BH07921: O thou who hast turned toward the Most Exalted…

He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

O thou who hast turned toward the Most Exalted Horizon! Hearken unto the rustling of the Divine Lote Tree. Verily it draweth thee nigh unto God, the Lord of the worlds. When thou hast attained unto My Tablet and quaffed the choice wine of revelation from the chalice of My bounty, say:

Glory be unto Thee, O my God, the God of all names, and O my Desire and the Desire of all created things, and my Beloved and the Beloved of all contingent beings! I beseech Thee by the light of Thy Word through which the cities of wisdom and utterance were illumined, and by Thy Name through which the ocean of knowledge surged in the contingent world, to render my deeds adorned with the glory of Thy acceptance. O Lord! I am Thy handmaiden and the daughter of Thy handmaiden. Thy call hath awakened me and Thy verses have attracted me and the hands of Thy grace have delivered me. I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy countenance and the pearls of the ocean of Thy mercy to ordain for me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy circling handmaidens. Then assist me, O my Creator and my King, in that which causeth the fragrance of Thy good-pleasure to be diffused. Verily Thou art the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH07448: His honor Nabil Ibn-i-Nabil hath been the recipient…

His honor Nabil Ibn-i-Nabil hath been the recipient of favors and engaged in service from the earliest days until now, but in the great city there befell him that which caused grief to those near unto God. With the permission of this Wronged One he arrived in that land and attained unto His good-pleasure. We beseech God, exalted be His glory, to transform the sorrows that have come upon him into supreme joy, and We ask Him, exalted be He, to draw him nigh and ordain for him to attain the presence of the face of the Wronged One. Verily He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful.

O Nabil-i-Qabli-Ali! His honor Ali-Qabli-Akbar, upon him be My glory and loving-kindness, hath mentioned thee repeatedly. He hath been faithful to the Covenant and hath made mention of the friends of the All-Merciful in a scroll which he sent to the Wronged One. We have answered him at this time with this perspicuous Tablet. We beseech God to assist His loved ones at all times to that which shall conduce to the reformation of the world and the tranquillity of the nations. By My life! There shall appear from them that which God, the Lord of the mighty Throne, hath purposed.

BH07929: In My Name which speaketh before the faces…

In My Name which speaketh before the faces of the world!

O thou who gazest upon the Countenance! A mighty sacrifice hath appeared in the earth the like of which the eye of creation hath never beheld.

The horsemen in the arena of detachment were torn asunder by the wolves of the earth, inasmuch as the blessed powerful hands of the chosen ones were bound by the divine chain of restraint. There appeared from those souls that which caused the denizens of the Supreme Concourse, the Most Glorious Paradise and the Most Exalted Garden to cry out “Blessed be God!” They freely sacrificed their lives and deemed it impermissible to transgress the command of the True Ordainer. Therefore they held fast with beautiful patience, sublime steadfastness, submission and contentment. Unto such holy, pure and detached souls belong remembrance and praise, glory and splendor.

We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to aid thee and ordain for thee what He hath ordained for His trusted ones and chosen ones. Verily He is the Powerful, the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH07704: God beareth witness that there is none other God…

He is the All-Remembering, the All-Knowing

God beareth witness that there is none other God but Him, and He Who hath come with the truth is indeed the hidden Command and the treasured Mystery. Through Him were raised the standards of divine knowledge among all religions, and the Tongue of Grandeur hath spoken that which caused the limbs of the idols to tremble—those who have prevented the servants from drawing nigh unto the Most Great Sea, each wave of which proclaimeth before the faces of the nations:

“O people! The veils have been rent asunder and the All-Bestower hath come with manifest sovereignty.”

Blessed art thou for having heard My call and turned toward My horizon and acknowledged that which the Tongue of Eternity hath spoken. We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to aid thee and make thee steadfast in this Great Announcement. Thy portrait hath been presented before the Countenance and hath attained the honor of meeting. Give thanks unto God, thy Lord, for this manifest grace. The Glory be upon thee and upon those who have heard and responded to their Lord, the Mighty, the Great.

BH07907: O my handmaiden! Upon thee be My glory! Hearken…

He is the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful!

O my handmaiden! Upon thee be My glory! Hearken with thy soul’s ear to the Voice of the Wronged One. This is the Voice wherewith the Interlocutor attained on the Mount of Knowledge, and after hearkening unto which the Prophets cried out “Here am I, here am I!”, and the chosen ones proclaimed “Our souls be a sacrifice for Thy days!” O my leaf! In the path of the Friend thou hast been afflicted with tribulations and the taunts of enemies. In truth I say, tribulations in the path of love of the Beloved of the worlds are a supreme mercy and a mighty bounty, a bounty that neither passion can alter nor the passing of centuries and ages make old. It endureth as long as the divine names endure, and lasteth through the infinite divine attributes. We enjoin all who are related to thee to serve thee and seek thy good-pleasure. Blessed is he who hath heard the Call and acted in accordance with that which hath been commanded in the Book of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH07566: This Wronged One hath remembered and continueth to remember…

In the Name of Him Who is the Goal of all the worlds!

This Wronged One hath remembered and continueth to remember the loved ones of God in the midst of tribulations. The calumnies of the calumniators and the croaking of the ravens prevented Him not from proclaiming the Cause, nor held Him back from mentioning His friends. O leaf! We beseech God—glorified be His majesty—to assist the leaves of the Tree to achieve that which beseemeth His days. The whole world cannot be compared to a single word from the divine utterances. Give thanks unto thy Lord for this most great bounty and this supreme favor. When thou attainest unto the traces of My Pen, say:

My God, my God! Aid me to remain firm in Thy love and Thy good-pleasure with the greatest steadfastness, and grant me the water of everlasting life from the hand of Thy bounty. O my Lord! I am a leaf among Thy leaves and a handmaiden among Thy handmaidens. I have turned unto Thee, and I beseech Thee not to deprive me of the ocean of Thy generosity, the heaven of Thy munificence, and the sun of Thy grace. Verily Thou art the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

He is the Hearer, the Answerer

Praised be He Who hath revealed that which was hidden in knowledge and caused all things to speak forth that there is none other God but Him, the Single One, the All-Informed. Nothing whatsoever escapeth His knowledge. He doeth what He willeth and ordaineth what He pleaseth. He is the Mighty, the All-Praised. We have heard thy call and make mention of thee in this wondrous Tablet. When thou hast quaffed the choice wine of revelation from the hand of the mercy of thy Lord, say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having guided me unto the Dayspring of Thy Cause, and made known unto me Thy path, and shown me Thy signs, and taught me Thy Book. I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy might and dominion and by the mysteries of Thy Manifestation that Thou write down for me, with Thy Most Exalted Pen, the recompense of attaining Thy presence and standing before Thy face. O Lord! Thou seest the ocean of disobedience seeking the ocean of Thy knowledge. I beseech Thee by Thy bounty and generosity not to disappoint it. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever Thou pleasest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful.

BH07695: O God, O Generous One, O Merciful One! I…

In the Name of the one God!

O God, O Generous One, O Merciful One! I testify to Thy oneness and singleness, and that Thou hast neither peer nor likeness. Thy bounty brought the world of being into existence, and Thy generosity guided the peoples through Thy Most Great Name. Some, through the whisperings of the Evil One, were deprived of the ocean of Thy mercy, while others were illumined by the effulgences of the Sun of Truth. O Generous One, I beseech Thy ancient forgiveness and seek Thy all-encompassing mercy. Protect this servant from the doubts of those souls who have turned away and are barred from the ocean of Thy knowledge. My God, my God! Protect Thy servant, through Thy bounty and generosity, from the evil of Thine enemies who have broken Thy Covenant and Testament. O Lord! Withhold me not from Thy sealed wine, then aid me to remain steadfast in the Greater Steadfastness, lest the turbans of Thy servants prevent me from drawing nigh unto Thee. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and within Thy grasp is the dominion of all who are in the heavens and the earth.

BH07927: O thou who art immersed in the ocean…

In the Name of Him Who standeth before all faces!

O thou who art immersed in the ocean of utterance! Hearken unto the call of thy Lord, the All-Merciful. Verily, He draweth thee nigh unto the horizon whence hath shone forth the Sun of God’s grace, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. There hath befallen Us at the hands of the oppressors that which hath caused the dwellers of the Most Exalted Paradise to lament and the Faithful Spirit to cry out. The people have perpetrated that which hath rent asunder the vitals of existence and caused the tears of the sincere ones to flow. Be thou not grieved at this. Say:

My God, my God! Praise be to Thee for having enabled me to recognize the Dawning-Place of Thy Revelation and the Dayspring of Thy signs, and for having caused me to turn unto Thee when most of Thy servants turned away. I beseech Thee, by the appearance of divine knowledge and by the waves of the ocean of Thine utterance, to ordain that I may, in all conditions, be moved to celebrate Thy praise and arise to serve Thy Cause with the wisdom Thou hast sent down in Thy Book. O Lord! Withhold not Thy servants from the splendors of the Day-Star of Thy Manifestation, and disappoint them not of the outpourings of Thy days. Verily, Thou art the All-Powerful, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

BH08050: Verily My Most Exalted Pen desireth to make mention…

He is the All-Mentioning, the All-Knowing.

Verily My Most Exalted Pen desireth to make mention of one of the Afnan who hath chosen for himself a station beneath the shade of his Lord and hath attained to the presence and meeting, through the bounty of God, the Lord of all worlds. O Abu’l-Hasan! Give thanks unto God, thy Lord. Verily He hath aided thee to turn unto Him and guided thee to the Path wherefrom the feet of the heedless have slipped. We have mentioned thee aforetime in perspicuous verses and We make mention of thee at this time in this Clear Tablet. Say:

Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having made me to know Thee and mentioned me and guided me to Thy station and honored me with Thy presence. I beseech Thee to open before my face the gates of blessing and bounties and favors. Then preserve me, O my God, from the evil of Thine enemies who have disbelieved in Thee and Thy verses and denied Thy right. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Generous.

BH08526: O thou who journeyest through the lands to serve…

O thou who journeyest through the lands to serve thy Lord, the Possessor of all creation! Praise be to God, thou art confirmed and successful. Thou hast spent thy precious life in service. This testimony of the Most Exalted Pen concerning thee is better and more desirable than a hundred thousand treasures, for from this Word the fragrance of His eternal and everlasting favor is diffused. Rejoice and be of those who are thankful. Blessed art thou, and blessed is he who loveth thee, and blessed is he who hath hearkened unto thy words concerning this manifest News. Remember on behalf of the Wronged One Jinab-i-Faraj, upon whom rest My glory and My peace. We beseech God to assist him, to grant him success, and to make him one of those through whom God hath aided His Cause. Verily He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful. The glory from Us be upon you and upon those who love you and upon every hearing, seeing one.

BH08171: God, exalted be His glory, has counseled all…

In the name of the One Incomparable Speaker!

God, exalted be His glory, has counseled all to gaze with their own eyes toward the horizon of Revelation and hear with their own ears the divine call. Yet the servants have done that which caused the very essence of justice to weep and the liver of equity to melt. Instead of acknowledging, they denied Him, and in place of confession they rejected. The signs have encompassed the world and the evidences are more manifest than the sun—it is not known by what proof they believed in the Point of the Bayan and to what testimony they cling.

It behooveth Us at this point to mention what the All-Merciful hath revealed in the Qur’an: “Say: God; then leave them to their vain disputations.”

Blessed art thou for having turned and believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. We beseech God to confirm thee even as He confirmed thy father, and through you both to open the doors of hearts. Verily He is the Powerful, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing.

BH08172: Praise be to God Who hath illumined the world…

He is the One Warbling upon the Branches

Praise be to God Who hath illumined the world of the kingdom and of the realm above with His brilliant and resplendent light, and from the chalice of bounty hath bestowed a sufficient portion upon the dwellers of earth and heaven. Blessed is the soul that hath detached itself from the world and all that dwell therein, and hath turned toward the Most Exalted Horizon. He is the Guide of the Way and the Master of the Proof. He doeth whatsoever He willeth and ordaineth whatsoever He pleaseth. He is the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.

O ʿAziz Big! Thy letter of love was sent unto the Most Holy and Exalted Court, and this Most Wondrous and Most Exalted Tablet hath been revealed in reply. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou the Goal of the world! And glory be unto Thee, O Thou the Beloved of the hearts of them that are nigh unto Thee! At this moment the ocean of forgiveness hath surged before the faces of all religions and hath encompassed thy father and mother, as a grace from God, the True One, the Manifest. Praise be to God, the Lord of the mighty throne!

BH08025: Today the proof crieth out, and the evidence proclaimeth…

He is the One Who gazeth from His Most Exalted Horizon.

Today the proof crieth out, and the evidence proclaimeth “the All-Merciful hath come,” and reason pointeth the way. Yet no one with sight can be found, nor any with hearing discovered. Praise be to the Object of all desire, Who aided thee to recognize the Most Great Name in days when the divines and mystics of Persia rose up in opposition and issued decrees for the shedding of the blood of the sincere ones and those drawn nigh. O My handmaiden, upon thee be My glory! Thy name hath been mentioned and thou hast been rendered victorious through this Tablet. Give thanks unto thy Lord and say: “Praise be unto Thee, O Desired One of the world, and glory be unto Thee, O Worshipped One of the nations! I beseech Thee to ordain for me the reward of every handmaiden who hath circled round Thee, hearkened unto Thy call, and attained unto Thy presence. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, the Generous. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.”

BH08384: Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I…

He is God, blessed and exalted!

Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I bear witness to Thy power and Thy majesty and Thy sovereignty, and that Thou art God and there is none other God but Thee. From everlasting Thou hast been sanctified beyond the comprehension and understanding of all beings, and the birds of the hearts of them that are nigh unto Thee and of the sincere ones have never soared into the atmosphere of Thy knowledge. Thou shalt ever be as Thou hast been from time immemorial. There is none other God but Thee, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thyself and by Thy Prophets and Thy Messengers through whom Thy commandments and Thy laws were manifested, and by Him through Whom Thou didst raise the standard of unity among Thy servants and the banner of remembrance and praise amidst Thy creation, to aid me in that which Thou lovest and art pleased with. Verily Thou art the Lord of all mankind and the Ruler of the kingdoms of earth and heaven. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Merciful, the All-Bountiful.

BH08227: Glorified be He Who hath sent down the verses…

He is the Mighty, the Powerful, the Bestower!

Glorified be He Who hath sent down the verses and manifested the clear proofs. He is the Truth, there is no God but Him. He giveth life and causeth death, He taketh and giveth, and He is the Mighty, the Powerful. O Qurban-Ali! Hear the call from this Lofty Tree raised up in the luminous spot: Verily, there is no God but Him, the Commander, the All-Wise. He hath created creation for His knowledge and ordained for them that which draweth them nigh unto Him. He is verily the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous. When thou hearest the call from the Prison of Akka, say:

“My God, my God! Praise be unto Thee for having caused me to recognize the Dawning-Place of Thy verses and the Dayspring of Thy clear proofs, and for having guided me unto Him Whose advent Thou didst herald in Thy Books, Thy Scriptures and Thy Tablets. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by the pearls of wisdom and utterance which Thou hast caused to appear from the treasuries of the Supreme Pen, to ordain for me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, the Compassionate, the Forgiving, the Merciful.”

BH08621: O Yusif! There hath befallen the Wronged One…

He is the Speaker and He is the Hearer.

O Yusif! There hath befallen the Wronged One that which no eye in the world hath ever seen. He brought forth proofs, yet they rejected them. He manifested clear evidence, yet they denied it. And when the fire of hatred and malice was kindled in their hearts and souls, His friends delivered Him to His enemies. He who We desired his life rose up against the Wronged One, and when he failed, he cried out and proclaimed his own oppression. We beseech God to adorn His servants with the ornament of justice and fairness, that they may see with their own eyes and hear with their own ears. He, verily, is the Helper, the All-Bountiful. The splendor from Us be upon thee and upon those whom nothing whatsoever, nor the oppression of the wicked ones, could deter—they turned unto God and said: “We believe in God, the Lord of this wondrous Day.”

BH08246: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I bear witness…

He is the One Who standeth before all faces!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I bear witness to that whereunto the Tongue of Thy grandeur hath testified before the appearance of Thy creation, that Thou art God, no God is there but Thee. Thou hast ever been One, Single, Alone, Self-Subsisting. Thou hast taken unto Thyself neither peer nor partner nor helper, and Thou wilt ever be as Thou hast been from all eternity. There is no God but Thee, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted.

O Lord! Aid Thy loved ones and Thy branches in that which beseemeth them in Thy days, then write down for them the reward of those who have circled round Thy Will and quaffed the choice wine of revelation from the hand of Thy bounty.

O Lord! Thou seest how the wolves have seized Thy sheep, through whom the rain of Thy mercy hath poured forth from the clouds of Thy generosity. I beseech Thee to assist Thy party through the hosts of the seen and the unseen. Verily Thou art God, the Almighty, the All-Compelling, the Mighty, the Unconstrained.

BH08259: Glorified art Thou, O my God! O Thou…

In the Name of our Lord, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

Glorified art Thou, O my God! O Thou in Whose grasp is the dominion of all names and by Whose will all things are moved! I beseech Thee by Thy Word through which Thou didst quicken Thy servants and illumine Thy lands, and by which the gate of utterance was opened unto all who are in the realm of creation, to ordain for Thy loved ones that which will draw them unto Thee and preserve them from all else besides Thee—those who consumed the bounty and denied it, who attained unto the heavenly table and rejected it. O Lord! Thou seest how the wayward have encompassed Thy chosen ones from among Thy pure ones and have risen against them with an oppression at which the dwellers of Thy kingdom and Thy dominion have lamented. I beseech Thee by the Daysprings of Thy verses and the Sources of Thy commandments and laws to make the deeds of those who have turned unto Thee adorned with the ornament of Thy acceptance, and ordain for them the good of this world and the world to come through Thy will and purpose. Verily Thou art God, there is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH08521: O My leaves and My handmaidens! Today the divine…

In the Name of the One Utterance

O My leaves and My handmaidens! Today the divine breeze is passing by and the Spirit of God is in motion and manifestation. All things, with utmost joy and excitement, are delighted by the appearance of Him Who conversed on Sinai. A mighty celebration is established. Blessed are the leaves who have clung to the Sacred Tree and who move by Its movement. Glory be to God! The fragrances of revelation of the Lord of Names and Attributes have perfumed the worlds of the unseen and the visible, yet most remain heedless and veiled. Blessed art thou for having attained unto My days, and for having heard My Revelation and My establishment upon the throne of My utterance. We beseech God to preserve thee from the harm of every heedless one and the oppression of every oppressor. O my Lord! Thou seest me turning toward Thee and hoping for the wonders of Thy grace and favor. I beseech Thee not to disappoint Thy handmaiden from that which is with Thee and from that which Thou hast ordained for those who have believed in Thee and Thy verses and who have circled round the throne of Thy grandeur. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.

BH09112: In My Name through which the light of utterance…

In My Name through which the light of utterance hath shone forth from the horizon of existence

O thou who gazest upon the Countenance and art mentioned before the Throne! Today the tongue of proof in the Kingdom of utterance speaketh this most blessed and exalted word:

“O God! I beseech Thee by Thy Splendor at its most splendid, and all Thy Splendor is indeed splendid. This is the Most Great Name of God concerning which God’s Proof and Evidence gave tidings. By My life! No mention nor utterance hath appeared more explicit than this. Blessed are the fair-minded. This is the Name at which the limbs of the ungodly trembled and the hearts of them that are nigh unto God found peace. Draw nigh and say: The dominion and the kingdom are within the grasp of God’s power, the Lord of all worlds, Whom neither the ranks nor the mightiest armies of the world can withstand. He doeth what He willeth and ordaineth what He pleaseth, and He is the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.”

BH08655: Today the attraction of the deeds of the lovers…

He is the All-Commanding, the All-Wise.

Today the attraction of the deeds of the lovers hath seized all regions, and all things speak in praise and remembrance of them who are detached. In the City of Love there are melodies and voices. Blessed is he who hath attained unto hearing and hath been illumined with the light of piety and detachment.

The Most Great Glad-Tidings which hath been revealed and sent down from the Most Exalted Pen is that “but He is the Apostle of God and the Seal of the Prophets” hath been fulfilled by the blessed words “the Day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds.”

O friends of God and His party! Let not the might of the oppressors nor the tyranny of the aggressors grieve you. Soon shall pass away all that is seen and witnessed, and there shall remain for you what hath been revealed from the Most Exalted Pen in Haifa. Blessed are ye and blessed is he who loveth you for the sake of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.

BH09077: O Ustad Isma’il! Rejoice that the Pen of thy…

He is established upon the throne of utterance

O Ustad Isma’il! Rejoice that the Pen of thy Lord’s will, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, hath moved to make mention of thee. Verily He remembereth him who remembereth Him and aideth him in a manner befitting this Revelation from which the lights have shone forth. We have sent down the Book as a mercy from Our presence and a bounty from Our side, and verily We are the Powerful, the Chosen One. We make mention of thy son who was named ʿAbdu’s-Samad in the Book of God, the Lord of lords. We make mention at this time of Ar-Rahim in such wise as will draw him nigh unto God, the Lord of the Day of Return. Blessed are ye for having turned to the Dawning-Place of grace and for having attained unto the days wherewith We gave the glad-tidings in the Scriptures and Tablets. The glory from Our presence be upon you and upon those whom the might of the wicked ones hath not prevented from drawing nigh unto God, the Lord of all men.

BH09139: O ʿAli! Upon thee be My glory and My…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Bestower of gifts and favors!

O ʿAli! Upon thee be My glory and My loving-kindness! Praise be to God, His loving-kindness hath encompassed thee, His mercy hath preceded thee, and His grace hath been vouchsafed unto thy honor. We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to open before thy face the gate of His bounty and generosity. We thank Him for His new gift and His wondrous favor. When We heard of his arrival and news, We named him Hasan in the Book of Names. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to make his footsteps blessed upon thee and upon My handmaiden and leaf, and to open unto thee and unto her the gate of wealth. Verily, He is the Lord of bounty, grace and generosity, and within His grasp is the reins of glory and eternity. There is no God but Him, the Lord of names and attributes, the Manifestor of clear proofs and the Revealer of verses.

BH08654: Today the utterance is speaking, and the stations…

He is God, exalted be His station.

Today the utterance is speaking, and the stations of the lovers are, in God’s sight, above the stations of all the people of the visible world. Attraction and fervor have appeared from the lovers in the City of Detachment. Glory be to God! the ungodly cling to oppression, knowing and believing it to be the means of extinguishing the Light. Yet they are heedless of the fact that the Hand of Divine Power will transform it into oil and thereby increase the brightness of the Lamp. Glorified be the Generous One, the Possessor of Great Resolve, Who does what He pleases through His firm and mighty Command. O ʿAli-Qabli-Muhammad! My Branch has mentioned you before My face. We have remembered you in this clear Book. We beseech God to assist you in all conditions to serve the Cause and to serve the Branches. He is the Hearer, the Answerer, and He is the Powerful, the Mighty.

This day is the day of joy and gladness. All things proclaim “The Promised One is come!” Blessed is the soul whom the promptings of self have not kept back from the Lord of Names. O ʿAli! Upon thee be My glory and loving-kindness. Praise be to God, thou hast attained unto that which hath no likeness or equal. Thou hast drunk from the hand of the bounty of My Name, the Self-Subsisting, the sealed wine, and hast achieved that which was inscribed by the Most Exalted Pen in the Books of the Prophets and Messengers. Convey My greetings to the loved ones. Say: Beware lest ye take for yourselves any helper other than Him. We beseech God to preserve you and to rain down upon you from the clouds of His mercy the rains of His bounty and loving-kindness. Verily He is the Compassionate, the Generous. There is no God but Him, the Almighty, the Powerful, the Great.

BH08636: My Afnan—upon him be My glory! He…

He is the One Who rules over all who are in the heavens and on earth.

My Afnan—upon him be My glory! He has attained unto Our presence and been illumined by hearing the verses. From the earliest days, he and his family have, for the sake of God, drunk from the cup of tribulation. Verily, We love him and beseech God to assist him with the hosts of the unseen and the visible world. He, verily, is the Almighty, the All-Wise. O Karim! Upon thee be My glory! We beseech God to aid thee in that which will cause thy remembrance to endure in the world among the peoples. Verily, He is the Hearer, the Answerer. And We beseech Him to unite the hearts of His loved ones and strengthen them through the handle of love and unity. He, verily, is the Strong, the Triumphant, the Almighty. Glory be upon thee and upon thy son and upon those with thee and upon the loved ones of God who are there, who have not violated My perspicuous Covenant and My firm Testament.

He is the Hearer and the Answerer!

Day by day victory and triumph advance. We hope that through the hosts of wisdom and utterance His loved ones may conquer hearts and minds. O people of unity! This Wronged One has, from the earliest days until now, openly and without any veil or concealment, summoned all peoples according to the Book’s decree. Some have accepted while others have arisen in rejection. Blessed art thou for having cast away vain imaginings, turning to God’s Most Great Announcement. We beseech God, exalted be He, to assist His loved ones to love and unity, and to unite their hearts through His grace and mercy. Verily He is the Mighty, the Generous. The glory be upon thee and upon those who have heard and said:

“Here am I, O God of all in the heavens and earths!”

BH09157: O Muhammad! Convey unto ʿAli the everlasting greetings…

He is God, the One, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

O Muhammad! Convey unto ʿAli the everlasting greetings of God. Hadrat Rida—upon him be My salutations—hath remembered thee, and hath made mention of the degrees of longing and yearning, of attraction and burning, which were recounted by the lights of the Blessed Lote-Tree.

We beseech God to preserve thee through His bounty and to guard thee by His hosts. We, verily, bear witness to thine acceptance in the first days, to thine affirmation of the oneness of God and His greatness, and to thine acknowledgment of His power and His sovereignty. Blessed art thou, and joyful the tidings unto thee, in that thou hast drunk the choice wine of utterance from the cup of the bestowals of thy Lord, the All-Merciful. We ask Him to confirm thee and to grant thee success in whatsoever will draw thee nigh unto Him, in all conditions. Verily He is the Mighty, the Most Bountiful.

Peace and glory be upon thee, and upon those with thee, and upon whoso loveth thee for the sake of God, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

BH08990: A Book sent down by the Wronged One…

He is the Compassionate, the Manifest, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

A Book sent down by the Wronged One to one of His maidservants and a leaf among His leaves, that the breezes of revelation might attract her and draw her nigh unto God, the Lord of all worlds. O My handmaiden! Hearken unto My call, then give thanks to thy Lord, the Forgiving, the Merciful. He hath aided thee to turn towards Him and hath sent down for thee that whereby thy mention shall be immortalized in His mighty and wondrous Book. Say:

Glory be unto Thee, O my God and my Beloved! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Bounty, and by Thy Most Great Name, the Most Glorious, and by the power of Thy Most Exalted Word, to ordain for this handmaiden of Thine the good of this world and of the world to come. O my Lord! Thou seest how Thy handmaiden hath turned unto Thee and clung to the cord of Thy grace. I beseech Thee not to disappoint her from the ocean of Thy bounty and the heaven of Thy generosity. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.

He is God, exalted be He in greatness and power!

Blessed art thou, O Leaf, in that thou hast sought out the Divine Lote-Tree and won to its presence and dwelt in its vicinity and beneath its shade and heard its rustling. We beseech God, blessed and exalted be He, to aid thee and ordain for thee the good of both this world and the next. Verily He is the Protector of all names, and He is the Single, the One, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

O my Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy power which hath subdued all created things, and by Thy mercy which hath preceded all contingent beings, to assist Thy leaves and handmaidens to remember and praise Thee. I testify, O my God, to Thy oneness and Thy singleness, and to Thy Books and Scriptures and Tablets. I beseech Thee not to disappoint me of the wonders of Thy grace. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful, and worthy to answer prayer.

BH08652: My God, my God, my Lord and my Support!…

He is the Compassionate, the All-Bountiful!

My God, my God, my Lord and my Support! Thou seest one of Thy handmaidens who hath turned toward the horizon of Thy Revelation, after most of the men of Thy earth turned away. I beseech Thee by the Treasure which Thou hast manifested through Thy power, and by the Horizon which Thou hast illumined with the light of Thy grace and bounty, and by the Sun that hath shone forth from the heaven of Thy wisdom, to aid her to remain steadfast in Thy love. Verily, Thou art the All-Bountiful, to Whose bounty all created things have testified, and to Whose mercy all contingent beings bear witness. O Lord! Ordain for her from the Pen of Destiny what Thou hast ordained for the leaves of the Tree of Thy Utterance, then write down for her what Thou hast written for Thy leaves who circle round Thy good-pleasure and hold fast to the cord of Thy bounty. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth, and in Thy grasp are the reins of all women and men. And verily, Thou art the Almighty, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.

In the Name of our Lord, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

Glorified art Thou, O God of existence and Lord of the seen and unseen! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Prison, and by what Thou didst suffer at the hands of the deniers who rejected Thee and Thy signs and the manifestations of Thy grandeur and power, and by Thy clear proofs which have encompassed Thy dominion, and by the lights of Thy countenance which have illumined the horizons of the hearts of Thy loved ones, to assist him who hath turned toward the heaven of Thy grace, clinging to the cord of Thy bounty. O my Lord! Thou seest him assured of Thy oneness and singleness, and acknowledging that which Thou hast revealed in Thy Book. I beseech Thee to illumine his deeds with the light of acceptance and to make him one of those who have attained to Thy service in Thy days, and ordain for him the good of this world and of the world to come. Verily, Thou art the Lord of all men, the Lord of the throne on high and of the dust below. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH09102: O friends of God! That which you sent has…

He is the Ruler, the Commander, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise

O friends of God! That which you sent has attained unto My presence and hearing. We beseech God to send down upon you a blessing from the heaven of His bounty and a table from the atmosphere of His grace. He is verily the All-Bountiful, the Lord of great favor. We indeed perceived from your letter the fragrance of love and unity. We beseech God to assist you in that which He loves and is pleased with, and to aid you in that which will cause your names to be exalted among His servants, through His Name, the Protector of all who are in the heavens and on earth. We have answered what you asked Us regarding the name. We have named it “Spiritual Company” and We beseech Him, exalted be He, to manifest through you that which will spread His traces throughout the lands and His signs among the servants. Verily He is the Powerful over what He wills, and He is the Compassionate, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Peace be upon you from Us, and upon the sincere servants of God, the near ones, the knowing ones. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

In the Name of our Lord, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

Glorified art Thou, O God of existence, and glorified art Thou, O Beloved! Bewilderment hath seized me in Thy days. I testify that the Fire hath been kindled and appeared in the Sacred Trees of the Paradise of Thy presence, and that the Celestial Stream hath flowed from the tongue of Thy grandeur. Yet despite this supreme bounty and this most great mercy, I observe that most of Thy servants are deprived thereof and forbidden from it, inasmuch as they have clung to the dictates of self and passion. O Lord! Thou beholdest in such days as these the burning ardor of them that love Thee in Thy path, and the radiance of their hearts in their love for Thee. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the worlds, to ordain for whomsoever hath succeeded in carrying out Thy laws in Thy days that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones and Thy trusted ones. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted, in the beginning and in the end.

He is the Helper!

We give thanks to God, the Lord of the Most Exalted Horizon, of the Throne and earth, for having united the hearts of His loved ones who, on this blessed and wondrous Day, have quaffed the choice wine of bounty from the hands of grace. An Afnan, upon him be My glory, came into Our presence and mentioned thee. We make mention of thee in this glorious and luminous Tablet. We beseech God to protect thee and His loved ones, and to unite hearts with a unity that shall neither be affected by separation nor altered by the doubts of the suspicious ones. The Glory from the Wronged One be upon thee and upon God’s sincere servants. We make mention of thy son and thy family with a remembrance through which the realm of possibility is illumined. We beseech God to draw them nigh unto Him and to adorn them with the ornament of joy after sorrow. Verily, He is the All-Bountiful, the Generous.

BH09678: O Ali, upon thee be My glory! Hearken unto…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Beneficent, the Bestowing

O Ali, upon thee be My glory! Hearken unto My call from the direction of My prison. Verily it beareth unto thee glad-tidings of that which hath been ordained for thee from God, the Kind, the Generous. Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy Kingdom and Thy Dominion, and by Thy chosen ones and Thy Prophets, to assist me to perform that which Thou hast commanded me in Thy Book and that which will cause the fragrances of Thy good-pleasure to be diffused. Then ordain for my brother who is named Ali the best of the hereafter and of the former life. O my Lord! I beseech Thee by the light of Thy utterance and the manifestations of the Tree of Thy Revelation on the Mount of Thy knowledge, to open before our faces the doors of Thy bounty and generosity. Verily Thou art the Powerful, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. That which thou didst send hath been received and hath attained acceptance.

BH09607: O Ism-i-Jud! Upon thee be the peace of God…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful

O Ism-i-Jud! Upon thee be the peace of God, the King, the Mighty, the Loving. For some time no news has been received from the Afnan, upon him be the peace of God and His mercy and His grace. You should certainly inquire in each instance about his circumstances. Although through divine bounty and infinite mercy he is safe and protected, yet to inquire and seek information is beloved. Verily We love him and We love his traces. We beseech God to assist him and strengthen him and ordain for him that which will bring joy to all eyes. In the letters that were sent there was no mention of him, nor any mention of the son, upon him be My peace. In any case, negligence in seeking news is not permissible. Peace be upon them from the One Who heareth and answereth.

BH09671: O dear one! Upon thee be My glory…

O dear one! Upon thee be My glory and My salutation! Trees are of two kinds: those that bear fruit and those that are barren. The fruit-bearing tree is transformed into light and shineth forth from the horizon of posterity. The barren one hath ever been and will continue to be fit for the fire. Praise be to God that thou hast attained and hast been illumined with the lights of the Word of Divine Unity. The children of the Friend and the heirs of Him Who conversed with God are mentioned in the presence of the Wronged One. Time and again have they been remembered by both the Pen and the Tongue. We beseech God to aid them all to achieve that which is conducive to the reformation of the world and the tranquility of souls. We beseech God to aid thee, make thee successful, protect thee and assist thee with wisdom and utterance. Verily, He is the Mighty, the Helper.

BH09695: O Muhammad-Qabli-ʿAli! Upon thee be the everlasting peace…

He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise

O Muhammad-Qabli-ʿAli! Upon thee be the everlasting peace of God. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having given me to drink, from the hand of Thy bounty, the Kawthar of Thy utterance, and for having confirmed me in acknowledging that which Thou hast revealed in the Books of the Prophets and Messengers, and for having inspired me with the Word of Unity, whereby the limbs of the ungodly have trembled. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the Kingdom of Names, to aid me to serve Thee and to serve Thy loved ones. Verily Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth, by Thy Name, the All-Subduing over those who are in the heavens and on the earth.

All travelers are remembered in the presence of the Wronged One. We beseech God to make you guides unto His creation and servants of His Cause, the Mighty, the Inaccessible.

BH09696: O Muhammad-ʿAli! Although sorrows have encompassed Us from every…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Pardoning, the Bestowing

O Muhammad-ʿAli! Although sorrows have encompassed Us from every direction and the cawing of the ravens has been raised, yet the Wronged One, with complete steadfastness, continues to utter the blessed words “I have placed my trust in God and have committed all affairs unto Him.” Be not grieved at anything. Verily God is with us, and we beseech Him to ordain for us all the good that He hath sent down in His Book. The oppression of Iran hath caused the people of justice and fairness to despair. We beseech God to protect His sheep from the wolves of the earth. Verily He is the Powerful, the Strong, the Preserver, the Compassionate, the Generous. Praise be to God that thou hast attained to His service and art illumined with the light of His divine love. Preserve this sacred, mighty and wondrous station.

BH09615: O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory…

He is the One Who speaketh the truth and commandeth justice!

O My Afnan! Upon thee be My glory from the Kingdom and the Realm of Might, and the glory of those who dwell in the heavens and earth. We have remembered thee before, and have revealed for thee that which hath transported the hearts of the holy ones in the Most Exalted Paradise and the realities of the pure ones in the Supreme Paradise. Blessed art thou and blessed is he who hath loved thee in the path of God, the Lord of the Mighty Throne. Grieve not because of the people and their clamor. God shall soon erase their traces and elevate your station. Verily, He is the True One, the Trusted One. The Light that shineth resplendent from the horizon of the Tablet of God be upon thee and upon those whom the ranks of the oppressors have not frightened, nor the hosts of the heedless. Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH09670: O servant of Baha! Upon thee be the peace…

O servant of Baha! Upon thee be the peace of God and His loving-kindness. Thou hast ever been and art remembered. Outwardly thou art absent but inwardly present. We beseech God to make thy remembrance enduring among remembrances and thy name among names. Honor and nobility lie in steadfastness. In these days there hath befallen this Wronged One that which hath caused the Tablet and the Pen to weep. The fire of abasement hath assailed the glory of the Cause of God. That unjust one hath committed in the great city that which no heedless one hath ever committed. He united with the enemy of God and became known for treachery and lack of chastity. We beseech God to cause him to return unto Him. Verily He is the Almighty, the Powerful.

O my leaf, upon thee be My glory! Thy mention hath been made amongst the holy countenances of the Most Exalted Paradise. Thou must, throughout all days and nights, praise the Goal of all worlds, Who hath aided thee in days when those possessed of sciences and arts are veiled from Him. Throughout ages and centuries they spoke of His appearance, yet when the horizon of the world was illumined with His light, all turned away save whom God wished. Blessed art thou and blessed is he who guided thee to the straight path of God and caused thee to recognize the Dawning-Place of His Revelation and the Rising-Point of His verses. We beseech God to assist him and thee in supreme steadfastness in this Most Great Announcement. Praise be to God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

The fruit was from the tree, but now it is witnessed from the Word. The light was from the sun, but now it is mentioned in the verse. Glory be to God! The utterance causes the mountain to crumble. Change and transformation have overtaken the world.

In My Name, the Speaker before the faces of the parties

O My Name! Upon thee be My glory and My loving-kindness. O thou who speakest My mention amongst My servants, O thou who hast dawned from the horizon of the heaven of My grace! By My life, I have been saddened by that which hath appeared from My loved ones whom We raised up through My remembrance amongst My creation, and to whom We made known My path, and whom We guided unto My announcement, and for whom We sent down that which diffused the fragrance of My mercy that hath preceded all who are in the heavens and the earth. His Holiness, My Branch, hath presented thy letter. We have answered thee through this perspicuous Tablet. Say:

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Glorious Name, whereby the limbs of all names have trembled, and glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by those who have quaffed the wine of supreme steadfastness before the faces of all peoples, to assist me in all conditions to help Thy Cause and exalt Thy Word and to manifest that which Thou hast commanded me in Thy Tablets with wisdom and utterance. Verily, Thou art the Potent over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting.

BH09633: O handmaiden of God! We have heard thy call…

In the Name of Him Who overshadoweth all names.

O handmaiden of God! We have heard thy call, and in this hour when the sorrows of the world have turned toward this Wronged One, We make mention of thee. We have counseled and continue to counsel all to be characterized by religiosity, trustworthiness, chastity and fidelity. Those who speak and acknowledge the word of unity must purify and sanctify their hearts from corruption, conflict, rancor and hatred, that they may be adorned with the imprint of the seal “The Kingdom is God’s.” If they hold fast to goodly deeds and praiseworthy conduct, divine favor will encompass them, for every tongue hath testified to His generosity and every ear hath witnessed His bounty. Verily He is the Forgiver of sins, and He is the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Loving.

BH09847: Glory be to Thee, O my God! I beseech…

He is the Manifest, the Speaking One, the All-Knowing

Glory be to Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by the light of Thy splendor which hath encompassed Thy Kingdom and Thy dominion, and by which the hearts of Thy sincere servants among Thy creatures have been attracted, to ordain for Thy Afnan and one of Thy leaves the reward of every leaf that hath held fast to the Tree of Thy utterance and been illumined by the light of Thy knowledge, and whom the oppression of Thine enemies who violated Thy Covenant and Testament did not deter. I beseech Thee, O Lord, by Thy Most Great Name through which were consumed the hearts of those who denied Thy proof and Thy testimony and disbelieved in Thy Manifestation and Thy signs, to ordain for Thy leaves that which will draw them nigh unto Thee. Verily, Thou art powerful over what Thou willest. Thou doest what Thou pleasest through Thy Name, the Mighty, the All-Praised.

BH10121: O leaf! Praise be to the Desired One…

He is the One Who calleth amongst His servants.

O leaf! Praise be to the Desired One of the world Who assisted thee through the means of heaven and earth and guided thee to the Dawning-place of verses. Thou didst arrive and hear and see. We beseech God to grant that which is the cause of the Most Great Steadfastness. Be thou not saddened by the events of the world. Verily, He is with thee under all conditions. Convey My greetings to the leaves and handmaidens on behalf of the Wronged One and illumine them with the lights of the Sun of Truth. Verily, He is the Helper of His branches and leaves, and He is the Ordainer, the All-Wise.

BH10087: O ʿAbbas! Your letter has attained unto the honor…

In the Name of Him Who is the Guardian over all names!

O ʿAbbas! Your letter has attained unto the honor of being seen and your call unto that of being heard. Praise be to God that He confirmed and guided thee. Verily, He is the All-Bountiful, the Generous, the Mighty, the Forgiving, the Merciful.

O thou who hast fixed thy gaze upon the Countenance! Say: My God, my God! Praise be to Thee for having guided me and caused me to hear and remember Thee in Thy Most Great Prison. I beseech Thee, O Lord of the worlds, by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued the realms of hearts and souls, to make me steadfast in Thy love and firm in Thy Cause. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest through Thy word “Be” and it is.

BH09859: Glorified art Thou, O my God, O Thou at…

In the name of our Lord, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

Glorified art Thou, O my God, O Thou at whose name the ocean of divine knowledge surged throughout creation and the nightingale of proof warbled upon the branches with that which the tongue of Thy grandeur had spoken before the creation of Thy earth and heaven. I beseech Thee by the Sun of Thy Cause and the heaven of Thy grace, and by Thy loved ones who have circled round Thee and sacrificed their spirits in Thy days, to aid Thy loved ones with patience from Thee and steadfastness from Thy presence. Thou art verily the All-Powerful, the Almighty. O Lord! Ordain for those who have desired Thee and turned to Thee in Thy days every good thing that was in Thy Book. Verily Thou art God, there is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH09962: In the Name of Him through Whom the ocean…

In the Name of Him through Whom the ocean of utterance surgeth and the fragrances of the All-Merciful wafteth!

Say: Glory be unto Thee, O Lord, O Master of all beings! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great, Most Glorious Name. And glory be unto Thee, O Lord, O Sovereign of the Kingdom of Names! I beseech Thee by the radiant, gleaming, resplendent Light that shineth from the horizon of the heaven of Thy Name, the All-Subduing Lord of Names, to ordain for me through Thy Most Exalted Pen the good of the world to come and of this world. O my Lord! Thou seest me detached from all save Thee and clinging to the cord of Thy grace. I beseech Thee not to deprive me of the ocean of Thy bounty, nor from the sun of Thy grace, nor from the heaven of Thy generosity which hath encompassed the heavens and the earth. There is no God but Thee, the Powerful, the Forgiving, the Generous.

BH10029: The mystery of the world hath become manifest…

In the Name of the Self-Sufficing Lord!

The mystery of the world hath become manifest, and the secrets of the Book are evident without any veil or concealment. The Path of God with its proof is clear and hath been sent down from the Truth. We beseech Him to raise up those possessed of acute hearing and keen sight who may, through witnessing, observing and hearkening, attain, and may enlighten the people on behalf of God, glorified be His majesty, so that all may gain access to the ocean of utterance and remain not deprived of the horizon of manifestation. Thy call was heard, and the response hath been sent down from the Source of Command in the Most Exalted Horizon:

“Drink thou the Kawthar of divine knowledge from the chalice of utterance in the name of thy Lord, the Commander, the Ancient of Days.”

Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH10126: This is the Day of God, and the Speaker…

He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing!

This is the Day of God, and the Speaker of the Bayan hath mounted the pulpit of glory in the City of Love, crying aloud: O people of God! The Day is come, yet the people are in grievous stupor. Soon shall the might of the oppressors and the calumnies of the infidels be erased by God’s prevailing Will, and there shall remain for you that which hath been ordained by the Supreme Pen in this exalted station. Praise be to God that thou hast at all times been blessed with remembrance of the Lord. Well is it with thee and with them that have held fast to the cord of godliness on this blessed, mighty and wondrous Day.

BH10498: O My leaf! I bear witness that thou didst…

He is the Witness, the All-Informed.

O My leaf! I bear witness that thou didst leave thy homeland out of love for God, the Possessor of the Hidden and the Manifest, and didst turn toward the Dawning-Place of verses and the Rising-Point of clear proofs, and didst attain unto the presence of the Kaaba of God, the Lord of all the worlds. Praise be to God Who bestowed His grace and granted His confirmation, such that thou didst turn toward and enter into a place that hath been the point of circumambulation of the Concourse on High. We beseech God to assist her in His remembrance and praise, and to ordain for her that which He hath ordained for the denizens of the highest Paradise. Verily, He is the Munificent, the Generous. The glory from Us be upon thee and upon her and upon My handmaiden who hath been named Ata’iyyih and upon every handmaiden who hath believed in God, the One, the All-Informed.

We beseech God, the Lord of all worlds, to aid thee through His sovereignty and to guard thee with His hosts, and to ordain for thee every good thing that He hath sent down in His Book, and to enable thee to act in accordance with that which thou hast been commanded by His firm and mighty wisdom. The Branch hath appeared before Our face and asked for thy presence. We have answered him with this perspicuous Book and decreed what he desired through the bounty of the Wronged One. Verily, He is the Hearer, the Answerer. Praise be unto Him, for He is the Lord of the world and the Object of desire of all who are in the heavens and on earth.

I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which the hearts of the nations were attracted, to open before my face, through the key of Thy Name, the Self-Subsisting, the gates of Thy mercy and Thy blessing and Thy bounty. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and within Thy grasp are the reins of all who are in the heavens and on earth. And We make mention of My handmaiden Fatimih and remind her of My verses and give her the glad-tidings of My loving-kindness. I am, verily, the All-Powerful, the Almighty. The glory from Our presence be upon thee and upon her and upon My handmaiden Ridvaniyyih and upon those women who have heard the call and turned unto God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

He is the All-Bountiful, possessed of great favor.

O Rahim! Your letter reached the presence in the Most Great Prison. This Wronged One counsels the friends and enjoins upon them goodly deeds and praiseworthy character which attract hearts and minds. Blessed is the one who hath held fast unto the divine virtues and is detached and free from all else. Praise be to God, from thy words waft the fragrances of the love of the Beloved of the worlds. Put away what the people possess of wickedness and evil, holding fast unto righteousness and the fear of God. Thus hath the Tongue spoken in the kingdom of utterance, as a command from the presence of the Wise Commander.

O Lord my God, my King! Praise and thanksgiving beseem Thee, for Thou didst create mankind from a handful of clay and didst bestow upon them the gem of insight and knowledge. O Generous One! We beseech of Thee that which leadeth to eternal life and everlasting existence. Deprive us not, we pray Thee. Being exists through Thy bounty—withhold not from it the adorning grace of Thy favor, and illumine all with the effulgent rays of the Day-Star of Thy unity. Thine is the command at the beginning and the end, and Thine is the decree, O Lord of creation and Master of all servants.

We have come and sent down that from which the fragrance of remembrance and utterance has been wafted from the presence of the All-Merciful. Blessed is he who has found! By My life, none shall find save he who has cast away all that is with the Shi’ites except the Two Remembrances and what was sent down in the Book of God which was called the Furqan, whereby truth was distinguished from falsehood, whereby the light shone forth from the horizon of manifestation, whereby all created things were gladdened and all beings rejoiced. Command and wisdom and might and power belong to God, the Sender of verses and the Lord of names and attributes.

Praise be to God, thou hast attained unto that which hath been the cause of joy to the Concourse on High and the Most Exalted Paradise. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having enabled me to perform a deed from which the fragrance of Thy good-pleasure hath been wafted. I beseech Thee, O Thou Who dispelleth sorrows, by Thy Name which is sanctified above all creation, to ordain for me and for Thy loved ones that which shall gladden hearts. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Glorious, the Best-Beloved.

Verily, He is powerful over all things. Peace be upon thee and upon those who are with thee and upon those who love thee and serve thee for the sake of God, the Lord of the worlds.

He is the Almighty, the All-Powerful. Peace be upon thee from Us, and upon thy family, and upon those who have drunk the choice wine of the Bayan in My days, the gift of their Lord, the Compassionate, the Generous.

The splendor from Us be upon you and upon her and upon My other handmaiden who was named Bahiyyih in this clear Tablet.

O Khalil! Thou hast attained unto the pure wine of revelation and drunk from the Kawthar of immortality from the hand of bounty. Thou hast been mentioned time and again. We counsel thee and those who have believed to serve the Cause of God, your Lord and the Lord of the Throne and earth, and the Master of the hereafter and this world. Verily, He is the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous. He commandeth His servants to do that which draweth them nigh unto Him and maketh them to be of those who fear not neither shall they grieve.

O Muhammad qabl-Mihdi! We have heard thy call and have answered thee through this perspicuous Tablet. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having remembered me and revealed unto me that which causeth to spring forth from the soil of hearts the roses of Thy knowledge and the flowers of Thy love. I beseech Thee by the penetrating influence of Thy Books and Thy Scriptures and Thy Tablets, and by the ocean of Thy verses and the heaven of Thy bounty, to ordain for me that which shall make me independent of all else save Thee and detached from whatsoever hath prevented Thy servants from drawing nigh unto Thee. Thou knowest, O my God, that this is a plant which hath grown in the soil of Thy acceptance—withhold not from it the rain from the clouds of Thy grace and the heaven of Thy generosity. Illumine its outer and inner being, and the inner depths of its inner being, with the light of Thy Cause whereby Thy earth and heaven were illumined. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Generous.

O son of the martyr! Upon thee be the Glory of God, the Mighty, the All-Praised! There hath befallen you from the oppressor of the land of Sad that which hath caused every seeing one to weep. Thou hast been mentioned before the Wronged One, to this beareth witness He Who hath acknowledged the unity of God and His grandeur and hath testified that there is none other God but Him, the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.

He is the One dawning from the horizon of the heaven of utterance

This is a Book which the All-Merciful hath sent down unto him who hath rent asunder the veils of vain imaginings on a Day when servants who have violated God’s Covenant and His Testament, who have disputed His verses, denied His proof, and rejected His evidence which hath encompassed all who are in the heavens and on earth, have clung fast unto them. The dawn hath appeared and the breezes of God have wafted over all regions, yet the people remain in evident drunkenness. They have cast away that which profiteth them and taken that which harmeth them, and have committed that which hath caused all things to lament. Soon shall they behold the recompense of their deeds. Verily God is the Just, the All-Wise.

Thy letter hath come before the Wronged One. We have read it and responded to thee with a Tablet, through every word of which God quickeneth those who have believed in Him and in that which hath been sent down from His presence. Verily thy Lord is the All-Bountiful, the Most Generous. From every letter of thy letter We have inhaled the fragrance of the knowledge of God, the Lord of all worlds. Blessed art thou for having believed in Him and in that which hath been sent down from the heaven of His grace, and for having acknowledged that which the Nightingale of proof hath warbled upon the highest branches.

The gate of heaven hath been opened and the Lord of the Kingdom of Names hath come with a sovereignty that the hosts could not repel, with a might that the power of kings could not weaken, and with a command that caused all who are in the heavens and on earth to soar. He hath stood before the faces of the world and summoned all unto the All-Informed One. He chose not silence for Himself nor did He veil His face for less than a moment. He appeared and made manifest what He desired, despite the company of divines who violated God’s Covenant and His Testament and turned away from His straight path.

When thou hearest the call of My Name, the Self-Subsisting, and attainest unto My choice-sealed wine, turn thy face toward God, the Lord of what was and what shall be, and say:

My God, my God! Praise be unto Thee for having moved Thy Most Exalted Pen to make mention of me while I was in the hands of the wicked, and thanksgiving be unto Thee for having caused the lights of Thy luminous countenance to shine upon me. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thy Command through which the ocean of Thy knowledge surged and the fragrance of Thy garment was wafted, and by Thy Name through which the gate of song was opened before the faces of the poor, and the gate of wisdom before all creation, and the gates of bounty, knowledge and giving before all who dwell in the kingdom of creation, and by the shrill voice of Thy Pen and the penetrating power of Thy Word, to ordain for me that which will draw me nigh unto Thee in all conditions. Verily Thou art the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted.

O my Lord! Disappoint me not of that which Thou hast ordained for the chosen ones among Thy servants who were so inebriated by the wine of Thy utterance that they hastened to the place of sacrifice, yearning to attain Thy presence and seeking Thy good-pleasure. Then write down for me the good of this world and the world to come. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Bountiful, the Ever-Flowing.
