Volume 106: Akka 1868–1892 year unknown, Part IV (2 of 4)
BH05793: The world is a manifest book which, at every…
In the name of the Lord of the Kingdom of Names! From the Prison of ʿAkka.
The world is a manifest book which, at every moment, has borne and continues to bear witness to its own transience. Indeed, from the beginning of the world until now it has proclaimed “Depart! Depart!” and with most eloquent utterance declares: “O servants! Observe the changes in me. At times I appear in the darkness of night, and at other times in the light of dawn. My trees are sometimes seen in the fullness of greenness and freshness, and sometimes appear yellow, withered and dry.
Take heed, O ye whose sable hair should counsel bring; Take heed, O ye whose hoary cheeks are blossoming!
Old age and youth, death and life are heralds on His behalf, making all aware of the end of all things. Blessed is the state of one who has detached himself from it and attached himself to the Truth. O my handmaiden and my leaf! All things, in one station, are heralds of the Truth among the servants. Nevertheless, heedlessness has encompassed the whole world, save those whom thy Lord, the All-Merciful, the Most Generous, has willed. Say:
Praise be to Thee, O Thou the Goal of the world, for having guided me to Thy path and remembered me in Thy prison. I beseech Thee to assist me to be steadfast in Thy love. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Generous.
BH05933: O Ahmad! Behold the grace of God like unto…
In the name of the one true God!
O Ahmad! Behold the grace of God like unto the sun. When it shines forth, its rays encompass all the world. Every word that hath appeared from the horizon of the Will of the Lord of Oneness—its effulgences encompass all the friends. Be thou assured of thy Lord’s grace, for He hath mentioned in an imperishable Book, preserved in both the earthly and heavenly kingdoms, all who have turned unto Him. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Praise be to God that thy father circumambulates [the Sacred House], and this is a most exalted station. He makes mention of thee before His presence, and of those who have believed in God, the Mighty, the Praised. Convey to all the friends in that land the greetings from God, and give them the glad-tidings of His favors and bounties, that they may all attain supreme joy in these divine days.
We send greetings from this spot to the faces of My servants and handmaidens there and in other lands. Verily grace hath encompassed all existence and mercy hath preceded all who are in the heavens and on earth. Glory be upon thee, upon thy mother, thy sister, thy kindred, and upon those who have sought the Ultimate Goal and the Supreme Summit, and have drunk the choice sealed wine through My Name, the Mighty, the Wondrous.
BH05703: This Wronged One makes mention, for the sake…
He is the One dawning from the horizon of the heaven of bounty.
This Wronged One makes mention, for the sake of God, of those who have turned towards Him, and commands that which will profit them and exalt them. Man should fix his gaze upon that which is the source of his glory, elevation and loftiness, and this cannot be attained except through goodly deeds and praiseworthy character. Time and again this word has flowed from the Pen: through one word and one pure deed, the earth has transcended the heavens. We hope that all may attain to that which is the cause of the acceptance of souls and the harmony of hearts.
O Muhammad-Hasan! Zaynu’l-Muqarrabin, upon him be My glory and loving-kindness, forwarded thy letter to the presence of this Wronged One, and this Tablet has been revealed in thy name. Give thanks unto thy Lord for this great bounty and say:
“Suffer me not, O God, my God, to be kept back from the heaven of Thy bounties and the daystar of Thy favors. I beseech Thee by that Word through which Thou hast subdued all things visible and invisible to assist me and to assist Thy chosen ones to accomplish that which shall exalt Thy Cause amidst Thy servants and throughout Thy regions. Do Thou ordain for me, then, every good thing which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.”
The glory be upon thee and upon thy son and upon those who have believed in God, the One, the All-Informed.
BH06001: O leaf! God willing, may you ever remain firm…
In the Name of the All-Seeing Speaker.
O leaf! God willing, may you ever remain firm in the Blessed Tree which, before the faces of all, speaks forth the Most Great Word, in such wise that the tempestuous winds shall not prevent you, nor shall the barking ones and deniers deprive you of the manifest light. Say: O Lord, my Goal, my Beloved! This handmaiden of Thine testifies that Thou didst raise her from utter nothingness to the robe of existence and immortality. Now I beseech Thee to withhold not the hand from taking hold of the Tablet, nor deprive the eye from beholding Thy signs. O Peerless, Generous One! Illumine the heart with the light of Thy love and deprive not the temple from the adorning grace of Thy bounty. Thy handmaiden hath turned toward the door of Thy grace and with a hundred thousand tongues renders thanks to Thee, for Thou hast blessed her with Thy blessed word “O My handmaiden.” O Lord! Grant unto Thy handmaidens that which befitteth Thy generosity and beseemeth Thy bounty and grace. They have none besides Thee and have taken no lord except Thee. Thou art the Ocean of Generosity and the Heaven of Bounty. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Loving.
BH05975: O noble master and distinguished presence! The servant has…
He is God, exalted be His station, the Greatness and the Glory
O noble master and distinguished presence! The servant has been favored by your verses and I beseech the Most High that through them He may reform the order of the world and the laws of nations, for they were as pure gold from the mine of the love of God. Praise be to God, you have spent all your days in praise of the Lord of Names. A hundred thousand lifetimes could not and will not equal a single hour of your life, for it was and is spent in praise and glorification of God.
We beseech the True One to confirm all in that which is befitting and worthy. And furthermore, the pearls of the sea of your love were presented before His face and were favored with the glance of His grace. He said:
“God willing, may he be confirmed. O Nabil! We have heard what you uttered and presented and sent, and We pronounce Our greater blessing upon you and upon My loved ones and upon him who was named with your name and upon him who is with him and upon every traveler who has migrated in the path of God, the Protecting, the Self-Subsisting. Praise be to God, the King of this promised Day.”
End. With utmost sincerity I extend greetings to each of the masters and beloved ones who are blessed and honored with the love and remembrance of God. Glory be upon your presence and upon them.
The servant
BH05884: A Book sent down in truth from God…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer.
A Book sent down in truth from God, the Lord of the worlds. Verily there is no God but Him. He doeth what He willeth and ordaineth what He pleaseth. He is the Single, the One, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Blessed is He Who hath sent down the verses as a grace from His presence, for He is the All-Bountiful, the All-Generous. Not a thing escapeth His knowledge. He witnesseth and seeth, for He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. O thou who art mentioned before the Wronged One, hear My call. It draweth thee nigh unto God, the Mighty, the Loving. The might of the servants hindereth it not, as attesteth His perspicuous Book.
O Abdullah, give thanks unto thy Lord for having turned toward thee the countenance of the Ancient of Days from the direction of His Most Great Prison, and for having mentioned thee in such wise that nothing in existence can equal it. Thus hath the Tongue spoken in the kingdom of utterance as a bounty from God, the Lord of the worlds. Take My Book from the hand of My loving-kindness and say: My God, my God! Thine is the giving and Thine the glory, for Thou hast sent down upon this servant of Thine, from the heaven of Thy Will, the verses of Thy grandeur. I beseech Thee by Thy sovereignty that hath encompassed the world to ordain for me that which shall profit me in every world of Thy worlds. Verily Thou art the All-Bountiful, the All-Generous. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH05644: Praise be to God Who hath aided us…
In the name of God, Lord of the Supreme Throne!
Praise be to God Who hath aided us to recognize the Dawning-Place of His signs, the Dayspring of His evidences, the Manifestation of His commandments and the Source of His laws—He through Whom was revealed that which lay hidden in knowledge and concealed from eyes and sight. And praise be to God Who hath sent down from the clouds of His bounty the table of His knowledge and ordained for whoso turneth unto it an exalted station in the highest Paradise. We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to open before the faces of His loved ones the gates of His grace and mercy. Verily He is the All-Bountiful, the All-Generous. We have heard thy call and have answered thee through this remembrance and this perspicuous Tablet. Say:
My God, my God! Thou seest me turning toward Thee and voicing Thy praise. I beseech Thee to assist me in that which Thou hast commanded me in Thy Mighty Book, and to send down upon me from the heaven of Thy generosity a blessing from Thy presence and a grace from Thy side. Verily Thou art the Giver, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
We have desired to seal this Tablet with mention of one of the handmaidens of God, that she may thank her Lord, the Compassionate, the Generous. O handmaiden of God! We have heard thy call and make mention of thee with that which draweth the servants and handmaidens nigh unto God, the One, the All-Informed. Peace be upon thee from the Wronged One, and upon those handmaidens who have acknowledged the unity of God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH05678: We make mention of My handmaiden who hath circled…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious
We make mention of My handmaiden who hath circled round the Throne, who hath believed in God and soared in the atmosphere of My love and drunk the choice wine of My bounty and attained unto faith in My days and turned with her heart toward the precincts of My prison and the seat of My throne and My most great horizon wherefrom My call was raised and from whose horizon shone forth the sun of My grace. Blessed are My handmaidens who have drawn nigh and found and partaken and drunk by My Name, which dominateth the kingdom of My names and is exalted above the remembrance of My servants. Thus hath My Most Exalted Pen warbled, and verily He is the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the All-Wise.
We make mention of her who was in the presence of My Name—and verily He is the Letter Ha which the Glory mentioneth in this noble station. Blessed is he who hath loved My Name, unto Whose acceptance and arising and mention the atoms themselves have testified on this Day which God hath illumined with the light of His resplendent and luminous Beauty. Upon him be glory, and upon his spouse, and upon those who dwell in his house, and upon thee, O My handmaiden, and upon those who love him with a love for God, the Lord of the worlds. We make mention of all My handmaidens in this Tablet, verily We have been mindful of them. Blessed are ye, O handmaidens of God, inasmuch as ye have drunk the choice wine of certitude from the hands of the bounty of God, the Mighty, the Beautiful.
BH05755: May my spirit be a sacrifice for your honor…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
May my spirit be a sacrifice for your honor. He said:
O My Name! Upon you be My Glory! His honor Afnan, upon him be My Glory, has been and continues to be under the gaze of loving-kindness and stands at the gate in truth. Indeed he has acted in such a way as bears witness to his devotion and detachment. We beseech God to preserve forever this supreme bounty. This is a treasure, sealed with the blessed word “O Preserver!” His mention regarding the person referred to has been accepted, and even if it were fifty thousand we would have accepted it. Convey My greetings and give him the glad tidings of special favors.
This evanescent one, according to the command of my Master His honor Afnan, upon him be 96 [Baha’u’llah] the Most Glorious, after visiting the blessed writing presented himself before His presence and submitted all his requests. Praise be to God, they were honored with acceptance. This servant beseeches God that in all conditions they may attain to all outward and inward bounties. On behalf of this evanescent one, please convey greetings, glory and utter nothingness. The spirit, glory and praise be upon your honor and upon those with you and upon those who love you.
BH05785: God hath borne witness that there is no God…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great.
God hath borne witness that there is no God but He. And He Who now speaketh is, in very truth, the Promised One foretold in My Books and My Scriptures. He verily is the Most Great Path for the world, and the Mother Book in the midst of all nations.
Whoso hearkeneth unto His call is, in the sight of God, the Lord of Names, numbered among the people of the Supreme Paradise; and whoso turneth away is, in the Perspicuous Book, recorded among the idolaters.
Thus hath My Pen been set in motion, thus hath the fragrance of My Utterance surged, and thus hath the Tongue of My majesty and My tender mercy spoken: I am the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful.
O people of cities and of lands! Give ear unto the call of your chosen Lord, Who hath come for the quickening of your souls and hath sent down for you that which was hidden from you and treasured in His manifest Book.
By God! The Book speaketh forth, while most of the people remain heedless. There is naught but We have disclosed it in truth, and there is no command but We have enjoined it upon you from the presence of One Who is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Beware lest the hosts of such as have wrought injustice and denied the bounty of God, the Lord of all worlds, debar you. Cast away that which is in the hands of the people, and hold fast unto the Manifestation of the Name of your Lord, the Self-Subsisting. Act in accordance with that which ye have been commanded in My mighty, My exalted Tablet.
Thus have We illumined the horizon of the Tablet with the Orb of thy Lord, the All-Speaking, the All-Knowing.
BH05843: The Tongue of Revelation hath spoken: Verily, there…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
The Tongue of Revelation hath spoken: Verily, there is none other God but Him, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. This is the Day wherein the trees have yielded their fruits and the seas have surged, yet the people remain in […] manifest. Blessed is he who hath cast away his idle fancies and turned unto […] of the Bayan in the days of his Lord, the Manifest, the Speaker, the All-Knowing. Rejoice thou in what We have sent down unto thee in this Tablet and say: O Thou through Whose Name the horizon of praise was illumined and by Whose Call the people of creation were stirred to motion, ordain that I may stand firm in Thy service, utter Thy remembrance, serve Thy Cause, and act according to what Thou hast sent down in Thy Book.
Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Drink thou the Kawthar of life at all times through this Name whereby the back of the greatest idol was broken and the hearts of those who disbelieved in God, the Lord of all worlds, were consumed. Give thanks unto God through this Remembrance which endureth throughout the duration of the kingdom and the realm on high, and through which the fragrance of utterance was wafted between the heavens and the earth. Glory be unto him who hath taken the chalice of certitude and drunk therefrom, detached from those who disbelieved when God came with manifest sovereignty.
BH05966: O Javad, upon thee be the Glory of God…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
O Javad, upon thee be the Glory of God and His loving-kindness! The letter which the Afnan, upon him be My glory, sent to thee was presented by this servant in the presence of the Wronged One. Praise be to God, it was a truthful testimony and an eloquent witness to his acceptance, devotion, steadfastness and service. We heard his call and saw his sighs in the love of God, the Lord of the worlds. My Most Exalted Pen hath testified for him, both before and after, that he is among the successful ones in a clear Book. Give him glad-tidings from Me that We had given him glad-tidings before in a Tablet from whose horizon shone the sun of the loving-kindness of his Lord, the All-Bountiful.
God willing, may they remain steadfast in serving the Cause at all times and speak forth His remembrance. Soon the earth shall pass away and there shall endure for Him what hath been sent down from the Kingdom of God’s Will, the Most High, the Most Great. What they have written regarding the printing of the book is correct and adorned with the ornament of truth. These matters depend upon time, place, occasion and requirements. In all things they must be mindful of wisdom. Thus have We counseled them before and at this time. Glory be upon him and upon the Afnan in that place who heard the call and answered their Lord, the All-Merciful.
BH05967: O Javad! We have heard your call from your…
He is the Responding, the Beloved!
O Javad! We have heard your call from your letter and illumined its horizon with My remembrance—that remembrance at whose appearance the hearts of those who denied God were troubled while the hearts of those who answered their Lord, the Summoner, the Mighty, the Inaccessible, found peace. We bear witness that you have believed in God and your letter was present before the Throne at the beginning of the Cause. He is verily the Recorder, the Confirmer, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. We have mentioned you in these days, and this is yet another time, as a bounty from God, the Speaker, the Trustworthy. Were I to mention to you that which My heart proclaims, by God’s life, the Concourse on High would lament, as would those who circle round the Temple of God, the Manifest, the Mighty, the Wondrous.
Say: The sun of trustworthiness has been eclipsed and the moon of justice has darkened. Thus does My Most Exalted Pen inform you from this Kingdom […] I have recognized the sorrow of your heart and heard the cry of your soul regarding the Cause of God, the Powerful, the Mighty, the Great. Say: The head of Baha has been adorned with the crown of tribulation and His heart has been troubled by what has befallen the Cause of God, the Lord of the worlds. The glory be upon you and upon those with you, from One Who is grief-stricken, sorrowful, Who walks in this resplendent station.
BH06007: The servant begs his Lord to assist His loved…
The servant begs his Lord to assist His loved ones to do what He loves and is pleased with. If the souls who have accepted the Faith had until now acted according to what God has willed, the earth would now be seen as a different earth. God willing, it is hoped that from now on this servant and all others will be assisted to act according to the good-pleasure of the Friend and occupy ourselves with what is beloved before His presence. Let us not speak before hearing, and not act before being commanded, so that we may be counted among those servants of whom He says:
“They speak not before He speaks, and they act by His command.”
The steadfast souls must today speak that by which hearts are attracted, and all must occupy themselves with teaching the Cause of God. Although the Cause of Truth has never needed and does not need the assistance of others, and will soon become evident like fire upon a mountain, yet souls like this servant who spend their precious lives engaged in forbidden pursuits must become aware through the revealed verses and occupy themselves with teaching the Cause of God, that perchance they may quicken dead souls with the living waters and adorn the heedless with the ornament of awareness. This is the most great deed and the true elixir, and this is the meaning of “good” in its primary reality.
BH06205: God beareth witness that there is none other God…
He is the One Who speaketh from the Divine Lote-Tree.
God beareth witness that there is none other God but Him. He hath appeared and manifested His Cause as He hath willed and desired, and He is the One sought after in the beginning and the end. We make mention of those who have believed in the clear signs whereby the fragrance of the Bayan hath been wafted throughout all creation. Glorified be the All-Merciful, the Manifestation of this momentous News! Thy name was mentioned before the Wronged One, and He hath revealed for thee that which hath caused the sweet savors of the days of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing, to be diffused abroad. We counsel thee and them that have believed to show forth the Greater Steadfastness in this Cause whereby hearts have lamented and livers have melted. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the mention of God and His Tablet. He is indeed among the most exalted of creation in the Books and Tablets. We counsel thee to preserve this station lest every aggressive liar gain knowledge thereof.
When thou hast attained unto the utterance of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, say: Blessed be He Who hath turned toward His servant from the direction of the Prison and revealed unto him that which cannot be equaled by whatsoever is with all mankind. The Glory shining from the horizon of the heaven of favors be upon the people of Baha who have not been frightened by the hosts of the world nor weakened by the power of the wicked ones.
BH06126: Praise be to the King of Eternity Who, through…
He is the Compassionate, the All-Giving, the Generous!
Praise be to the King of Eternity Who, through the Most Great Name, hath illumined the world with a wondrous light and set it ablaze with the fire of the Divine Lote-Tree. The Day is His Day and the Kingdom of might is under His command—exalted be His grandeur and mighty be His proof and evidence. There is none other God but Him.
O Zaynu’l-Abidin! When thou hast received My Tablet and found from it the fragrance of My utterance, say: My God, my God! I beseech Thee by Him Who conversed with Thee on Sinai, Who hath been established upon the throne of Revelation, and by the Call that hath been raised between earth and heaven from the prison of Akka, and by the mysteries of Thy Book and the lights of Thy countenance, to ordain for me that which will exalt me through Thy name amongst Thy creatures. Then send down upon me from the clouds of Thy bounty a blessing from Thee and a favor from Thy presence. Then open before my face the door of Thy might and Thy riches. Verily Thou art the One with power over whatsoever Thou willest, through Thy Name, the All-Compelling over what was and what shall be.
Thy letter hath come before Us. It hath attained an answer, and We have answered thee through this Tablet from whose horizon hath shone the Sun of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the All-Knowing.
BH11651: We have heard thy call and have answered thee…
He is the All-Knowing Speaker!
We have heard thy call and have answered thee through this perspicuous Book at this hour when the ocean of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate, surgeth. We have, of a truth, drawn thee nigh, and thy father, and those who are with you both, as a token of grace from God, the Lord of all worlds. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to draw you both near unto Him in every world among His worlds, to grant you the bounty of attaining His presence in His dominion and kingdom, and to send down upon you from the heaven of His generosity the table of His knowledge and the grace of His munificence. Verily, He is powerful over whatsoever He willeth, and He is the Compassionate, the Mighty, the Bountiful.
The glory from Us be upon you both and upon those who are with you, who have migrated unto God, the Mighty, the All-Praised, and who have arrived at the Most Great Prison, and have quaffed the choice wine of reunion from the hands of bounty, and have heard His most sweet call from His most exalted horizon, and have witnessed and attained that which had been the hope of the sincere ones and those near unto God. The glory from Us be upon you both and upon those who are with you, and upon every one who hath turned, whom nothing among all things hath prevented from setting his face toward God, the Creator of heaven.
Rejoice in this most exalted Word which hath shone forth and gleamed from the horizon of My Most Exalted Pen. Verily, He is the Protector of those who do good. And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH06239: The Sun of immortality has dawned from the brow…
In the Name of God, the Most Glorious, the Most Glorious
The Sun of immortality has dawned from the brow of Glory. Blessed is he who is illumined by its effulgence. The Holy Countenance hath appeared from the Dayspring of God’s Most Holy and Most Exalted Name. Blessed is he who hath detached himself from all else save Him. The Fire of God hath been kindled in the Tree of the Command. Blessed is he who hath been set ablaze by its flames. The Spirit of God hath come with the hosts of revelation and inspiration. Blessed is he who hath attained His presence. The suns of divine knowledge have shone forth. Blessed is he who is illumined by their lights.
O servant! Give thanks unto God that in the previous year thou wast illumined by the Sun of Grandeur and attained the presence of the Spirit of God and wast honored to meet Him. Let nothing cause thee grief. Be detached from the world and all that is therein and from those like unto it. Remember these mysteries in thy days, then detach thyself from all who are on earth and from its causes. And the Glory be upon thee and upon those who perceive the pearls of wisdom from their shells.
Convey abundant greetings from this servant to the loved ones in that land, and give glad tidings to all of the wondrous tokens of divine favor and the outpourings of the mercy of the All-Merciful.
Abdu’llah al-Ali Muhammad-ʿAli
BH06134: In My Name, through which was opened the gate…
In My Name, through which was opened the gate of bounty unto all who dwell in the kingdom of creation!
Praise and glory, remembrance and splendor befit the Lord of the Kingdom of Utterance, Who through the attraction of the Most Exalted Word brought being out of utter nothingness, and from non-existence made manifest the signs of eternity that all might testify to His appearance and manifestation, His sovereignty and power, and His bounty. Exalted is He Who hath attained to His Day and heard His call. Woe to the heedless! O thou who art mentioned before the Wronged One, thou emigrant unto God! Thou hast been remembered, therefore have We mentioned thee in this blessed Tablet that thou mayest be of the thankful. Blessed is the soul who hath today drunk from the Kawthar of utterance of the Lord of Religions—such a one is mentioned before God, exalted be His glory, as among those near unto Him. Say:
Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having turned toward Thy servant and remembered him through Thy most great verses in the prison of ʿAkka. I beseech Thee by the standards of Thy power and the banners of Thy guidance, by the repositories of Thy revelation and the dawning-places of Thy inspiration, to make me steadfast in Thy Cause, firm in Thy service, and speaking in Thy remembrance and praise. Thou art verily the Almighty, the Exalted, the Bountiful. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH06212: Blessed art thou for having done good to thyself…
He is the Hearer, the Answerer!
Blessed art thou for having done good to thyself and for having recognized that which hath shone forth and gleamed from the horizon of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Say: O concourse of creation! By God, He Who speaketh the truth hath come. Cast behind you all vain imaginings, turning unto God, the Mighty, the Wise. How many a learned one hath been withheld by knowledge from the Sovereign of all knowledge, and how many an illiterate one hath quaffed the sealed wine through His Name, the Mighty, the Wondrous. Remind the servants through this Most Great Remembrance and through that whereby their stations are exalted before God, the Most High, the Supreme. We counsel those who have believed to observe trustworthiness and chastity and whatsoever hath been sent down in the Book from the presence of an ancient Revealer.
We desire to behold thee speaking in remembrance of thy Lord and standing firm with supreme steadfastness in this Cause whereby the feet of the learned have slipped save those whom the hand of power hath seized and rescued from the seas of the doubts of the suspicious. He will aid thee in goodly deeds and grant thee the reward of His presence, the Inaccessible, the Mighty, the Protected. Glory be upon the people of Baha who have not been kept back by worldly affairs from the Lord of all humanity, and upon those who have clung to His luminous hem.
BH06297: We have seen thy letter and heard thy call…
In the Name of the peerless Lord!
We have seen thy letter and heard thy call. God willing, in this spiritual morn thou shalt be illumined by the lights of the Sun of Truth and drink from the choice wine of inner meanings. The Beloved One speaks forth openly and without veil: Blessed is the soul that hears and causes to hear the call of Truth. Today, whatsoever dawns from the Dayspring of Divine Revelation is accepted and beloved. We beseech God, glorified and mighty be He, to guide those lost in the valley of error to the resplendent horizon of guidance, and to lead those who thirst in the desert of bewilderment to the ocean of recognition.
Say: O God of the world and Lord of the nations! I beseech Thee by the Most Great Name, through which the lands were shaken and the servants were disturbed, to make me steadfast in Thy Cause and firm in Thy love. Then write down for me, O my God, that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones who have cast away what they possessed, turning to the horizon of Thy bounty and the Dawning-Place of Thy favors. O Lord! Leave me not to myself. Aid me in all conditions to remember and praise Thee, and ordain for me from the heaven of Thy mercy that which shall profit me in this world and the next. Verily Thou art the Powerful over what Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Most High, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH06033: The Mother Book speaks: Verily there is no God…
He is the One dawning from the horizon of the Tablet.
The Mother Book speaks: Verily there is no God but Me, the One with power over whatsoever I will, through My Name, the Protector of what was and what shall be. This is the Day which the Prophets and Messengers gave glad tidings of, from God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. O thou who gazest upon the countenance, rejoice in that thy name hath flowed from My Most Exalted Pen in this Most Glorious Station. Say:
Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having illumined my heart with the light of Thy knowledge and for having sent down unto me that which shall endure as long as Thy celestial dominion and Thy realm of might endure. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the worlds, by Thy Most Great Name through which Thou hast subdued the hearts of the nations, to aid me to arise to serve Thy Cause. O my Lord! Thou seest me turning unto Thee and clinging to Thy cord. I beseech Thee to make me of those whom the swords of tyranny deterred not from turning toward the Daystar of Thy justice, nor the spears of oppression from drawing nigh unto the court of Thy grace. O my Lord! Assist me to aid Thy Cause and to enter the precincts of the glory of Thy oneness. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest through Thy manifest Command. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH06235: We have mentioned thee when We were…
We have mentioned thee when We were in a glorious station and have sent down verses for thee even as We sent them down aforetime as a token of Our grace, for verily I am the Mighty, the Bountiful. After this dark autumn there hath been and shall be a luminous spring, and whatsoever hath fallen from the trees shall God cause to grow anew through His bounty. Verily thy Lord is He Who causeth to grow, the All-Wise. The letter which thou didst send to him who beareth the name of M, upon him be the Glory of God, the servant in attendance before the Face hath presented it. This is what was revealed after hearing it: Give thanks and be thou of them that rejoice.
O thou who bearest My Name M! Make mention of him who hath turned toward the Supreme Horizon and desired to attain the presence, and give him glad tidings through this remembrance which all the treasures of the earth cannot equal. Verily thy Lord is the Forgiving, the Bountiful. Say: The Command is in His hands—He writeth for whomsoever He willeth the recompense of attaining His presence, for He is the One Who commandeth, the All-Wise. Ask thou God to ordain for thee the reward of what thou didst desire in His path, for in such days as these it behooveth no one to turn toward the precincts of the Throne. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the presence of One mighty and ancient. The glory from God rest upon those who have won the lights of steadfastness in this Cause, the firm, the mighty, the wondrous.
BH06104: This is a book from the Wronged One…
In the name of the one incomparable God.
This is a book from the Wronged One of the horizons to one of His friends who emigrated from his place until he attained the most exalted horizon and drank the Kawthar of reunion from the hands of the bounty of the Lord of Names. Blessed is he and his father who gained entry into this noble scene. O Abdullah! God willing, through the favor of the Beloved of the worlds, thou shalt be enabled to accomplish that which will cause the exaltation of the Word of God. At all times gaze toward the horizon of the All-Merciful, and walk among people with utmost truthfulness, sincerity, trustworthiness and piety. I swear by the Sun of Revelation which hath dawned from the Dawning-Place of utterance that praiseworthy deeds and goodly actions are the cause of the exaltation and elevation of the existence of the servants. Blessed is he who hath adorned himself with the robe of virtues which God hath sent down in the Book. With permission thou art undertaking this journey. God willing, thou must act as befitteth. We beseech God to assist thee in all conditions with that which pleaseth Him. The glory be upon thee and upon those who have turned toward the horizon of the Cause and believed in God, the Exalted, the Great.
BH06268: In My Name, the Remembering, the All-Knowing
In My Name, the Remembering, the All-Knowing
This is a Book sent down by Him Who is the Desired One that He might guide the people to His straight path and draw them nigh unto the station wherein the Tree calleth out: “The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Lord of all worlds!”
O Yusuf! Hearken unto the call from the direction of the Wronged One. He remembereth thee and aideth thee to draw nigh unto the ultimate goal and the most exalted summit—the station whereon is established the throne of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful. Give thanks unto God for having enabled thee to turn towards Him when every learned one had turned away. Say: My God, my God! I am Thy servant and the son of Thy servant. I have turned unto Thee and have desired from the ocean of Thy bounty that which will render me detached from all else save Thee, speaking Thy praise and soaring in Thine atmosphere. I testify that the choice wine of Thy praise hath taken hold of me and the Salsabil of Thy utterance hath intoxicated me.
I beseech Thee by Thy glance and by Thy call, and by the Command whereby Thou didst subdue all creation and attract all beings, to send down upon me from the heaven of Thy bounty that which will purify me from the doubts of those who have denied Thy Manifestation, disputed Thy signs, turned away from the Dayspring of Thy attributes and the Source of Thy commandments. O Lord! Ordain for me through Thy bounty that which will make me steadfast in Thy Cause and in service to Thy loved ones. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
BH06087: O Javad! The Creator of all beings says: May…
In the Name of the Wronged One of the horizons.
O Javad! The Creator of all beings says: May you ever remain, God willing, sheltered and at rest beneath the divine Lote-Tree, and be occupied at all times with the remembrance of the Goal of the worlds.
Act with great wisdom. Be not confident in people, for most have turned away and continue to turn away from the Truth at the slightest word, since they have not attained to recognition of the Root of the Tree. Therefore you must not consider every claimant to love as truthful, and keep concealed that which must remain concealed. Often it happens that someone, moved by selfish desire, spreads abroad whatever they have come to know. Would that they were content with this much! Rather, they speak of what they have not seen and mention what they have not heard. In any case, conduct yourself with perfect wisdom.
And a Tablet specifically for Hakim was sent as promised. Be assured, O Javad, of thy Lord’s grace and be of the thankful. Verily thou hast been mentioned before the Throne with most excellent praise. He is indeed the Forgiving, the Generous.
May the Glory rest upon thee and upon those who love thee for the sake of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
BH06129: Praise sanctified beyond mention and utterance befitteth and beseemeth…
He is the One dawning from the horizon of the heaven of utterance
Praise sanctified beyond mention and utterance befitteth and beseemeth the Lord of virtues Who illumined His servants with the lights of the Daystar of the horizons and adorned them with the sanctified and luminous ornament. O Abdu’r-Rahim, upon thee be the Glory of God, the Lord of this great Day. His honor Mulla Muhammad-Ali hath arrived and mention was made of you in the assembly of the oppressed ones. Say: My God, my God! Assist Thy loved ones to be steadfast in Thy Cause and in Thy love, and illumine their hearts with the lights of Thy knowledge. Then send down upon them from the clouds of Thy generosity the rain of Thy mercy. O my Lord! Take their hands with the hands of Thy power and might, which have caused all created and contingent things to be seized by Thy command and taken by Thy Name.
I beseech Thee, O God of all beings and Goal of all who dwell in earth and heaven, by the Lord of Batha [Muhammad] through whose advent the celestial spheres were honored, to enable the people of Iran to achieve righteousness and piety and purify them, O my God, from transgression and indecency. Verily Thou art the Lord of all mankind and the Lord of the throne on high and of the dust below. And We make mention of My loved ones and friends there and counsel them with that which will draw them nigh unto God, the Lord of all worlds. Praise be unto Him for He is the Goal of them that have known Him.
BH06257: The Most Great Book declareth: The Day…
In the name of the Lord of Eternity
The Most Great Book declareth: The Day is the Day of God, and the infinite outpourings of divine grace are streaming from the cloud of mercy, and the ocean of bounty is surging, and the light of manifestation is shining and radiant from the horizon of the heaven of Sinai. Blessed are the leaves that have held fast unto it, and blessed are the servants who have not deprived themselves thereof.
O My Leaf! Upon thee be My glory! Praise thou the one true God and say: Unto Thee be praise, O Lord of Names and Creator of the heavens and Fashioner of all things, for having remembered Thy leaf and Thy handmaiden. I beseech Thee, O Thou Who illuminest the world and art manifest through the Most Great Name, to assist me and Thy leaves to make mention of Thee and to praise Thee amongst Thy handmaidens, and to ordain for me and for them every bounty that lay hidden in the heaven of Thy generosity and the treasuries of Thy loving-kindness.
O my Lord! I am Thy handmaiden and the leaf of Thy Divine Lote-Tree. I have turned unto Thee. I implore Thee to change the sorrow of Thy loved ones into joy, and their powerlessness into might, and their abasement into glory, and their poverty into wealth. Thou art, verily, the Lord of all created things and within Thy grasp lie the reins of all affairs. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Powerful, the All-Loving, the Ever-Forgiving.
BH06169: My remembrance unto My handmaiden who was attracted…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great.
My remembrance unto My handmaiden who was attracted by My verses, who turned to My horizon, who soared in My atmosphere, who drank the choice wine of My love and the Salsabil of My tender mercy and the Kawthar of My grace that prevails over all who see and are seen.
O My handmaiden! By the life of God, I am in manifest grief. My grief is not for what has befallen My body and frame and soul and spirit, but rather for what has befallen the Cause of God, the Lord of the worlds. If I were to detail for you, O My servants and handmaidens, what I have heard and seen in the path of God, the wailing of weeping would rise up from all things between earth and heaven, and the people of Paradise and the Concourse on High would lament. To this bears witness the Lord of Names in a preserved tablet.
When I reached this point, the Most Exalted Pen cried out saying: “O Lord of Names and Creator of heaven! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Glorious Name to permit Me to make mention and utterance, that I may describe what Thou art in the kingdom of creation.” We said: “Be patient even as thy Lord was patient. Verily thy Lord is the Concealer, the Generous.” Thus was the matter decreed from God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
BH06026: O God, my God! Thy call hath attracted me…
He is the Gracious, the All-Bountiful!
O God, my God! Thy call hath attracted me, and the voice of Thy Pen of Glory awakened me. the stream of Thy holy utterance hath enraptured me, and the wine of Thine inspiration entranced me. Thou seest me, O Lord, detached from all things but Thee, clinging to the cord of Thy bounty and craving the wonders of Thy grace. I ask Thee, by the eternal billows of Thy loving-kindness and the shining lights of Thy tender care and favor, to grant that which shall draw me nigh unto thee and make me rich in Thy wealth. My tongue, my pen, my whole being, testify to Thy power, Thy might, Thy grace and Thy bounty, that Thou art God and there is none other God but Thee, the Powerful, the Mighty.
I bear witness at this moment, O my God, to my helplessness and Thy sovereignty, my feebleness and Thy power. I know not that which profiteth me or harmeth me; Thou art, verily, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Do Thou decree for me, O Lord, my God, and my Master, that which will make me feel content with Thine eternal decree and will prosper me in every world of Thine. Thou art in truth the Gracious, the Bountiful.
Lord! Turn me not away from the ocean of Thy wealth and the heaven of Thy mercy, and ordain for me the good of this world and hereafter. Verily, Thou art the Lord of the mercy-seat, enthroned in the highest; there is none other God but Thee, the One, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH06093: To be typed
To be typed.
BH06133: Praise be unto Him Who is worthy and deserving…
He is God—exalted be His station, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
Praise be unto Him Who is worthy and deserving, Who hath educated the world through justice and adorned it with the lights of grace. His generosity is not withheld from the manifestations of existence, and His bounty is not impeded by the differences among nations. Glorified be His majesty and universal be His favors. There is none other God but Him.
Thy letter, which was sent in the name of generosity—upon him be the peace of God—was observed. Praise be to God, it was illumined with the lights of the word of unity and perfumed with the fragrance of the recognition of God, glorified be His majesty. Some among the servants have ever spoken that which was unfitting and from which the fragrance of truth was not diffused. The reality of matters is clear and evident. We beseech God that He may aid and assist thee in all conditions. May the utterances of the servants not sully the hem of sanctity.
Follow thou the Wronged One. Verily He saith what the Spirit hath spoken:
“If Thou shouldst punish them, they are indeed Thy servants; and if Thou shouldst forgive them, verily Thou art the Mighty, the Great.”
Some complaints have occurred and continue to occur due to blind imitation. Place thy trust in all things in God, even as thou hast trusted in Him and committed thy affair unto Him. Verily, He is the Most Merciful of the merciful, and He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful.
BH06153: A remembrance from Us to one who has drawn…
He is exalted above mention and description
A remembrance from Us to one who has drawn near to the Most Great Sea and desired to turn towards the Ancient Horizon from which the Sun of Grandeur has shone forth from God, the Exalted, the Great. Blessed is he who has grasped the Sure Handle and joy be to him who has drunk the choice wine of utterance from the hand of the bounty of his Lord, the Bestower, the Compassionate, the Generous, the Bountiful. By God! Were anyone to turn with the ear of innate nature […] the Most High, he would surely hear the Call in remembrance of this Wronged One, Who has been encompassed by sorrows through what the hands of the heedless have wrought.
By the life of God! The horizon of trustworthiness has been darkened after We had commanded all to observe it in My wise Book. Were We to detail for you what We have concealed beneath the veils of forbearance, ye would surely cry out among the peoples of creation: “Verily your Lord, the All-Merciful, is witness to what I say.” We have heard thy call and witnessed thy turning towards the Countenance, and We have sent down for thee this Tablet that it may bear witness for thee in the worlds of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Be thou thankful to God for this great bounty, then beseech Him in all conditions to make thee steadfast in His love. Verily thy Lord is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH06259: The Book of God hath been revealed with truth…
In the Name of the Most Ancient, the Most Great
The Book of God hath been revealed with truth and beareth witness to that which the Wronged One hath witnessed from His glorious station, declaring: Friendship is a sun created by God for the heaven of humanity—through it his station is exalted and his worth becomes manifest among the peoples. He, verily, is the True One, the All-Knowing. We have adorned the heaven of the Tablet with the stars of ordinances, that perchance the people may reflect upon that which shall profit them in both this world and the next. He, verily, is the Expositor, the All-Wise. Say: That which hath been revealed in the Book—verily it is your sustainer, your educator, your teacher, your protector, your helper, your source of glory, and your guide, were ye of those who understand.
Nothing can profit you except by His leave. To this beareth witness My Manifest Tablet which the Lord of Eternity hath sent down that it might proclaim before the face of the world that there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Thus hath sung the Cock of My Throne, and cooed the Dove of My Cause, and warbled the Nightingale of My remembrance, and chanted My Most Exalted Pen, the Mighty, the Wondrous. Be thou grateful that the Countenance hath turned toward thee and sent unto thee a fragrance from the fragrant garment of His remembrance. Upon thee be glory, and upon those who are with thee and who have quaffed the choice wine of steadfastness from the hand of the power of their Lord, the Almighty.
BH06261: A Book have We sent down in truth…
He is Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious
A Book have We sent down in truth and made it a reminder for all the worlds. Verily it is the breath of the All-Merciful amidst all created things and a sign of His glory unto all who are in the heavens and on earth. Through it the believers perceive the fragrance of reunion and the sincere ones drink from the hands of their Lord, the Forgiving, the Merciful, the Kawthar of immortality. Those who are heedless of it are wandering in the wilderness of error, while they who have turned unto it are in an exalted station.
The celestial spheres have been set in motion by the wafting of the breezes of thy Lord’s mercy, yet most of the people are among the dead. The Divine Lote-Tree hath been stirred by the movement of the verses of Him Who is the Lord of all creation, yet most of the people remain heedless.
Blessed are the people of Baha! God beareth Me witness! They are the solace of the eye of creation. Through them the universes have been adorned, and the Preserved Tablet embellished. They are the ones who have sailed on the ark of complete independence, with their faces set towards the Dayspring of Beauty. How great is their blessedness that they have attained unto what their Lord, the Omniscient, the All-Wise, hath willed. Through their light the heavens have been adorned, and the faces of those that have drawn nigh unto Him made to shine. Thus have the breezes of life wafted from the gardens of the mercy of the Bountiful One and encompassed all things great and small.
Turn ye unto the Most Pure Fountain! Beware lest the veils of humanity prevent you from this mighty prospect.
BH06777: This is a Book which speaketh with most eloquent…
In His Name through Whom the Luminary of Proof hath shone forth!
This is a Book which speaketh with most eloquent utterance in the realm of possibility. God, there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Bestower. This is a day wherein the doors of grace and bounty have been opened wide. Blessed is he who hath drawn nigh and attained, and woe unto every heedless doubter. O Muhammad-Rahim! Hearken unto the call from the precincts of the Prison—verily it draweth thee unto God, the Lord of all men. Say: O concourse of men! The Bestower hath come, and the Dove of Paradise hath warbled upon the highest branches. The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Lord of Lords. When thou dost inhale the fragrances of revelation from thy Lord’s verses, say:
Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Goal of the world, and glory be unto Thee, O Thou Beloved of the nations! I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy manifestation and by the mysteries concealed within Thy knowledge, to aid me to perform such deeds from which the fragrance of Thy good-pleasure shall never cease to emanate. O Lord! I am Thy servant and the son of Thy servant. I acknowledge Thy manifestation and Thy sovereignty, and confess that which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book. I beseech Thee to assist me in Thy remembrance and praise amongst Thy servants. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.
BH06547: The remembrance and utterance of the Goal of all…
In His Name Who is the All-Knowing Rememberer!
The remembrance and utterance of the Goal of all the world’s peoples hath reached such a station that it hath encompassed the world and all who dwell therein. Yet the people of the world remain deprived and veiled.
O people of Baha! That there is none to rival you is a sign of mercy. Quaff ye of the Cup of Bounty the wine of immortality, despite them that have repudiated God, the Lord of names and Maker of the heavens.
The beloved friend—upon him be My glory—and thou have ever been beneath the glance of loving-kindness. The Tablets revealed stand as witness and testimony. There hath been sent down for him that which attesteth to God’s grace, His loving-kindness, His mercy and His favors. And for thee in this Tablet is that which shall never fall silent but shall speak before the faces of the world. He Who hath remembered thee in His mighty prison doth bear witness to this.
We make mention of the loved ones in that land and give them the glad-tidings of God’s loving-kindness and counsel them with that whereby the Cause shall be exalted. Blessed is he who hath heard and held fast unto that which he hath been commanded by God, the Lord of all worlds.
The glory be upon you, O people of Baha, from the presence of One Who is Forgiving, Generous.
BH06445: O Majdu’d-Din! We beseech God that He may cause…
He is the All-Glorious, the Most Glorious.
O Majdu’d-Din! We beseech God that He may cause thee to enter beneath the canopy of His glory and within the pavilion of His bounty. These twain are My love: enter therein, then hold fast unto it, and fear none among men. Put thy whole trust in My Self, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsistent.
O My Majd! Adorn thy tongue with My remembrance, then thy heart with My love, then thine ear with hearkening unto My verses, and thine eye with gazing upon My sacred, well-beloved Beauty.
O Majd of Eternity! Clothe thyself in the robe of courtesy, for it is a vesture which He hath ordained for the temples of humankind, and it befitteth every body, whether of female or of male. O My son! Strive to acquire knowledge, for it is the knowledge of Me. This is the knowledge which hath ever been the very essence of all that is known. Hast thou found, apart from Me, in all the earth any object of knowledge? Nay, by My Beauty, the Mighty, the Manifest!
O Majd of Holiness! Adorn thy head with the diadem of truth, that by its light thy face may shine resplendent betwixt earth and heaven. O My son! Make mention among the people of My first exile and of My first imprisonment, then of My second exile and My latter imprisonment, and then of this final exile, from which the tears of the denizens of nearness have flowed from their eyes.
BH06462: O handmaid of God! This is a Day wherein…
He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious
O handmaid of God! This is a Day wherein if someone falleth short in performing a deed, they will not be able to make up for it even in countless ages to come. God willing, may you hold fast with complete certitude to the Truth and be detached from all else. I swear by the Sun of the horizon of the Prison that if people were to reflect even slightly on what hath been manifested in this Most Holy, Most Exalted Revelation, they would abandon the world and all therein and turn with heart and soul toward the direction of the All-Merciful. However, their vision hath been veiled by the greatest veil which is human desires, and thus their eyes are deprived of beholding the Greatest Scene and their hearts are prevented from seeking.
In all conditions fix thy gaze upon the Self-Sufficient, the Most High, and with the ear of thy soul hearken unto the shrill voice of the Most Exalted Pen which is raised betwixt earth and heaven, that thou mayest discover its sweetness and become independent of the world and all that is therein through the remembrance of thy Friend. God willing, mayest thou ever dwell beneath the shade of the Divine Lote-Tree and be nourished from the Kawthar of His grace. The glory from Us be upon thee and upon the assured handmaids of God.
BH06683: Say: O my God! I am Thy servant…
Say: O my God! I am Thy servant and the son of Thy servant. I have turned toward Thy most exalted horizon and have directed myself to the lights of Thy countenance, O Lord of heaven. I have found the fragrance of Thy utterance and the breezes of Thy revelation and the manifestations of Thy power. My Lord, I beseech Thee by Thy strength which hath conquered all things and by Thy Name whereby Thou hast subdued all names, that Thou disappoint me not of what is with Thee. Then grant me that which Thou hast written for Thy loved ones and ordained for them from the Pen of Thy decree.
My Lord, separation from Thee hath destroyed me, parting from Thee hath burned me, and absence from Thee hath killed me. I beseech Thee by the light of Thy reunion to ordain for Thy servant to attain Thy presence or to write down for him its reward through Thy bounty and grace. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
My Lord, Thou seest me turning toward the heaven of Thy bounty and gazing toward the direction of Thy prison. I beseech Thee by the ocean of Thy bestowals to make me steadfast in Thy remembrance and the service of Thy Cause in such wise that neither the affairs of the oppressors nor the power of the tyrants shall prevent me. I testify that Thou hast appeared and manifested that which was hidden in the eternity of eternities. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Triumphant, the Powerful.
BH06724: A Book from Us to him who hath attained…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Great
A Book from Us to him who hath attained unto divine knowledge when the countenance of his Lord, the Most Merciful, shone forth, that the attraction of the Word may draw him to a station wherein he will speak amongst all created things through this Name, through which the oceans of wisdom and utterance have surged.
Blessed art thou for having drawn nigh unto the Most Desired One when every doubting misbeliever remained remote from Him. When We found from thee the fragrance of the love of God, We sent down unto thee this Tablet and dispatched it in truth as a token of Our grace. Verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the All-Bestowing.
Make mention of what hath befallen Us in the path of God, then of My imprisonment and exile in this spot at the hands of the wicked. Say: O people, by His Name the Self-Subsisting, He calleth out with the most exalted call from the horizon of the prison and summoneth the entire creation unto God, the Lord of the beginning and the end.
Say: Beware lest ye deprive yourselves of this Light that hath shone forth from the horizon of creation. Turn your hearts toward the court of the Desired One and follow not every ascetic deceiver. Thus have We wafted unto thee a breath from the breezes of the All-Merciful that thou mayest inhale the fragrance of the Most Merciful and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of all mankind.
BH06798: O Asad! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
O Asad! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged One from this well-known spot. Verily, there is none other God but He, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. The All-Bountiful hath come upon the clouds, yet the people perceive it not. They have followed their own desires and cast behind them that which the King of Kings hath brought. Give thanks unto God for having aided thee and caused thee to recognize the Dawning-Place of His verses, and made thee attain unto this promised Day. By God! This is the Day whose mention hath adorned the Scriptures of God, the Mighty, the Beloved. Among the people are those who have denied and turned away, and those who have cast aside the world, turning unto God, the Lord of eternity. Thus doth My Pen recount unto thee that thou mayest be informed and be of them who have held fast unto the cord of God’s tender mercy, the Mighty, the All-Loving. When thou hast received thy Lord’s Book, arise and say:
“Unto Thee be glory, O Lord of the worlds! I testify that Thy mercy hath preceded Thy wrath, and Thy grace hath encompassed the kingdoms of the unseen and the visible. I beseech Thee to make me steadfast in this Cause which hath caused the limbs of the world to quake, save those whom the hand of Thy favor hath aided. There is none other God but Thee, the Most High, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.”
BH06866: O Muhammad-Javad! Praise be to God that thou hast…
He is the Protector over what was and what shall be!
O Muhammad-Javad! Praise be to God that thou hast received thy portion from the ocean of divine bounty. His generosity hath not deprived those who have turned to Him, and His grace hath not withheld from those who have beseeched Him. His hand is outstretched and His mercy precedeth all. Blessed is the one whom the smoke of self and passion hath not prevented from beholding the Most Exalted Horizon. Today the rustling of the Divine Lote-Tree is raised and the shrill voice of the Pen is manifest. God willing, thou shalt attain unto the most great steadfastness and speak forth in remembrance of the Peerless Beloved. Say: O friends! Conflict, contention and bloodshed are forbidden. All must occupy themselves with the refinement of their own souls and thereafter arise for the reformation of others. This is what the Lord of Eternity hath decreed when the Sun of Manifestation shone forth from the horizon of the world. Blessed is he who acteth according to that which God hath desired, and woe unto those who turn away. In all circumstances be mindful of wisdom and associate with all in a spirit of fragrance and joy. The Glory of God be upon thee and upon thy family who have believed and turned unto God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH06485: This Wronged One has testified and does testify…
In the name of the Everlasting Speaker.
This Wronged One has testified and does testify to the Sovereign of existence and the Lord of the seen and unseen, that He has had and shall have no peer, no equal and no likeness, and He speaks this blessed word which adorns the preamble of the book of existence: “Verily there is no God but Me, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.” God willing, may that honored one be engaged with utmost joy and fragrance in the remembrance of the Beloved of the worlds and arise to serve His Cause. Convey greetings from this Wronged One to the friends of God. Say: God willing, you must speak and act in a manner befitting the Cause of God and His Revelation, in such wise that the affairs of the world shall not prevent you. You have borne hardships in the path of God—preserve this station. Satans are spread throughout the earth and are occupied with leading humanity astray. Say: Thus does He counsel you from Whose presence is the perspicuous Book, and reminds you of God and His verses, and teaches you what will guide you unto Him. Verily He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. The glory shining from the horizon of eternity be upon you and upon those who have turned to God, the One, the All-Informed.
BH06503: The entire world was awaiting this blessed Day, yet…
In His Name, the One Who has power over whatsoever He willeth!
The entire world was awaiting this blessed Day, yet when the hidden Day was adorned and made manifest through the radiance of the Sun of Truth, all who dwell on earth remained veiled save whom God wished. Blessed are they whom the veils and allusions of the people did not prevent from the ocean of divine recognition. Arise in His Name and take the sealed wine in the name of the Self-Subsisting, may His glory be glorified, and drink it in defiance of those who denied the right of God and His loved ones and followed every heedless doubter. God willing, on this Day when the world is encompassed by the darkness of fancy and vain imaginings, thou shalt be illumined by the lights of the morn of certitude. Glory be to God! Those servants who were heedless and unaware of the origin of the Cause and its foundation are now occupied with leading souls astray. Fie upon them and upon those who follow them without any clear proof or Book! Through the grace of God, exalted be His glory, it is hoped that your honor will be engaged in the remembrance of the Purpose of the world with utmost joy and delight, and will arise to serve Him.
BH06418: Today the denizens of the Supreme Concourse…
He is the Speaker, the Rememberer, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise!
Today the denizens of the Supreme Concourse and the exalted Paradise consort with one another in utmost joy and gladness, delight and expansion, giving one another the glad-tidings of attainment to His presence. For the holy and luminous spirits have ascended from the earth, and all have welcomed them. And now, in perfect fellowship and unity, they walk in that holy and blessed land and those luminous and spiritual realms. And the dwellers of the pavilion of glory each utter this most blessed and exalted word: “The day of joy has come! The loved ones in the divine garden, with spiritual souls, are engaged in eternal pleasure and everlasting delight!” And the inhabitants of the canopy of grace each proclaim this exalted word: “This is the day wherein the sincere ones and those brought nigh have attained the presence of those who gave up their spirits in the path of God, the Lord of all worlds and the Sovereign of the mighty throne!” O thou who hast turned unto God! Give thanks unto God, exalted be He, for having aided thee and sent down for thee in this Tablet that which hath attracted the realities of existence, both hidden and manifest. The glory from Us be upon thee and upon every patient and grateful one.
BH06721: This is a Book sent down by the Lord…
He is the Hearer in His most exalted horizon.
This is a Book sent down by the Lord of all beings that He might draw His servants nigh unto His horizon, adorn them with the ornament of His love, make mention of them through His verses, and give them the glad-tidings of His mercy which hath preceded all who are in the heavens and on earth.
O ʿAbdu’r-Rahman! Hearken unto the call of the Lord of all creation and the Sovereign of religions. He maketh mention of thee from the prison precincts in such wise as to draw thee nigh unto the most exalted station and the supreme summit. Verily thy Lord is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
There hath come before Us a letter from one who hath attained My presence, stood before the gate of My grandeur, voiced My praise amongst My servants, and held fast to the cord of My service amidst My creation. We make mention of thee in a Tablet that shall bear witness unto thee in every world of the worlds of thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
All that exists in the world cannot equal a single word from the words of thy Lord—to this doth the Lord of Eternity bear witness in His mighty prison. Give thanks unto God, thy Lord, for having aided thee to turn unto Him and for having elevated thy station through His wise remembrance. We counsel thee to preserve this station in the name of thy Lord and to remain steadfast in His Cause, the firm, the secure.
The glory from Us be upon thee and upon those who have attained unto the recognition of God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH06778: This is a Book that speaketh with truth unto…
He is the rightful Sovereign!
This is a Book that speaketh with truth unto him who hath quaffed the choice wine of utterance and heard the Call from the Supreme Horizon. Dominion belongeth unto God, the Lord of all worlds. Blessed is the servant who, clinging to the cord of the Lord of all beings, hath cast away vain desire. He is indeed of the people of Baha in the Crimson Hidden Scroll. Thus hath the matter been decreed in this exalted station.
O Habihu’llah! We have answered thee and made mention of thee in this perspicuous Tablet. We have named the heavenly table “Mary” as a token of Our favor and a mercy from Our presence. We beseech God to bless her coming and to rain down upon her from the clouds of His grace the showers of His blessing, His bounty, His generosity and His gifts. He, verily, hath power over all things.
Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy signs and Thy clear tokens and by the lights of Thy countenance, to ordain for her and for her father and mother and those with her every good thing which Thou hast sent down in Thy Book for Thy handmaidens who have circled round Thy throne and have won Thy loving-kindness that hath encompassed all who are in the heavens and on earth. Praise be unto Thee, O God of the worlds and Goal of them that have known Thee!
BH06516: All praise that transcends the comprehension of the peoples…
All praise that transcends the comprehension of the peoples of the contingent world befitteth the Purpose of all worlds, Who hath illumined the universe with the lights of His Most Great Name…
Concerning what you mentioned about Jinab-i-Aqa Husayn Haji-Rajab and also Jinab-i-Aqa Siyyid, as was said before, many were beheaded. Praise be to God, the lovers in the city of detachment all attained in the path of God to that which had been the ultimate hope of those near unto Him and the sincere ones. I beseech God to grant true vision to the people of the world, that all may become aware of the loftiness, exaltation, glory and majesty of His chosen ones, and likewise become cognizant of their own abasement, darkness, wickedness and presumption….
BH11653: We make mention of him who is named Muhammad-Qabli-Taqi…
He is the All-Wise Teacher!
We make mention of him who is named Muhammad-Qabli-Taqi, that he may rejoice in this remembrance whereby all things have spoken: “The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting!” Verily, the Wronged One maketh mention of the servants of God on earth and summoneth them unto God, the Lord of existence. Blessed is he who is endowed with vision and hath recognized his Lord, and blessed is he who, when he heard the call from beyond the Ocean of Grandeur, responded: “Here am I! Here am I! O Thou God of the seen and the unseen!”
Say: The Wronged One speaketh not of His own desire—to this beareth witness the Lord of the throne on high and of earth below—yet most of the people understand not. This is the Day which the All-Merciful hath revealed in the Qur’an: “The Kingdom on that Day shall be God’s,” yet most of the people perceive not. They have cast the Book of God behind their backs and followed every rejected learned one.
Say: This is the Day of Revelation, did ye but know it, and this is the Day of Utterance, yet ye remain silent. Arise from the slumber of vain imaginings, then turn ye towards the Most Sublime Horizon which hath been illumined by this Name through which the gate of heaven was opened and the tribes of the Spirit descended.
Glory be upon the people of glory who have heard and responded when the Truth came, the Knower of all things unseen.
BH06824: O Javad! In the days when the Light…
In His Name, the Manifest, the Witnessed
O Javad! In the days when the Light of Revelation was dawning from the horizon of Iraq, We informed all through the cawing of the cawers. Those souls who were heedless of the root of the Cause and unaware, clinging to the cord of vain imaginings and scattered throughout the cities and regions, are like the previous party, training the servants with vain imaginings. For one thousand three hundred years, heedless souls afflicted the Shiite party with vain imaginings. On the Day of Recompense they committed that which caused the Divine Lote Tree to weep and the Supreme Pen to lament. Until now the deniers of the Bayan have not understood the Day of God. They speak and make mention with previous names. Say:
O God, Whom I Worship and Adore! The power of Thy servants did not prevent Thy power. Thou didst aid Thy Cause with the Pen and didst summon through the Most Great Name. I beseech Thee by Thy great bounty and profound generosity to protect these servants from the evil of the cawers, that perchance we may not be contaminated with vain imaginings like the previous party. O Powerful One! Grant the portion of the chalice of certitude to those who have turned to Thee, and deprive them not of the lights of the Orb of assurance. Verily Thou art the Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH06589: O Thou Who hearest, seest and answerest!
O Thou Who hearest, seest and answerest!
Glorified art Thou, O Thou through Whose Name the gates of heaven were opened and those near unto God hastened to the Most Exalted Horizon. I beseech Thee by the sovereignty of Names and the pearls of the ocean of Thy knowledge, O Lord of the Throne and earth, to make me among those women who turned to Thee when Thou didst appear, who hearkened when Thou didst call, and who directed themselves to Thee when the earth and heaven were illumined by the light of Thy countenance. O my Lord! Thou art He at Whose manifestations of generosity every noble one was thunderstruck, and at Whose expressions of power every mighty one confessed their impotence. Write down for me, by the Pen of Divine Decree, that which will make me steadfast in Thy Cause and vocal in Thy praise.
O my Lord! This is one of Thy handmaidens and a leaf from the leaves of Thy Divine Lote-Tree, and she seeketh Thy all-encompassing grace which hath surrounded the dwellers of Thy earth and heaven. There is no God but Thee, the Giving, the Generous. O my Lord! I beseech Thee by the stars of the heaven of Thy knowledge and the suns of the horizons of Thy grandeur to ordain for me that which beseemeth Thy bounty and favors, and is worthy of Thy generosity and bestowals. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, the Forgiving, the Chosen, the Mighty, the Great.
BH06540: A remembrance from Us unto those who have soared…
In the Name of Him Who is Sovereign over all names.
A remembrance from Us unto those who have soared in the atmosphere of love and knowledge until they reached the station wherein was raised the call: “Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing.” The world hath been adorned with the lights of the Most Great Name, yet most of the people remain heedless and astray. They who have turned unto the Countenance are the people of Baha in the Crimson Book, and they who remained heedless are among the people of the fire. How many a learned one hath remained remote from the ocean of knowledge, and how many an ascetic hath turned away from God, the Lord of lords! Blessed is he who hath cast away vain imaginings and turned unto God, the Lord of Days. Give thanks unto God for having attained unto His Hidden Name when it appeared with grandeur and power. Beseech God to aid thee to remain steadfast in this Cause whereby the back of every doubting denier hath been made to tremble. Beware lest anything hold thee back from God. Cling unto Him, detached from all else. The world and whatsoever is therein shall perish, but that which hath been revealed for thee shall endure. Know thou this and say: “Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of all mankind!”
BH06759: Another letter from Mulla Baqir, upon him be Baha…
Another letter from Mulla Baqir, upon him be Baha, has attained the honor of being heard before Our presence. The schemes and machinations of heedless souls are manifest and evident before God….
He mentioned Fath’ali Yavar. He hath spoken the truth. Say: O Baqir, O thou who gazest upon the Countenance! Faithfulness to the Covenant and Testament beseemeth the sincere ones, the near ones, and the assured ones—not the wood-turners of the earth. No soul is worthy of this most exalted station save he who hath purified his heart and soul through repentance and turning unto God, the Lord of the Throne and of the dust. He, verily, is the Ever-Forgiving, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise….
BH06411: Praise be to God that the Sun of divine…
In the Name of the One God!
Praise be to God that the Sun of divine favor hath risen and shone forth from the horizon of bounty, and that the ocean of grace in this blessed Day is manifest and surging. Blessed is the soul that hath been illumined by the light of the Sun of Revelation and hath drunk from this ocean. We beseech God to make the evanescence of the world and its differences ever-apparent and visible before the eyes of souls who have turned towards Him, and to make manifest the permanence of exalted stations, that all may hold fast to that which is befitting this Day and not be deprived of the Most Great Name by reason of what existeth in the world.
Thy letter which thou didst send in care of the Servant was received, and from it was inhaled the sweet fragrance of divine love. We beseech the Exalted One to ordain for thee that which shall profit thee in all the worlds of His worlds. Verily He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful. God willing, mayest thou ever drink from the Kawthar of the Merciful’s love and be occupied with His remembrance. The glory be upon thee and upon all who have turned towards the Most Sublime Horizon and recognized that which hath been revealed by God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH06415: My God, my God! Thy grief hath consumed me…
In the Name of our Lord, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
My God, my God! Thy grief hath consumed me, Thy imprisonment hath set me ablaze, and Thy tribulation hath caused my death. Would that I had never existed when I heard the lamentations of Thy heart through what the hands of Thine enemies have wrought, and would that I had not been created to witness what hath befallen Thee from the tyrannous ones among Thy creatures. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the world and Creator of the nations, by Thy Most Great Name, to assist Thy loved ones to remember and praise Thee. Then protect them, O my God, from the evil of Thine enemies, and ordain for them what Thou hast ordained for Thy trusted ones and Thy chosen ones, and what Thou hast revealed in Thy Book. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous.
My God, my God! Thou seest the one who hath turned to Thee and spoken Thy remembrance and praise, and desired the treasury of Thy bounty and generosity. I beseech Thee by the waves of the ocean of Thy bestowal to assist him in all conditions to remain steadfast in Thy love and service to Thy Cause, and ordain for him that which will draw him nigh unto Thee. Verily, Thou art He Whom no earthly power can weaken and no might of nations can prevent. Thou doest what Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH06427: Verily God and His angels and His chosen ones…
He is the Silent Speaker
Verily God and His angels and His chosen ones and His messengers and His friends glorify those who have drunk from the Kawthar of steadfastness in such wise that nothing whatsoever hath deterred them from God, the Lord of existence. These are the people of God in the Great Scroll and the people of faithfulness in My Preserved Tablet. O people of Baha! Hearken unto that whereunto the Tongue of Grandeur calleth you—verily there is no God but Him, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. I created the world for My remembrance and praise, after the recognition of My Self, which dominateth over all witness and witnessed. Say: O people! The Most Great Scene hath appeared and the Lord of Destiny proclaimeth with the most exalted call: The King of Names hath come, and sovereignty belongeth unto God, the Lord of the Kingdom.
We make mention of God and summon all to the supreme horizon—whoso respondeth, to his own gain, and whoso denieth, verily He is independent of those who have disbelieved and denied. There is no God but Him, the Truth, the Knower of the unseen. When thou hast attained unto My Tablet and heard My call, make mention of My days and what hath befallen Me at the hands of those who oppress. The glory be upon thee and upon those who gaze toward Him.
BH06552: A remembrance unto him who hath turned unto My…
In the Name of the Mighty, the All-Bestowing!
A remembrance unto him who hath turned unto My Kingdom, heard My call and responded thereunto through My grace, and I am verily the Answerer. Today, everyone who hath turned hath attained victory and prospered exceedingly, while he who turned away hath suffered loss, even though he be the one possessed of knowledge and wisdom. When We sent down the verses and revealed the clear proofs, there arose against Us one who had been concealed behind a thick veil. He came forth saying “I am your Lord, the Most High.” We said: “Perdition unto thee, O thou who associateth partners with God and art far removed from Him!” We have counseled all in the Book with that which profiteth them, yet We have found the people to be heedless, save whom thy Lord willeth, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Praiseworthy.
Say: This is the Day of Manifestation, the Day wherein mankind hath arisen unto God. Blessed is he who hath heard what the All-Merciful hath revealed in the Qur’an and then in the Bayan, and woe unto the deniers. The people have turned away, yet the people have arisen to serve God, the Lord of all worlds. Grieve thou not over anything. Rather, rejoice in that a noble Tablet hath been sent unto thee from the presence of the All-Merciful. Verily there is none other God but Him, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH06621: In My Name, the Stranger, the Sorrowful
In My Name, the Stranger, the Sorrowful
Alas, alas, O Sovereign of faithfulness! Alas, alas, O King of justice in all creation! Do we behold Thee imprisoned in the hands of the most wicked of creatures, or do we see Thee martyred in the path of God, the Lord of all beings? By Thy glory, O Thou Who art named with the letter Ha’, grievous is it to the people of Baha to hear what hath befallen Thee in Thy love for God, the Lord of the throne on high and of the dust below. And grievous is it to the Most Great Name to behold the world yet not behold Thee, and to hear the clamor of the nations yet not hear Thy cry and Thy confidings.
By God’s life, all things lament Thy tribulation, and the Supreme Pen weepeth between the fingers of the Lord of all names. We testify that he who hath risen up to harm Thee is among those who in every age have disbelieved in God, the Lord of both this world and the next. Thou art He through whom the preamble of the Book of faithfulness was adorned in the kingdom of creation, and through whom the temple of servitude was beautified amidst the manifestations of all names. Perdition unto the people who wronged Thee after the balance of justice was established through Thee in the days of Thy Lord, the Most Glorious. Thus have We mentioned Thee aforetime, and at this moment from My Most Exalted Pen.
BH06662: The Lord of all beings hath testified…
He is the Most Ancient, the Most Great!
The Lord of all beings hath testified to that which [the Youth] hath testified in these days—that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
Faces have turned black and souls have changed when the King of Kings came with proof and evidence. Those who have been seized by the wine of passion have turned away from God, the Lord of all beings, and denied Him Whom they had been invoking at all times. Every sect hath followed a name among names and thereby opposed God, the Source of Inspiration.
Blessed is the one strong whom armies have not frightened, and the one steadfast whom the signs of those who have denied the Beginning and the Return have not prevented.
Say: Beware lest vain imaginings prevent you from the Dawning-Place of your Lord’s Revelation, the Revealer of verses. None should object to the people. It behooveth every soul who hath believed in God to hold fast unto what is virtuous in all conditions. Whoso hath turned unto Him hath done so for his own self, and whoso hath turned away—verily He is the Self-Sufficient, the Most High.
Blessed art thou for having turned and attained unto that whereby thy mention shall endure in the Book of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. Glory be upon thee and upon whosoever hath heard the call of [God] from this Spot.
BH06667: The Sun of Beauty hath set from one house…
In the Name of Him Who standeth over His Cause
The Sun of Beauty hath set from one house and risen from the horizon of another. Blessed be God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. We left the house and entered the house of Kalim an hour before sunrise. Thus was the matter decreed by the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. When We entered, We found some of the loved ones standing by the door and others waiting in prison. We glorified God before their faces and sat for a time. Then after that We arose and spoke, having been silent. He, verily, is the All-Informed. Then We sat and drank that which in number equaled Our name, the All-Bountiful, and We associated with those who believed in God, the Mighty, the Great. All this transpired on a day which God hath made a festival for those who fast for the sake of God, the Lord of the worlds.
O my God and the God of all names, and Creator of the heavens! I beseech Thee by Thy greatest signs and by the manifestations of Thy sanctification in the kingdom of creation, to adorn the temples of those who fast with the robe of Thy grace and forgiveness. Then ordain for them, through Thy bounty and favors, the good of this world and the next. Verily, Thou art the Mighty, the Kind, the Generous.
BH06674: In My Most Great Name!
In My Most Great Name!
The Book hath spoken before the face with that which the Bayan spoke concerning this Manifest Remembrance. Say: This is a Revelation that hath no likeness in creation, and thereby is established the unity of His Essence and the sanctification of His Self, the All-Encompassing over the worlds. Say: Through this Revelation the decree of origination is established and the Nightingale of the All-Merciful hath sung upon the branches of the Tree of Utterance that “There is none other God beside Me, the Single, the All-Informed.” Say: Whosoever affirmeth a likeness hath indeed associated partners with God—to this doth the Ancient Beauty testify from His exalted station.
Say: O people of the Bayan! This is the Originator of the heavens and earth, were ye of them that know. Fear God and deny not that in which ye have believed, and commit not that which the people of the Furqan committed aforetime. Fear God and be not of the ignorant ones.
Thus hath soared the Bird of Knowledge and cooed the Dove of Utterance upon the branches of the Divine Lott-Tree that thou mayest thank thy Creator, thy Sustainer, and thy Bearer of Glad-Tidings through this wondrous and original Tablet. When My fragrance hath enraptured thee and thou hast found the sweet-scents of My utterance, say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O God of the world, for having enabled me to recognize the Dawning-Place of Thy firm and wise Command!”
BH06688: Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I…
He is the Remembering One, the Speaker, the Expositor, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise
Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I bear witness to Thy loftiness and Thy transcendence, Thy sublimity and Thy exaltation. Thus do I acknowledge Thy oneness and confess Thy singleness, submitting to Thy grandeur and Thy sovereignty, and standing before the gate of Thy mercy, turning toward Thy countenance after the passing of the people of Thy kingdom. I beseech Thee, O Thou Who removest sorrows and causest rivers to flow, to protect me from the evil of the enemies of Thy Self and to enable me to attain unto the station which Thou hast ordained in Thy Book. Then regard me in all conditions with the glances of Thy favors, that Thou mayest keep me from all else save Thee and occupy me with Thy remembrance and praise, and with the recollection of the days when I was under Thy shadow.
O my Lord! I am he who migrated with Thee and traversed land and sea until I entered into Thy Most Great Prison and drank the choice wine of Thy bounty in all conditions. O Thou in Whose grasp is the dominion of nations! I beseech Thee to assist me in serving Thee amongst Thy servants and in remembering Thee amongst Thy creatures in such wise that neither the affairs of the kingdom nor the veils of earth shall prevent me. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Bountiful.
BH06732: This is a Book sent down in truth…
He is the All-Knowing Witness
This is a Book sent down in truth from God, the Lord of the worlds. Therein is mentioned one who turned to the Face when every ignorant and remote one turned away from it. The servant in attendance before the Throne has presented thy letter after permission was granted. We have answered thee in truth through this perspicuous Tablet. Blessed is the face that hath turned toward God, and the ear that hath heard His call, and the hand that hath taken hold of His wondrous and mighty Book. We have found from thy call the fragrance of thy love. We have remembered thee as a favor from Us. Verily thy Lord is the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous. Beware lest the affairs of creation hold thee back from the Truth.
Arise and say: “God is my Lord and the Lord of all who are in the heavens and earths.” Thus have We opened unto thee the gate of grace and remembered thee with that which shall endure as long as My most beautiful names and most exalted attributes endure. Verily thy Lord is the All-Explaining, the All-Knowing. Rejoice thou in My remembrance of thee and say: “Praise be unto Thee for having remembered me while I was in the hands of the oppressors.” I beseech Thee to assist me to serve Thy Cause. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest and Thou art the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Generous.
BH06782: This is what hath been sent down…
This is what hath been sent down from the heaven of the loving-kindness of our Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
This is a Book that beareth witness to your condition and to what hath befallen you both in the path of God, the Mighty, the Most Praised. We make mention of you and draw you nigh and give you to drink from the hand of My bounty that encompasseth the worlds. Verily the Cause is in God’s hands alone—He ordaineth for you what He willeth. He is with you under all conditions. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Turn ye unto the Scene that is indeed the Most Great. This is a station whereby all the Books have been adorned with its mention. Thus hath the Command flowed from the Pen of God, the Supreme, the Self-Subsisting.
Blessed are ye for having attained unto the Most Great Bounty and followed the precepts of God, the Mighty, the Beloved. We have accepted what ye desired in the path of God and have sent down concerning that clear verses, to which My tongue and the servant in attendance before My mighty and inaccessible Throne do testify. Thus was the matter decreed when mention was made of Ism-i-Jud and that which Noble One had composed appeared. Upon you be My glory and My loving-kindness and My mercy and My manifest favor. And praise be to God in all conditions. He is verily the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
BH06811: To be typed
To be typed.
BH11892: O son of Naddaf! Upon Ibrahim and upon thy…
O son of Naddaf! Upon Ibrahim and upon thy father and uncle be the favors of God, the Lord of the worlds. Turn with thy heart unto the Most Great Prison, inasmuch as the Lord of the worlds hath turned toward thee and mentioned thee in such wise as the mention of all nations cannot equal it. Verily thy Lord is the Almighty, the All-Powerful. Beware lest ye be saddened by the winds that have blown from the direction of hypocrisy. Hold ye fast unto the cord of the providence of your Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
O Ibrahim! My Pen weepeth over Me while the people are, for the most part, heedless. By God! The Primal Point took the Covenant of My Being before His own Covenant, and was speaking in My Name and heralding My Revelation and was submissive unto My firm and mighty Command. He hath commanded all who are in the Bayan to be submissive before My countenance and to stand at My door and to acknowledge whatsoever hath been revealed from My presence. To this testifieth that which was sent down from His presence, and every fair-minded and clear-sighted one doth confess it. He made mention of Me after He had established through clear proof the sanctification of My Being from whatsoever was revealed in the Bayan, saying:
“I have written a gem concerning His remembrance: He shall not be referred to by My reference nor by what hath been revealed in the Bayan.”
Thus did speak He Who sacrificed His spirit in My straight and manifest path…
BH07319: O beloved of the Lord in London! Know ye…
He is the Speaker before the Faces of His Servants
O beloved of the Lord in London! Know ye assuredly that He who had departed from your midst is come again. Verily He hath fulfilled His promise and manifested His Cause. He passeth amongst you at all times, and yet ye heed Him not. Will ye remain far removed from Him who seeketh naught but your nearness, and will ye reject Him to whose truth ye have day and night borne witness? He, verily, is come for your salvation and cherisheth no desire save your exaltation and advancement.
O My people! Will ye flee from My presence? Will ye turn away from your Best-Beloved, who loveth you and who standeth now before you? This is the Day wherein the rapture of divine revelation hath taken hold of all created things, the Day wherein He Who had been mentioned in the books of God, the All-Glorious, the All-Wise, hath been made manifest. Verily Sinai hath been graced to behold its Speaker, the Burning Bush to know its Herald, and the Vineyard of God to see its Beloved. Zion crieth out: O People! The city of God hath in truth descended from heaven, and that which the Prophets had announced unto you hath come to pass. Take heed lest the promptings of the self debar you from meeting your Beloved, Who hath come down from the heaven of inner meaning arrayed in His great glory.
BH07031: Haji Rida has attained the presence. He must give…
Haji Rida has attained the presence. He must give thanks to God for this.
The turning of the friends to this direction has not been and is not advisable for the Cause. It has nearly reached the point where it would become the cause and means of universal harm to the very root of the Blessed Tree. God is sufficient witness to this.
Today the victory of the Cause is necessary. They must fix their gaze upon this, not upon that which their souls desire. Easy indeed is the tarrying of the friends in various places, yet this too will cause harm. Soon that which is written shall become manifest.
The command of God is that if someone has not attained the presence and has crossed the sea, there is no objection should they turn towards the Most Holy Court. This is from My favor—I have consented to My own harm for the joy of My loved ones. And after arrival in the Holy Land and a stay of two or three days, they must return to their place. This is the command of God. Blessed are they that act accordingly.
Whoso heareth My word, verily he is of Me and shall be with Me in the realms of My power. The glory be upon you.
BH07090: May my spirit be a sacrifice for your presence…
He is God!
May my spirit be a sacrifice for your presence. That which you mentioned was presented before the Throne. He commanded: Write, O Mihdi! The affairs of God rest with God Himself, and He is never powerless to execute them. He doeth what He willeth and ordaineth what He pleaseth. Be neither distressed nor saddened regarding outward affairs that pertain to God. Whatever He willeth will assuredly come to pass and be made manifest. If you truly have no need of the sum you mentioned, give it to this servant in attendance so that he may pay some debts. But if it is needed—that is, if there is some need, meaning it might prove useful and could be invested in trade—then certainly keep it. The command rests with God, the Lord of all worlds. End.
May the glory from the Lord, the Master of Names, be upon you and upon those with you and upon all who are steadfast and firm.
BH07120: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…
He is the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious!
Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant who hath turned his face toward the sanctuary of Thy oneness, who hath taken shelter beneath the tabernacle of Thy divine unity, who hath sought refuge in the cave of Thy holy mercy, who hath fled unto Thy presence and sought protection at Thy threshold, who hath detached himself from all else but Thee and come unto Thee, who hath turned his face purely toward Thee, and who hath called upon Thee in his inner and outer being, communing with Thee with both heart and tongue, hoping that Thou wouldst give him to drink from the camphor-fountains through Thy holy hands and grant him the fruits of Paradise from the tree of Thy oneness.
I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thy Beauty through which the horizons were illumined, and by Thy Name at which all in the kingdom of creation cried out, that Thou assist him with the confirmations of Thy divine Oneness and ordain for him every good thing Thou hast created in the heaven of Thy creativity. Verily, Thou art the All-Giving, the Merciful.
Now since affairs in this land are in turmoil, therefore the journey of that honored one is difficult. God willing, through divine grace and favor, permission will hereafter be granted at the appropriate time according to what is desired. What you sent has been received.
BH07087: A remembrance from One Who hath testified…
In the name of God, the All-Seeing, the Ever-Present!
A remembrance from One Who hath testified to that whereunto God Himself hath testified: that there is none other God but Him, that He might make the fragrance of the Bayan to remain steadfast in the Cause of the All-Merciful, Who hath appeared with such conclusive proof as the hosts of the invisible and visible realms combined cannot withstand. Blessed is he whose might hath not been weakened by the conditions of creation, and who hath arisen and turned toward God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.
We have found thee turning toward Our countenance, wherefore We make mention of thee in this Book which hath been detailed from Our Preserved Tablet. Hold fast unto the Book of God and whatsoever hath been revealed therein, and cling to the hem of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, the Lord of all existence. Beware lest the book of the evil ones hold thee back from the Most Exalted Horizon, and the tree of Zaqqum from My glorious station.
When the clamor is raised, leave thou the clamorer behind thee, then speak forth that which the All-Merciful hath revealed in the Bayan, saying:
“He cannot be known except through Him, nor can He be mentioned save through Himself.”
Thus hath the matter been decreed, yet most of the people understand not.
Glory be upon those who have arisen to serve the Cause in such wise that neither weapons nor hosts could deter them.
BH07400: O ʿAli-Qabli-Muhammad! The Supreme Pen hath turned toward thee…
In the Name of the All-Seeing, the All-Speaking!
O ʿAli-Qabli-Muhammad! The Supreme Pen hath turned toward thee and maketh mention of thee. He, in truth, is the Comforter and the Consoler, the true Educator and spiritual Master. He was and ever shall be God, exalted be His glory and His grandeur! Praise be to God that thou hast attained unto the fragrances of His days and dwelt and continueth to dwell beneath the shade of His all-embracing mercy. Strive thou to preserve this most great station. That which is beloved and desired in this day, after the recognition of God, is steadfastness in His Cause.
Ye must conduct yourselves with the utmost wisdom and drink from the chalice of the love of God at all times. This is the Kawthar that bestoweth eternal life and conferreth everlasting remembrance. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the Salsabil of the utterance of the All-Merciful in these days wherein the Divine Lote-Tree hath proclaimed: The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Lord of all worlds.
Glory be upon you and upon those who are with you and have believed in God, the One, the All-Informed.
BH07216: In My Name, the Manifest, the Triumphant!
In My Name, the Manifest, the Triumphant!
Say: O my God, my God! Why didst Thou create eyes for Thy servants and bestow upon them insight through Thy grace? If Thou hast given them to behold Thy beauty and gaze upon the lights of Thy countenance, then remove the veils therefrom through Thy bounty and favors. And if Thou didst create them, O my God, for aught else, then all things bear witness that they are in a loss than which there can be none greater in Thy dominion. By Thy might, O Thou Beloved of my heart and Purpose of my soul! I would rather Thou shouldst torment me with a torment than which there can be none greater in Thy knowledge, and ordain for me the sweetness of meeting Thee.
O Lord! I was sleeping when the breeze of Thy Day of Manifestation stirred me. When it awakened me, it inspired me with that of which I was heedless in Thy days. O Lord! I caught Thy fragrance and hastened unto Thee. I beseech Thee by Thy grace not to deprive me of what Thou hast ordained in Thy Book of the wonders of Thy bounty, nor to withhold from me steadfastness in Thy Cause. Write down for me then, O my God, with Thy Most Exalted Pen, the good of this world and the world to come. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the All-Mighty.
BH07094: He Who speaks in the Kingdom of Utterance!
He Who speaks in the Kingdom of Utterance!
Glorified be He Who has manifested Himself amongst the peoples, whereby the horizon of the world was illumined, yet most of the people remain heedless. The strong one is he who has turned and drunk the wine of life in His name, the Mighty, the Wondrous. He verily aids him with a sovereignty from His presence. He is the Powerful, the Almighty.
O Mim! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged One. He makes mention of thee from this noble station. By God! What the people possess shall profit them not. Soon shall they find themselves in manifest loss. Blessed is he who has turned to the Most Exalted Horizon and heard the Call which has been raised from this Most Glorious Station. He is of them who have attained unto all good, to this testifieth the Tongue of Grandeur, and behind it those who circle round the mighty Throne.
Give thanks unto God for having caused thee to hear His call and for having turned His face toward thee with His luminous countenance. Hold fast to the hem of His mercy and cleave unto that which thou hast been commanded in a perspicuous Tablet. Glory be unto those who have cast away vain imaginings and taken hold of that which they were bidden by the Dayspring of Certitude. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH07369: O Husayn! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
O Husayn! Hearken unto the call of the Wronged One Who crieth out from the precincts of the prison. He, verily, is none other than God, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting. All things have testified to My being wronged after My power, and to My tribulation after My sovereignty, yet the people understand not. Rejoice thou in My remembrance, for through it the fragrance of the All-Merciful hath wafted over all created things and hearts and minds have been illumined. We turn unto him who hath turned unto God, and make mention of him who hath uttered His praise. To this testifieth the Preserved Book that is with Him. He through Whom the Concourse on high hath been gladdened and the carpet of divine knowledge hath been outspread between earth and heaven—they have seized Him and imprisoned Him in this fortress that none may approach. Yet God, through His sovereignty, opened the door, and He went forth in spite of those who disbelieved in God, the Lord of what was and what shall be. The Cause is in His grasp—He doeth whatsoever He willeth through His sovereignty that encompasseth all who see and are seen. We made mention of thee before, and in this Tablet, that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord, the Mighty, the Loving.
BH07389: O ʿAbdu’l-Ghafúr! Verily, the Mount recounteth the mysteries…
He is the All-Seeing, Who gazeth forth from His Most Exalted Horizon.
O ʿAbdu’l-Ghafúr! Verily, the Mount recounteth the mysteries of the Manifestation, and the Lote-Tree proclaimeth: “The kingdom is God’s, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting.” Blessed the ear that hath hearkened to the call, and the eye that hath attained to the vision of the tokens, in this Day whereon every sick one is healed, every tongue once halting is loosed, and every blind one beholdeth, through a command from God, the Lord of existence.
O friends and loved ones of God! We exhort you to that whereby your stations shall be exalted. Fear God, and be not of them that look and yet deny.
And when thou hast quaffed the wine of utterance in the nights of tender mercy and loving-kindness, then say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O my God, inasmuch as Thou hast guided me to the horizon of Thy Manifestation, and hast made known unto me that which was hidden in Thy knowledge. I beseech Thee by the banners of Thy Cause and the standards of Thy guidance to aid me in Thy service among Thy servants, and in Thy remembrance throughout Thy lands.
“O Lord! Ordain for me that which shall make me severed from all save Thee, and clinging to the hem of the robe of Thy mercy. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, the All-Flowing, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.”
BH06966: Verily We make mention of the servants of God…
He is the All-Seeing, the All-Hearing, the Answerer.
Verily We make mention of the servants of God, both men and women, and gave them glad tidings in the Dispensation of the Bayan of this Name through which the Nightingale warbled upon the branches by leave of the All-Merciful.
The Promise hath appeared and the Promised One hath come with a Cause before which neither the might of princes, nor the power of divines, nor the wealth of the rich, nor whatsoever hath been created in the heavens and on earth can stand.
He speaketh and uttereth: O people of the earth! The Lord of Heaven hath come with the Kingdom of Names, through His Most Glorious Name, whereby the Concourse on High rejoiced and every wearer of a white turban lamented—they who seized upon idle fancies and cast certainty behind their backs, following their own desires. Verily they are among the heedless. Verily they are among the wrongdoers. Verily they are among the opposers.
Say: Praise be to Thee, O my God, for having aided me in a Cause from which the leaders of lands and the divines among the servants were hindered. I testify that Thou art the Omnipotent over whatsoever Thou willest, and in Thy grasp is the key of heaven. Thou withholdest and Thou givest, and verily Thou are the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous.
BH07086: My remembrance is her companion, and a light unto…
He is the Mighty, the Wise!
My remembrance is her companion, and a light unto her, and her helper in all the worlds of her Lord. Verily He giveth her the glad-tidings of My loving-kindness, and informeth her of My grace, and causeth her to know My Self, and giveth her assurance in My days, and giveth her to drink from the Kawthar of My mercy and the Salsabil of My knowledge, and leadeth her to a station wherein all that is on earth shall not prevent her from attaining unto the kingdom of My verses and the dominion of My utterance and the heaven of My generosity and the horizon of My bestowal and the ocean of My knowledge and the sun of My manifestation which hath shone forth from the horizon of My mighty prison.
Rejoice thou in My Tablet and My traces, and say: O God of Heaven! I beseech Thee and implore of Thee but one request, and it is that Thou make me steadfast in Thy Cause and Thy love, for I have recognized through Thy grace that Thy Cause is mighty, mighty indeed. I ask Thee to assist me and enable me to do that which Thou lovest and art pleased with. Verily Thou art the Lord of all beings and the Sovereign of the throne on high and of the dust below. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing.
BH06942: O Asad! There hath come before the Throne thy…
O Asad! There hath come before the Throne thy letter which thou didst send to Ism-i-Mihdi. We have seen it and address thee with this clear discourse. By the life of God! Every letter thereof is decisive utterance from which every sincere and faithful one may drink the water of life. We read thy letter when We were in a place built in the name of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Grieve thou not over anything, but distribute the living waters among the concourse of creation with wisdom and utterance. This will profit thee and through it thy mention shall endure in My Kingdom wherein all that is therein proclaimeth that there is none other God but Him, the Speaker, the Rememberer, the Mighty, the All-Informed.
Give thou glad tidings of My remembrance unto My loved ones. We send Our greetings upon their faces from this exalted station.
It behooveth everyone who hath turned unto the Most Sublime Horizon to arise to serve his Lord through the wisdom We have sent down in a preserved Tablet. Remind My servants that perchance they may awaken and hearken unto this Call which hath been raised in truth at all times.
The glory be upon thee and upon them and upon everyone who hath clung to the hem of God, the Holy, the Mighty, the Luminous.
BH07349: O denizens of the realm of creation! Hearken unto…
He is the One Who calleth between earth and heaven:
O denizens of the realm of creation! Hearken unto the call of the Lord of the Kingdom of Names. He verily draweth you nigh and bringeth you unto the most exalted station. They that are brought near have attained unto the outpourings of this Most Great Ocean, from whose waves is heard: “The Light hath come, and the Mount is illumined thereby, and the Voice of the Tree is raised: ʿVerily, I am God, there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.”’
We have sent down the verses and made manifest the clear tokens, yet the people are in strange doubt. Fear ye God, O people of the Bayan, and follow not the manifestations of fancy and vain imaginings. The Light hath appeared and by it the heaven of utterance hath been illumined. Blessed is he who hath witnessed and seen, and woe unto every heedless one who hath denied God’s proof and evidence, and hath committed that which hath caused the clouds to lament.
Blessed art thou, inasmuch as the Ancient Beauty hath turned toward thee from His Most Great Prison, and made mention of thee in such wise as to cause thy remembrance to endure in the Book of God, the Lord of all men.
BH07058: This is a mention from Us to him who…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great!
This is a mention from Us to him who desires to hear the melodies of the birds of the Divine Throne, that they may draw him to the Kingdom of God, the Mighty, the Bestower. We have sent thee a Tablet before this, from which was wafted the fragrance of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Gracious. And this is yet another time that He remembereth thee from this Prison, in this Station, with that which summoneth the people unto God, the Mighty, the Most High. Say: O people! By the life of God, neither the world nor what is therein shall profit you. Hold ye fast unto the Most Great Cord and turn ye unto God, the Lord of all religions. Say: Ponder ye on that which He hath sent down unto you, then observe and reflect upon the bygone ages and what God hath decreed therein. He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Place thy trust in all things in God, then remember Him with joy and radiance. We have sent unto thee one whom God hath loved—honor thou his abode—perchance thy Lord, the Mighty, the Unconstrained, may benefit thee thereby. The Glory be upon thee and upon those who have cast away the world and believed in God, the Lord of all men.
BH07381: O Zaynu’l-Muqarrabin! Upon thee be My glory and My…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the Most Powerful
O Zaynu’l-Muqarrabin! Upon thee be My glory and My loving-kindness. Jinab-i-ʿAbdu’l-Karim appeared before Us with the letter of Jinab-i-Mulla Muhammad-Baqir, and it attained unto the honor of being heard. These souls have each been blessed by the grace of God, exalted be His glory, and adorned with the signs of the Most Exalted Pen. We beseech God that He may aid them all to perform such deeds whose fragrance shall never be cut off from the cities of justice and fairness. Some time ago, as commanded, this servant sent a letter containing divine verses addressed to the aforementioned one, upon whom be My glory. The ocean of mercy was surging therein and the sun of divine loving-kindness was dawning and shining forth from the horizon of its words. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the Kawthar of My Cause and the choice wine of My wondrous utterance. On behalf of the Wronged One, convey greetings to all and remind them of the signs of the Most Exalted Pen. The glory of God be upon thee and upon him and upon whosoever loveth thee and hearkeneth unto thy words concerning this Most Great Announcement.
BH06977: May you ever be and continue to be…
In the name of the peerless Lord!
May you ever be and continue to be the recipient of the favors of the Eternal Beloved and occupied with His praise, and in all times strive to attain unto lasting stations. By My life! What thou seest today shall pass away, and what shall endure for thee in the kingdom of earth and heaven is thy love for thy Glorious and Bountiful Lord. Praise be to God that thou hast turned towards the Kaaba of thy Friend and partaken of the choice sealed wine. Now must thou preserve it through the name of Truth, for the wayfarers are many who would cut off the path. Ask thou God to assist thee in His Cause and to open before thee the gates of goodly deeds. Verily He is the Mighty, the Bestower. The favors of Truth have been and shall continue to be with thee. Blessed is the soul that spends its precious moments in spiritual virtues and goodly deeds. Remember thou what We have counseled thee, then render thanks unto God Who created thee and sustained thee and aided thee to recognize His mighty Cause. And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH06988: O friend! The decree of wisdom stands firm…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful
O friend! The decree of wisdom stands firm, and thus this Wronged One is prevented from mentioning the warbling of the nightingale of divine knowledge. For several years We sojourned in those regions and their surroundings, and associated with many different kinds of people. The fragrances of the roses of inner meanings were diffused and the waters of knowledge were flowing, yet few were the seekers. Glory be to God! The peoples of the world, despite their searching and expectation, are observed to be heedless. The people are occupied with the people, and remain heedless of and veiled from the Truth. Most strange it is that you have turned toward the Friend and sent a letter to the Wronged One of the horizons. God willing, you shall witness from God, exalted be His glory, the recompense of this praiseworthy deed. At the close of this letter, We counsel you with that which befitteth man: to be patient and forbearing, trustworthy and religious, truthful and faithful. The Command is in the hands of God, the Lord of all names and Creator of the heavens. God willing, may you be confirmed in all conditions and occupied with the remembrance of God, exalted be His glory.
BH07093: Glorified be He Who has manifested the Manifestation…
In the Name of the Most High, the Most Great!
Glorified be He Who has manifested the Manifestation of His Self and caused Him to speak forth verses which all the pens of the world and every diligent scholar have been powerless to enumerate. When the standards were raised and the Cause was manifested, there emerged from behind the veil one who turned away from the All-Wise, the Single One, and said what those who denied God had said—nay, even worse. Thus do their desires move them as they please. They are indeed among the heedless ones. They say “We believe in God and His verses.” Say: By what discourse did you turn away from Him of Whom the verses speak every morn and eve? Thus have their hearts been hardened because they followed him who arose in hypocrisy when the Orb of the Cause dawned from the horizon of Iraq with His wondrous sovereignty. Hearken unto what We have recounted unto thee. My Pen, which hath never been still in the days of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, moveth at all times and speaketh amidst all created things, yet most of the people remain heedless. Thus have We revealed unto thee what was hidden in thy Lord’s knowledge, that thou mayest read and give thanks unto thy Lord, the All-Evident, the Most Generous.
BH07097: Glorified be He Who hath sent down the verses…
He is the Mighty, the Great!
Glorified be He Who hath sent down the verses, and they are clear evidences from God for those who have believed and turned to the Dawning-Place of His wise command. They who have attained unto recognition—these are among the people of this noble scene, and they who have disbelieved—these are among the people of the veil, inscribed in a glorious tablet. O people of the earth! Hearken unto the call which hath been raised from heaven, and be not of the heedless ones. Beware lest the conditions of the world withhold you from the Most Great Name. Cast them behind you, turning unto God, the Lord of all worlds. How many a servant have We counselled in the Book, yet he abandoned it, following his desires; and how many a servant acted according to that which was commanded by God, the Mighty, the Beautiful. For every mention in the Book—verily He is the All-Knowing Rememberer. When thou hast attained and read and understood what is in thy Lord’s tablet, say, turning to the Qiblih of existence: I beseech Thee to make me steadfast in Thy Cause, whereby the feet of the mystics have slipped.
BH07329: To be typed
To be typed.
BH11824: He hath dawned from the horizon of immortality!
He hath dawned from the horizon of immortality!
Thy letter came before the Countenance in the Most Great Prison and attained the honor of being heard by the Lord of Eternity. This deed of thine is better in the sight of God than the deeds of those souls who spent years studying and teaching in schools, for the fruit of thy deed hath been the remembrance and praise of God, while the fruit of those heedless souls’ deeds was the martyrdom of the Primal Point Who gave the glad-tidings of this Most Great Announcement to all created things. One must reflect upon the fruits and deeds of the peoples of the world, for whosoever becometh aware and informed of the Cause of God remaineth firm and steadfast. The Glory be upon thee and upon thy wife and thy son, from God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. We convey Our greetings to the friends in that land. We beseech God that He may aid them all to stand firm. He verily hath power over all things and is the All-Powerful.
BH07600: The one God adorned man with the ornament…
In the name of the Desire of the world
The one God adorned man with the ornament of utterance, and this utterance is special to him and through it man is distinguished from animal. In the Furqan, which distinguishes between truth and falsehood, He says: “He created man, taught him utterance.” Blessed are those souls who today have drunk the water of everlasting life from the hand of divine bestowal. The intimations of the world and the might of nations and their turning away and heedlessness did not prevent those holy souls. They let go what was with the people and took up what appeared from divine inspiration with heavenly power and might.
Today men and women are seen on the same plane. But O my handmaiden, by what the Tongue of Grandeur has spoken in thy name in His Most Great Prison, we ask of God that He assist thee in that which is the cause of exaltation and the means of elevation. Verily thy Lord is the Hearer, the Answerer, the Single, the One, the Mighty, the Near.
BH07998: O my sister! For a long time no news…
He is God, exalted is He.
O my sister! For a long time no news from you has reached this prisoner. Therefore in these days, since the honored Shaykh Muhammad was bound for that direction, these two words were mentioned, that if you wish to know the state of this exile, by God, neither am I able to recount it nor are you able to hear it. Thus has it been ordained for my soul from the heaven of God, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Self-Subsisting. And surely by now you have heard some of these matters, and if you have not yet heard them, you shall hear them. In any case, my circumstance is beyond the pen, and my tribulation beyond mention, and my afflictions beyond reckoning. None knoweth them save God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. In any case, always write about your circumstances, and may his honor the Aqa ever remain preserved beneath God’s protecting shelter. And the glory be upon you.
BH07760: Thine ears have been honored by hearing the call…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious!
Thine ears have been honored by hearing the call of God, and thy letter hath attained the presence of thy Lord, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting, in the Most Great Prison. Thereupon the Supreme Pen was moved to write, and the leaves of the uttermost Lote-Tree sang, and the Tongue of Grandeur spoke in the Kingdom of eternity:
“Verily, there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Beloved.”
Rejoice thou at the tidings from thy Lord, for He remembereth thee in this forbidden spot and teacheth thee to say, while turning toward the Supreme Horizon:
Glorified art Thou, O Creator of the heavens and Maker of all things! I beseech Thee by the Name through which the lovers soared aloft and the call was raised throughout all regions and the yearning ones were consumed by the pain of separation, to send down from the heaven of Thy bounty that which will cause me to hold fast unto Thee and to be independent of all else besides Thee. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. I testify that within Thy grasp is the kingdom of creation. There is none other God but Thee, the Single One, the Almighty, the Alone, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Be thou assured through thy Lord’s grace. The glances of His loving-kindness have been directed toward thee. He, verily, is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
BH07909: O My handmaiden! Muhajir hath mentioned thee and laid…
He is the Compassionate, the All-Remembering, the All-Knowing
O My handmaiden! Muhajir hath mentioned thee and laid before Our Most Holy and Exalted Court thy services in the path of God. Blessed art thou for having succeeded in serving the Cause in days wherein the people of God were imprisoned through that which the hands of the heedless had wrought. The source and wellspring of corruption, and the dayspring and dawning-place of opposition, are the divines of the earth. Through the turning away of these heedless souls, the helpless people have remained deprived of the recognition of the Truth and forbidden from the Most Great Ocean. Be not grieved. We moreover testify that thou didst attain unto the presence of thy Lord in days when the Light was shining forth from the horizon of Iraq. We beseech God to assist thee under all conditions and enable thee to accomplish that which beseemeth His days. He, verily, is the Powerful, the Mighty.
We counsel thee to observe the most great chastity and supreme steadfastness, and likewise those women who have believed in God, the Lord of all worlds. The glory of God be upon thee and upon them and upon every soul that is steadfast and firm.
BH11660: O Safar-ʿAli! We have heard thy call and have…
In the name of the one true God!
O Safar-ʿAli! We have heard thy call and have turned toward thee from the direction of the prison. Today from the rustling of the Divine Lote-Tree this most exalted word is heard: O people of the world! The Hidden Beloved hath appeared and the concealed Mystery hath been made manifest in the assemblage of the world. Count ye as precious the time and be not deprived of the Most Great Bounty and the Momentous News. Blessed is the soul that hath heard this call and hath turned with heart toward the most exalted horizon. Gladden thou the friends in those regions with the remembrance of the One True Goal.
Say: Today is the day of grace, of service, and of steadfastness. Deprive not yourselves. With utmost lowliness and supplication beseech ye the Self-Sufficing Lord that He may assist you to mention Him, to praise Him, and to remain steadfast in His Cause. He is the Powerful, the Mighty. The Glory be upon thee and upon those who have quaffed the wine of utterance from the hands of the bounty of their Lord, the All-Merciful.
BH07957: O Abdul-Karim! Praise be to God, thou hast been…
O Abdul-Karim! Praise be to God, thou hast been and art confirmed in the service of the Cause. We testify that thou art among those who have turned unto God. Thou didst respond when the Call was raised from the Supreme Horizon, and didst turn when that which was hidden and concealed from eyes and sight was made manifest. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to open before thy face the door of His bounty and grace. Verily, He is the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. The glory shining from the horizon of the heaven of loving-kindness be upon thee and upon thy son and upon those who are with thee and who love thee for the sake of God, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing….
…Although mint is available, yet if they insist on sending it, there is no harm. In truth, his mint has spread throughout the world. We beseech God to open unto his face and the faces of His loved ones every good thing which He hath sent down in His Book….
…But write out the authorization for the association, and give it to Mirza Ḥusayn that he may deliver it—the matter pertaineth to the regulation…
BH07979: O Mashhadi Ali of Ishqabad! Upon thee be…
He is the Remembering One, the Helper, the Strong, the Powerful
O Mashhadi Ali of Ishqabad! Upon thee be the everlasting glory of God! Let not the affairs of the world and the clamor of nations grieve thee. Arise and say: O peoples of the earth! The Day hath come wherein God hath fulfilled His promise, such that He hath manifested Him Whose mention was hidden in knowledge and concealed from eyes and sight. We have remembered Our loved ones in Ishqabad in Tablets and have sent down for them that which shall endure as long as My most beautiful names and most exalted attributes endure, and the All-Bountiful, the Generous. Say: My God, my God! I beseech Thee by the light of Thy Cause that shineth forth and by that which lay hidden in the treasuries of Thy power, to ordain for me that which shall cause me to speak forth Thy name in Thy lands and to gaze upon Thy horizon. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful. O Lord! Deprive me not of what is with Thee and distance me not from the carpet of Thy nearness and the gate of Thy forgiveness. Verily Thou art the Commander, the Mighty, the Wise.
BH11659: O Khalil! Verily the All-Glorious hath heard thy call…
He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing!
O Khalil! Verily the All-Glorious hath heard thy call time and again, and hath answered thee through this Tablet, wondrous and sublime, from which the sincere ones perceive the fragrance of the utterance of the All-Merciful, that thy heart may rejoice and thou mayest be numbered among them that have attained unto the greatest gladness when the Most Luminous Perspective appeared from God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. We were seated upon the throne of utterance when the servant in attendance entered with thy letter and presented it before Our face. Verily thy Lord is the Hearer, the Answerer. Blessed art thou for having turned unto God and believed in Him on a day wherein most of the people have turned away, as attesteth the Book of God, the Mighty, the Wondrous. Rejoice thou in My remembrance of thee. Say:
Praise be unto Thee, O Thou through Whose Name the treasures of knowledge have been revealed from the repositories of Thy knowledge and will, and the preserved and hidden mysteries have emerged through Thy purpose, that Thou mayest inscribe for me, through Thy Most Exalted Pen, the good of the latter and the former world. Verily, Thou art the Lord of all creation. There is none other God but Thee, the Compassionate, the Bountiful.
BH11820: After completing this letter, a letter from the beloved…
After completing this letter, a letter from the beloved of hearts, Jinab-i-Mulla ʿAli-Akbar, upon him be the Glory of God and His favors, arrived. Praise be to God, it brought joy and gladness. Likewise, two letters from the beloved of hearts, Jinab-i-Aqa Mirza Asadu’llah, upon him be the Glory of God, arrived on this same day. This evanescent servant beseeches God, exalted be His glory, that he may be enabled to quickly write and send the reply.
Similarly, a letter arrived from the beloved of hearts, Jinab-i-Ibn-i-Abhar, upon both of them be the Glory of God and His mercy. Three sacred and exalted Tablets have thus far been revealed and sent in his name. One remains, which was not sent at once due to wisdom, but in those same days when his letter arrived, all Tablets were revealed and are present. From this evanescent one, renewed exalted greetings are extended through your good offices to each of the gentlemen and beloved ones.
BH07479: Tonight, which is Tuesday the nineteenth of the true…
Tonight, which is Tuesday the nineteenth of the true month, the letter from the Most Exalted Names reached this lowly one…
In truth, the expressions of those beloved ones caused boundless joy. Profit and blessing and bounty and sustenance and whatsoever is known as good in the world and counted as beneficent has been and is your portion. The written and verbal remembrances of those beloved ones bear witness to what was mentioned. Praise be to God, you have attained to that which was mentioned in the Prayer of Kumayl ibn Ziyad:
“Until all my deeds and my litanies become one litany, and my condition in Thy service becomes eternal.”
For the affairs of those beloved ones have been and are for the sake of God—manifestation and emergence from God, orientation toward God, and action for God. In this case, deeds are one litany and conditions are perpetual….
BH07522: Verily We make mention of those who have believed…
He is the One manifest through the Most Great Name
Verily We make mention of those who have believed in God, the Single One, the All-Informed, and We give them glad tidings of that which hath been ordained for them in the most exalted Kingdom. He, verily, is the Herald, the Forgiving, the Merciful. Blessed is he who hath turned towards God, turning away from those who disputed the verses when they were sent down from the heaven of the will of their Lord, the Ancient Revealer. O Qasim! Hearken unto the call that hath been raised from the luminous Spot, this Station that hath been named by all names in the Book of God, the Lord of all worlds. Verily He summoneth thee and those who have believed unto the Most Great Steadfastness in the Cause of God, the Sovereign of the throne on high and of the dust below. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed Teacher. God hath lifted the decree of disputation and contention, and hath ordained victory through remembrance and utterance. He, verily, is the Ordainer, the All-Wise. Hold fast unto the Sure Handle and cleave to the hem of His noble Name. He aideth whomsoever He willeth through a word from His presence. He, verily, is the Almighty, the All-Powerful.
BH07877: This is a Tablet revealed in truth, calling all…
He is the One Who has dominion over all names
This is a Tablet revealed in truth, calling all to God, the Lord of the worlds, and counseling all to justice and fairness and to that which befits this glorious and wondrous Day. We have heard thy mention and have remembered thee, and have revealed for thee that which brings solace to the eyes of those near to God. Hearken to the call from the prison from the Wronged One—verily there is no God but Him, the Single, the One, the All-Informed. Be thou steadfast in service to the Cause and speaking in remembrance of thy Lord, the Forgiving, the Generous. Hold fast to goodly deeds and leave all else behind thee, as commanded by thy Lord, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing. Remind the people with wisdom and utterance, and with pure fear of God, from thy Lord, the Wronged One, the Stranger. Rejoice in this Most Great Remembrance, then act in accordance with what befits this noble station. Should thou see one who turns to the Faith, glorify My Name before his face and give him the glad tidings of this mighty Revelation.
BH07589: Some time ago mention of you was revealed…
He is the One Who speaks the truth!
Some time ago mention of you was revealed from the Most Exalted Pen, and now once again, that you may give thanks to your Lord, the Generous.
The servant in attendance has read what has issued forth from the virgin spring of your sincerity and recognition in remembrance of God, the Lord of the worlds. The sovereign of tongues in these days is the tongue that speaks in remembrance of God, and the king of eyes is the eye that turns toward the Most Exalted Horizon. Praise be to God that you have attained the greatest bounty. God willing, through divine grace you will be assisted to preserve this station.
Convey greetings to the friends in that land and gladden them with the remembrance of God, exalted be His glory. Praise be to God, they have attained the most exalted wine in the name of the Lord of Names. Say: Strive to teach God’s Cause with wisdom and utterance. Verily, He commands you at the end of the Book to preserve your ranks and stations. He is, in truth, the Wise Counselor. The glory shining forth from God, the Mighty, the Praised, be upon you and upon them.
BH07476: Today the Mother Book, with the most exalted call…
In the Name of the All-Commanding, the All-Wise!
Today the Mother Book, with the most exalted call, summons the people of the mortal realm to that which will draw them near and elevate them. O people of God! This Day is the Day of assistance. The friends in all regions must, with wisdom and utterance, invite the people of the contingent world to the horizon of the appearance of the Lord of Religions, and must hold fast to that which is the cause of the nearness of the servants. God is the Witness and Testifier that at all times this Wronged One hath been engaged in mentioning the friends. Know ye with clear certainty that whatsoever hath flowed from the Most Exalted Pen shall appear word for word. He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
O Ahmad! Praise be to God that thou hast attained unto the blessed Word of unity. The Most Great Branch attained the presence and submitted that which thou didst mention, and it was adorned with the glory of His good-pleasure. We beseech God to ordain for you that which shall profit you. Verily, He knoweth better than you and loveth you for the sake of God, the Mighty, the Luminous.

O Habib! The Beloved remembereth thee, He for Whose separation the Concourse on High and God’s chosen ones, the Lord of Names, have lamented. When He came, the divines who followed vain imaginings and idle fancies turned away from Him.
Give thanks unto God for having aided thee in this Cause and caused thee to speak that which the Tongue of Grandeur hath spoken:
“Verily, there is none other God but Me, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.”
By God! The appointed time hath passed, the signs have appeared, and the horizon of the world hath been illumined with the lights of the countenance of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Loving. How many an ignorant one hath attained, and how many a learned one hath been barred! The Cause is in God’s hands—He aideth whom He willeth unto His outstretched path.
Cast aside what the learned possess and take what thou art bidden by God, the Ancient Lord. He is with thee under all conditions, He heareth and witnesseth, and He is in truth the Witness. There is none other God but Him, the One Who hath power over what was and what shall be.
BH07935: O Hafiz, may God preserve thee and strengthen thee…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful
O Hafiz, may God preserve thee and strengthen thee upon His straight path! We beseech God to ordain for thee the good of all His worlds. Verily, He is the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful. Thy letter hath come before Us, and We have found from it the fragrance of thy sincerity to God, the Lord of all worlds. We have answered thee with this letter that thou mayest rejoice and be of those who are filled with gladness.
Say: Glory be unto Thee, O Lord of the world and Sovereign of the nations! I beseech Thee by the Most Great Name which was hidden in Thy knowledge and treasured in the stronghold of Thy protection, to send down from the heaven of Thy bounty upon Thy servants that which will draw them nigh unto Thee and assist them in serving and obeying Thee, and to provide them with the table of knowledge and understanding. O Thou in Whose grasp is the reins of all creation! My Lord, I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy countenance and the fruits of the tree of Thy knowledge, to make me steadfast in Thy remembrance and praise, and reliant upon Thee in all conditions. Verily, Thou art the Self-Sufficing, the Most Exalted. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH07959: O Ali-Akbar—or ʿAli-before-Akbar! Verily We have made…
O Ali-Akbar—or ʿAli-before-Akbar! Verily We have made mention of all who have turned towards My Most Exalted Horizon through verses that cannot be equaled by any treasures or riches. This is a Day wherein eyes are transfixed and hearts are constricted. This is a Day wherein the eyes of the Concourse on High are gladdened and faces are illumined. This is a Day wherein the earth hath related its tidings and the Tongue of Grandeur hath spoken from the most exalted station:
“The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Lord of the Kingdom and of the Realm above!”
Beware lest anything prevent thee from God. Hold fast unto His cord and cling to His blessed hem. We make mention of thy son Mustafa-before-Quli and give him the glad-tidings of My mercy that hath preceded all existence. Be thou thankful unto God that the Countenance of the Ancient One hath turned toward thee and the Lord of all peoples, Who is imprisoned in this exalted place, maketh mention of thee. Be thou steadfast in service to the Cause and in speaking forth this Name whereby earthquakes have seized all the tribes of the earth save whom God hath willed, the Possessor of this perspicuous Day.
BH07829: This is a Book sent down in truth…
He is the All-Present, the All-Seeing, the All-Knowing.
This is a Book sent down in truth from God, the Lord of all worlds. It commands you to righteousness and godliness, and forbids you from transgression and wickedness. Thus has the Sun of Judgment shone forth from the horizon of God’s will, the Almighty, the Powerful.
O Hasan! We beseech God that He may make thee steadfast in His Cause and aid thee in that which is adorned with the ornament of His acceptance.
Corruption, conflict and contention have been forbidden. The friends must shun and keep far from whatsoever gives off the odor of corruption. We beseech God to assist His loved ones in that which is the cause of the tranquility and assurance of His servants. Verily, He is the Hearer, the Answerer.
Thy letter was received, and We have revealed for thee that which will draw thee nigh unto the One, the All-Informed, and ordain for thee that which shall profit thee in all the worlds of His worlds. Verily, He is the All-Bountiful, the All-Forgiving, the All-Generous.
BH07491: Verily, the All-Bountiful remembereth His servant Rahim…
In His Name, the One with power over whatsoever He willeth!
Verily, the All-Bountiful remembereth His servant Rahim, that the verses of his Lord may draw him to a station wherein all atoms proclaim: “The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Revealer of verses!”
Be thou in such wise that neither the conditions of the people sadden thee, nor the veils of any heedless doubter prevent thee. It behooveth everyone who hath turned unto God to be strong through the power of his Lord and to speak forth His remembrance with wisdom and utterance. Verily, We shall recompense those who have borne hardships in My path. He, verily, is the Giver, the Bestower.
We counsel you, O My loved ones, to observe calmness and dignity, and that whereby the Cause of God may be exalted throughout all lands. Grieve not over anything. He is with you and will aid you in accordance with what hath been ordained in the Scriptures and Tablets.
Remind the people of God and His verses, that perchance they may discover the fragrance of the Revelation and turn unto God, the Lord of all mankind. Whoso turneth, turneth but to his own gain, and whoso turneth away, the loss is his own. He, verily, is sanctified from all that is with the people, and He, verily, is the Self-Sufficient, the Most High.
