In the Name of the Friend, the Kind One!
O My handmaiden! I make mention of thee in this station that joy and gladness may take possession of thee in such wise that thou wilt remember Him Who hath been made a captive in the hands of the oppressors. By the life of God! Were anyone to become aware of what befell Me in the previous year, he would surely weep and lament. Thy Lord is verily the Concealer, the Forbearing. We have concealed that which We witnessed and have shown patience in what We heard. Thy Lord is verily the All-Bountiful. By the life of God! Sorrows did not overtake Me when I was a prisoner in the hands of the wicked ones, but I grieve when I behold that which befitteth not this glorious and wondrous Day. Be thou therefore thankful unto thy Lord for having mentioned thee in the Most Great Paradise—the station wherein everything therein proclaimeth that there is none other God besides Him, the Mighty, the All-Praised.
BH11901: The Wronged One testifieth that thou didst turn thyself…
He is the One Who shineth from the horizon of power.
The Wronged One testifieth that thou didst turn thyself unto the Sacred Place and the Station, and didst visit the Sacred House of God. Blessed art thou, inasmuch as that which the All-Merciful hath sent down in the Qur’an—“The pilgrimage to the House is a duty unto God for all who are able to make the journey thither”—hath attracted thee. Thou didst leave thy home, turning toward the House of God, and didst traverse land and sea until thou didst arrive and witness and attain and circumambulate. We beseech God to make thy deed a light unto thee and a treasure and an honor unto thee. Verily, He is the Lord of all created things and the Lord of the Throne on high and of the dust below. There is none other God but Him, the Most Exalted, the Most High.
BH10044: O Mother of the friends! Hear thou the call…
He is the One speaking from the Supreme Horizon!
O Mother of the friends! Hear thou the call of the Lord of Names from the direction of the Prison. He hath turned toward thee and maketh mention of thee. A Name of Mine, upon him be My glory, hath expressed satisfaction with thee. Thy services, one and all, are remembered before the Throne. Nothing whatsoever escapeth His knowledge. We beseech Him to grant thee the reward of thy deeds and to ordain for thee what He hath ordained for the people of the tabernacle of His glory. Rejoice thou in this glad-tidings wherewith the Tongue of Grandeur hath gladdened thee from His glorious and resplendent station. The glory be upon thee and upon thy children. We counsel them to be steadfast and to preserve what We have ordained for them. Verily thy Lord is the Ordainer, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH10058: In My Name that speaketh in the Kingdom…
In My Name that speaketh in the Kingdom of Utterance
O thou who gazest upon the Countenance and art mentioned before the Throne! Say:
My God, my God! Praise be unto Thee for having remembered me in the prison of ʿAkka and for having sent down unto me that which hath attracted the realities of all things. I beseech Thee, O my God, by the standards of Thy guidance and the banners of Thy utterance, and by the hearts which have been set ablaze with the fire of separation from Thee in Thy days, and by the tears of the lovers throughout all regions, and by the appearance of Thy Cause on the Day of the Covenant, to ordain for me from Thy Most Glorious Pen the good of the world to come and of this world. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.
BH09806: This is a letter from the Wronged One…
In the Name of the Kind Lord!
This is a letter from the Wronged One of the horizons to one of the handmaidens of God, that she may hear the Word of Truth and act according to what is befitting in this Day. Blessed is the handmaiden who has attained to faith and acted according to what she was commanded by the All-Merciful. O handmaiden of God! Your sister who dwells in the prison was present before the Throne and beseeched that the divine Word might shine forth upon that handmaiden, that is, that wondrous and sublime verses might be sent down from the heaven of God’s Will. Therefore We responded and sent these exalted words. Be thou grateful and say: Praise be to Thee, O Quickener of the worlds!
BH09863: Glorified art Thou, O God of existence and Educator…
He is the Speaker from the horizon of the Prison.
Glorified art Thou, O God of existence and Educator of the seen and unseen! This is a leaf from among the leaves of the Tree of Thy Cause who responded when Thy call was raised, and turned unto Thee when the light of Thy Revelation shone forth. I beseech Thee by the Word through which the sincere hastened to the place of sacrifice in Thy days, and by the mysteries of Thy Book and the pearls of the ocean of Thy knowledge, to assist her to remember Thee and praise Thee and to stand firm in Thy Cause. Then ordain for her what Thou hast ordained for Thy handmaidens who circle round the throne of Thy grandeur. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over what Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
BH10045: O My handmaiden! Hear My call from the precincts…
He is the One Who speaks in the Kingdom of Utterance!
O My handmaiden! Hear My call from the precincts of My prison. Verily, there is no God but Him, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. When thou hast attained unto His utterance and found the fragrance of His garment, say:
“My God, my God! Praise be to Thee for having guided Thy handmaidens to Thy straight path, when most of Thy servants and creatures turned away from it. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by the fruits of the Tree of Thy utterance in the garden of Thy knowledge, to strengthen this handmaiden of Thine in Thy remembrance and praise and in steadfastness in Thy Cause. O my Lord! Ordain for her that which will abide with her in every world of Thy worlds. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the Almighty, and worthy to answer prayer.”
BH10136: O Mahd, O members of the Household! Tonight, after…
He is the Extoller, the All-Knowing!
O Mahd, O members of the Household! Tonight, after supper, the portal of bounty was opened and the Wronged One engaged in mentioning you. This day is different from other days and this time is likewise different. Please God, ye may attain that Light which is preserved from extinction and that Bounty which mortality overtaketh not. Glory be upon you from God, the Most Mighty, the Most Praised. As God loves unity and togetherness, We mentioned all on one page.
BH09983: A Tablet revealed by the Beloved that through it…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great.
A Tablet revealed by the Beloved that through it may be set ablaze the hearts of those who have cast away their desires and taken hold of that which was commanded them by God, the Lord of existence. They who have grasped the cord of God, these are the people of this exalted station. O My handmaiden! Rejoice in that My Most Exalted Pen makes mention of thee. Verily it shall profit thee in the realm of earth and heaven. Beware lest anything withhold thee from God and His sovereignty. Hold fast unto the cord of God, then make mention of Him by His Name, the Protector of all that is seen and unseen. Thus hath My tongue spoken and My Pen moved. Verily thy Lord is the Powerful over what was and what shall be.
BH09735: O my God, my God! Have mercy upon Thy…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer!
O my God, my God! Have mercy upon Thy servants, both men and women, and withhold them not from the Furat of Thy mercy which hath flowed in Thy days in the garden of inner meanings by Thy command. O Lord! They are servants who have turned unto Thee, detached from all else save Thee. Send down, therefore, upon them and upon Thy handmaidens, from the clouds of the heaven of Thy bounty, that which will preserve them from all except Thee. O Lord! Thou seest how the people of the Bayan have broken Thy Covenant, shattered Thy Testament, and turned away from Thy Beauty. I beseech Thee by the Most Great Ocean which surgeth through Thy Name, and by the fragrance of Thy garment which hath been diffused in Thy days, to preserve Thy servants and handmaidens through Thy power and sovereignty. There is no God but Thee, the Omnipotent, the Almighty.
BH10054: In My Name, the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful!
In My Name, the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful!
O thou resplendent Leaf and fruit of My Lote-Tree beyond which there is no passing! Grieve not over the hardships of the world. Rather, rejoice in that which God’s will hath preceded what thou didst desire. Verily thy Lord is the All-Bountiful, the All-Knowing. Thou hast at all times been under the glances of grace and beneath the canopies of bounty and justice. Blessed art thou and blessed are My handmaidens who have recognized thy station before the Wronged One and thy relationship unto Him. The glory of God be upon thee and upon those who are with thee and upon him who hath journeyed unto God and upon his mother who is mentioned before the Throne.
BH09851: In My Name, Manifest and Speaking before the faces…
In My Name, Manifest and Speaking before the faces of all
Praise be to Thee, O My God! Thou seest me aflame with the fire of separation from Thee, after Thou didst cause me to be drawn to Thy verses in the days of meeting with Thee. I beseech Thee, O Refuge of existence and Lord of the unseen and the seen, to ordain for me through the pen of Thy grace that which will honor me with meeting Thee once again. Verily, Thou art the Master of all beings. Then I beseech Thee, O Thou Goal of the world and Beloved of the nations, to open before my face and the faces of them that love Thee the gates of Thy grace, Thy mercy, Thy favor and Thy blessing. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Conquering, the Omnipotent.
BH10090: O ʿAli! Remember when thou didst turn to God…
O ʿAli! Remember when thou didst turn to God and set thy face toward His Countenance in days wherein feet did slip. Blessed is the servant who hath drunk from the ocean of attainment unto His presence and hath witnessed that which the Tongue of Grandeur witnessed in the earliest days. Be thou steadfast in the Cause in such wise that the veils of those who have denied the Source and the Return shall not withhold thee. We counsel thee with that wherewith We counseled thee before, through which this Cause shall be exalted—the Cause before which, when it is made manifest, necks shall bow low. And We make mention of thy son who hath turned toward God, the Lord of Lords. Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them unto thee, that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting.
BH10084: O Shu’a’! Praised be God, thou art mentioned…
He is the All-Bountiful
O Shu’a’! Praised be God, thou art mentioned in the presence of the Wronged One. Each of the various branches of learning is a beautiful veil for the temple of existence. Thou shouldst not be remiss in acquiring that which will conduce to progress and advancement. Knowledge is the light of the world. Blessed is he who is not deprived of its radiance and splendor. Knowledge is the life of the world and the adornment of nations. Knowledge is the treasure of existence and the gift of God, the Mighty, the Loving. God willing, mayest thou be possessed of zeal and enthusiasm and not be remiss in acquiring virtues. Convey My greetings to the Afnans—upon them be the favor and bounty of God—and likewise to the loved ones. Khavar is mentioned. The Glory be upon you.
BH10101: O Pen! Make mention of him who turned…
O Pen! Make mention of him who turned to the ocean of utterance when the Most Exalted Horizon appeared with this Name whereby the tribes have lamented and eyes have been startled. O Faraj! Relief hath come from God, yet the people are in strange delusion. They have shattered the idols of vain desire through the Name of the Lord of all beings and have held fast to the Sure Handle in this Day wherein the Nightingale hath warbled upon the branches. Beware lest the conditions of creation veil thee. Leave behind all mention and cling to the hem of the grace of this Most Great Remembrance, Who hath come with the truth and hath spoken in every state that there is none other God but He, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.
BH10037: O Ahmad! God assist thee and make thee successful…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful.
O Ahmad! God assist thee and make thee successful until He brought thee to the Most Great Prison where thou didst behold the Wronged One and didst hear what His Tongue uttered in remembrance of God, the Lord of all worlds. We bear witness even as His Prophets and His chosen ones have borne witness that there is none other God but Him, the One, the Single, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. We counsel thee and those who have believed to fear God and to that whereby His Cause, the Mighty, the Wondrous, may be exalted. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to make His loved ones successful and to draw them nigh unto Him at all times. Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH10108: O Muhammad-Qabli-Ali! Hearken unto the call of Him Who…
O Muhammad-Qabli-Ali! Hearken unto the call of Him Who hath been wronged. He remembereth thee from the blessed Spot, and commandeth thee to that which will exalt the Cause of God, the Lord of the seen and the unseen. The promise hath come to pass, and the Lord of Eternity hath appeared with a sovereignty before which all the hosts cannot stand. Render thanks unto God for having remembered thee by His Most Exalted Pen on this darksome night. Prostrate thyself and say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O Thou in Whose grasp are the reins of all things!”
We make mention of thy son who hath been named Abdu’l-Husayn, as a token of grace from Us in this forbidden place. Hold thou fast unto the Sure Handle and cleave unto the hem of the bounty of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.
BH09997: The glance of God’s favor is directed…
In the Name of the One Friend!
The glance of God’s favor is directed to that honored one. God is witness and creation bears testimony that this Wronged One has sought for the Afnan of the Divine Lote-Tree that which He has sought for Himself. Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou seest me clinging to the cord of Thy grace and holding fast to the hem of Thy bounty. I beseech Thee by the verses which, when they shone forth from the horizon of Thy utterance, caused all other verses to bow down before them, to gather together for me the means of earth and heaven that I may arise to serve Thy Cause among Thy servants, to exalt Thy Word, and to manifest that which lay hidden in Thy knowledge. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth, by Thy Name, the Mighty, the Wondrous.
BH10102: O Kalim, O my brother! Lethargy has exceeded all…
He is the Healer
O Kalim, O my brother! Lethargy has exceeded all bounds. Arise, remove this inappropriate quilt. As the late minister said, “Be gone!” Remember your former work. Cease from meaningless complaints of illness. According to the blessed saying, “Return and give a cup!” Speak forth! Surely this suits your pleasure and agrees with your appetite. But be not deceived—this wine is spirit-giving, not hangover-inducing. It increases the search and brings perpetual awareness. Time has exceeded its limits yet the first answer has not arrived. This time too it is unknown. Peace and glory be upon you, upon your first and your last, and upon those who love you.
BH10035: Turn your face, O wronged one, to Him Who…
Turn your face, O wronged one, to Him Who hath mentioned thy name in prison, that thou mayest rejoice through the bounty of God, the Goal of all worlds. O Muhammad! He Who is imprisoned remembereth thee with a remembrance that all the treasures of the earth cannot equal, if thou be of them that understand. Cast behind thee the names of them who have debarred men from God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, and hold fast unto the cord of the Most Great Name, whereby the world hath been illumined and all things have proclaimed: The kingdom of earth and heaven belongeth to Him Who hath come with manifest sovereignty. They that have turned away—these have no standing with God. They shall soon return to their abode. Thus hath the matter been decreed by the Pen of the Ancient of Days from the presence of the Mighty, the Powerful.
BH10100: O Qasim! He Who is encompassed by sorrows due…
O Qasim! He Who is encompassed by sorrows due to what the hands of those who disbelieved in thy Lord, the Most Merciful, have wrought, makes mention of thee at this hour. Were anyone to become aware of what hath befallen the One, the Single, he would lament as one bereft until the Hour that hath been ordained by God, the Lord of Lords. Is there anyone who pondereth upon the mercy of God? Verily, He hath remembered and remembereth all who have believed in this Day wherein the pillars of what is present have been shaken. There is no name but that We have sent down for it that which brings delight to the eyes. Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them to those who have believed in God, the Lord of all mankind.
BH10079: He warbleth upon the branches
He warbleth upon the branches
O Rahim! Know that My Pen hath found no rest or repose at any time. Its shrill voice hath been raised and hath summoned all unto God, the Lord of the worlds. The tongue speaketh and the heart calleth out and the fingers point, but most of the people are heedless. Their ears have been prevented from hearkening to the melodies of revelation and their eyes from this gracious scene. Blessed is the one who, strong in My Name, hath rent asunder the veils and witnessed what God, the Lord of the heavens and earths, hath witnessed. Glory be upon the people of Glory who have not been kept back by names from God, the One, the All-Informed.
BH10069: O people of God! Be not grieved. Praise be…
…O people of God! Be not grieved. Praise be to God, hearts and souls are pure and sanctified, for they have never harbored thoughts of harming anyone and hold fast to this most great verse revealed in the Most Holy Book from the sacred Kingdom: “Consort with all religions with joy and fragrance.” O Zayn! Whoso is for God, God is for him. These days shall not endure. All must occupy themselves with reforming the world, refining the nations, and teaching God’s Cause with joy, fragrance, wisdom and utterance. Soon will the signs of power become manifest and evident throughout all regions of the world….
BH09732: Praise be to God Who sent down the names…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Greatness and the Power!
Praise be to God Who sent down the names from heaven and adorned the preamble of the Book of Creation with His Most Exalted Name. And prayers and peace be upon the Seal of the Prophets, he for whom God made this world like a ring upon his finger which He turns however He pleases, and upon his family and companions who, by His command, aided the Faith of God until the banner of faith was raised upon the highest realm of possibility. We have named her whom God has given distinction among all created things. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to bless her appearance among you and to make her a blessing from Him unto you. Verily, He is the One with power over whatsoever He willeth. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Bestower.
BH09733: Praise be to God Who hath sent down upon…
He is God, exalted is He!
Praise be to God Who hath sent down upon us from the heaven of bounty His favors and bestowals time after time. I bear witness, O my God, my Lord, my Support, that Thou didst once bestow the blessing of beholding, and yet another time the blessing of hearing, then Thou didst bestow in these days the blessing of existence which Thou granted through Thy generosity and bounty. I beseech Thee, O my God, to make him and those with him Thy trustees in Thy lands and Thy signs among Thy creation. And we beseech Thee to name him in the Book of Names “The Exalted” that those with him may rejoice thereby. Then ordain for them, O my God, what Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones and Thy loved ones. Verily, Thou art the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
BH09810: Thou knowest, O My God, that I desire naught…
He is the One Who Hearest, and is Ready to Answer
Thou knowest, O My God, that I desire naught in Thy Dominion save to better the condition of the world and improve the charater of peoples of different nations, that haply the fire of hatred may be quenched with the waters of Thy providence, and the glorious light of unity may shine forth by Thy nurturing grace and wisdom.
O God! Aid Thou the rulers of the world and its learned ones to accept that which Thou commandest them by Thy bounty and Thy loving kindness, and teach them that which Thou didst desire for them by Thy grace, and uncover before them Thy clear and straight path, and Thy manifest and transcendent Cause. O God! Ordain for Thy loved ones, through Thy Most Exalted Pen, that which shall profit them in this present world and in the next. Thou art the Lord of all men and the Lord of the throne on high and of earth below.
BH09823: The remembrance of God hath appeared in truth…
He is the Sanctified above all things!
The remembrance of God hath appeared in truth, and He is the Ancient Sender-down. My Most Exalted Pen hath testified to My finger, and verily it testifieth to My power, the Sovereign over all the worlds. My limbs have borne witness to My sovereignty, but the people are in manifest blindness. The breast of the world hath been dilated through the manifestation of My Most Great Name—to this every fair-minded one possessed of knowledge doth testify. We have heard the call of those who have turned to God, and We have answered them as a bounty from Our presence, and verily We are the Answerer. He prayeth for those who have attained unto the most great steadfastness in the Cause of God, the Lord of all beings, and He giveth them glad tidings of the most exalted Paradise and the All-Highest Station. He, verily, is the All-Knowing Herald.
BH09839: Glorified be He Who made friendship an ornament…
In the Name of the Bountiful, the All-Witnessing
Glorified be He Who made friendship an ornament and adorned therewith the temple of man. Blessed be the All-Merciful Who chose affliction for the benefit of all the worlds. He hath accepted every tribulation for the exaltation of God’s Cause, and every hardship for the ease of the world, and every sorrow for the joy of those who are in the heavens and on earth. Say: Beware lest ye cloud the pure wine of understanding. Turn with radiant faces unto the Dayspring of My most great signs. Thus doth the Lord of Names command you from this mighty Prison. We have made glory an ornament for your souls and truthfulness a crown for your heads. Preserve them through My Name, the All-Powerful, the Almighty. Blessed is he who hath heeded the counsel of God, and woe unto them that turn away.
