Volume 049: 1872–1873 1289–1290 A.H., Part III (3 of 4)

BH06464: O handmaid of God! Praise be to the Lord…

He is the Most Bountiful, the Most Great

O handmaid of God! Praise be to the Lord of eternity that thou hast attained unto the most great honor and hast turned from the realm of darkness unto the sanctified realm of light. Well is it with thee! Every doubter hath turned away from the ocean, while every assured one hath drunk, praising his Lord, the Bestower, the Bountiful.

I swear by the Sun of sanctified glory that the veiled souls have been and are unaware, and through the utterances of the most wicked souls have turned away from the Dawning-Place of oneness, and this was purely out of desire, for none had any knowledge whatsoever of the root of the Cause. The light hath returned unto its likeness, and the fire unto its kind. For all there is a portion in the Book of thy Lord.

Praise be to God that thy name hath flowed from the Pen of the Ancient of Days and thy mention hath been made before the Throne. Blessed art thou, O My handmaid, in that thou hast turned unto God and the doubts of the skeptical did not withhold thee. Grieve thou not over anything, but rejoice in the bounty of thy Lord. He is with thee at all times. It behooveth thee to remain steadfast in this mighty Cause. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH06722: A Book written by the Pen of God…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Great

A Book written by the Pen of God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. Verily it is the Most Great Mystery among the nations and the Breath of Life among all that was and will be. O people! Turn ye unto God. Verily He hath come with the truth with manifest sovereignty. That which hath been created in the world will profit you not. Hasten ye to the grace and mercy of God—this is what will profit you, did ye but know. All things were created for My Day, yet when it came, they who disbelieved said:

“This is not what was promised to you in the Books of God, the Mighty, the Loving.”

Say: By what proof do ye uphold what ye possess, and by what evidence do ye argue for that which ye believe? Bring it forth, and follow not every vainglorious pretender. The atoms have testified to the Revealer of verses, yet ye hear not. All things have acknowledged the Lord of Names, yet ye understand not. Grieve not thou because of those who have turned away. Put thy trust in God. Say: O my Lord! Make me steadfast in Thy love, then enable me to serve Thee. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the Beloved.

BH06501: The Ancient Beauty speaks in the name…

In the Name of the One True Beloved

The Ancient Beauty speaks in the name of the Peerless Beloved: O My handmaiden and daughter of My handmaiden! Listen with thy spiritual ear to the divine call from the Immortal Pen in this radiant dawn.

Every soul who, with pure and attentive ears, has hearkened to the Call of God, has turned away from all else and directed themselves to the Qiblih of all horizons. The divine melody has ever been and shall ever be the quickener of decomposed bones. That melody at times appears in the form of water, speaking “Verily, I am the Quickener of the world,” and at times is manifest as the fire of attraction, uttering “Verily, I am the Attracter of hearts.” Blessed are the illumined hearts that have been quickened by the water of divine bounty and attracted by the fire of His love.

O handmaiden! Strive that thou mayest not be deprived of the lights of the manifestations of the countenance of the Beloved, and that thou mayest shine bright as a luminous star from the horizon of the heaven of inner meanings.

Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having made Thyself known unto me in Thy Days. Thou art He Who brings forth the living from the dead and light from fire. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the All-Powerful.

BH06729: A Book revealed in truth from the presence…

He is the Most Holy, the most Great, the Most Glorious

A Book revealed in truth from the presence of One All-Knowing, All-Wise to Mihdi, son of Muhammad-ʿAli, the Most Ancient, Most Great, Most Glorious. Verily it hath been detailed from the Most Great Book which speaketh among the nations: “There is no God but Me, the All-Powerful, the Almighty.” Follow not your passions, but follow guidance—this is better for you, if ye be of those who know.

From him who betrayeth God, nothing is acceptable, for thereby is the hem of sanctity sullied, and this indeed is a manifest wrong—unless he repenteth and returneth unto God, the Forgiving, the Merciful. We have pardoned those who betrayed in the past, but whosoever committeth it hereafter, We shall seize him with might from Our presence, and verily I am the Strong, the Severe. Say: It behooveth you to adorn yourselves with My attributes, that My qualities may be manifested through you among My servants. Thus have ye been commanded by One All-Knowing, All-Informed.

Adorn yourselves with the ornament of trustworthiness among all people, that through it God’s sanctification may be made manifest in all else. Act according to that which ye have been commanded by an Ancient Commander. Remind thou the people of what hath been ordained in this Tablet, and be not of them that keep silent, that perchance they may cast away their passions and follow the Lord of all worlds.

BH06563: Praise be unto Him Who hath revealed laws…

He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious

Praise be unto Him Who hath revealed laws in accordance with His good-pleasure. Verily, He is sovereign over whatsoever He wisheth. O My friends! Act ye in accordance with what ye have been commanded in the Book. Fasting hath been decreed for you in the month of ʿAla. Fast ye for the sake of your Lord, the Mighty, the Most High. Restrain yourselves from sunrise to sunset. Thus doth the Beloved of mankind instruct you as bidden by God, the All-Powerful, the Unconstrained. It is not for anyone to exceed the limits laid down by God and His law, nor should anyone follow his own idle imaginings. Well is it with the one who fulfilleth My decrees for the love of My Beauty, and woe to the one who neglecteth the Dayspring of Command in the days of his Lord, the Almighty, the Omnipotent.

They who circle round the Throne have fasted for numbered years–thus doth your Lord, the Ancient of Days, inform you—that ye may arise to fulfil the deeds enjoined upon you. No burden is laid upon the traveller or the sick. This is of My grace unto the servants. Hold fast, O people, to that which shall profit you in this world and in the world to come, and follow not them that have wandered in the wilderness of error. Give thanks unto thy Lord that thou hast been remembered in the presence of the Throne, and that the gaze of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful, hath been turned toward thee.

BH06565: In His Name, Who hath power over all who…

In His Name, Who hath power over all who are in the realm of possibilities! Glorified be He Who maketh Himself known at all times and sendeth down verses at morn and eventide. He that hath heard hath turned unto Him and attained unto the Day of Return, and he that hath turned away hath been prevented by his own self from his Lord—he is assuredly among those who have gone astray.

Say: O people! Cast aside whatsoever ye possess, for the Ancient Beauty hath appeared with majesty and glory. Turn ye unto Him with radiant faces and illumined hearts. Thus doth command you He Who hath dawned from the horizon of Beauty. They who have deprived themselves of the Living Waters in the days of the All-Merciful are indeed the lost, while they who have turned unto the Truth and quaffed the choice wine of reunion are the triumphant ones. All things have been attracted by the effulgence of His countenance, and yet most men remain fettered and bound. Blessed is he who hath broken the chains of idle fancy with the hands of certitude and turned unto God, the Self-Subsisting, the Most High. When thou didst discover the fragrance of His verses and wert attracted by the words of thy Lord, the Lord of all attributes, arise and say: O people! The Promised One hath come, and in His grasp are the reins of all destinies.

BH06479: The All-Highest, the Most Holy

The All-Highest, the Most Holy

O Nasir! The All-Knowing Lord says: When thou hast My love, thou hast all; naught else is needed. Strive that the pearls of divine love remain protected from thieves. By My life! This endures as long as the Kingdom and the realm above endure, while all else perishes. Verily thy Lord is cognizant of all things. The most enriched of servants is the one who has attained to this most glorious and most exalted station.

Blessed art thou for having recognized thy Lord and for not being held back from Him by the veils of those who have disbelieved in God, the Lord of the worlds. Be not distressed by matters that may arise. Verily He is with thee and ordaineth for thee that which profiteth thee. He is indeed the Almighty, the All-Powerful. With the ear of thy soul, hearken unto the call of the All-Merciful, that thou mayest become so intoxicated and overjoyed by the choice wine of divine utterance that the sorrow of the world and its peoples may not sadden thee. Having attached thyself to the Truth, commit all matters unto Him. He is the Trustworthy, the Compassionate. Thus have We revealed unto thee that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord and be of them that are assured. And glory be upon thee and upon them that are with thee and upon those who have rent asunder the veils through this Most Great Name.

BH06895: Today it behooveth every soul to reflect upon…

He is the Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Great

Today it behooveth every soul to reflect upon the Cause of God and His sovereignty, and to be of the fair-minded. How many a servant acknowledged God and professed His Cause, yet when the breezes of trials blew, turned away and became of the veiled ones. Blessed is the soul that beholdeth the Most Sublime Vision with illumined vision. Hath any fair-minded one ever lost, or any who drew nigh been prevented, or any who sought nearness been kept distant? Nay, by His own Self! Verily His mercy hath preceded all creation.

Those who have doubted are wandering in the wilderness of idle fancies—they are indeed of the heedless ones. O thou servant! Hearken unto the call of Him Who remembereth thee for the sake of God and summoneth thee unto Him, even while He was in the hands of the oppressors. Think not that those who are heedless of God’s Cause, nor those who have acted unjustly, shall gain any profit. These are they who have lost in this world and the next. Soon shall they witness that which We have promised them in a mighty Tablet. Place thy trust in God, then remember Him at eventide and at dawn. Verily He is with His remembering servants. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

BH06637: Your letter hath been illumined by the lights…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Great

Your letter hath been illumined by the lights of the horizon of Revelation and hath been honored by the glance of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful. We make mention of thee in return for thy mention of Him. He, verily, is the Best of Rewarders, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Through his presence before the Throne, God hath forgiven thy sins and made thee to be numbered with them that have attained. He, verily, forgiveth whomsoever He willeth through His sovereignty. He, verily, is the Bestower, the Forgiver, the Mighty, the Merciful.

Despair not of the Spirit of God and His breath, but rather rejoice in this Perspicuous Tablet. Be thou steadfast in the Cause, then strive that there may appear from thee that which beseemeth this supreme triumph.

As to what was mentioned concerning him who hath paused—verily he shall accept. Thus was it ordained in Iraq for whomsoever was related to this mighty Root. The branch moveth with the root, even though it be heedless. He, verily, is the Quickener, the Mover, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

Be thou grateful for having attained unto the mention of thy Lord and for His having turned toward thee the face of the Ancient of Days from this grievous station. Fix thy gaze upon Him under all conditions, and be of them that make mention of Him among the peoples of the world. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds, the Lord of the first ones and the last ones.

BH06423: Give thanks unto God for having enabled thee…

Give thanks unto God for having enabled thee to circumambulate the Most Great House and to attain unto the Most Great Pilgrimage. Be thou thankful and among those who render thanks. Grieve thou not over anything. Place thy trust in Him in all matters. He, verily, is the Forgiving, the Merciful. We beseech God to aid us in obeying Him according to what He hath commanded us in His firm and impregnable Book.

Be not sorrowful in any way. Convey greetings and salutations to the friends in whatsoever lands they may be. Praise be to God that thou hast attained unto all good and been honored with complete bounty. A strong prohibition is necessary against the friends turning toward this spot. It is binding and obligatory upon every soul to obey the command of God. All must act according to that which hath been revealed in the divine Book and submit to it with perfect contentment. No one hath the right to transgress that which hath been commanded in the Book. Say: Fear ye God and follow not your idle fancies. Follow that which is better for you. With Him is the knowledge of all things, but the people know not.

BH06678: The Ever-Abiding One, Who perisheth not! The Holy Spirit…

The Ever-Abiding One, Who perisheth not! The Holy Spirit proclaimeth: O concourse of the seen and the unseen! The Promised Day is come and the Intended One hath appeared with the sovereignty of God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.

O My loved ones! Abandon oppression and immerse yourselves in the ocean of the favors of your Lord, the Mighty, the Loving. Whosoever immerseth himself in this ocean is so attracted by the lights of Beauty that he turneth neither to the right nor to the left. He is indeed of the people of Baha in the Preserved Tablet. The world hath been moved by the warmth of the Word of the Lord of nations. Blessed are they who recognize!

Blessed art thou for having cast aside the pool and turned to the ocean of My Name, the All-Powerful, and for having responded to thy Lord when the Tongue of thy Lord, the King, spoke for My Own Self, the One that dominateth every witness and witnessed thing.

Say: O My loved ones! Abandon corruption and hold fast unto wisdom, wherewith ye have been commanded by the All-Wise. He is indeed the Truth, the Knower of things unseen. Through it the fragrance of the garment is diffused amongst men and the souls of those who are troubled find peace. Associate with all people, keeping your gaze fixed upon the horizon of grace. He is indeed the Mighty, the Forgiving.

Be not grieved. God will soon exalt you through the truth, and the traces of those who have wronged shall be demolished.

BH06551: This is a remembrance unto him who was mentioned…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Ancient

This is a remembrance unto him who was mentioned before the Throne, that he may arise to serve his Lord with the power of his All-Knowing, All-Wise Lord. O servant! Thy Lord hath borne all the tribulations of the earth to manifest the Cause of thy Lord, the Almighty, the Omnipotent, that all may recognize the Lord of the worlds. Among the people are those who have denied the signs and proofs of God, and among them are those who have turned to God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. Verily, he who hath turned unto Him is extolled by those in the Kingdom of Command, while he who hath turned away is cursed by the denizens of the realm of Might and those who circle round His glorious Throne.

Give thanks unto God for having attained unto My days and for having recognized that which most of the servants have failed to recognize. This is naught but a manifest grace. Sorrows have encompassed Us in these days to such an extent that none can reckon them save the All-Knowing One. In such a state We have left them and commit all unto God, the Mighty, the Bountiful. It behooveth him who hath believed in God to follow his Lord in this wise Cause in such wise that neither the prevention of any preventer nor the turning away of those who have disbelieved in God, the Lord of the exalted Throne, shall hinder him.

BH06548: Mention was made of thee in the Most Holy…

He is the Most Ancient, the Most Great

Mention was made of thee in the Most Holy Presence. Therefore this most impregnable Tablet hath been revealed from the Supreme Pen especially for that handmaiden of God and is being sent, that thou mayest be assured of His favor and stand firm in His Cause.

Beseech God—exalted be His glory—at all times that He may grant thee success to remain not veiled by the world and whatsoever is therein from His recognition. With heart and soul remain steadfast in His love and engaged in His remembrance.

The ocean of bounty is surging—blessed are they that advance! The chalice of mercy is overflowing—joy and happiness to them that drink! The effulgences of the lights of His countenance are manifest and visible—blessed are they that attain!

Strive thou that through the favors of the Friend thou mayest become detached and freed from all else but Him and mayest gaze with thy entire being toward the Most Great Scene. With complete resolve and utter helplessness, beseech the Sovereign Who doeth what He willeth that He deprive not any from the Kawthar of His knowledge. He is powerful over all things. He is verily the Powerful, the Forgiving, the Generous.

BH06477: O handmaiden of God! God willing, through the grace…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy

O handmaiden of God! God willing, through the grace of the All-Merciful, may you be engaged at all times in His remembrance and be gladdened by His love. All things have been created for the knowledge of God, yet none have attained to this most exalted, most holy, most glorious station save pure and tranquil souls. Most of the servants who are occupied day and night with the remembrance of God remain deprived, as is evident. This grace is all-encompassing and unlimited, such that some handmaidens have attained this station while most of the learned ones of the age, despite their great knowledge, remain deprived and excluded. Therefore, whosoever attains to this station, be they women or men, must manifest such qualities and character that the fragrance of holiness may be inhaled therefrom. This is the true divine Word that has shone forth from the dawning-place of the celestial Pen:

“Blessed are the remembering women and the pure women. Woe to the heedless ones.”

Therefore praise thy Lord for having remembered thee before the Face and revealed unto thee this Tablet, which God hath made the ornament of His remembrance for all who are in the heavens and on earth.

BH06550: This is My remembrance unto him who hath turned…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Ancient

This is My remembrance unto him who hath turned unto Our countenance, and directed himself towards the Point of Adoration of all who are in heaven and on earth, that he may hearken, with the ear of his heart, unto the call of God, and arise to serve the Cause in both the morning and the night-season.

Blessed art thou, inasmuch as the countenance of thy Lord hath turned towards thee from these precincts, which God hath appointed the source of illumination unto all lands. Be thou steadfast in thy love for Him Who is thy Lord, and be not of those who, when the winds of trial pass over them, rise up in protest, and oppose themselves unto God, the Lord of all religions.

Arise thou in such wise that thou shalt not be swayed by the whisperings of the people, nor perturbed by the idle fancies of those who speak as prompted by their own desires, notwithstanding that thy Lord, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, doth Himself attest unto their ignorance. Beware lest thou be dismayed by all that chanceth on earth. Remain thou steadfast in that which hath been enjoined upon thee by thy Lord, the Almighty, the All-Compelling.

We, truly, have sent down on every matter that which shall impart tranquillity unto the minds of the God-fearing. Blessed are those that read the verses of Our Revelation, and discover from them that which hath been purposed by their Lord, Who ordaineth whatsoever He desireth. Thus have We sent down the verses, and despatched them unto thee, that thou mayest yield thanks unto the Lord thy God, unto Whose command the winds are subject.

BH06656: One night I was present before the Throne. I…

One night I was present before the Throne. I was standing in the presence for about twenty minutes or more when suddenly the Ancient Beauty turned toward me and the Tongue of Grandeur spoke, addressing the Name of God, the Most Truthful, upon him be the Glory of God. His mighty and glorious Word was:

“O Our Name the Most Truthful! Turn toward the Most Great Scene, detached from the worlds. When thou hearest the Call, leave creation behind thee, turning toward God, the Most High, the Most Great. Hasten and tarry not, that perchance thou mayest see thyself in this glorious Scene. Advance in such wise as befitteth advancing toward the All-Knowing One, and with a heart wherein naught is remembered save My mighty and wondrous remembrance. Thus hast thou been commanded from the presence of a mighty and powerful One. Turn in such wise that through thy turning the realities of all things shall turn. Thus doth the Lord of Names command thee, for He is the Commander over what He willeth. If thou attainest unto the station, it is the essence of attainment. [Otherwise] convey the Command of thy Lord along the way. Leave thy son in the house, then travel the path with a single trustworthy companion. Thus hath My firm and dominant Command been sent down from the heaven of revelation [the Mighty, the Impregnable].”

BH06539: In the Name of Him Who is the Possessor…

In the Name of Him Who is the Possessor of Creation! This is a remembrance from Our presence unto those who have believed in God and have held fast unto His firm and mighty cord, that they may give thanks unto their Creator for His remembrance of them through the tongue of the Dawning-Place of His Revelation when He was in the hands of the oppressors.

Arise, then assist this wronged and lonely One Who hath sacrificed His all for the manifestation of God’s Cause and the exaltation of His Word amongst the worlds. Doth this world prevent you from the remembrance of your Lord, the Most Glorious? Reflect upon those who have gone before you, that perchance the might of the heedless may not hold you back from His remembrance. The days shall pass, and ye shall behold your Lord ascendant over all who are in the heavens and on earth.

Say: Do ye imagine that We have desired aught for Our Own Self? Nay, by the Self of God, the Almighty, the All-Powerful! We have sacrificed Our Self and Our glory in the path of God, as witnessed by all things, yet most of the people are among the deniers. Were they to be fair-minded, they would cry out to this Name through which the Most Great Ocean was set in motion and the Sun of Grace shone forth from the horizon of a luminous dawn.

Thus have We recounted unto thee that which causeth tears to flow from the eyes of them that are nigh unto God. Read thou and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of the hearts of them that know!

BH06579: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Impregnable, the Most Exalted!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest that I have desired to make mention of one of Thy servants who is pure in his devotion to Thy face, that the sweet-scented breezes of Thy mercy may draw him to such a station wherein he may arise to praise Thy Self amongst Thy creatures and to exalt Thy Word amidst Thy creation. O Lord! Aid him in Thy service, then make him to be among those who have attained unto the most great steadfastness, O Creator of earth and heaven, and who have stood firm in such wise that neither the opposition of the divines nor the objections of the theologians nor the derision of those who have disbelieved in Thy most exalted, most glorious Self could deter them. O Lord! Ordain for Thy loved ones that which will draw them nigh unto Thee and sanctify them from all else besides Thee. Thou art, verily, the Almighty over what Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

O Lord! Thou seest me in prison between the two parties. I beseech Thee by the Lamp of Thy Cause whereby the earth of Thy will and the heaven of Thy purpose were illumined, to send down from the clouds of Thy mercy upon him who hath desired Thee that which shall render him pure from all else save Thee and sanctified from the mention of aught besides Thee. Verily, Thou art the Ruler over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Powerful.

BH06446: O Mukhtar! Hear the call of thy Lord…

In the Name of God, the Most Mighty, the Most Holy

O Mukhtar! Hear the call of thy Lord, the Almighty, from the Tree of Fire. Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. All things bear witness unto God, the Sovereign of all names, but the people hear not. Today the Tree of Sinai calleth out between earth and heaven: “O concourse of creation! The gates of heaven have been opened through this Lamp that hath appeared in human temple. Hasten with your hearts and follow not every rejected idolater.” The trembling of the Divine Meeting hath seized the land of Batha, whereupon it crieth out and saith: “Praise be unto Thee, O my Lord, the Mighty, the Loving!”

And from another direction the Aqsa Mosque speaketh forth: “Praise be unto Thee, O God of Names, for I perceive the fragrance of Thy garment from the direction of Thy imprisoned Name.” Blessed is he who is detached from all else save Him and turneth unto his Lord on this Day wherein the Witness and the Witnessed have appeared. Remember thy Lord and say: “O my God! Deprive me not of the breezes of Thy revelation and inspiration. Ordain for me what Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones. Verily, Thou art the Omnipotent over whatsoever Thou willest through Thy word ʿBe’ and it is.”

BH06564: In His Name, the One Who rules over all…

In His Name, the One Who rules over all names! Glorified is He Who mentions whomsoever He wishes from among His creation. Verily He is the Forgiving, the Generous. He honors whomsoever He pleases with mention from His presence. Verily He is the Mighty, the Powerful. When the Tongue of Grandeur mentions any one of the servants, God ordains for him that which none comprehends save His Own Self, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Blessed is the soul that hath drunk from the Kawthar of revelation from His mighty, impregnable Pen. Verily the water of life flows in the darkness of the ink. Blessed is he who hath attained unto it. He is indeed among the choicest of creation before God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. O Isma’il! Hearken unto the call from the Valley of Nabil. Verily there is none other God but Him, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Be thou steadfast in the love of God and be of them that are firm in His Cause. O Ibrahim! The Wronged One remembereth thee while He is in the land of exile in a mighty prison. Be ye both thankful unto your Lord under all conditions in such wise that the veils of the malicious ones prevent you not. Thus have We adorned you both with the ornament of remembrance from this noble horizon. Verily the glory rest upon you both and upon your mother. Give her the glad-tidings of My remembrance of her from God, the Exalted, the Great.

BH06426: The Pen crieth out and the heart lamenteth…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious

The Pen crieth out and the heart lamenteth—take heed, O ye who are endued with insight! By My life! Were We to loose the reins of the Pen, it would rend asunder the veil of ancient days, and ye would witness that which no eye hath perceived nor any mind conceived. We have delivered unto all the messages of God in such wise as none can reckon save God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

We sat in prison, turning unto Him and making mention of Him at all times. Whenever the flames of fire from the wicked encompassed Me, We proclaimed in loudest voice and summoned the servants unto the Lord of the Day of Mutual Calling. Among them were such as turned and attained that which their Lord, the All-Knowing, had purposed for them, and among them were such as denied and returned to the nethermost fire. O loved ones of God! Hearken unto the call, then turn unto Him with illumined hearts. Thus hath the command been sent down in the Tablets. Let not distance grieve you, for the path is cut off through that which the hands of the wicked have wrought. Be ye the trusted ones of God amidst His servants and His chosen ones in His kingdom. This beseemeth him who hath acknowledged this Cause, through which the horizons have been illumined. Blessed art thou and blessed is he who hath turned and attained that which his Lord desired.

BH06657: In His Name, He Who is established upon…

In His Name, He Who is established upon the throne of names! Your mention hath been made in the presence of this Prisoner, and there hath been sent down for thee this wondrous Book, that it may cause thee to be mindful of His Cause and to make mention of His Name which hath encompassed the worlds. Various tablets have been sent down for thee for the sake of God, the Lord of Names, even as We summon all unto the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Turn not thy gaze to the world and whatsoever is therein; soon shalt thou find thyself in a strange place. It behooveth everyone today to arise to celebrate the praise and remembrance of God amidst the concourse of creation. Thus hath it been ordained in a perspicuous Tablet.

Hearken not unto that which is unseemly to hear. Leave the idolaters to their vain imaginings and be thou of them that are firmly established. Be thou so steadfast in the Cause that neither the allusions of the heedless nor the doubts of the suspicious shall deter thee. We beseech God to aid thee in that which He loveth and is pleased with, and to make thee among the steadfast.

Say: O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name to make me one of those who have attained unto Thy presence and have hearkened unto Thy call and have detached themselves from all else besides Thee. Then ordain for me in Thy Kingdom that which shall cause me to endure through the endurance of Thy Cause. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.

BH06478: O Mustafa! Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Mighty

O Mustafa! Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my Lord, the Most Glorious, for having caused me to hear Thy call and making me present before the throne of Thy grandeur, and for having conversed with me without veil or barrier.

The grace of Truth seized thee and once again confirmed thee and brought thee to the Most Great Prison. God willing, thou must manifest such enkindlement that through the fire of thy love the hearts and minds of the people and the souls of the servants may turn toward the Beloved. Be not grieved that thou hast returned to thy homeland. Though the true original home is indeed the precincts of the Throne, yet since thou didst return by God’s leave and His good-pleasure, I swear by My life that it is the Kawthar of life. Blessed art thou for having drunk the choice wine of the Cause and for having heard that which thou wast bidden by the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Forbid the loved ones of God from turning toward this direction. Say: O friends, harm befalleth the root of the Tree through your coming and going. Beware lest ye transgress the bounds set forth in the Tablets. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Under all conditions place thy trust in God and conduct thyself with the utmost gentleness and forbearance toward thy relatives and others. Forget not the compassionate counsels which thou didst hear face to face from the Dayspring of Divine Unity. The glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee, from God, the Mighty, the Most Praised.

BH06434: O Samandar! The Master of Divine Decree calls thee…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Bountiful

O Samandar! The Master of Divine Decree calls thee from this Most Great Horizon, that the breezes of Revelation may repeatedly draw thee unto Him. Verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

Were one to collect together all that hath been sent down unto thee of the verses of thy Lord, he would witness a mighty book, greater than other Tablets. This is of the grace of thy Lord. He is sufficient unto thee, by virtue of His truth. No God is there but Him, the Glorious, the Bestower.

Thou hast spent what thou hadst in the path of God—to this the Lord of all being bears witness. God will soon reward thee for what thou hast done in His love. He is verily the Powerful, the Unconstrained. Sorrow not over anything, for He is with thee and He is the Helper of the righteous. Turn all thy affairs, both outward and inward, to the face of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.

We have commanded thy brother to return to thee, after he came twice into the presence of the Throne and heard the call of God from this Station. Upon you both be the glory of God and His praise, and the praise of them that circle round the Throne at all times. Then glory be upon those who are with thee, both men and women, who have believed in God, the Revealer of verses.

BH06496: Blessed is He Who hath sent down the verses…

In the Name of God, the Most Wondrous, the Most Exalted

Blessed is He Who hath sent down the verses and made them clear evidences for the followers of all religions. The Fire calleth out from the Mount and the Light appeareth before the Manifestation, and sovereignty belongeth unto God, the Almighty, the Unconstrained. Blessed is he who hath heard the Call and responded; woe unto every heedless doubter. Among the people are those who say He hath fabricated a lie against God—thus did those who disbelieved speak aforetime. Verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Say: If ye deny this Manifestation, by what proof do ye uphold your faith in God? Bring it forth, O people of error! By My life, there is no escape for anyone today save for him who hath turned towards the Countenance and turned away from every misbeliever and infidel.

Blessed is he who hath attained unto the days of God and found the fragrance of holiness from this Garment, whose sweet-scented perfume hath wafted to all regions. Verily those who are heedless this day—these have cast guidance behind their backs and embraced their own desires. Soon shall punishment descend upon them from every direction. Let not the words of those who have disbelieved in God grieve thee. Glorify the praise of thy Lord and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who hast made Thyself known unto me and hast sent unto me that whereby the dead are quickened.

BH06767: This is a mention from Us to her who…

He is the Most Wondrous, the Most Glorious

This is a mention from Us to her who has turned to God on a day wherein the fragrance of the All-Merciful wafted throughout creation, that it might draw her to a station wherein she becomes detached from all who are on earth for the sake of her Lord, the Mighty, the Luminous. O My handmaiden! Hearken unto the Call from the precincts of the Prison, from the glowing, luminous Fire. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting. How many a woman has believed, and how many a man has been prevented due to following vain imaginings. Indeed, bounty is in God’s hand—He bestoweth it upon whomsoever He willeth. He, verily, is the One, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.

Know thou the worth of what God hath ordained for thee, then give thanks to Him at morn and eventide. Be thou content with what God hath decreed. Verily thy Lord is He Who judgeth as He pleaseth. In this Revelation there hath appeared what hath never appeared before. Blessed are they who are endowed with insight. Say: Praise be to Thee, O Lord of Names and Creator of earth and heaven, for having made known unto me the Manifestation of Thy Cause and the Dawning-Place of Thy lights. I beseech Thee by Him and by Him Whom Thou hast willed, to make me steadfast in Thy Cause. Verily, Thou art the Mighty, the All-Bestowing.

BH06436: O servant! When thou findest thyself turning unto God…

In the Name of God, the Exalted, the Most Great

O servant! When thou findest thyself turning unto God and detached from all else save Him, turn to Him with thy heart and say: All praise be unto Thee, O God of Names and Creator of heaven, for having aided me to know Thee and to know Thy chosen ones who soared in the atmosphere of Thy nearness and walked the paths of Thy good-pleasure, whom Thou hast described in the decisive verses of Thy Book and in Thy binding utterance as those who “speak not until He hath spoken, and who do His bidding.”

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy Self and by them, to make me in all circumstances to turn unto Thee and to gaze toward the horizon of Thy good-pleasure and to act according to what Thou hast commanded me through the tongue of the Manifestation of Thyself and the Dayspring of Thy signs. Then ordain for me, O my God, what Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones, and decree for me that which shall profit me in this world and the next and shall make me steadfast in Thy love and firm in Thy Cause. Verily Thou art He in Whose grasp is the reins of all created things and in Whose right hand is the kingdom of all possibilities. Thou doest what Thou willest through Thy sovereignty and ordainest what Thou desirest through Thy power. There is no God but Thee, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.

BH06494: Blessed is He Who hath manifested the Glory…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious

Blessed is He Who hath manifested the Glory and made it the Dawning-Place of His sovereignty unto all who dwell in the realms of creation. Among the people are those who have recognized and hastened unto the Most Great Horizon, and among them are those who have turned away and followed every disbelieving deceiver. He who hath turned towards it is of them who have attained unto the presence of God, and he who hath turned away is of the companions of the fire in the Book of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Chosen One. They have lost, those who cast the remembrance of God behind their backs and seized that which hath blackened faces and caused hearts to burn.

Hearken unto that which is revealed unto thee from the direction of eternity. This Most Great Name—glory be to God, the Powerful, the Mighty, the Compeller! Look not upon the prison and what I endure of tribulation, but rather upon the light shining forth from the horizon of Glory whereby the regions have been illumined. Glory is not what the people have known, but rather what hath shone forth today from the horizon of Revelation with sovereignty and power. Soon shalt thou behold the Self-Subsisting One ascendant over all who are on earth. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the Pen which God hath made the sovereign of all pens. Remember thy Lord—verily He is with those who have turned unto His Face and fulfilled the Covenant.

BH06619: Upon you be the peace of God and His…

Upon you be the peace of God and His mercy! We have seen your letter and read it. Do not grieve over what was mentioned regarding the pitcher. Verily your Lord is the Great Ocean. Be as your Master was—verily He was of a magnificent character. He walks on the path of reckoning. Thus has it been ordained by Him Who is the Most Excellent of Reckoners.

Through your letter the Cause smiled and the sorrowful heart was made glad. We beseech God to grant you a goodly reward, for He is the Lord of the doers of good.

There is no objection to going to Haifa, as investigation of the letter is outwardly necessary to the extent possible. May you always be joyous and be the cause of happiness and gladness to sorrowing hearts.

That which We told you before has come to pass, and that which remains shall appear. Verily He is the Ordainer, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. We beseech God to assist you in all conditions. Verily He is the Almighty, the Powerful.

We have sent you bread—take it with the hand of joy, eat and be of the thankful ones. The world is in upheaval while we are occupied with drinking tea. Your place is very empty.

BH06634: The Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

The Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

The melody of God hath been raised from this region wherein the Spirit cried out “Here am I, here am I, O Desire of the worlds!” and wherein God revealed Himself unto Him Who conversed with Him, and the Tree called out “There is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the All-Wise!” The warmth of thy Lord’s love, the All-Merciful, hath seized all atoms, whereupon every rock proclaimeth “Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of them that know, for having manifested Thy beauty unto Thy servants and revealed Thyself unto all who are in the heavens and on earth!” The rapture of Thy Lord’s remembrance hath seized all things, yet the people remain behind a clear veil. Blessed is he who hath rent asunder the veils through this blessed, mighty and wondrous Name.

Beware lest vain imaginings prevent thee from this straight path. Hold fast unto the cord of My loving-kindness, then immerse thyself in the ocean of My Cause, and draw near with thy heart unto this Scene from whose horizon hath shone forth the Sun of thy Lord’s beauty, the Mighty, the Powerful, the All-Wise. Thus have We sent down unto thee the verses—by My life, wert thou to taste their sweetness, thou wouldst soar in thy longing toward God, the Mighty, the Bountiful. When the way was barred, We commanded approach through hearts, O ye who have turned towards God! Thus hath the decree been ordained in the Tablet by the Pen of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Beautiful.

BH06770: This is a Book from Us to him who…

In the Name of God, the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious!

This is a Book from Us to him who hath turned his face toward the Countenance and taken unto the All-Merciful a way, that the attraction of the Almighty may seize him in such wise as to detach him from all creation, clinging to the cord through whose movement all worlds have been set in motion. Exalted be the All-Merciful Who hath come with a name whereby the greatest terror appeared and trembling seized every idolator who was far removed from the Truth. Be thou thankful unto God inasmuch as thy remembrance hath come before the Most Great Remembrance, and He hath sent down for thee that which shall gladden the eyes. Place thy trust in all matters in God, thy Lord.

He, verily, aideth whom He willeth and assisteth those who have turned toward Him through a sovereignty that encompasseth all worlds. He ordaineth for whomsoever He desireth whatsoever He willeth and pleaseth. His bounty hath encompassed all existence, both seen and unseen. Blessed is he who hath taken Him as his Guardian. Remember thy Lord by night and by day. Through His remembrance hath the sun shone forth and the horizons been illumined. Say: O my Lord! I am he who hath turned toward Thee. Write down, then, for me that which is best for me. Verily, Thou art the Omnipotent over whatsoever Thou pleasest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

BH06775: The Most Great, the Most High! This…

The Most Great, the Most High! This is a Book from the All-Bestowing to him who hath turned towards the Countenance when every idolater and doubter turned away. Say: The sealed flask hath been unsealed by the fingers of might. Blessed is he who in the days of his Lord, the All-Merciful, hath quaffed therefrom the living waters. Leave him who hath disbelieved; take ye the most pure Kawthar, turning towards the Most Sublime Vision, then drink in My Name, the One Who dominateth all existence. Say: This is the Day of God wherein the Ancient One hath established Himself upon the throne of His Most Great Name. Behold, O ye who are endued with insight! O servant! Know thou that I am even now immersed in an ocean of tribulation in the path of God, the Lord of all names, and yet My tongue speaketh and My Pen writeth that which hath been ordained by Him Who is the Fashioner of earth and heaven.

Arise to aid the Cause of thy Lord. Say: O my God! Enable me to serve Thee in such wise that the veils of the people and the whispers of those in the lands shall not hold me back. Blessed is the heart that hath won My love, and the tongue that hath spoken My praise, and the face that hath turned towards the Lord of all men. We have ordained that acceptance be through the hearts, because of that which the hands of every idolatrous unbeliever have wrought.

BH06986: O Husayn! Your letter was present before the Throne…

In the Name of the One Friend!

O Husayn! Your letter was present before the Throne and that which was mentioned therein was heard. Concerning the trials and tribulations which thou didst recount, all are known in the presence of the Ancient Beauty. He Himself hath been and will be subject to countless afflictions. Surely His loved ones must also be ordained to receive a portion from this cup.

The essential fruit of existence and that which profiteth it hath been the knowledge of God, exalted be His glory. Praise be to God that ye have attained unto this station. He who hath attained unto this station was and is the most wealthy of all the peoples of the world. Be not grieved by the confusion and differences in outward affairs. That which hath been ordained will appear in its time.

In this Most Great Revelation, engagement in some occupation hath been prescribed for all the loved ones. Be thou occupied with some matter, placing thy trust in God. God willing, His grace will encompass thee. Ye have always been and will continue to be in Our sight. The Glory be upon thee and upon thy family and those who are with thee.

BH06953: O Pen of Eternity! Make mention of the peoples…

He is the Most Wondrous, the Most Exalted

O Pen of Eternity! Make mention of the peoples, that perchance Thy remembrance may draw them unto God, the King, the Mighty, the Bestower. Then make mention of him who turned unto the Dawning-Place of Revelation after all the deceitful and perfidious ones had turned away from it, that he might remember his Lord amongst the servants and arise to serve the Cause at all times.

Know thou that there hath come before the Throne a letter whose beginning We found adorned with the mention of God, the Cleaver of the Dawn, and whose end was embellished with the names of those from whom We perceived the fragrance of the love of their Lord, the All-Merciful. Therefore have We sent down for each one of them that which shall bring solace to their eyes. Verily thy Lord’s bounty hath preceded all things and His mercy hath preceded all created things.

We have moved the Pen to make mention of thee first, inasmuch as We found thy name at the beginning of the letter. Blessed are ye for having gathered together and made mention of your Lord, the Mighty, the Unconstrained. Blessed is the house wherein the mention of My Name is raised. By My life! It is under the gaze of your Lord, the Lord of all men.

Take ye the cups of felicity in the name of the Cleaver of the Dawn, then drink and say:

“Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of those who are in the heavens and on earth!”

BH07253: In His Name, the Most Great, the Most Great!…

In His Name, the Most Great, the Most Great! This is a Book sent down in truth from the heaven of the Will of the All-Merciful as a favor unto all created things. Blessed is he who pondereth upon it, and woe unto the heedless. Take hold, O people, of the Book of God with hands of submission and contentment, and be not of them that hesitate. The mountains have hastened unto the All-Possessing, the Most High, and all things have been drawn by the call of the Lord of Names, yet the people remain asleep. The wine of idle fancy hath so seized them that they have become heedless of the Dayspring of Guidance Who hath come with manifest sovereignty.

Every sect rejoiceth in that which it possesseth. By God! Were they to know, they would bewail themselves. Thy Lord, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Blessed art thou for having attained and heard the call when thy Ancient Lord appeared. Place thy trust in Him under all conditions, then aid Him through wisdom and utterance. He, verily, aideth whoever aideth Him. Thy Lord is, in truth, the All-Powerful, the Almighty. Grieve not on account of them that have denied the right of God and His signs. God shall soon seize them by His command. He, verily, is powerful over whatsoever He willeth. There is none other God but Him, the Omnipotent, the All-Compelling, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH07082: Thy mention hath been made before the Throne…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

Thy mention hath been made before the Throne, and the glance of loving-kindness is directed towards thee. Be not grieved at the world and its diverse conditions.

The adornment of the people of God hath ever been through their own selves and not through outward things. The luminous countenance hath no need of ornament. Praise be to God that thou art adorned with the ornament of divine love and art illumined by the lights of the Sun of Truth. All the treasures of the heavens and earth cannot equal this station.

Regarding certain servants, whatsoever they desired was granted them, and that very thing became the cause of their being veiled, as ye have witnessed and heard. Therefore, whatsoever cometh to pass hath been and shall be for the best.

Praise the Beloved of the worlds that thy name floweth from the Pen of the Ancient of Days in the Most Great Scene, and thou art mentioned and renowned for thy love of God amongst the Concourse on High and the dwellers of the Most Glorious Pavilion. Preserve thou this lofty station. He shall send down for thee whatsoever He willeth. Be thou assured of His grace and be of the thankful ones.

Say: All praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH07293: This is a Tablet from Us to him who…

He is the Most Exalted, the Most Holy

This is a Tablet from Us to him who hath drawn nigh unto God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. Blessed art thou, inasmuch as thou hast inhaled the fragrance of the divine Robe and hast chosen for thyself a station beneath the shade of this praiseworthy Seat.

They who have detached themselves in My love from all else besides Me—these are reckoned among the most excellent of creatures in the sight of God, and these are they who are sincere. As for those who hesitated after the clear proofs came unto them, for them hath been ordained an irrevocable punishment. They who have denied the Unseen—these are a people who deny the truth.

Say: It is through this Tongue that He summoneth the peoples unto His Most Great Name. Blessed are they who recognize Him.

Let not the intimations of men grieve thee, nor the words of those who have disbelieved in the Witness and the Witnessed. Be thou assured through thy Lord’s grace and place thy trust in Him in all matters. Verily, He is with whomsoever desireth Him and He aideth those who have cast away their idle fancies and turned towards the Mighty, the Well-Beloved.

Thus have We imparted unto thee the word of truth and revealed unto thee in prison that which rejoiceth the hearts.

BH06949: O Ali! Hearken unto the call of what hath…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

O Ali! Hearken unto the call of what hath been and what shall be from this Hidden Name, which crieth out with the most exalted call between earth and heaven:

“Verily, there is none other God but I, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting!”

Rejoice thou in My joy in these days wherein tribulations have encompassed Me from every side. To this thy Lord, Who prevaileth over every witness and witnessed thing, doth testify.

Beware lest the affairs of the kingdom sadden thee. Be as thy Lord hath been. Be steadfast in the Cause with wisdom and utterance. Thus have We commanded thee before and in this Preserved Tablet. We have sent Our Name to various lands, wherefore We have revealed unto thee this Tablet that thine eyes may be solaced thereby and that thou mayest read it to those who have turned towards God, the Mighty, the Loving. We have indeed become aware of what thou hast borne in the path of God and have heard what thou hast mentioned amongst His servants. He, verily, is the Truth, the Knower of the unseen. Make mention of Me to My loved ones, then gather them together upon the Path of God, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.

BH07219: Say: Exalted, exalted be His sovereignty, for He hath…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Exalted, the Ancient of Days

Say: Exalted, exalted be His sovereignty, for He hath appeared with the truth after most of the servants turned away from Him and made Him a prisoner in this remote land. Exalted, exalted be His greatness, whereby He hath encompassed all who are in the horizons, and the intimations of those who have disbelieved in God, the Lord of the worlds, have not prevented it. Exalted, exalted be His generosity, for He hath seen that which no eye of creation hath seen, and hath shown patience despite His power that encompasseth all who are in the realm of invention. Therefore do all things testify that He is indeed the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful. Exalted, exalted be His dominion that hath encompassed all created things, and His mercy that hath preceded the worlds.

O thou who gazest upon the countenance! When thou hast attained unto the lights of the dawning-place of thy Lord’s revelation, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, say: Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of Names and Creator of heaven! I testify that Thou wert powerful over all things through Thy sovereignty that encompasseth all who are in the kingdom. Thus have We caused the choice wine of utterance to flow in the rivers of remembrance and exposition. Blessed is he who draweth nigh unto it and drinketh in the name of his Lord, the Mighty, the Bountiful.

BH07037: Praise be unto the Best Beloved of all creation…

In the name of the Peerless Friend

Praise be unto the Best Beloved of all creation, sanctified from all hint of utterance or explanation, Who of His all-encompassing mercy and perfect bounty guided thee to the shore of the Most Great Ocean and led thee into the presence of the Lord of Eternity. Count this favor as a precious gift and with complete detachment and attention speak forth in remembrance of the Creator of all things.

O servant Baqir! All the hardships thou didst endure on land and sea are remembered before the Divine Throne. In truth, whatsoever befalleth the loved ones of God in His path is a mercy from His presence upon those souls. All must be thankful in all conditions.

God willing, be thou content with the good-pleasure of thy Friend and act according to that which exalteth His Cause. This is the counsel of Truth which hath been and shall ever be the cause of the education and salvation of His creation. Blessed is he who hath heard what the Dove hath warbled and acted according to what his Lord, the Compassionate, the Forgiving, the Merciful, hath desired.

BH06927: Amin, if you wish details about that land: verily…

He is God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed

Amin, if you wish details about that land: verily the fly therein became as an eagle, therefore God cast him into the abyss, and likewise his kind—may God curse them. They corrupted and caused corruption to such a degree that after their destruction the Tongue of Grandeur proclaimed: “The All-Forgiving shall not forgive their burial places.” Although it is not known whether you will attain unto a Tablet in that land, yet out of pure bounty it is revealed in your name. We beseech God to assist you at all times and to confirm you in that which the Beauty of the All-Merciful has desired. There has befallen Us that which cannot be counted or mentioned. We had abandoned all and closed the door, yet despite this there occurred that which spread among the servants, and all rose up against Us with tyranny. Wherever you may be, be happy and rely upon God. We too are happy and reliant in all conditions, but if there was some way and hidden means could be arranged, it would be better to travel alone. And upon you be glory.

BH07178: God hath dawned forth from the horizon…

He is the Most Great, the Most Holy

God hath dawned forth from the horizon of the Prison upon thee, O thou who hast turned towards God, the Cleaver of the Dawn! Blessed is the soul that hath turned with his heart to the Dayspring of verses. Rejoice thou in that thou hast been mentioned before the Throne, and that which draweth thee nigh unto the Mighty, the Bestower hath been revealed unto thee.

Verily they who have turned away, these shall find no guide today. And they who have turned towards Him shall soon behold that which hath been ordained for them from the Revealer of verses.

We have adorned the heaven of utterance with the mention of Our wondrous Name, through which the great terror hath appeared amongst mankind. Verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the All-Compelling. Through it were shaken the pillars of idols, and the Evil One did lament, and leg was joined unto leg.

When We arrived at the Prison We desired to convey unto the kings the messages of their Lord, the Lord of all men, that they might know that tribulation hath not prevented God from exercising His sovereignty. He ordaineth as He pleaseth. He is verily the Mighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.

It behooveth every soul to remain steadfast in the Cause in such wise that affliction shall not hinder him from the remembrance of God, the Lord of all lords.

BH07088: My mention is a fire that ignites the hearts…

He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious

My mention is a fire that ignites the hearts of the sincere ones, and a light that illumines the faces of those drawn nigh. At times thou seest it as the waters of life upon which depends the life of all the worlds, and at times thou seest it in human form. Blessed be the All-Merciful Who hath sent it down with manifest authority.

Those who have disbelieved wished to extinguish this Light shining from the horizon of thy Lord’s will, the Most High, the Great. Nay, by My life! None can do this. Soon shalt thou witness its effects from all directions. Verily He is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth.

Say: After the ascension of the Point, We raised up the Cause. Verily He is the Almighty, the Powerful. Should they attempt to conceal its light on the continent, it will assuredly rear its head in the midmost heart of the ocean, and, raising its voice, proclaim: ʿI am the life-giver of the world!’ Neither the clouds nor the veils of those who have disbelieved in the Day of Judgment can prevent it.

Blessed is he who hath heard and hastened and found repose and soared. For all there is a portion in a preserved Tablet. Remember thy Lord and say: Praise be unto Thee for having mentioned me, O Thou Who art the Beloved of the hearts of them that know!

BH06992: O Fath-i-A’zam! May you ever be, through the loving-kindness…

In His Name, the Self-Subsisting!

O Fath-i-A’zam! May you ever be, through the loving-kindness of the Lord of nations, joyous and mindful of His remembrance. For some time the gates of utterance were sealed and the pathway cut off, until in these days a path became manifest. Therefore these words have shone forth from the Dayspring of the loving-kindness of the Lord of all beings and are sent forth, that you may discover from them the sweet savors of grace and mercy and be of them that are informed. Illumine the friends of God, both men and women, with the glorification of God, that perchance through the attraction and rapture of the Divine Word they may attain unto wondrous joy and sublime gladness, and, detached from all else, occupy themselves with the remembrance of the All-Merciful.

The letter Sin was for some days caught in the serpent’s mouth, but the All-Merciful delivered him through His sovereignty. He, verily, is the Almighty, the Powerful. We beseech God to assist through you His servants and to unlock before your heart’s face that which shall attract the hearts with a power greater than what He unlocked through His sovereignty aforetime. Verily, He is your Protector and Helper in this world and the next. There is none other God but Him, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

BH07260: This is what hath shone forth from the horizon…

This is what hath shone forth from the horizon of Will. All have been created to hearken unto the Word of God and to follow His Cause. That which the Truth hath commanded and commandeth is and shall be for the good of His servants.

Some among the people of the letter Nun, after hearing the word of prohibition from the Dayspring of Command, returned. Upon them be the glory of God and His praise. Likewise was there one who had been with Mulla Muhammad-ʿAli—after meeting with Amin and hearing the prohibition, he returned. Upon him be the glory of God and His good-pleasure.

O My Name! Convey to him greetings from the Wronged One. We beseech God to forgive him. Verily He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. Let him turn towards the prison, repentant, remorseful, humble and lowly, and after attaining the presence, let him return. Give him the glad-tidings of this manifest bounty. If he heareth what he hath been commanded, it shall be better for him. But that which was decreed hath been decreed. Verily He is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth.

BH06941: The Most Holy, the Most Glorious. Verily doth…

The Most Holy, the Most Glorious. Verily doth the Noble One make mention of His servant, the noble one, that he may rejoice in the remembrance of his Lord and be of the thankful.

Gather together thine affairs, then turn toward thy brother who attained unto the days of his Lord and was of those who turned to his Lord in the most ancient Dust. He is indeed in the Most Exalted Horizon. Blessed art thou and he in that ye have attained unto the Dayspring of the Cause. This is indeed a great bounty.

Turn with spirit and fragrance, then make mention of the chosen ones concerning what befell the Chosen One at the hands of His sinful servants. Thou didst enter the precincts of the Throne by permission of thy Lord. When the appointed time was fulfilled, We commanded thee to return that the hearts of those who have turned might be gladdened by thee.

Remind My loved ones on My behalf in such wise as to cause hearts and spirits to soar and to attract the minds of the seekers. Put thy trust in God. He is with thee and maketh mention of thee through His grace. He is verily the Mighty, the Generous.

It is as though thou wert present before the Throne, drinking at all times the choice wine of thy Lord’s love, the Most High, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Be thou thankful for this and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Beloved of the mystics.

BH07303: This is a Tablet from Us to him who…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Exalted

This is a Tablet from Us to him who hath believed in God, the Most High, the Most Great, that the attraction of the verses may seize him and render him detached from the allusions of such as have disbelieved in God, the Lord of all worlds.

O servant! Hearken unto the Call from the direction of Akka—verily there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise. He aideth whom He willeth through His sovereignty and chastiseth those who have denied the Day of Separation. Make mention of thy Lord amongst His servants. Beware lest anything prevent thee from God, the Possessor of creation. Verily He maketh mention of His servants and assisteth them in whatsoever He desireth. Thy Lord is, in truth, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

Be thou steadfast in the Cause in such wise that shouldst all who are on earth oppose thee, thou wouldst not turn toward them but say in that state: “The kingdom belongeth unto God, the One, the All-Compelling.” Thus have We inspired thee and revealed unto thee that whereby spirits take flight.

Be thou grateful unto thy Lord for having been mentioned by the Pen of the Command. Verily He maketh mention of whomsoever He pleaseth among His servants. There is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Powerful, the All-Knowing.

BH07290: This is a Book from Us to the handmaiden…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious

This is a Book from Us to the handmaiden of God, the wife of the Most Great Trustee, concerning she who hath believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, and hath sought her Lord when He came with manifest sovereignty. Were thou to gaze upon the Most Great Scene, thou wouldst behold the Lord of Destiny in the hands of those who disbelieved in God, the Mighty, the Beloved.

Despite all that hath befallen Him, His tongue speaketh in remembrance of God, His feet move toward the Intended One, His Pen moveth to mention Him, and with His finger He moveth the thread of existence. Remember thy Lord, O My handmaiden, with this remembrance that hath been remembered:

“O my God and my Beloved! I am a handmaiden among Thy handmaidens who hath turned unto Thee and believed in Thee after the servants turned away from Thee. O Lord! Inscribe me, then, among the people of the pavilion of Thy glory and the tents of Thy grandeur. Then make me one of those who circle round the throne of Thy majesty and turn with their hearts toward the court of Thy good-pleasure. Verily, Thou art the Self-Sufficient in every condition. Have mercy, then, upon Thy male and female servants and preserve them within the protection of Thy shelter and safekeeping. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the All-Wise.”

BH07289: The Most Holy, the Most Glorious! This…

The Most Holy, the Most Glorious! This is a Book from the presence of One mighty and generous unto him who hath believed in God, the Single, the All-Informed, that the wine of utterance may so intoxicate him that he will speak in remembrance of his Lord, the All-Merciful, detached from all who dwell on earth.

O ʿInayat! The loving-kindness of God hath embraced thee, inasmuch as thy name hath flowed from the Most Exalted Pen and this luminous and lofty Tablet hath been revealed for thee. Give thanks unto thy Lord for this most great favor and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who art the Beloved of all in the heavens and on earth. I beseech Thee by Thy Most Glorious Name, through which the daysprings of self and passion were shaken, to aid me to make mention of Thee and to praise Thee amongst Thy servants, and to ordain for me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy near ones.

Verily, thy letter was present before the Throne in the Most Great Prison. Thus hath been decreed for thee in the Tablet an honorable station. Rejoice thou in that thou hast been mentioned before the Countenance. Thy Lord, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

Whoso desireth Him, verily He remembereth him and calleth him at all times, and summoneth all who are in the worlds unto His straight and manifest path. And glory be upon thee and upon the sincere ones.

BH06987: In the Name of the One Friend! O Khavar!…

In the Name of the One Friend! O Khavar! The wine of divine mercy is flowing from the spring of grace, and He Who bestows and lavishes it is that Countenance of the All-Merciful. Blessed is the soul who has drunk this spiritual wine from the hand of the eternal Cup-bearer. Praise thou the Beloved of the worlds, that thou hast attained to His love and art engaged in His remembrance.

Thy letter was present before Me, and the most luminous eye beheld it, and whatsoever was inscribed therein was noted. Therefore did the Sun of the Most Glorious Horizon shine forth upon thee from behind the clouds of tribulation with these wondrous words and exalted verses. Know thou their value and render thanks for this supreme bounty.

These are the days of steadfastness. All must be so firm that the contingent happenings of the world shall not debar them from the divine sanctuary.

Convey on behalf of the True One My greetings to Ali and his wife. We beseech God to aid him and her to arise to serve His Cause and to remember Him amongst His creatures. Verily He is the Protector of those who love Him and the Lord of the worlds.

May the glory of God rest upon you all from His presence, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the Most Praised.

BH07124: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest how…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest how Thy loved ones are consumed in their separation from Thee, and how they wander in the wilderness of remoteness, yearning to attain Thy presence and seeking to draw nigh unto Thee. I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which all things have drawn near unto the seat of Thy Command, the Source of Thy Revelation and the Dawning-Place of Thy signs, to write down for them that which will gladden their hearts and tranquilize their souls through Thy grace and Thy favors. O Lord! Thou hearest the sighing of their hearts and the groaning of their souls. Take them by the hands of Thy bounty, then cause them to enter the pavilion of reunion at the shining forth of the lights of Thy countenance.

O Lord! Thou art the Generous One, Whose generosity hath encompassed all things, and Thou art He Whose mercy hath preceded all who are in earth and heaven. Look upon them, then, with the glances of Thy loving-kindness, and make them to be among those who circle round the sanctuary of Thy oneness and who stand before the revelation of the lights of Thy face. Verily, Thou art the Powerful in Thy sovereignty, and the All-Compelling in Thy might. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.

BH07407: O Supreme Pen! Make mention of Thy handmaiden who…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O Supreme Pen! Make mention of Thy handmaiden who hath believed in Thee and turned unto Thee, that she may be drawn by that which hath flowed from Thee from the presence of the Mighty, the Bestower. Give thanks unto God for having been mentioned by the Supreme Pen, and We have sent unto thee this Tablet which God hath made the Dayspring of His loving-kindness throughout creation.

Put thy trust in God under all conditions, then make mention of Him with joy and radiance. Say: O my God, my Lord, and my Desire! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which were opened the doors of hearts to the recognition of the Manifestation of Thy Self, the Dawning-Place of Thy verses, and the Dayspring of Thy Revelation, that Thou make me among those handmaidens who have believed in Thee and attained unto Thy presence and stood before the effulgences of the lights of Thy beauty and heard Thy most sweet call when Thou wert speaking forth Thy verses in the kingdom of creation.

O Lord! I am one of Thy handmaidens who hath turned toward the court of Thy grace and bounty. Leave me not among those who have turned away from Thy beauty in Thy days. Then send down upon me, O my God, that which shall profit me in this world and the next. Verily Thou art the Forgiving, the Giving, the Bountiful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH06943: O My handmaidens! Ye were created to show forth…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Ancient

O My handmaidens! Ye were created to show forth purity. Hold fast unto it through My transcendent command over all things, for I am the Forgiving, the Commanding, the Bountiful. Thus shall the sanctity of My Cause be made manifest among My male and female servants. This behooveth you in the days of God, the Mighty, the Praised.

God hath ordained for every handmaiden who hath turned to His countenance that which no mind can conceive, for He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Soar in the atmosphere of the love of your Lord, the Almighty, the Powerful. Blessed art thou for having believed in God on a day whereon the hearts of those who hesitated in this Cause were troubled—this Cause through which the Dove warbled and the tongue of all things spoke: “Glory be to God, the Mighty, the Beautiful!”

Grieve not at the world and its hardships. All shall pass away and sovereignty shall remain with God, the Lord of the worlds. Recognize thou the value of these days, then remember thy Lord at all times. Verily, He is with whoso remembereth Him, and He is the Guardian of them that remember. Thus have We addressed thee and sent down unto thee clear verses that they may attract thee to the Kingdom of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Inaccessible.

BH07008: At the time of departure from home and spouse…

At the time of departure from home and spouse, it is incumbent upon every soul to set an appointed time for the journey, and whatever time is set shall be binding and effective. If one returns at the appointed time, then verily he hath fulfilled his promise and followed the command of his Lord. If one does not return at the appointed time due to a specific excuse—that is, if some obstacle prevents return such that one is truly impeded—then one must send word and strive with utmost effort to return. If one does not return at the appointed time and sends no word, then the spouse must wait nine months, after which, if she wishes to take another husband, there is no objection. The maintenance of the spouse during this appointed period must be provided. If a person travels and news of his death or martyrdom arrives, confirmation of this matter depends on widespread report or two just witnesses. After confirmation and the passing of nine months, the spouse may take another husband.

As for the matter of marriage in the Land of Mystery, a detailed explanation hath been revealed. The essence of that pronouncement is that it dependeth firstly on the consent of both parties and secondly on the knowledge of the parents. Thus hath the matter been decreed by the Most Exalted Pen. Verily, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful….

BH07051: The remembrance of God hath been raised…

In the Name of God, the Most Ancient, the Most Glorious

The remembrance of God hath been raised from the Divine Lote-Tree in truth. Blessed is he who hath turned unto Him and heard what the Tongue of Power and Majesty hath uttered. They who have cast the command of God behind their backs are they who have violated the Covenant. Do people see that which profiteth them this day? Nay, by the Lord of all beings, unless they cast away what they possess and turn with humility and contrition unto His countenance. Say: He Whom ye invoke hath come in truth and hath rent asunder the veils. Turn ye with your hearts to the spot wherein the lights have shone forth. O people! Answer the call of God that is raised amongst you.

Beware lest ye follow every idolatrous infidel who hath disbelieved in God, the Lord of the Day of Judgment. They who turned away have lost, and they who believed have won. God shall soon make manifest that which eyes have been prevented from seeing. Be thou thankful unto God for what We have cast upon thee that by which hearts are assured and spirits take flight. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having caused my name to flow from the Most Exalted Pen after the idolaters had imprisoned it in the most desolate of lands.

BH07112: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest how…

In His Name, Who abideth after the passing of all things!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest how the heaven loveth its stars and their radiance from its horizons, and how the Ridvan Garden loveth its flowers and the murmuring of its waters and the cooing of its dove. I beseech Thee, O Creator of all things and Controller of all names, to cause its branches to be stirred by the breezes of Thy grace in Thy days, and to be moved by Thy leave and Thy decree.

O Lord! Withhold not from the letters of Thy Book the Word which Thou hast made the mother of Thy Scriptures and Tablets and the source of the manifestations of Thy Divinity and might, through which Thou didst separate between Thy creation and Thy creatures.

O Lord! Draw then the branches of the Tree of Thy oneness by the wondrous melodies of Thy voice, then make them to drink of the choice wine of Thy bounty, whose seal hath been broken by the finger of Thy power, that they may arise to celebrate Thy praise and glory, and circle round Thy Cause in all the worlds of Thy worlds.

Verily, Thou art He Who doeth what He pleaseth through Thy sovereignty, and ordaineth what He willeth through Thy might. Nothing whatsoever can withhold Thee from aught else, nor can any affair occupy Thee to the exclusion of another. There is no God but Thee, the Powerful, the All-Known, the Mighty, the Generous.

BH07118: He is the Giver! Glorified art Thou, O my…

He is the Giver! Glorified art Thou, O my God! Praise be unto Thee for having enabled me to recognize the Manifestation of Thy Self and the Dayspring of Thy Cause, and for having turned me toward the Kawthar of Thy Revelation and the Salsabil of Thy inspiration. By Thy glory! Were I to render Thee thanks throughout the duration of Thy Kingdom and Thy dominion, I would find myself powerless to repay that wherewith Thou hast favored me through Thy grace and bounty.

Thou art He Who caused me to turn unto Thy countenance on a day when all had turned away from Thee and remained distant from the shore of Thy nearness, save those whom Thou didst show the pathways of Thy sanctification and the ways of Thy guidance.

O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which earthquakes have seized most of the servants, to make me so fixed in my gaze upon Thee in all conditions that nothing may prevent me from that which hath been ordained by the Pen of Thy decree and sent down in the scrolls of Thy glory.

O Lord! Make my hope Thy remembrance, my deed Thy praise, my purpose Thy purpose, and my good-pleasure Thy good-pleasure, that I may be effaced from myself and endure through Thy Name, the Ever-Abiding, the Everlasting, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

Then write down for me, O my God, that which shall profit me, for I know nothing and Thou art verily the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

BH07174: He is the Beloved! God has gladdened your eyes…

He is the Beloved! God has gladdened your eyes through having chosen you for His remembrance and singled you out for His service and related you to His Self, the One Who oversees all who are in the heavens and on earth. We have often detected from you the sweet fragrances of the love of your Lord, the All-Merciful. Blessed are you and those who love you for the sake of God, your Lord and the Lord of all worlds.

By My life! You stand in the presence of your Lord. We bear witness that you are among those who stand before the Throne. Bear witness to that which God has witnessed and be of those who acknowledge. We often make mention of you. We beseech God to enable you to serve Him under all conditions and to aid you to do what He loves and is pleased with. He is with His sincere servants.

You have attained to that which most of creation has not attained, and achieved that which the hands of the mystics could not reach. By My life! This suffices you, and it is among the gems of your Lord’s bestowals. Prostrate yourself and be of the thankful ones.

What you sent has arrived and We have adorned your book with it, first that you might rejoice in the grace of your Ancient Lord. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

BH07221: Say: This is not the day of hopes. Burn…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Ancient

Say: This is not the day of hopes. Burn them with the fire of Beauty. Thus does the Self-Sufficient, the Most High, command you. Cast questions behind you, advancing toward the sanctuary of reunion. This has been ordained for hearts, O people of understanding.

It behooveth everyone today who hath heard the Call to say “Here am I, O Lord of the Day of Reckoning!” Blessed is he who is content with what God hath decreed in the Book. More hath been written for you than what ye desired—to this beareth witness the Pen through which the Ark moved and the celestial spheres revolved.

Doth the world sadden you after it hath testified to its own evanescence by what befalleth it of decline in every moment? Cast it behind you, advancing with your hearts toward the direction of the Beloved. Thus have ye been commanded by Him Who revealeth the verses.

When the path of the foot was barred, We opened the doors and ways of hearts—hasten ye thereto, O people of vision!

O My loved ones! Upon you be My glory, inasmuch as ye have stood firm and advanced toward the Mighty, the All-Bestowing. Thus have We sent down the verses unto thee that thou mayest rejoice and give thanks unto thy Lord at all times.

BH07282: The Most Great, Most Wondrous

The Most Great, Most Wondrous

This is a remembrance from Us to him who hath turned towards the Qiblih of all horizons, that the verses of his Lord might attract him and draw him nigh unto the Dayspring of lights. O servant! Hearken unto that which is revealed unto thee from the precincts of the Prison. There is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting. Be thou steadfast in the love of God, then remember Him at morn and eventide. Beware lest anything prevent thee from turning toward the Dawning-Place of Revelation. Leave behind all creation, for the All-Merciful hath come with power and sovereignty. Blessed art thou, inasmuch as thy remembrance hath been mentioned before the Countenance, and thy name hath flowed from the Pen of Revelation while it was in the Prison, in the hands of the wicked ones.

Grieve thou not over anything, for he who hath attained unto this Cause is accounted amongst the most exalted of beings in the sight of God, the Most High. Unite, O loved ones of God! Through this the Cause is made manifest and the back of every proud oppressor is broken. Hold fast unto the cord of God, for verily He hath appeared in the temple of man. Blessed be the All-Merciful, through Whom the faces of those who disbelieved were darkened, and the faces of the righteous were illumined.

BH07353: The Most Holy, the Most Glorious! O thou who…

The Most Holy, the Most Glorious! O thou who art present before the Throne and who gazest upon the Dayspring of the verses of thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise! Give thanks for having turned thy face toward the countenance of thy Lord and for being among the successful ones.

Beware lest sorrows prevent thee from that which hath been ordained by the Dawning-Place of certitude. Hold fast unto the cord of independence, then be steadfast in that which thy Lord, the Mighty, the Powerful, commandeth thee. All excellence lieth in following the Dayspring of justice—to this doth the Tongue of thy Lord, the Speaker, the True, the Faithful, the All-Informed, bear witness.

Occupy thyself outwardly with that which profiteth thee, and inwardly with My remembrance, the Mighty, the Wondrous. We have ordained the pursuit of a profession for every soul—thus hath the matter been decreed in a preserved Tablet.

Grieve not, verily thy Lord is with thee under all conditions. He, verily, is the All-Forgiving, the Bountiful. Rejoice in the glad-tidings of thy Lord, then recite what hath been sent down unto thee of the verses which the peoples of the world are powerless to enumerate.

Be with My loved ones as thou hast been—thus hath shone forth the sun of permission from this luminous horizon. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!

BH07876: This is a preserved Tablet sent down from God…

He is Most Great, Most Glorious

This is a preserved Tablet sent down from God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. Within it flows the water of life—verily it is a sealed nectar. When the promise comes, We shall break its seal with the fingers of thy Lord’s power, the Mighty, the Loving. Those who drink thereof are the successful ones, and those who deny it see not. Is hesitation befitting after all things have been stirred by God’s breath? Is turning away proper after all existence has turned toward the Mighty, the Renowned? Say: The Kingdom itself proclaims “The Desired One has come!” and the Realm of Might circles round the Throne, yet most people deny. They behold God’s power, then deny it—truly they are as dead. All tablets have been illumined from this Lamp which has shed its radiance upon earth and heaven. Blessed are they who reflect. Ponder the verses of thy Lord which have been sent down in the Tablets, that thou mayest comprehend what God has intended in this Revelation. Adopt My characteristics, that there might appear from thee that which shall awaken those who slumber.

BH07480: Hear thou the call of the All-Glorious…

He is the Most Pure, the Most Glorious

Hear thou the call of the All-Glorious from a dark pit:

“Aid Me, O people of Baha, with the sword of wisdom and utterance!”

Say: The pit is My house, and the prison is My palace, and tribulation is the crown of Baha. Know this, O ye who are endowed with insight! From the horizon of abasement hath shone forth the Sun of My Name, the All-Glorious. Behold, O people of the Heights! God hath made the pit a palace of ruby, wherein the Temple of the Manifestation hath been established with power and sovereignty. We have forsaken palaces and chosen the most desolate of houses, adorning it with the ornaments of the Kingdom. Exalted is this palace which God hath made the Manifestation of Destiny and the Greatest Scene, wherein the Ancient One hath been established upon the throne of His Great Name with majesty and glory.

O thou who hast turned towards Me, when thou hast drunk the choice wine which hath flowed from the Pen of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, say:

“Praise be unto Thee, O Creator of the worlds, for having remembered me in the prison when I was in the hands of the wicked ones!”

BH07748: The Supreme Pen hath testified concerning the people…

In the Name of Him Who is the Most Exalted above all who are in earth and heaven!

The Supreme Pen hath testified concerning the people of Baha that they are of the company of the Crimson Ark which hath been mentioned in the Tablets from God, the Cleaver of the Dawn. Blessed is he who is adorned with this robe which, by My life, shall never wear out but shall endure as long as God, the Almighty, the All-Chosen, and the Ancient of Days, endureth. Through you hath the countenance of the world been illumined, and what is required of you is steadfastness in My love and My Cause, while what is incumbent upon Me transcendeth all thoughts. Be ye as behoveth this station. Thus doth the Lord of all beings command you.

Man is he who hath known the All-Merciful, and whoso is deprived thereof is accounted in the Mother Book as more abject than the brute. How many an ascetic hath remained remote from attaining His presence, and how many hath deprived himself of drinking the wine of reunion. Thus doth God do what He pleaseth through His sovereignty. He, verily, is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth.

BH07863: This is a Book known by the One Who…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

This is a Book known by the One Who Subsisteth to him who hath believed in God, the Mighty, the All-Loving.

O people! Answer Him Who summoneth you unto God, the Lord Supreme, the Self-Subsisting. Nothing whatsoever deterreth Him from God, the Lord of what was and what shall be. He calleth the peoples unto God, the Sovereign of eternity, though the kings oppose Him. Blessed is the king who hath attained unto this Day and hath cast away kingship, turning unto the Kingdom. By My life! He is, in the sight of the Truth, the Knower of things unseen, among the most exalted of all created things.

Aid ye your Lord through utterance. Beware lest veils and allusions hold you back from this straight Path. Grieve not over the world and what transpireth therein. It shall pass away more swiftly than a moment, and that which hath been ordained by God, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved, shall endure. Be thou steadfast in the Cause in such wise that the denial of them that are veiled shall not deter thee, and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who art the God of the seen and the unseen!

BH07676: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou hearest…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Great!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou hearest the lamentation of Thy servants and the cries of Thy loved ones, and beholdest them in the hands of those who have denied Thy signs, turned away from Thy countenance, kept far from Thy nearness, and rejected Thy manifestation in the Manifestation of Thyself and the dawning of Thy light from the Dayspring of Thy oneness. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by the Word through which the tongue of Thy Command hath spoken in praise of Thyself, and through which the sweet savors of Thy bounty have wafted among Thy creatures, to ordain for Thy chosen ones that which will solace their eyes, tranquilize their souls, and cause their spirits to soar in the atmosphere of Thy knowledge. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful. O my Lord! Thou seest that the Dawning-Place of Thy signs in this Prison maketh mention of one of Thy handmaidens, and this is due solely to her having turned toward the direction of Thy bestowals. O my Lord! Aid her to stand firm in the Most Great Steadfastness. Thou, verily, ordainest whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the All-Praised.

BH07481: Hearken thou unto My call from the horizon…

He is the Glory of Glories!

Hearken thou unto My call from the horizon of My prison in the midst of Mine adversaries: “Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Bountiful”. He hath truly hearkened unto the divine verses who ariseth to perform that which befitteth him. Many are the souls who have listened, but are not accounted by the Almighty as having heard. True listening consisteth in man’s first perceiving with the ear of his spirit the call of the All-Merciful, and then remaining so steadfast in observing the divine precept and command that were he to witness from the peoples of the world naught save denial, enmity, and rejection, he would in no wise be deflected from walking in the Straight Path of God. Well is it with them that attain!

O maidservant of God! Render thanks unto the One Beloved for having adorned thee with the wondrous ornament of His remembrance, and for having assisted thee to recognize the Supernal Beauty. Please God, thou wilt, through His bestowal, be illumined in these days of the All-Glorious by the effulgence of His countenance, and rejoice at that to which thou hast attained.

The Glory of God rest upon you, O ye My maidservants.

BH07883: This is the Tablet of Ridvan which We have…

He is Most Holy, Most Glorious

This is the Tablet of Ridvan which We have sent unto thee that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord at eventide and at dawn. Follow thou the ways and paths of God as revealed in the Tablets. Let nothing hinder thee from what God, the Lord of all men, hath purposed. It behooveth every soul to make his desire that which his Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower, hath desired.

Those who follow vain imaginings are in doubt and hypocrisy. Blessed is the strong one who hath rent asunder the veils and cast behind him idle fancies. Say: This is the Sun of certitude which hath dawned from the manifest horizon. After its rising, is doubt befitting? Nay, by Him Who raineth down from the clouds! Those who have doubted are encompassed by veils. Soon shall they lament over themselves and say:

“Woe unto us for what we have neglected towards God, the Revealer of verses!”

Give thanks unto thy Lord for having been mentioned before the Throne and for having attained the Tablet of thy Lord while it was in the hands of the wicked ones.

BH07872: This Tablet is from the presence of the Qayyum…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

This Tablet is from the presence of the Qayyum unto them that have believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, that the wine of divine knowledge may draw them to itself in the days of the All-Merciful and cause them to speak forth His mention amidst the concourse of all worlds. Well is it with the people who understand.

It behooveth every soul to be eloquent in the praise of his Lord and to make mention of this Remembrance through which the faces of them that have turned unto God, the Mighty, the Well-Beloved, have been illumined.

Grieve thou not over anything. Verily thy Lord is with them that have turned unto His Countenance. Soon shall they find themselves in the most exalted station, a station that is praiseworthy indeed.

Despair not of the Spirit of God and His mercy. He, verily, aideth whom He willeth through a sovereignty from His presence. He, verily, is the Truth, the Knower of things unseen.

When thou findest the sweetness of remembrance, turn thy face toward God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. Say: Unto Thee be glory and praise, O Thou Who art imprisoned! Thou art He at Whose afflictions the dwellers of the cities of Paradise have wept, and the honored servants of God have been sorely troubled.

BH07504: O Ramadan! Know thou that this name was derived…

He is the Most Wondrous, the Most Glorious!

O Ramadan! Know thou that this name was derived from burning heat, for thus did We ordain. Therefore, it behooveth thee that thy thirst in My love be such that the oceans of the world cannot quench it.

When thou art enkindled with this fire and hearest the call of thy Chosen Lord, arise amidst the servants in such wise that through thy uprising all who are on earth shall arise to serve thy Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. This beseemeth thee and whosoever holdeth fast to this Great Name.

Say: The Promised One hath come, the Intended One hath appeared, and the proof hath been perfected, O heedless ones! Be thou of radiant countenance in the Cause of thy Lord, such that the cawing of the false ones who claim that which God hath not permitted them—these verily are the fabricators—shall not cause thee to waver.

Bear thou witness even as God hath testified that He is the Single One, the One, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Rejoice thou in that thou hast been mentioned before the Throne and this wondrous Tablet hath been revealed for thee.

BH07796: The pen declareth: O handmaid of God! Praise be…

In the Name of the Friend

The pen declareth: O handmaid of God! Praise be to the Lord of nations that thou hast drunk the wine of recognition from the hand of the favors of the Most Great Name and art mentioned by His name among the handmaidens.

Let not the opposition of certain heedless souls sadden thee. Ere long shall the standards of the divine Cause be seen raised throughout all regions. On that day the tongues of all who dwell on earth shall speak forth in praise and glorification of those accepted souls who have today turned toward the court of the divine oneness, and with utmost remorse shall they make mention of these days.

Be thou occupied with the remembrance of God and be heedless of creation and all that pertaineth unto it. Drink thou the wine of the remembrance of the Beloved of the world and the King of days, in the nights and in the days. This wine of oneness increaseth consciousness and bestoweth existence and eternal life. He, verily, is the Bestower, the Munificent, the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH07901: The Most Great, the Most Glorious. O My handmaiden!…

The Most Great, the Most Glorious. O My handmaiden! Remember thy Lord with this Most Great Remembrance.

Praise be unto Thee, O my God, my Lord and the Beloved of my heart, for having caused me to know Thee and for having turned me toward the sanctuary of Thy bestowals and given me to drink from the cup of Thy mercy and bounty, after I had been veiled from Thy beauty and far removed from the gardens of nearness unto Thee.

O Lord! I am one of Thy handmaidens who hath raised her hands toward the heaven of Thy gifts and turned with her heart to the sanctuary of Thy favors. I beseech Thee by Thy Name, He Who bore every affliction in Thy path and imprisoned Himself to manifest Thy Cause and exalt Thy sovereignty among the people of Thy realm, to make me one of the pure ones who have been set ablaze by the fire of Thy love and whose hearts have been consumed by the heat of Thy remembrance.

O Lord! Give me to drink, by the hand of Thy bounty, from Thy Most Great Ocean, by virtue of which whosoever partaketh thereof ariseth to sacrifice his spirit in Thy love and hasteneth to the field of martyrdom in his longing to attain Thy presence. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Wise.

BH07507: O ʿAli-Akbar! The Prisoner calls you from the Most…

In His Name, the One with power over all things!

O ʿAli-Akbar! The Prisoner calls you from the Most Great Horizon and summons you to God, the Lord of Names. Grieve not over anything. Be a servant of your Lord’s Cause and one who speaks His praise in the evening and at dawn. He remembers whom He wishes through His sovereignty and aids those who have turned to His countenance with a power that none in all creation can frustrate.

Blessed is the soul that has held fast to the cord of the Cause and the heart that has turned to the Dawning-Place of splendor. Can anything prevent Him from what He desires? No, by His Will that has encompassed all horizons! Be attracted by the breezes of revelation and stand firm in such wise that bodies tremble therefrom. Thus has the ocean of favors surged and the winds of your Lord’s mercy, the Mighty, the Bountiful, have stirred. God has forgiven your parents who have ascended unto Him. He is verily the Giver, the Most High, the Mighty, the Forgiving. They have attained unto the everlasting bounties in the Garden of Abha and have been united with the Most Great Sea in the most exalted station.

BH07859: This is a mention from Us to him who…

He is the Most Wondrous, the Most Glorious

This is a mention from Us to him who heard the Call and said “Yea, O Lord of all beings!” Blessed is he who answered his Lord when He appeared from the horizon of the Command with the sovereignty of grandeur and majesty. The mountains have been scattered, and We see the people struck down from fear of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Compelling. Soon shall the believers behold the banners of victory, and the ungodly be in severe distress and agitation. Verily those who are heedless are in doubt and hypocrisy, and those who believe are in passionate attraction. Leave the mention of those on earth and hold fast to this Mention through which the clear proofs have shone forth. Thus doth thy Lord command thee while imprisoned in the most desolate of lands. Grieve not at anything, but trust at all times in thy Lord, the All-Merciful. He aideth whomsoever He willeth through the hosts of the unseen. He is indeed the One, the Helper. Be thou grateful that thou hast been mentioned before the Throne. He is indeed the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.

BH07690: Glory be unto Thee, O Thou Who hearest…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

Glory be unto Thee, O Thou Who hearest the cry of the oppressed in Thy days and the sighing of the lovers in their separation and remoteness from Thee! I beseech Thee by the breathings of Thy verses, whereby all things were stirred and the Kingdom of Names was adorned, to ordain for everyone who hath turned towards Thee that which beseemeth the loftiness of Thy sovereignty and the sublimity of Thy power.

O Lord! Aid Thy male and female servants to remain steadfast in Thy love, and write down for them that which Thou hast written for Thy chosen ones who have desired naught except what Thou didst desire for them and have willed naught save what Thou hadst ordained for them.

O Lord! Thy generosity hath preceded all who are in existence and Thy mercy hath encompassed all who dwell in the realm of the seen and the unseen. Deprive not Thy servants of the ocean that hath appeared through Thy favors and surgeth through Thy gifts. Aid them to draw nigh unto Thee, detached from all else besides Thee.

Thou art He in Whose grasp is the reins of ordainment and in Whose right hand is the kingdom of destiny. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Powerful.

BH07771: Every soul hath been promised this perspicuous Book. Yet…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Ancient

Every soul hath been promised this perspicuous Book. Yet when it was sent down in truth, every heedless one who was far removed turned away from it. Among the people were those who said “He has fabricated a lie against God,” and among them were those who said “He has appeared before the appointed time.” Thus did their souls delude them, and they were among the most lost. Say: This is the Cause through which God’s Command has been manifested throughout the ages, and this verily is His firm and impregnable wisdom. Whosoever clings to idle fancy, turning away from guidance, is truly among the perished ones. Say: The ocean lies before your faces—draw near to it and be not among the heedless ones. The Ancient Beauty hovers above your heads, calling you to God, if you be of them that hear. O people! Deprive not yourselves in these days of God. Arise to assist your Ancient Lord. He desires naught save to mention you for the sake of God—to this testifies every fair-minded and perceiving one. Thus have the verses been sent down and dispatched to you, that you might be among the thankful ones.

BH07500: O Jud [Javad]! Upon thee be the bounty…

O Jud [Javad]! Upon thee be the bounty of God and His grace, and the favor of God and His mercy! Be thou assured and be of the thankful ones. Thou art he to whom the Supreme Pen hath borne witness from before the Lord of Names and the Creator of heaven. Thou hast endured exile and sorrows in the path of the All-Merciful. We beseech God to aid thee to attain unto such steadfastness as will cause the mountain of misbelief to be leveled thereby and the hearts of those who have disbelieved in God, the Mighty, the Great, to be thunderstruck. We have concealed from thee what hath befallen Us in this land, lest thy heart be grieved thereby and thy inner being be saddened. And what thou hast seen of the Tablets is but little, very little. Trust in Him in all matters, then occupy thyself with that which thou hast been commanded. He is the Protector of whosoever turneth unto Him. He is with His sincere servants. The splendor which hath shone forth from the horizon of the Most Glorious be upon thee, O thou who gazeth toward the direction of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bountiful.

BH07561: O leaf! God willing, mayest thou be ever fresh…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O leaf! God willing, mayest thou be ever fresh and verdant through the breezes of the mercy of the All-Merciful.

Thy letter was presented before the Countenance, but signs of grief were evident from it. These are not days of grief—be thou engaged in the remembrance of the All-Merciful with the utmost joy and fragrance. Forget not the divine counsels which thou didst hear face to face from the tongue of the Most Great Oneness, and speak not that which would cause the hearts of the servants to be consumed. Remember what God hath permitted thee, and mention not that which would sadden the hearts of them that have recognized Him.

Say: O handmaidens of God! This is the day of sanctification and detachment. Keep yourselves preserved beneath the shade of the Divine Lote-Tree from selfish desires. We desire for you naught save that which will draw you nigh unto God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.

Grieve thou not over anything. Put thy trust in God, thy Lord and the Lord of all the worlds. Convey Our greetings to the faces of those handmaidens who have believed in God and turned away from those who have denied the Lord of the Day of Judgment.

BH07681: Glory be unto Thee, O my God, my Beloved…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious

Glory be unto Thee, O my God, my Beloved, and my Master! Thou seest how the Eye of Baha gazeth toward the horizon of Thy mercy and Thy loving-kindness, and his hand is raised unto the heaven of Thy bounty and Thy gifts, and his foot standeth firm in Thy Cause and in establishing Thy truth in Thy kingdom, and his tears flow forth by reason of what hath befallen him at the hands of the enemies of Thy Self and the oppressors among Thy creatures, and his sighs are raised up by what he hath witnessed and seen from those who have denied Thy signs. O Lord! Thou beholdest him a stranger in Thy lands, and a captive in Thy countries, and imprisoned among the idolaters.

I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued the Pens, and the breezes of Thy mercy have wafted among all creation, and through which Thou hast caused the lovers to soar in the atmosphere of Thy nearness and Thy favors, and hast given the believers to drink of the Kawthar of Thy grace and Thy gifts, that Thou mayest send down upon Thy loved ones that which will tranquilize their hearts and illumine their faces.

Verily, Thou art the Mighty, the Exalted, the Glorious, the All-Wise.

BH07454: I testify, O my God, to that whereunto Thy…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Most Great, the All-Powerful

I testify, O my God, to that whereunto Thy Self hath testified, that Thou art God and that there is none other God but Thee. From time immemorial Thou hast been in the heights of grandeur and exaltation with naught existing beside Thee, and unto eternity Thou shalt continue to be in the sublimity of might and sovereignty with nothing present before Thee. The atoms bear witness to Thy oneness, and all created things to Thy unity. Nothing can withstand what Thou hast willed by Thy sovereignty, nor can any matter render Thee powerless in Thy grandeur and might. Thou art the Self-Sufficient while all else are destitute at the door of Thy bounty and feeble before the manifestations of Thy power. I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast manifested Thy Cause amongst Thy creatures, that Thou aid Thy servants to draw nigh unto the ocean of Thy grace and bounty, and withhold them not from the expressions of Thy Lordship and the evidences of Thy favors in Thy lands. Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Doer of whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Most Exalted, the Almighty, the All-Bountiful.

BH07487: The All-Glorious, the Most Pure

The All-Glorious, the Most Pure.

Verily, he who is prevented today from the Ark of My Name, the Self-Subsisting, is assuredly among those who are drowned. And for drowning there are diverse degrees: Among the people are those who are drowned in their hopes, and among them those in vain imaginings, and among them those in desire, and among them those in knowledge, and among them those in deeds. Thus doth the All-Knowing, the All-Informed, teach you. Verily, he who is prevented by his deeds from attaining his ultimate end is among the perished ones, for deeds are not accepted except through turning towards God. Whoso turneth towards Him, verily he hath performed what God hath desired, and whoso turneth away is among those who have forsaken Him.

And he who is prevented by his knowledge from the One known is among the ignorant ones. The All-Merciful beareth witness that he is drowned therein, and it profiteth him not on the Day of God, and he is among the abased ones. Blessed is the learned one who acteth according to what is commanded in the Book and attaineth unto the ocean of knowledge—verily, he is of the essence of creation before God, the Exalted, the Great. We have set forth in detail in the Tablet what We desired as a mercy from Us upon thee, that thou mayest be among the thankful ones.

BH07583: The Most Great, the Most Glorious. The verses are…

The Most Great, the Most Glorious. The verses are sent down from the presence of One mighty, wise. Verily it is the Lamp of God amidst all else. Turn unto it with your hearts, O ye who have advanced towards God.

Say: Verily these verses are sealed in this Most Holy, this mighty Manifestation. Whoso claimeth revelation after Him hath indeed lied against the Lord of Baha and this mighty Throne.

O people, dispute not concerning the Cause; rather gather ye upon the shore of this manifest ocean. Those whom heedlessness hath overtaken after the appearance of the Call are accounted among the heedless ones.

O servant, awaken those who slumber by this Name which God hath made to be sovereign over all who are in the heavens and on earth. Whoso hesitateth today regarding My Name, the Self-Subsisting, is indeed among the disappointed ones.

Say: Through Him the hidden was revealed and the treasured appeared, and the sealed wine was unsealed. Drink ye in the name of your Lord, the Most High, the Most Great.

Thus have We sent down the verses unto thee as a grace from the presence of One knowing, powerful. Convey Our glorification unto thy family and give them the glad tidings of their Lord, the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH07642: The Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious! Glorified be…

The Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious! Glorified be He Who hath appeared with the truth with a sovereignty that was witnessed by all the worlds. Verily He speaketh in all things: “There is none other God but Me!” Thus was the Command inscribed in the Tablet.

When the spheres of thy Lord’s will were set in motion and the Beloved appeared, he who was deprived of fairness turned away from Him. By My life! Everyone possessed of the sense of smell hath found the fragrance of the All-Merciful, and everyone possessed of hearing hath heard His Call which was raised in truth.

O My loved ones! Stand firm in the Cause with such steadfastness as will cause the hearts of them that have denied God and His signs, which were sent down from the heaven of revelation, to quake.

Blessed is he who hath arisen amidst all contingent beings and, in the name of his Lord, the All-Merciful, hath taken the living waters and given to drink the crimson wine unto them that have recognized the unity of God from among the people of Baha, and unto the sincere ones from the drops that have trickled from the ocean of the will of the Lord of Names. Thus have We adorned the horizon of utterance with a luminary that was visible in the days of God.

BH07646: Glorified be He Who sendeth down the verses unto…

In His Name Who abideth after the passing of all things!

Glorified be He Who sendeth down the verses unto people who understand. Verily there is no God but Him. His is the creation and the command, and all are submissive unto Him. Hearken thou to the Call from the Divine Lote-Tree, that it may draw thee to a station wherein thou shalt testify with thy heart and tongue that there is no God but Him, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting. This is a Cause before which necks have bowed down in submission, and a Manifestation before Whose countenance the Daysprings of Revelation, in what was and what shall be, have prostrated themselves. This is a glory that no abasement can approach, even shouldst thou behold it imprisoned in this mighty fortress. Verily this glory of God hath shone forth from the horizon of the prison with such sovereignty that before it can stand neither the hosts of creation nor the might of any rejected oppressor. Blessed are they who have soared in the atmosphere of the All-Merciful’s love and have quaffed this sealed wine. Be thou a servant of thy Lord’s Cause and one who speaketh His praiseworthy remembrance. That which is visible shall pass away, and there shall endure for thee what We have ordained in a preserved Tablet.

BH07670: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest me…

In His Name, the Everlasting, the Eternal!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest me in the Most Great Prison through that which the hands of the nations have wrought. I beseech Thee, O Master of eternity, to bless the throne of the world through the Dawning-Place of Thy justice and the Dayspring of the Sun of Thy grace, that thereby all who dwell in existence, both seen and unseen, may be illumined. O Lord! Deprive not Thy servants of the fragrances of Thy grace in Thy days. Then make them to know the Manifestation of Thy Cause and the Seat of Thy sovereignty. Verily Thou art the One Who hath power through Thy sovereignty over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

O Lord! Thou knowest that the Tree loveth its branches and twigs purely for Thy sake. I beseech Thee to preserve it from stormy winds, and to move it, O my God, by the breezes of Thy Will and the fragrances of Thy Purpose, that through it the fragrance of Thy mercy may be diffused throughout Thy lands and the sweet perfume of the robe of Thy favors throughout Thy dominion. Verily Thou art the Protector of all things and the Omnipotent over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the Powerful.

BH07720: The Most Great, the Most Holy be upon thee…

The Most Great, the Most Holy be upon thee, O thou bearer of tribulations and exile in the path of God, the Lord of Names, and imprisoned because thou didst turn away from the wicked, facing toward God, the Creator of heaven. The splendor of thy Lord be upon thee, and the splendor of those in the Concourse on High, and the splendor which none hath known save God, the Lord of the Last and the First.

Upon thee, O Dayspring of faithfulness, be the glory of God and His praise, and the remembrance of those in the kingdom of His Cause. I testify that ye have borne for God’s sake what none hath borne save whom He willeth. Sufficient unto you is that which His Most Exalted Pen hath moved to mention and praise you.

The fruits shall all perish save the fruits of your mention, and the trees shall all be uprooted save the trees of your being, and the stars shall all set save the stars of your faces, and the eyes shall all be blinded save the eyes of your recognition, and all the edifices of conjecture shall crumble while that which was built by your certitude shall endure.

Blessed is he who draweth nigh unto you and holdeth fast unto you out of love for God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

BH07832: How many a darkness hath been illumined…

In His Name, the One, the Single, the Mighty, the Unconstrained!

How many a darkness hath been illumined by the splendors of the Countenance, and how many a light hath been veiled through following its desires! Verily, He Who changeth not is the One in Essence, and all else changeth. He, verily, is the Mighty, the Chosen. We have lifted the veil from the face of this Cause in this Revelation whereby the idols have been shattered. How many a name have We raised up at eventide and cast down at dawn! Can power be withheld from Him? Nay, by His sovereignty that encompasseth the worlds! He giveth and taketh away even as He quickeneth and causeth to die. None may hesitate in His Cause, and whoso hesitateth is of them that are lost. O people! Ponder the signs and sovereignty of God, and follow not every heedless doubter. Say: Knowledge is not what ye possess. Blessed is he who hath forsaken it, turning unto the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Thus have We adorned thee with the two wings of wisdom and utterance that thou mayest soar therewith unto the Mighty, the Bestower.

BH07884: Do you see what has passed, and do you…

In His Name, the All-Encompassing over all names!

Do you see what has passed, and do you find what has vanished? I know not why men grieve. Take heed, O possessors of understanding! Do you desire fidelity to that which perishes? Those who have deprived themselves of the Divine Presence have indeed suffered loss, after the Living Waters flowed from the finger of their Lord, the Mighty, the Help in Peril. Beware lest the clamor of the wrongdoers prevent you. Draw near unto God through this Name which hath come from the heaven of Command with the kingdom of verses. Is there any doubt about His sovereignty, or about His power which hath encompassed existence? Reflect, O ye possessed of insight! How many were the servants who lamented in separation when the Orb of the horizons shone forth on the Day of the Covenant, and denied the Lord of Lords! Among them was he who said “This is not the Promised One.” Say: By this all existence doth curse thee! By God, He is indeed the One intended, through Whom the Tablets were adorned. Thus have We revealed unto thee and caused to shine upon thee from the horizon of the Pen that which will draw thee near unto God, the Lord of all nations, that thou mayest remember Him at eventide and at dawn.

BH11826: A Remembrance for one who has attained unto My…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Great

A Remembrance for one who has attained unto My days and turned towards My direction and uttered My praise, that he may rejoice in the bounties of his Lord, the Mighty, the Wise. Blessed is he whose mention hath moved the Most Exalted Pen and whose name hath been uttered by the Tongue of Grandeur and Majesty. He is assuredly of the people of Baha in the presence of his Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Blessed art thou, O servant, inasmuch as thou hast quaffed the choice wine of utterance in the days of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, and hast turned thy face toward the Most Great Prospect and heard the Call when it was raised in truth between the heavens and the earth. Put aside the cups of creation and take this luminous cup in the name of thy Lord, the Most Glorious, then drink from it the most pure wine once again. Thus doth thy Lord command thee as He sitteth upon the throne with manifest sovereignty. By My life! Whoso drinketh thereof, the allusions of creation shall not grieve him, nor shall the utterances of those who have disbelieved in God, the Exalted, the Great, prevent him. Thus have We singled thee out for this bounty which hath encompassed the worlds.

BH08497: O my God! Illumine the eyes of hearts…

He is the All-Glorious, the All-Glorious

O my God! Illumine the eyes of hearts with the light of Thy countenance, O Thou the Beloved of those who dwell in the earth and the heavens! Then make Thy servants so steadfast that no veils shall prevent them from turning toward the horizon of Thy Name, the All-Bestowing.

How many servants, O my God, have sought the Desired One but failed to reach Him through that which the hands of the wicked have wrought. O Lord! Ordain for every soul who turns toward Thee that which Thou hast ordained for those who have attained Thy presence, visited Thy Beauty, and heard Thy verses after ears were forbidden from hearing them.

Thou seest, O my God, what I have borne for the liberation and salvation of Thy servants. I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name to draw them nigh unto what Thou hast desired for them through Thy bounty and favor. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.

Then write down for each one of them the good of this world and the next. I testify that within Thy grasp lies the kingdom of all things and in Thy right hand the empire of might.

BH08327: Verily Jamal hath advanced from among those who dwell…

He is the Most Ancient of the Most Ancient

Verily Jamal hath advanced from among those who dwell in the Kingdom of Glory, even though He appeared later in manifestation. Verily, He is the Ever-Abiding, the Ancient of Days. He was first in the unseen and last in the visible realm, that the word might be fulfilled that He is the First and the Last, the Manifest and the Hidden, and that He encompasseth all things. Say: Were He to pronounce darkness to be light, or light to be darkness, none hath the right to object. Whoso objecteth or hesitateth is among the most lost. Say: Faith is to accept whatsoever hath flowed from the Pen of Revelation. Thus hath it been ordained by the Mighty, the Powerful. Say: O people! Look not upon your own conditions, but upon the condition of God, if ye be of them that know. Turn not to your own desires, but to that which the Purpose of the worlds hath desired. Thus hath the Supreme Pen spoken, that thou mayest rejoice within thyself and be of the thankful ones.

BH08581: O Pen! Make mention of him who has turned…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

O Pen! Make mention of him who has turned to the Dawning-Place of Eternity, that the fragrances of the Lord of nations may attract him on this Day wherein the Spirit has been diffused and bodies have taken flight, and bring him to a station wherein all mention is cut off. Rejoice in My remembrance of thee, then illumine thy heart with this Name through which hearts have been turned unto God, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting.

Whoso fulfilleth God’s covenant, verily he is of the people of Baha, and he who breaketh it hath this day no protector before Us. Blessed is the face that hath been illumined by the dawning-rays of the Countenance, and the heart that hath been made radiant by the Dayspring of lights.

Say: Through the mention of Truth are revealed the stations of creation. Thus hath the matter been decreed in the Tablets. Through piety doth the light of Baha appear—hold fast unto it, O concourse of companions!

Grieve thou not over anything. Place thy trust in God in all circumstances. Verily He is with those who have turned unto the Dawning-Place of inspiration.

BH08057: O Jafar! Have you paused after the Spirit hastened…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious

O Jafar! Have you paused after the Spirit hastened to the Dawning-place of the verses of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing? This is the Day whereon the Rock crieth out with the loudest voice:

“Hasten with your hearts to the direction of the Beloved, O ye who are endued with understanding!”

If thou fearest for thy belief, preserve this Tablet. When thou art questioned in the presence of the Ancient One concerning belief in this Most Great Name, bring it forth saying:

“By this Book which hath dawned from the horizon of the All-Knowing One, Who hath appeared with power and sovereignty.”

Raise thy right foot, say “In the Name of God and by God,” then enter through the door with thy Lord’s leave, the Mighty, the Bestower. Say: “O my God! Praise be to Thee for having made me turn towards Thee and for having caused me to know the Purpose of all who are in the heavens and on earth.”

Verily, We perceive the fragrance of certitude from thy house—is it thee or another? Thy Lord is verily the All-Knowing, the Concealer.

BH08046: The Beloved calls out: O people of the realm…

He is the Most Great, the Most Exalted

The Beloved calls out: O people of the realm of existence! Hasten with your hearts to the sanctuary of your Lord’s mercy, the Everlasting, the Mighty, the Luminous. Grieve not for what has befallen you in the path of God. Soon will come the day of victory, and the sincere shall be in manifest joy. Those who doubted are wandering in the wilderness of heedlessness. Those who turned to Him have attained the lights of certitude. Blessed is he whom the attraction of the Almighty has seized, who has taken the cup of love from the fingers of the Chosen One, who has drunk and said: “Praise be to Thee, O Beloved of the worlds!” How many a learned one has stood at the gate, and how many an ignorant one has rent asunder the veils and entered the House through My Name, the Mighty, the Wise. Verily he is among the people of knowledge in the presence of the All-Knowing. His mention has been inscribed in a preserved Tablet. We have sent thee that which will gladden thee in My days and cause thee to remember thy Lord, the Mighty, the Powerful.

BH08426: Grieve not over what hath come to pass. Should…

Grieve not over what hath come to pass. Should He wish it, He would transform hardship into ease and ordain whatsoever He willeth. He, verily, is the All-Powerful, the Almighty. Be not saddened by what hath occurred. Loss in this world and the next shall return to the treacherous souls, and continueth to do so. That which they have taken shall profit them not; rather, humiliation shall descend upon them in this world and in the next, and a grievous chastisement shall afflict them. Be thou occupied at all times with the remembrance of the All-Merciful, and strive in outward matters according to thy capacity. This is thy duty, and thy Lord, the All-Merciful, is the Ruler over what He willeth. Praise God that thou art mentioned in the Most Great Scene and art remembered in the Most Luminous Presence. And the glory rest upon thee.

Convey sublime greetings to his honor Nasir, whom God hath aided. God willing, may he ever drink from the cup of nearness to the Lord of Majesty and be sustained by the goodly fruits of remembrance.

BH08016: My God, my God! Praise be unto Thee…

He is God, the One, the Single One!

My God, my God! Praise be unto Thee for having caused me to dwell in the land of exile and left me in the hands of the oppressors. And thanks be unto Thee for having enabled me to voice Thy praise while I was in the midst of the wicked ones. O my Lord! Thou seest me and my family among those who have found not the fragrance of justice, and at all times there befalleth us from them that which hath not befallen any other in the world. The weakest of servants hath risen against us, and he who was more contemptible than dust hath opposed us. For this do I thank Thee, O Thou Lord of those who know! Enable Thy loved ones, O my God, to be patient in Thy path and steadfast in Thy love. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things. Then write down for them that which will draw them nigh unto the sanctuary of Thy holiness, and send down upon them that which will preserve them from the promptings of the ungodly among Thy creation. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

BH08320: The Most Ancient, the Most Great

The Most Ancient, the Most Great.

We have sent unto thee a breath of holiness from this Garment which hath been crimsoned with the blood of Baha through that which the hands of the wicked have wrought, they who have disbelieved in God, the Revealer of verses. Blessed is he who hath inhaled its fragrance and turned unto it with his heart. He is, verily, of the righteous. The denizens of the Supreme Paradise make mention of him, and upon him do the angels and the Spirit shower their prayers, from the presence of the Mighty, the All-Bestowing. O servants of the All-Merciful! Hearken unto the call of God from this Quarter from which hath shone forth the Sun of certitude. Beware lest anything withhold you from God, the Creator of all possibilities. Leave those who have disbelieved to their vain disputations, and take firm hold of this Cord whereby all religions have been strengthened. They who have turned away, these are the companions of error, and they who have turned towards it, these are in a state of joy and delight. Ask ye God to aid you in His Cause and to ordain for you that which will gladden the hearts and solace the eyes.

BH08161: Jim. Vav. Hearken unto the Call from the Alif…

He is Sanctified from all mention

Jim. Vav. Hearken unto the Call from the Alif standing between the two Vav’s! Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Most Exalted, the Most Great. Let not the words of those who have turned away grieve thee, nor the veils of the heedless. Aid thy Lord under all conditions. Verily, He is with His remembering servants. Grieve not for him who hath ascended unto God. Verily, he is in the Most Glorious Horizon, as attested by My Most Exalted Pen, through which every wondrous command hath been adorned. We have abbreviated the Tablet, and shall send unto thee afterward that which shall gladden the hearts of them that are endued with understanding. Convey My greetings unto My loved ones and unto those who have held fast to the cord of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. They are amongst the people of Baha in the Tablet of Eternity—the Lord of Names maketh mention of them from this resplendent Dawning-Place. And the Glory be upon thy son and upon those who are with thee from among the people of this mighty Paradise.

BH08253: O Lord my God! Thou seest that one…

In the name of God, the Most Glorious

O Lord my God! Thou seest that one of Thy maidservants hath turned unto the Dayspring of Thy Cause and the Dawning-Place of Thy loving-kindness, and hath acknowledged Thy unity and confessed Thy oneness. I beseech Thee, O Lord of Names and Creator of earth and heaven, to ordain for her that which Thou hast ordained for Thy handmaidens who circle round the sanctuary of Thy presence and are blessed by gazing upon Thy beauty. O Lord! Decree for her that which shall gladden her eyes, then shelter her within the pavilion of Thy protection and the tabernacle of Thy safekeeping. Verily, Thou art the Generous One, possessed of the Most Great Name. Look upon her with the eyes of Thy mercy and illumine her heart with the light of Thy knowledge, in such wise that nothing shall prevent her from turning toward the court of Thy bounties. O Lord! Since she hath laid hold on the cord of Thy grace, do not, through Thy bounty, deprive her. Deal with her according to that which befitteth Thy majesty and beneficence. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Most Great.

BH08336: He hath [released] the garment of the body…

In the Name of God, the Most Great

He hath [released] the garment of the body from prison, and renewed the spirit with the adorning of remembrance. Take heed, O ye who are endowed with insight! Say: Tribulation is an ornament of the Glory in the path of God, the Lord of Names. Know this, O ye who are endowed with vision! Do the threats of monarchs frighten Him? Nay, by the Lord of all religions! The more tribulation increased, the more did the Glory increase in the love of God, the Cleaver of the Dawn. Blessed is he who hath lit the lamp of the heart with the oil of remembrance of the name of his Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower. By My life! The heart of the Glory rejoiceth in what hath befallen Him of tribulation in the love of God, the Creator of earth and heaven. This beseemeth every seeker who hath turned to the Dawning-Place of lights. Arise to remember thy Lord and say: By God! The veils have been rent asunder and the All-Bountiful hath come, riding upon the clouds. May the Glory rest upon thee and upon every steadfast believer.

BH08464: In the Name of God, the Most Holy…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious! This is a Book from the Lord of Names to him who hath hearkened unto the Call of his Lord and responded, that he may rejoice in God’s remembrance of him and stand firm in the Cause in such wise that the hosts of the oppressors shall not frighten him.

O thou servant who hast turned unto God! Wert thou to taste the sweetness of the remembrance of God, thou wouldst assuredly detach thyself from all that was and is, speaking forth the name of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, amidst all creation. This, verily, is a certain truth. They who have heard with the ear of the heart have soared in the atmosphere of longing and yearning—to their acceptance testifieth the Pen of God, the Mighty, the Wise.

Can anyone be sorrowful after the Sun of Joy hath dawned from the horizon of the Command of his Lord, the Gracious, the Bountiful? Rejoice ye in this Name! By God, through it have the horizons been perfumed, would ye but know. Through it hath God distinguished between His servants. He, verily, is the Almighty, the Powerful.

Take thou the cup of utterance in My Name, the All-Merciful, then drink therefrom through this wise remembrance.

BH08011: Praise be to God that thou hast attained unto…

In the Name of my Lord, the Lord of all worlds!

Praise be to God that thou hast attained unto the robe of faith in the days of the All-Merciful and hast been nourished by God’s everlasting bounty which, in its primal reality, is the mention of the Truth. Well is it with them that have attained thereunto, and blessed are they that have recognized it. God willing, thou shalt ever drink from the Kawthar of the All-Merciful’s praise and the choice wine of irfan of the Eternal Lord, and shalt at all times and seasons be occupied with the mention of the Beloved of all worlds. This is the treasure that hath not perished nor will ever perish; it shall endure through the eternality of God. Be thou thankful unto thy Lord for this manifest grace.

Say: Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having made me to know Thy Self and for not depriving me of the fragrances of the robe of Thy grace in Thy days. My Lord! Number me and my son among those who have attained unto that which Thou didst desire on the day of Thy rising to establish Thy Cause. Then assist those who have been heedless of Thy remembrance to turn unto Thee. Verily, Thou art the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH08347: Oppression hath appeared on all sides. Where are…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

Oppression hath appeared on all sides. Where are the avenging swords, O Avenger of the worlds? The Ancient Beauty hath been imprisoned in the white dome through the acts committed by the hands of the wicked ones. Where are the manifestations of Thy bestowals, O Sovereign of the worlds?

I beseech Thee, O Creator of heaven and Lord of all names, to aid Thy servants who have turned unto Thee and have set their faces toward the court of Thy grace. Withhold them not from the stream of Thy Cause and the spring of Thy love. O Lord! Thou art He unto Whose sovereignty and power all things testify, and Whose grandeur and transcendence every tongue doth proclaim. Ordain for us that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones, who were not kept back by worldly affairs from Thy path, O Lord of creation, and who remained steadfast in Thy Cause and voiced Thy praise until they attained martyrdom in Thy path, O Lord of the worlds.

O handmaiden of God! Bear thou witness unto that whereunto God hath testified concerning His Own Self by His Own Self, that there is none other God but Him, and that He Who hath come with the truth is indeed He Who was hidden within the treasuries of protection and inscribed in the holy scrolls. Through Him hath every seeker attained his goal and every aspirant his desire, and through Him were loosened the tongues of all created things proclaiming: “The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the Revealer of verses.” Give thanks, for thy name hath been mentioned before the Throne, and there hath been sent down for thee that which hath caused the mountain peaks to soar unto God, the Manifest One. Hold thou fast unto the cord of steadfastness. Thus doth the Lord of all creation command thee.

BH08265: Praised be Thou, O my God! This servant…

He is the Most Mighty of the Mighty

Praised be Thou, O my God! This servant of Thine testifieth that naught else except Thee can ever express Thee, nor canst Thou be described by any one save Thyself. The thoughts of them that have recognized Thy reality, however much they may ascend towards the heaven of Thy praise, can never hope to pass beyond the bounds which, by Thy behest and decree, have been fixed within their own hearts. How can the creature who is as nothing comprehend Him Who is the Ancient of Days, or succeed in describing the full measure of His sovereignty, His glory, and His grandeur? Nay, and to this Thou Thyself dost witness, O Thou Who art the Governor of nations! Every created thing hath recognized its own impotence, and the power of Thy might, and hath confessed its own abasement and Thy great glory.

I beseech Thee by Thy Lastness which is the same as Thy Firstness, and by Thy Revelation which is identical with Thy Concealment, to grant that they who are dear to Thee, and their children, and their kindred, may become the revealers of Thy purity amidst Thy creatures, and the manifestations of Thy sanctity amongst Thy servants.

Thou art, verily, powerful to do Thy pleasure. Thou art, in truth, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08248: The All-Glorious, the Most High, the Most Splendid

The All-Glorious, the Most High, the Most Splendid

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest me in the hands of those who have denied Thy mighty signs, who have turned away from the Dawning-Place of Thy most excellent names, and who have opposed Him through Whom Thou didst create earth and heaven. By Thy glory, O my God! Were I not to look upon Thy name, the All-Merciful, I would speak a word that would cause the heavens of existence to be rent asunder. But how can this be after I witness the waves of the ocean of Thy generosity and favors, and the breezes of the winds of Thy grace and bounties? O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Name which none hath known save Thine own Self, the All-Knowing, to raise up through Thy sovereignty one who will arise to aid Thy Cause, to exalt Thy Word, and to manifest Thy dominion amongst Thy creatures. O Lord! Thou seest the weakness of Thy loved ones, even after they have acknowledged that Thou art the Mighty, the Powerful. Therefore reveal unto them from the horizon of power that which will assure their hearts and attract the minds of them that have recognized Thee.

BH08561: O servant! Give thanks to God thy Lord…

O servant! Give thanks to God thy Lord, for thy name hath been brought into His presence and the gaze of thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, hath been directed towards thee. Didst thou but know the station of this place, thou wouldst soar with longing and cry out with this Name amongst the worlds.

When We commanded the people to wisdom, We concealed from them certain stations lest the fire of yearning wrest from their hands the reins of choice. Verily thy Lord is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth.

Remember God thy Lord, then thank Him for having sent down unto thee that whereby thy mention shall endure throughout the kingdom of earth and heaven. He, verily, is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

O My loved ones! Rejoice in My Name, then make mention of your Lord, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Be not grieved by those who have turned away. God shall soon seize them with a mighty wrath from His presence. Verily He destroyed the generations of old and shall exalt your names in truth. He, verily, is the Powerful, the Mighty.

BH08111: O handmaiden of God! Praise the Beloved…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O handmaiden of God! Praise the Beloved of the worlds that through His grace you have entered the Divine Law and attained the outpourings of the All-Merciful which have been sent down from the heaven of will. Blessed art thou and blessed are those men and women who have attained. Your mention was made at the Divine Throne and this Tablet, which is the dawning-place of divine favors, was revealed and specifically sent to that handmaiden, that she might inhale the sweet fragrance of the All-Merciful from this spiritual Tablet and with complete love become occupied with the remembrance of the Beloved of all creation. Know ye the value of these days and the favors dawning from the horizon of grace, for their like hath not appeared in creation. God willing, drink ye forever and eternally from the cup of steadfastness and remain free and detached from the mention of aught else but the Friend. The glory be upon you, O My handmaidens.

BH08494: O My Name! Well have you called upon God…

O My Name! Well have you called upon God, your Lord and the Lord of the worlds. We beseech God to cause you to speak His mention at all times and to assist through you those who have turned to His countenance in accordance with what He loves and is pleased with.

O My Name! You have become aware of a drop from the ocean of My grief and what has befallen Me from those possessed of hatred. Soon there shall appear in the city that which was sent down in the Tablets. Your Lord is verily the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

What has befallen Me cannot be mentioned in utterance nor can the pen of possibility flow upon it. Call upon your Lord that He may deliver Me from the wrongdoers. All joy is a sacrifice for My grief, all rest is a sacrifice for My hardship, and all laughter is a sacrifice for My weeping, by virtue of what has befallen Me in the path of God, the Master of the Day of Judgment.

Indeed, mercy and glory be upon you and upon those who are with you there. Give them glad tidings through the mention of My Name, the Wronged One, the Unique One.

BH08187: A mention from Us to him who hath cast…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

A mention from Us to him who hath cast away vain imaginings and taken that which shone forth with the light of certitude, that the breath of God might pass over him from this exalted horizon. We have seized the spirits by a word from Us, then given them life. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Look not at those who have disbelieved and what they possess, but look at Him Who, at the center of tribulation, summoneth all unto God, the Lord of the worlds. Those who have turned away are in manifest error, and those who have hesitated are wandering distraught in the wilderness of doubt. Say: O people! The Self-Subsisting hath come, and this Day is God’s, the Mighty, the Praised. Cast away what ye possess and turn unto the Singular, the All-Informed. On this Day, no soul’s belief shall profit it except after its acceptance. Thus hath the matter been decreed in a preserved Tablet. Thus have We sent down the verses unto thee and dispatched them to thee, that thou mayest be of those who are assured.

BH08137: O Hadi! God willing, mayest thou be guided…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O Hadi! God willing, mayest thou be guided by the light of guidance which hath risen and shineth forth from the horizon of the heaven of God’s Will. O Hadi! Sever the cord of relationship with creation and hold fast unto the cord of relationship with God. The glance of His favor hath been directed towards thee—fix thine eyes upon it and turn away from all else. Drink of the wine of divine knowledge through the splendors of His divine countenance, and becoming intoxicated with this spiritual wine, speak forth with utmost longing in the gathering of the lovers in praise of the Day-Star of the horizons. With thine own eye of insight, gaze upon the Sun of Truth, that thou mayest perchance be illumined by its rays which today shine forth from the horizon of the prison, and mayest say with all thy being:

“Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who hast caused me to know Thyself while I was imprisoned by the hands of the idolaters. I am content, O my God, with the cord of relationship with Thee, having severed myself from relationship with every idolater who turneth away from Thy luminous beauty.”
