Volume 049: 1872–1873 1289–1290 A.H., Part III (2 of 4)
BH05292: He is the One Who has dominion over…
He is the One Who has dominion over the worlds! O Ahmad! Hearken unto the call of Him Who is mentioned. He makes mention of thee through His grace. He is, verily, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
Remember when thou wert present before the Countenance and the Wronged One turned toward thee from this manifest horizon. Thou didst migrate unto God and visit His House which was raised up in His Name, the Mighty, the All-Wise. And thou didst return therefrom and enter the place wherein the stones proclaimed: “The kingdom belongeth unto God, the Almighty, the All-Powerful!”
O Ahmad! The idolaters of the land became obstacles and barriers, yet praise be to the Absolute Truth that despite the greatest hindrance, you attained unto the Most Luminous Horizon.
Observe the divine Manifestations throughout the ages and reflect: what was the cause that all, despite their seeking, were deprived and forbidden, save those whom thy Lord wished? Forever have the veils of idle fancies prevented people from the Dayspring of the lights of divine unity. And after the elevation and ascension of the Dawning-Places of revelation, they would arise in lamentation and weeping. Such is their condition and their deeds.
Ask of the Truth for steadfastness that thou mayest remain firm in His Cause. Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name that Thou leave me not to myself. Draw me unto the horizon of Thy favors and the Dayspring of Thine inspiration. Then make me steadfast in Thy love. Verily, Thou art the Mighty, the All-Bestowing.
BH05532: This is a remembrance from before Us to him…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Mighty, the Most Glorious
This is a remembrance from before Us to him who hath turned and attained unto God, the Lord of the worlds, that he may hear the call of his Lord when it was raised in truth between the heavens and the earth. The call hath been raised in such wise as to encompass all names, yet the people are in strange heedlessness. He who hath arisen at the call of his Lord is of those who have attained, and he who hath turned away is of the perishing ones.
O servant! When the attraction of thy Lord’s call taketh hold of thee, arise to serve and obey Him. Thus doth command thee He Who dwelleth alone in the land of exile through that which the hands of the oppressors have wrought. Rejoice thou in the remembrance of the Wronged One of thee, then turn with thy heart to the Kaaba of the yearning ones.
Say: O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name that dominateth all names to inscribe me among those who have circled round Thee in Thy days and have attained that which Thou didst desire for them through Thy bounty and favor. Then aid me to be steadfast in Thy love and to turn away from those who have opposed Thy Self after Thou didst come to them with the Manifestation of Thy Cause and the Dayspring of Thy signs. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Praised.
And the glory be upon thee and upon those who are there in My name—verily it is for Kamali and those with him from among My loved ones. By My life! The Most Exalted Pen moveth to make mention of him and his kindred. Thy Lord is verily the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
BH05455: The breezes of grace have wafted from the direction…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
The breezes of grace have wafted from the direction of God, the Almighty, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Blessed is he who hath turned unto them and perceived the fragrances of the garment of the Beloved. He is, verily, among those who are brought nigh.
How many servants there were unto whom We revealed that which all who are in the heavens and on earth were powerless to produce, yet when they beheld the signs of their Lord they cast them behind their backs and followed what their idols commanded them. They are indeed a people who deny. And how many servants there were who appeared before the Throne, and when We manifested Ourselves unto them they bowed down and prostrated themselves and said: “We believe in Thee, O Beloved of the worlds!”
Blessed is the servant whom the world hath not kept back from turning toward God, the Lord of all names, and who hath turned unto Him with a luminous heart. Soon shall that which is seen be rolled up; then shall the sincere ones find what they were promised in a glorious Book.
Take hold of the Book of God with the power bestowed by Us, then stand firm in His love and good-pleasure.
Say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou in Whose hand is the dominion of all creation! I testify that Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful. And praise be unto Thee for having remembered me and sent unto me that which hath diffused the fragrance of grace amongst the worlds. Verily thy Lord giveth whom He willeth what He willeth and ordaineth for whomsoever He desireth that which causeth him to soar in the atmosphere of the mercy of His name, the All-Merciful. He, verily, is the Ruler over whatsoever He willeth.
BH05472: The Most Exalted Pen declares: This is the Day…
In the name of the Beloved of all worlds
The Most Exalted Pen declares: This is the Day of hearkening—hear ye the call of the All-Merciful that is raised at the midmost heart of creation, and hold fast to the cord of His love in such wise that neither the hints of the deniers nor the words of the infidels shall hold you back. Praise be to God that you are numbered among the believing women in the presence of the Divine Countenance, and counted among those who have turned towards Him. The heart is the mirror of Truth—keep it sanctified from the dust of the vain imaginings of the people. The eye is for beholding the Most Great Scene—keep it pure from the ophthalmia of idle fancies. This is God’s counsel to His handmaidens, and His remembrance to His loved ones.
O handmaiden of God! Convey My greetings to the handmaidens of God. Say: You are all remembered in the Most Great Scene and have been adorned with the ornament of the bounty of the Lord of Destiny. Strive ye, and beseech God that ye be not deprived of this wondrous and sublime ornament, and that ye may circle round in all the worlds. Be not saddened by the sorrows of the world, nor gladdened by its joy. Neither sorrow nor joy is beloved in the Cause of the Beloved. Joy befitteth him who hath recognized this Revelation, and sorrow him who hath heard of its tribulations. Whatsoever occurreth in the path of God returneth unto Him. Blessed art thou and thy daughter who hath turned unto God and believed in God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH05315: O my leaf, upon whom be the splendor…
O my leaf, upon whom be the splendor of God! In the name of the Beloved of the worlds! God willing, thou hast ever drunk and wilt continue to drink of the sealed wine which hath been opened by the finger of the Beloved’s bounty, and thou hast at all times partaken of the Kawthar of the Merciful’s utterance. The glance of His favor hath been and will be upon thee. This is a bounty with which nothing that hath been created or will be created can compare.
Be not grieved at the tribulations that have befallen thee. The cup of trials hath ever been reserved for the chosen ones and near ones. Had the world been worthy, the Ancient Beauty would never have allowed Himself to fall into the hands of the idolaters. That which perisheth hath been ordained for the people of the world, and that which endureth for the people of Baha.
Hold fast unto God’s grace and be confident in His bounty. Despite the successive trials and calamities that have befallen Us, We are at all times occupied with the remembrance of the All-Merciful and are pleased with whatsoever hath come to pass. The leaves of the divine Tree must likewise follow His example—they must be joyous in His remembrance and transported by His praise.
Behold the grace of God—those who counted themselves among His near ones and intimates are today deprived of the Euphrates of the All-Merciful’s mercy, while thou art turned unto it and hast attained. This bounty sufficeth thee. God willing, thou shalt at all times be engaged in His remembrance and be turned toward His direction. The glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee.
BH05332: O leaf of the Divine Lote-Tree! May you be…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great
O leaf of the Divine Lote-Tree! May you be, through the grace of the King of Oneness, joyous and glad, and in all conditions occupied with the wondrous praise of the Lord, the Most High.
If you ask about the condition of this Prisoner, He is afflicted with trials beyond counting, yet despite this, His tongue speaks the praise of God, His heart is occupied with His remembrance, and His eyes are fixed upon His horizon. We are immersed in an ocean of sorrows, yet We drink from the cup of joy—joy upon joy upon joy—for whatever befalls Us occurs in the path of God and is therefore beloved and shall ever be so.
You too must not, God willing, be saddened by the various incidents that occur, but in all conditions hold fast to the hem of God’s grace and cling to the cord of His love. The glance of God’s grace has ever been fixed upon that leaf—this is that bounty which endures throughout the kingdom of earth and heaven, which shall never perish nor be altered. That which is visible shall soon vanish, but that which is with thy Lord shall endure and remain, for He is the Rain of Generosity and the Succorer of those who seek succor.
Praise be to God, the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Lauded. May the glory rest upon you, upon your son, and upon all who are with you, male and female. A Tablet has been specially revealed for Umm-i-Shams—forward it to her.
BH05553: This is what hath been sent down aforetime. Verily…
He is Most Holy, Most Inaccessible, Most Mighty, Most Exalted!
This is what hath been sent down aforetime. Verily it is a mighty revelation. The ocean of tribulation hath surged, and its waves have encompassed the Ark of God, the Almighty, the Self-Subsisting. O Mariner! Be not dismayed by the winds, for the One Who causeth the dawn to break is with thee in this darkness that hath enveloped the worlds.
Whoso pondereth upon these two verses will discover what hath befallen Us at the hands of the oppressors. Tribulation hath reached such a state that the Pen of Creation is powerless to describe it. Thy Lord, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. We make mention of Him in all conditions in such wise that neither the veils of glory nor the might of the oppressors can hinder Us.
It behooveth every soul to follow his Lord and to be among the steadfast. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the lights of faith and recognized the All-Merciful in this wondrous garment. They who have cast the Command of God behind their backs, these are among the abased. These have followed their passions and turned away from guidance. God will soon seize them with His wrath. He, verily, is the Almighty, the Powerful.
O thou who gazest upon the Countenance! Be thou steadfast in the service of thy Lord and be among those who remember Him, that through thy remembrance perchance may be attracted the hearts of those who have forgotten their Lord and are among the distracted ones. Thus doth command thee the Pen of the Divine Command, at the time when the Ancient Beauty was established upon the throne of His Most Great Name. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH05523: Among the people are those who have turned away…
In His Name, the One Who has dominion over all things
Among the people are those who have turned away from the Truth by following the vain imaginings of those whom knowledge has deluded, and thus they have been prevented from hearkening to the call of the Lord of Names, which has been raised in truth: “There is no God but Me, the All-Possessing, the Self-Subsisting.” Among them are those who have clung to the vain imaginings of the people of the Bayan, and thus have been kept back from the All-Merciful.
Say: By God! What was revealed aforetime will profit you not today, except through your recognition of this Book which has been inscribed by the Pen of Revelation from God, the Mighty, the Beloved. There is no escape for anyone today, nor refuge for any soul—thus has it been ordained in the Tablet, did ye but know.
The Bayan had foretold what later came to pass, saying:
“When the Call is raised, let not yourselves be veiled by the Bayan and what was revealed therein. Hasten ye unto the All-Merciful and follow not every heedless, limited one.”
Beware lest the world beguile you, or the veils of names keep you back from Him through Whom every decreed matter has been established. Yet when the Call was raised and the Hidden was revealed, they turned away from it, unaware.
Those who have attained to recognition—these are the manifestations of the Countenance amidst creation, upon whom the near-stationed angels shower their prayers. Hold fast to that which ye have been commanded by God, and grieve not for what has befallen you at the hands of the oppressors.
BH05428: The Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious!…
The Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious! Well is it with thee, O Trustee, for thou hast drunk from the cup of certitude and turned unto God, the True Sovereign Who maketh all things manifest. Thou hast cast aside vain imaginings from among the people, turning unto God, the Lord of all mankind. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing. Nothing escapeth His knowledge. He is indeed the Lord of knowledge and its sovereign. He heareth and seeth. He is in truth the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.
There hath been mentioned before the Throne, time and again, that which thou hast spoken in remembrance of thy Lord’s love, the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful. We have sent down unto thee, in every instance, verses clear and decisive, as a bounty from the presence of One mighty and praiseworthy.
Know thou that they who claim to be enraptured by any name save this Name are among the heedless ones. Say: O people, be ye drawn by this Remembrance, whereby the backs of those who disbelieved in God, the Lord of all worlds, were broken, and through whose sovereign and all-pervading power We have subdued all created things. We have forbidden the people vain imaginings. Among them are those who worship idle fancies and perceive it not, imagining themselves to be among those who have attained the light of certitude. Say: All things are dependent upon the testimony of God, the King, the Single, the All-Informed.
Well is it with thee and with thy sister and with whosoever hath turned unto you both, purely for the sake of God. He is assuredly among the sincere ones. Rejoice thou in God’s remembrance of thee. He remembereth whosoever hath turned unto Him and loveth whosoever hath set his face toward His shining and luminous countenance.
BH05364: In all times We have been and are afflicted…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
In all times We have been and are afflicted with successive and continuous tribulations. Nevertheless, through God’s grace, mercy, power and sovereignty, We are engaged in His remembrance and in teaching His Most Great Cause. Whatever has been and is being endured has but one purpose: that hearts and souls may be sanctified from selfish and passionate inclinations and turn toward the Most Holy Horizon, so that through divine favor they may, in this transient world, attain unto eternal stations. The rain of the mercy of the All-Merciful is at all times descending from the clouds of grace, that perchance withered souls may be adorned with the ornament of a wondrous life. Verily the Cause is in His hands—He doeth whatsoever He willeth through His sovereignty. Blessed art thou for having attained unto that which God desired and for having arisen to serve Him on a day wherein most of the people were veiled.
There hath befallen Our loved ones in that place what hath befallen Us in this exalted station. Although what hath come to pass hath outwardly been most bitter and unpalatable, yet inwardly, since it hath occurred in the path of God, it is most sweet. Erelong shall the opposers be seen in manifest loss and remorse, and those who have turned toward God shall be observed in the utmost glory and dignity. This is irrevocably decreed with thy Lord. He, verily, is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. The Glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee.
BH05254: Thy writing was present before Me, and since it…
Thy writing was present before Me, and since it was adorned with mention of the Beloved One, joy and gladness were attained. Blessed art thou for having remembered thy Lord in thy days and for having been a spreader of His Cause among His creation and one who mentioned His name among His servants. I beseech God to assist thee and confirm thee in all conditions, that thou mayest be content with His good-pleasure and turn away from all else.
Likewise the leaf of His Name Ha, upon him be the Glory of God, which was in thy writing, was present before Me. We testify that he hath outstripped most of the servants in service to his Lord, the Possessor of all existence. He is among those whom We have accepted for My remembrance and chosen for My service amongst My creatures, and We have sent down for him in My Tablets that which will establish his spirit in the kingdoms of My eternity and his remembrance among My creation through the duration of My heavenly kingdom and My celestial dominion. O Mihdi! We love to mention him for having turned with his whole being to his Lord, the Mighty, the Wise. God sends His greetings from this direction upon him and upon those who love him purely for God, the Single, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Some names were observed in the writing of His Name Ha. Although Sublime and Glorious Tablets were specifically sent to some of those souls, yet God will send down anew whatsoever He willeth since their names were mentioned in his writing, as a grace from His presence upon him and upon them. Verily thy Lord is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH05325: O Ali! Some in certain places have outwardly clung…
O Ali! Some in certain places have outwardly clung to one of the branches of this Tree, thereby drawing weak souls from the shore of divine unity into the wasteland of misbelief and error. In truth, these souls’ secret purpose was never and is not the branch of the Tree, but rather their own selfish desires. God will reveal what lies in their hearts and the hidden things of their souls. Verily He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
It is necessary to prevent people from entering such places and to make every possible effort to protect the Cause from all directions, lest the satans make a breach.
O Ali! Strange are the people who each day soar with a different desire and wander in a wilderness. Never was their purpose the branch, nor is it now. Rather, they have made him a means for attracting people to their own causes. God protect us and you from the evil of these people.
Out of regard for previous mercy, We have not torn away the veil from these souls in this instance—perhaps they will become aware and conscious. They have also deceived some village people with their vain imaginings. If someone could wisely and kindly draw these weak ones to the shore of divine unity’s glory, it would be praiseworthy.
The Glory be upon you and upon those with you.
BH05285: Hearken unto the call of thy Most Glorious Lord…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
Hearken unto the call of thy Most Glorious Lord from the direction of destiny. Verily there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting. Grieve not at anything, but in all matters put thy trust in God, the Protector, the Almighty. Soon shall pass away all thou beholdest, and sovereignty belongeth unto God, thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
Know thou that when We reached the prison, We purposed to convey unto the kings the Message of God. Therefore was there revealed unto each one of them a Tablet wherein We proclaimed the Cause with power and sovereignty. Because of this were We surrounded by trials from every direction, to such extent that We were prevented from beholding those who desired to visit the Sacred House.
By My life! These trials have not prevented thy Most Glorious Lord from summoning the people at all times unto God, the Powerful, the Gracious. Be thou even as thy Lord hath been, that no thing may prevent thee from the remembrance of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.
Blessed art thou, inasmuch as thy letter hath reached the Most Great Prison and attained the glance of thy Lord, the Ancient of Days, through which were darkened the faces of those who turned away and were illumined the faces of the righteous. Stand thou firm in the Cause of thy Lord. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who didst remember me while I was in the hands of the wicked. The glory from Us be upon thee and upon those who are with thee among those who have shattered the idol of fancy and turned towards the Dayspring of divine inspiration.
BH05293: O Asad! Greetings unto thee from the Single…
He is the most Exalted
O Asad! Greetings unto thee from the Single, the One, Who is established upon the throne of Revelation and at Whose advent the hearts of the wicked were sorely troubled. Ponder thy name and arise to that which behoveth it through the power of thy Lord, the Master of all men. This is the Day wherein the Dove warbleth upon the twigs of the Ultimate Tree. The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the One, the Mighty, the Unconstrained.
Adorn thy tongue with the mention of thy Lord in such wise that whoso is heedless and veiled may be stirred thereby. Be thou as a lion in thy Lord’s Cause, in such wise that the howling of those who have disbelieved in God, the Lord of all men, may not deter thee. Draw forth the sword of utterance in My name, then with My leave unlock therewith the cities of men’s hearts. Thus doth command thee He Who dwelleth in the most desolate of lands.
Take thou the choice wine of life with power and tranquility. Exalted is the All-Merciful Who hath sent it down through might and sovereignty at all times. Follow thou thy Lord in such wise that tribulation may not withhold thee from His mention betwixt earth and heaven. Perchance through thy remembrance the fragrance of My bountiful robe may be wafted abroad throughout all regions.
By My life! Shouldst thou taste the sweetness of My remembrance of thee, thou wouldst assuredly forsake the world entirely and cry out My Name with wisdom and utterance. Make mention of thy Lord with a fire that shall cause the trees of existence to blaze. Thus doth command thee the Lord of creation.
Grieve not at aught. Put thy trust in God. He will verily protect thee through the truth, for He is indeed powerful over whatsoever He willeth.
BH05453: We have lit the lamp while people are…
He is the Most Holy
We have lit the lamp while people are in astounding darkness. Have they become distant because they were prevented? Nay, but because of what they have earned. O people of understanding! Baha doth summon them unto guidance, but desire hath prevented them from turning to the Mighty, the Bestower. We have forbidden the people of creation from indecency—among them are those who heard and arose, and among them are those who wandered in the wilderness of error. Say: Choose not for yourselves that which the Chosen One hath not chosen for you. He desireth for you that which will guide you to the path of right guidance. Say: Destroy not the pillars of righteousness with the hands of transgression. Fear God, O people of insight!
Blessed art thou and those who have turned to the horizon of the Cause on this Day wherein the Tongue of the Ancient of Days proclaimeth: The Cause hath appeared and the appointed time hath come. O Hasan! Write the name of thy Lord in the most excellent handwriting. We have manifested it for that purpose. Verily thy Lord is He Who ruleth over what He willeth. Through His mention the writings have been adorned and the Tablets embellished. Blessed are the fingers that moved in remembrance of their Lord and blessed is the pen that flowed with His Name whereby the horizons were illumined. When thou dost find the fragrance of the verses sent down from the presence of the Lord of Names and Attributes, turn with thy pure heart to the Most Great Scene. Say: Praise be unto Thee for having caused me to hear Thy call and to know Thy Self. I testify that Thou art the Illuminator of the realms and the Educator of the servants.
BH05509: The Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Great Book, sent…
The Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Great Book, sent down in truth from God, the Mighty, the Beautiful, unto him who hath been imprisoned with his Lord through what the hands of those who cast guidance behind them and followed their desires have wrought—they are indeed among the idolaters.
Days have passed during which the Supreme Pen hath not outwardly turned toward you, though inwardly ye remain beneath the glances of your Ancient Lord’s loving-kindness. We desired to send word to you after the arrival of him who turned toward the Ancient Beauty, but when this was delayed, We sent him who was named ʿAli after Nabil. He traveled through the lands by Our leave, journeying as was ordained in the Tablet from thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. He hath returned in these days from the land of Kha, and We have sent him to thee with this clear Tablet that thou mayest rejoice within thyself and give thanks to thy Lord at all times.
O Husayn! Be not grieved at anything, for He is with thee and maketh mention of thee in the place wherein naught is seen save the effulgences of the lights of His mighty Throne. Soon shall earthly dominion pass away, while that which ye possess in God’s kingdom, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, shall endure. Thus have We sent down the Tablet unto thee and adorned thy temple with the ornament of thy Lord’s remembrance, the Forgiving, the Bountiful.
Convey My greetings unto My handmaidens and then unto the leaves of the Tree which was planted by the hand of My bounty in the paradise of My loving providence. Thus doth the Lord of all worlds command thee.
BH05294: O Imam! Your letter hath come into the presence…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Inaccessible, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!
O Imam! Your letter hath come into the presence of thy Lord, the Lord of all beings, and hath been honored by God’s glance on this Day which God hath made the Dawning-Place of all days.
Soar in the atmosphere of thy Lord’s love and remind the servants, from the All-Merciful, with wisdom and utterance. Thus hast thou been commanded from God, the Lord of all creation.
As to what thou hast asked regarding what We have revealed before, know that We have explained and detailed all that hath been and will be mentioned. Search and thou wilt find it in the Tablets.
By My life, O Imam! This is not the Day for questions. It behooveth every soul, when hearing the Call from the Dawning-Place of My Most Glorious Name, to say:
“Here am I, O God of all who are in the heavens and on earth!”
Stand firm, through God’s power and might.
Say: O people! Doth it befit you to tarry when the very rock crieth out with the loudest voice:
“Hasten with your hearts unto the Beloved, through Whose remembrance all creation hath been adorned!”
Grieve not over those who have disbelieved. Soon shall they find themselves in abasement and loss.
When thou hast received the Tablet and found from it the fragrance of the garment of the All-Merciful, turn with thy heart to the Dawning-Place of Revelation. Say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou through Whose Supreme Pen my name hath flowed, and Whose mention my tongue hath uttered while I was in the midst of the wicked ones.
BH05302: O servant! Have you hesitated in the Cause after…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!
O servant! Have you hesitated in the Cause after all things cry out: “Hasten with your hearts to the Beloved”? Turn your face toward God and say: “I have turned to You, O Qiblih of the heavens and earth! Blessed is he who has returned, repented, and held fast to the Name of his Lord, the Ever-Forgiving, the Merciful.”
Demolish the standards of idle fancy through the sovereignty of your Lord, the Possessor of all names. Then arise from the horizon of acceptance with this Name through which God has broken the might of the aggressors. Leave those who call the servants to what their own selves command them, and turn to the Lord of all worlds.
Say: “O my God! I have turned to You, detached from all else but You. Strengthen me through Your sovereignty to serve Your Cause and aid Your Faith. Verily, You are the All-Powerful, the Almighty.”
I testify that this Tablet is a gift from You that has shone forth from the horizon of Your bounty as a favor to Your creation. O my Lord! Aid me to take hold of it through a power from You. Verily, You are He Who does what He pleases through His Will and decrees what He desires through His Purpose. None can resist Your Command or prevent what You have ordained in Your days.
I beseech You by Him Who summons the nations in the Most Great Prison to the horizon of Your gifts and favors, that You write down for me what I have missed in Your days, and rend asunder the veils that have come between me and You. Verily, You are the Forgiving, the Merciful.
BH05452: The Most Great, the Most Holy. We have manifested…
The Most Great, the Most Holy. We have manifested unto thee that for which thou wast created. Hold thou fast unto it and say: Praise be to Thee, O Lord of the worlds! It is the knowledge of thy Lord, and it is greater than the creation of the heavens and earth.
Every fire hath been extinguished, but the Fire in this Tree speaketh at all times, saying:
“Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Generous.”
Should anyone be enkindled by this Fire, those who dwell in the world shall be enkindled by him. Thus doth the Lord of Pre-existence instruct thee whilst He was imprisoned by the opposers.
Remember thy Lord on this Day whereon the gates of heaven were opened and the Lord of Names came with manifest sovereignty. O Friend! Shatter the idols of vain imaginings in the name of thy Lord. Beware lest the veils of those who have disbelieved in God, the Exalted, the Great, hold thee back.
Say: O people! The breeze of the All-Merciful hath wafted through all contingent beings, and the fragrance of the Garment hath been diffused throughout creation. Turn ye unto it and follow not those who followed their desires—they are truly among the wrongdoers.
Blessed is he who hath turned with his heart unto the Worshipped One and answered His call after the Supreme Horizon had sent forth its cry—he is truly among the sincere ones. Woe unto those who are veiled by what they possess from what God possesseth—they are truly among the perishing ones.
Be thou thankful unto thy Lord, inasmuch as the Sun of Remembrance hath shone forth upon thee from this manifest and gleaming horizon.
BH05530: Blessed art thou, O Mihdi, in that thou guidest…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!
Blessed art thou, O Mihdi, in that thou guidest the people to the path of righteousness and rememberest thy Lord in days wherein the dust of atheism hath seized the servants, save those whom thy Lord, the Lord of creation, hath willed. We were with thee in the days when thou didst make mention of this Name through which the dawn of inner meanings hath shone forth from the horizon of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower.
Stand thou firm in the Cause through the power and might of God. Say: O people! Ye have no protector from God this day save through casting aside what ye possess and turning unto the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. Be thou enkindled with the heat of the love of God, then light the lamp of the hearts of others through the sovereignty of the Names on this Day which God hath made the Sun of all days. Let not the clamor of the deniers frighten thee, nor the might of any oppressor or tyrant disturb thee. Arise to serve the Cause by My command and remind the people through this Remembrance which God hath made the source of all remembrance.
Convey My greetings to My loved ones who have believed in that place, then illumine their faces with this Tablet from whose horizon the lights have shone forth. Say: O My loved ones! By My life, We hear your call and behold your turning unto Us. Be not grieved at anything. Rather, rejoice in what hath been ordained for you in the most exalted station. Blessed are ye, inasmuch as the Tongue of Grandeur hath spoken your names on this Night which God hath made the Dawning-Place of all days.
BH05392: Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses…
In His Name, the Eternal, the Everlasting
Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses in truth and made them a mercy to all the worlds. Nothing whatsoever can prevent Him from that which He desireth. He doeth what He willeth through His sovereignty and ordaineth what He pleaseth. The idolaters imagined that tribulation would prevent Baha from that which God, the Lord of Names, desired. Say: Nay, by Him Who created the heaven! Nothing can prevent Him from the remembrance of His Lord, the Mighty, the Praised One.
When We arrived at the prison, We desired to convey unto the kings the message of their Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. One of the servants appeared before Our presence, and We cast upon him a word from Us, whereupon his limbs trembled. We held him back through a power from Us—verily thy Lord is the Mighty, the Powerful. Then We cast another word, whereupon he was filled with joy within himself. We breathed into him the spirit of might and power and sent him with a Tablet from thy Lord, the Chosen One, unto him whom thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Wise, desired, that all may know that tribulation preventeth Him not from that which He desireth in the path of God, the Creator of all things. He summoneth the peoples unto the Lord of Eternity, and the might of those who have disbelieved in God, the Mighty, the Beautiful, preventeth Him not.
Thus have We recounted unto thee that which came to pass aforetime, that thou mayest become aware of the sovereignty of thy Lord and be of the thankful ones. When thou hast attained unto the Tablet of thy Lord say: Praise be unto Thee, O God of the worlds, in that Thou hast caused my name to flow from the Pen of Thy Command while I was imprisoned by the hands of the idolaters.
BH05346: Thou seest me, O my God, in prison between…
Thou seest me, O my God, in prison between two factions, and Thou hearest my sighing and the lamentation of my heart at what hath befallen Thy Cause from the enemies of Thy Self. I beseech Thee by Thy Name which hath conquered all things and encompassed earth and heaven, to raise up one who will aid Thee amongst Thy creatures and exalt Thy Cause in Thy lands.
Then I beseech Thee, O my God, to assist me in all conditions to manifest Thy Cause in such wise that the winds of trials shall not prevent me, nor the opposition of the followers of religions, and that I may be speaking Thy Name in Thy land and making mention of Thy remembrance among Thy creatures. O Lord! Aid me and my loved ones who have arisen to serve Thee and to help Thy Cause, then strengthen them with the hosts of the names. Verily Thou art the Creator of heaven and the Ruler over what Thou pleasest. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Wise.
Thou knowest, O my God, that in this most great tribulation and darkest ordeal, I make mention of him who hath turned unto Thee with pure heart, that the attraction of Thy verses may seize him unto a station wherein he may be wholly detached from all else save Thee, and may make mention to the people of Thy bounties which have been sent down from the heaven of Thy Will and inscribed by the Pen of Thy decree. Then enable him, O my God, to do what Thou lovest and art pleased with, and ordain for him what will profit him in the world to come and in this world. Verily Thou art the Judge, the Doer, the Willer, the Powerful, the Mighty.
BH05308: O handmaidens of God, the Most Holy, the Most…
O handmaidens of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!
We have heard the call of My servants and My handmaidens from all directions. Blessed is the handmaiden who has turned to Me and said:
“I believe in Thee, O Sovereign of existence and Educator of the seen and unseen! Praise be to Thee for having made Thyself known unto me, and for having cast upon me Thy remembrance, and caused me to hear Thy call when Thou didst come with Thy name, the Self-Subsisting.”
O My handmaidens! Hearken unto the call of God. Verily it has been raised from the direction of the Prison, and summoneth all unto the Manifestation of His Self, yet the people hear not. All things have heard it, save those who wander in the wilderness of self and desire—these are a people who perceive not. The very rock crieth out in My Name, yet most among creation understand not. Give thanks unto God for having found the fragrance of holiness from this Garment, through which the fragrance of God, the Help in Peril, the Mighty, the Beloved, hath been diffused. Hold fast unto this Cord whereby have held fast honored servants whom neither the tyranny of the oppressor nor the ascendancy of the deniers of God could frighten when He came with manifest sovereignty. Bear witness even as God hath witnessed that there is none other God but Him. He hath ever been exalted above the comprehension of His creation. He Who speaketh is the Manifestation of His Self, the Dawning-Place of His signs and the Dayspring of His Revelation. Whoso turneth unto Him hath turned unto God, the Mighty, the Loving. Praise be unto God, the Lord of what was and what shall be.
BH05336: As to what his honor Ha’, upon him be…
As to what his honor Ha’, upon him be all the Most Glorious and Most Resplendent Glory, had requested regarding permission for his brother to attain the presence—at present this land is in utmost turmoil and soon that which is hidden shall be made manifest in it. Were We to desire its tranquility and stability and My establishment therein, We would decree whatsoever We wish. Verily thy Lord is the One Who decrees whatsoever He willeth. As to what was mentioned regarding certain ones—special bounty has been manifested and sent for all. If one bearing the name of Ha’ desires divine favors for all things, all this bounty shall descend upon him—the Glory of God and His praise and the remembrance of God and His mercy and His forgiveness.
Convey greetings to his honor Nabil, upon him be the Glory of God, and likewise to his honor Khalil and Ustad and the others. The grace and favor of God has encompassed and will continue to encompass all. Let Khalil not be saddened—God shall soon open before his face the gates of mercy. Verily He is the Guardian of all creation. Regarding his honor Aqa Shaykh ʿAli—with his illness, travel is not permitted. God willing, after partaking of the Kawthar of health and well-being, may they arise to fulfill that which they have been commanded. We beseech God to make them among those for whom He has ordained the meeting in this world and the next and in all the worlds of His worlds. Verily He is the All-Powerful, the Almighty.
BH05341: In the Name of God, the Most Mighty…
In the Name of God, the Most Mighty, the Most Great, the Most Glorious! Through My remembrance have the veils been rent asunder, through My Name hath the land been illumined, and through My sovereignty have the foundations of them that denied God, the Powerful, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, been made to tremble. Through My imprisonment hath the Sun of Power shone forth, and through My tribulation hath My Cause been exalted and My Beauty appeared, would ye but know it. When We reached the abode of tribulation, We delivered unto all the Message of God, the Lord of Names, and now We sit upon the throne and summon all unto God, the Mighty, the Powerful.
O people! Answer Him Who calleth you unto God, then cast away what ye possess of idle fancies. The Sun of Certitude hath dawned with a radiance that no veils of the world can withhold. Arise in My Name, then speak forth My praise amidst them that are heedless in these days wherein God calleth aloud with the most exalted call: “Unto Me, unto Me, O concourse of the heedless ones!”
By My life! I have desired naught for Myself, but rather your nearness unto the station which, were ye to behold it, would cause you to swoon forthwith, and upon arising [ye would say]: “Praise be unto Thee, O God of the worlds!”
Draw nigh with your hearts unto the direction of the Beloved. Cast away the allusions of them who have denied God after He came from the Dayspring of the Cause with manifest sovereignty. Thus have We sent down unto thee the verses that thine eyes may be consoled. Then, when thou hast attained, turn toward the direction of the Intended One and say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O Beloved of the heavens and the earth!”
BH05399: Glorified art Thou, O my God, O God…
In His Name, the One Who rules over all names!
Glorified art Thou, O my God, O God of all names and Creator of the heavens! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast made it to rule over all things, that Thou ordain for Thy servants and creatures that which will lead them to the shade of the Tree of Thy Oneness and cause them to hear the cooing of the Dove of Thy transcendent Unity. O Lord! Deprive them not of the outpourings of the ocean of Thy bounty, nor keep them far from the horizon whence the sun of Thy favors hath shone forth. O Lord! Thou knowest that in this Cause I have desired naught but what Thou didst desire, and therefore there hath befallen me that which none knoweth save Thy Self, Who ruleth over all created things.
By Thy glory, O Thou Who art the Desire of the worlds and the Beloved of the sincere ones! The harm inflicted by Thy servants in Thy path cannot deter me from Thy love, nor can the might of Thy creatures frighten me. I call upon Thee at all times that verily Thou art the All-Merciful—there is no God but Thee, the All-Glorious, the All-Praised. O Lord! Thou seest that one of Thy servants hath turned to a place concerning which Thy creatures and people have differed, seeking from it the wondrous gifts of Thy bounty and the manifestations of Thy grace. O Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy hidden Name, which none hath known whether past or future, that Thou send down upon him from the heaven of Thy grace that which will make him rich through Thy riches and strengthened through Thy confirmations. Verily, Thou hast power over whatsoever Thou willest, and Thou art the Bestower, the Bountiful, the Forgiver, the Generous.
BH05508: The Most Great, Most Holy, Most Glorious Book hath…
The Most Great, Most Holy, Most Glorious Book hath been sent down in truth from the heaven of the will of your Lord, the Most High, the Great. Through it laws have been ordained and paths made manifest for all who are in the heavens and on earth.
O people! Act in accordance with what ye have been commanded in the Tablets, and follow not the ways of the ignorant ones who have cast the ordinances of God behind their backs and followed the ways of the fabricators—they who have taken a word from the Book and interpreted it according to their desires. These, verily, are among the perverters. They have perverted the Most Exalted Word which speaketh in the heaven of immortality: “There is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Bountiful.”
Say: O people! Fear God and follow not those who have disbelieved after the clear proofs came unto them from every direction and the horizon of Revelation shone forth with this Great Name. Would ye deny God after He hath appeared with His sovereignty, or would ye deny what hath appeared from Him after it hath encompassed the worlds? Beware lest desire deprive you of equity or prejudice cause you to rise up against God, the Protector, the Mighty, the Powerful. Fear God and dispute not with Him through Whom the horizon of utterance hath dawned and the Tongue of Grandeur hath spoken:
“The Kingdom belongeth unto God, the One, the Single, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.”
Thus have We strengthened thee with this Tablet from which shine forth the lights of wisdom and utterance from the presence of One Mighty, Praiseworthy. And We have wafted unto thee the fragrance of the Ridvan from this exalted and inaccessible Station.
BH05534: This is a mention from the Prisoner unto him…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!
This is a mention from the Prisoner unto him who, when he heard the call from the direction of grandeur, turned with his heart and was numbered among the successful ones. Blessed is the ear that hath heard the call of its Lord, and the hand that hath taken hold of the Tablet of God, the Almighty, the All-Knowing. Hearts have been created to turn towards the Kaaba of the Desired One, faces to be directed to this noble prospect, breasts to safeguard their Lord’s trust, and the tongue for this exalted remembrance.
Blessed is the heart that hath soared on the wings of certitude in the atmosphere of the All-Merciful, and the cheek that hath reddened from the heat of its Lord’s love, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. O loved ones of God! Be steadfast in the Cause of God, then speak unto the servants that which will draw them nigh unto God, the Lord of all worlds. Every Tablet that hath been sent down in truth is a proof for all who are in the heavens and on earth. The unity-professing ones behold from its horizon the sun of grandeur and power, while those who are heedless are numbered among the dead. We have set forth the verses in every manner and manifested power through My mighty and powerful sovereignty. Among the people are those who have recognized and prostrated themselves before their Lord’s face, and among them are those who have seen and turned away from God, the Lord of the mighty throne. Grieve not at anything. Put thy trust in God. Verily, He protecteth whom He willeth through His sovereignty and ordaineth for whomsoever He desireth that which draweth him nigh unto Him. He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Praised.
BH05536: This is the Book of God, revealed for all…
He is the Most Great, the Most Holy
This is the Book of God, revealed for all else besides Him, that the servants might hearken to the call of their Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower, and read it and ponder what hath been revealed therein of the mysteries of God, the Powerful, the Unconstrained. O My loved ones! Be not perturbed by the onslaught of them that have denied the All-Merciful, nor follow every idolatrous deceiver. Leave what the people possess and take what ye have been commanded by God, the Mighty, the Compelling. Verily, they that are heedless this day are in doubt and schism, and they that have turned towards Him are of the people of Baha, whose names have been set down by the Pen of Revelation in the Scriptures and Tablets. When thou drinkest the choice wine of utterance from the cups of the words of thy Lord, the Revealer of verses, arise with supreme steadfastness, then make mention of thy Lord amongst the servants.
Thus have We caused to shine upon thee from the horizon of grace the sun of wisdom and utterance. Be thou thankful and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou in Whose grasp is the dominion of earth and heaven. They that were prevented from attaining unto the presence in those days have no cause for grief, for the oppressors have come between Us and those who turned towards the dawning-place of the bounty of their Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower. He that hath turned with his heart towards the direction of God, there hath been written down for him the reward of one who hath drawn nigh and attained. Thus doth God single out for His grace whomsoever He pleaseth. He, verily, is the Protector of whoso befriendeth Him, and He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
BH05538: The Most Holy, the Most Glorious. This…
The Most Holy, the Most Glorious. This is a Book for him who hath heard the Call and responded thereunto. By virtue of this his name hath been recorded before the Throne and there hath been sent down for him that which shall solace the eyes of them that have recognized.
Hearken unto the Call of thy Lord, the Most Glorious: Verily, there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Bountiful. Blessed is he that heareth and seeth, and turneth toward the Most Luminous Horizon. Blessed is the learned one who hath cast away idle fancy and laid hold on certitude when the Self-Subsisting appeared with clear sovereignty.
Say: O concourse of divines! Rend ye asunder the greatest veil, then hasten with your hearts unto the Most Luminous Horizon wherein the Lord of Destiny hath manifested Himself through His Most Great Name. Thou hast indeed held fast unto the cord of the Command and clung to the hem of God, the Mighty, the All-Wise.
Ponder thou upon the days of God and His power and what hath appeared from Him when He was imprisoned, that thou mayest be assured of the sovereignty of thy Ancient Lord. The fragrances of that which hath streamed from the Most Exalted Pen have encompassed all things, yet the people are in strange heedlessness. The Cry hath been raised, yet they slumber; nay, they are as the dead, save him whom the breeze of reunion hath stirred and whom the hand of grace hath admitted into an exalted station.
Arise in My Name and remind the people of this mighty Cause, that perchance they may arise from the slumber of vain desire, turning toward My Kingdom, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. The glory be upon thee and upon them who have cast away the world in the name of their Lord, the Most Glorious, and have turned with their hearts toward the Beloved of the worlds.
BH05577: O people of insight! Where are your bygone days…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!
O people of insight! Where are your bygone days and where is what has passed? Seize ye this Day wherein the Face hath shone forth before all eyes. Will man or aught else in creation endure? By thy Lord, the Merciful! All that is thereon shall pass away, and sovereignty belongeth unto God, the Mighty, the Gracious. Where are the tyrants and the pharaohs? We have returned them to the abyss. Verily thy Lord is severe in punishment. Would any person of understanding cling to that which perisheth? Nay, by Him Who revealeth the mysteries! How many servants have been beguiled by the world to such extent that they denied God and opposed His Messengers! We granted them a fixed term as a wisdom from Us, until their appointed time had come. Then did We seize them and leave them in the fires. They that hasten unto the idol, turning away from the Divine Realm—these shall find no protector with Us. They have lost who have changed God’s command according to their own desires and denied God’s truth after He came with sovereignty, grandeur and power.
Say: O people! Would ye reject the truth through your own devices? Consider, then, those parties that came before you. We sent unto them Messengers, but they denied Our Cause. Then did We seize them and make them a lesson for those possessed of insight. Thus have We caused to shine forth for thee from the horizon of utterance the Sun of remembrance and explanation, that thou mayest rejoice and arise to praise thy Lord amongst His servants.
BH05767: O Thou Handmaiden of God, O Most Exalted, Most…
O Thou Handmaiden of God, O Most Exalted, Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious Peacock of Divine Unity! Glory be unto Thee, O my God!
Thou seest how Thy servants have turned toward the direction of Thy nearness and Thy presence, after Thou didst call them with Thy call and command them to appear before the throne of Thy grandeur. When their hearts were attracted by the wonders of Thy verses and they hastened to the Dayspring of Thy oneness, the oppressors prevented them from entering the City wherein Thy call was raised and the throne of Thy mercy was established.
O Lord! Send down from the heaven of Thy power that which will draw them nigh unto Thy presence and cause them to partake of the Salsabil of Thy favors from the hands of Thy grace and bounty.
O Lord! They are the poor, and Thou art the Strong, the Trustworthy. They are the weak, and Thou art the Powerful, the Mighty, the All-Wise. Take their hands with the hands of Thy power, then cause them to enter the pavilion of Thy grandeur—the place round which circle the people of the Supreme Concourse and the dwellers of the cities of Names—that they may hear Thy call and behold Thy beauty. Thou art, verily, powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and Thou art the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.
O Lord! Assist Thy loved ones to remember and praise Thee, then ordain for them what Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones. Thou art He Who hath ever been powerful over what Thou willest and shalt ever remain sovereign over what Thou desirest. There is no God but Thee, the Almighty, the All-Powerful.
BH05696: O Ali-Qabli-Akbar! God willing, may you be joyous…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
O Ali-Qabli-Akbar! God willing, may you be joyous and successful through the favors of the Lord of Lords, and may you drink at all times from the wine of the mercy of the All-Merciful. Most of the petitions from the people have not reached the Presence due to the obstruction and interception by the highwaymen who block the path of the All-Merciful. However, your petition arrived at the Seat of Divine Unity and was grasped by the hand of grace, and the glance of favor beheld it. Blessed are you and blessed is he who has attained to this mighty grace. For you is written the reward of one who has attained His presence. Verily, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful. For in these days the path is blocked by reason of that which the hands of the oppressors have wrought. Be content with that which God has been content with—this is better for you, were you of those who know.
O Yahya! Your mention was in the letter, and you had asked for eternal life. The Kawthar of divine grace flows in the chalices of words—take and drink, and say: “Praise be to Thee, O Lord of the worlds!” Since harm in coming and going has befallen the very root of the Tree of the Cause, We have therefore forbidden the friends from attaining the presence—otherwise We would have commanded all to attend, for We have come especially for this grace—to give all to drink from the Kawthar of life, the mention of the All-Merciful. The Glory be upon you.
BH05660: In the name of God, the Most Holy! I…
In the name of God, the Most Holy! I bear witness to that which God hath testified—that there is none other God but Him, and that He Who speaketh today is indeed the Manifestation of His Cause unto all who dwell in the realms of being. They who have turned away this day are sunk in heedlessness and error.
Beware, O peoples of the earth, lest ye deprive yourselves of this bounty which hath appeared in human form. Cast away what ye possess and turn unto God, the Lord of creation. We desire naught but what God hath desired, and because of this there hath befallen Us that which hath caused all atoms to lament.
Say: O people! This is He Who was promised unto you in the Books and Tablets. By my Lord, the Most Merciful! Were it not for Him, neither would the Bayan have been revealed nor would that which was sent down upon the Dawning-Places of Revelation throughout the ages. Blessed art thou for having turned unto God and desired the desire of all who are in earth and heaven.
Among the people are those who remain veiled and those who have rent asunder the veils through this Name before which all necks have bowed low. Unite, O My loved ones, in this Cause, for by it are the hearts of the wicked thrown into turmoil. Make mention of your Lord amongst His servants, that the fragrance of remembrance may embrace all lands.
Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them unto thee as a token of Our grace. Verily thy Lord is the Almighty, the Unconstrained.
BH05900: In the Name that is sanctified above all names…
In the Name that is sanctified above all names and designations! Your letter was presented before the Most Holy Court and the eye of divine favor was directed towards it. Praise be to the Beloved of all creation, that thou hast attained unto His recognition and turned thyself unto the Dawning-Place of His Cause. This is among the great bounties of the Lord.
That which is incumbent upon the loved ones of God today is to conduct themselves in such wise among the people that all beings may inhale from those souls the divine fragrance. The guidance of creatures hath ever been through the character and deeds of souls who have turned unto Him. Divine confirmations do at all times assist such souls.
Be not saddened by certain worldly conditions, but arise to serve the Cause. With wondrous and sublime utterances and goodly remembrances, remind the people, that perchance dead souls may attain unto eternal life through the divine breath. Today all must arise to that which hath been mentioned.
By Him Who holdeth my soul in His hand! Whoso acteth according to that which hath been commanded, in His love and good-pleasure, God will assist him in all conditions and will open before his face the doors of goodness. Verily, He is the Guardian of good deeds.
Blessed art thou, inasmuch as thy letter hath been presented before the Throne and there hath been sent down for thee from the Source of verses that which shall eternalize thy mention, through God, the Almighty, the Mighty, the All-Wise.
BH05944: O My handmaiden! Hearken unto the call of thy…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
O My handmaiden! Hearken unto the call of thy Lord from this Tree which hath been raised up in truth—verily there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise. Thy name hath been mentioned before the Throne and there have been sent down for thee clear verses which neither the realities of creation nor whatsoever hath been created in the heavens and earths can equal.
When thou hast attained unto them, hold fast to the hem of thy Lord’s loving-kindness, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful. The Tongue of Grandeur calleth out to all who are in the kingdom of creation, morning and evening, yet the people remain in manifest remoteness. The horizon of possibility hath been illumined by the name of thy Lord, the All-Merciful, yet the people remain behind a mighty veil. Hold fast unto the Ultimate Tree, then detach thyself from all else—thus doth thy Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, command thee.
We counsel Our male and female servants to show forth the utmost steadfastness in the Cause of their Lord, the Possessor of Names. We beseech God to protect them from the schemes of those who have denied God’s proof and His evidence, God’s power and His sovereignty, and who wander through homes and marketplaces seeking to lead people astray from the straight path of God, the Truth. Be thankful for having attained unto the remembrance of thy Lord, then remain steadfast in the Cause. Thus have We counseled the handmaidens before, and in this luminous Tablet.
BH05818: The contingent world hath been adorned with the appearance…
He is the Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious
The contingent world hath been adorned with the appearance of the All-Merciful, yet the people remain in heedlessness and behind a veil. They have clung to their desires and turned away from guidance. Verily they are among the people of the fire.
Among them are those who cling to idle fancies, turning away from Him through Whom the horizon of certitude hath shone forth. And among them are those who cling to what their leaders possess, heedless of Him through Whom the religions were established.
Say: O peoples of the worlds! How long will ye slumber upon the couch of heedlessness and desire? Lift up your heads—the Truth hath come with power and sovereignty. The tales of the ancients profit you not this Day, nor what ye possess of the interpretations of the misguided.
Open your eyes—this is the sealed wine. Drink ye from the hands of the bounty of your Lord, the Master of the Day of Mutual Calling. Doth what ye possess profit you? Nay, by the Cleaver of the Dawn!
Leave what the people possess and hold fast unto this Cord which hath appeared in truth from your Lord, the Self-Sufficient, the Most High. Beware lest ye follow those who have denied the signs of God and have spoken what they possess of conjectures and idle fancies.
Break the chains of blind imitation through My Name, the All-Powerful over creation. Thus have We moved the Pen of Command that those who have come before the Face on this Day might rejoice—a Day wherein feet have slipped.
BH05828: The Most Great, the Most Holy. There has come…
The Most Great, the Most Holy. There has come before the Face a seal ring whereon thy name is inscribed; therefore hath the Tongue of Him Whom God hath made the Dawning-Place of His signs and the Source of His mighty and impregnable Command spoken in thy remembrance. Blessed is the name unto which the gaze of God hath been directed, and the soul that hath been mentioned by the Pen of God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
Know thou that We have borne in God’s path what no one among His servants hath borne. To this testifieth every fair-minded and well-informed one. While in Ta (Tehran) We were in chains and fetters, and in Iraq We were in the midst of the idolaters. We manifested might when We were in the depths of abasement, and appeared with power and evident sovereignty. We departed from Iraq in such wise that necks were bowed before the name of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, until the heedless ones brought Us to the Most Great Prison. Then We rent asunder the veils and manifested the Cause openly, whereupon the fire of hatred blazed in the breasts of them that disbelieved in God, the Lord of the worlds. Then they removed Us from there and brought Us to this Great Prison. Yet in all circumstances We summoned the people unto God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
Blessed is he who hath heard the Call and answered his Ancient Lord. Rejoice thou in thy soul for that thou hast been mentioned before the Face and wert among those who remember. By My life, through the presence of thy name before the Throne, an exalted station hath been ordained for thee.
BH05710: Hearken to the call of the sorrowful Prisoner, Who…
He is God, exalted be His station, the Greatness and Power!
Hearken to the call of the sorrowful Prisoner, Who summons thee from the horizon of the manifest Prison and calls thee to the truth. Praise be to the Beloved of the world Who enabled and assisted thee in that whose effects shall endure throughout the kingdom of earth and heaven. Though today ye yourselves perceive it not, yet days shall come forth from the treasuries of divine purpose and the horizon of the merciful Will when your deed shall become manifest among all creatures and be mentioned by every tongue. We beseech God to grant you such success that ye may partake of the Kawthar of the All-Merciful, which floweth from the right hand of divine Will, detached from all else save Him. We have summoned thee for the sake of God and desire naught for thee save good. We hope that henceforth, turning thy gaze unto God, thou wilt occupy thyself in service to the Manifestation of His Cause. The reward of no one hath been or shall be lost. Every deed performed for God—its fragrance shall never be cut off and its fruits shall return to the doer in this world and the next. His knowledge encompasseth all things. He is indeed the Ruler, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH05718: Ponder, O My loved ones, upon this wondrous One…
He is the Most Ancient, the Most Ancient
Ponder, O My loved ones, upon this wondrous One through Whom hath appeared the decree of creation. Blessed is he who hath recognized and hath said: “Praise be unto Thee, O God of the worlds!” This is the Originator of the heavens and the earth, Who hath no likeness among similitudes and no peer from aforetime. Ponder that ye may know what your All-Knowing, All-Wise Lord hath intended.
By God! Through Him hath shone forth the Luminary of creation and every wondrous command hath been established. Pay no heed to those who speak according to their desires—they are indeed among the heedless. Verily, he who speaketh the truth desireth naught but your own good, as every truthful and trustworthy one doth testify. He hath borne what no one before Him hath borne, and hath seen what the eyes of the Messengers have not seen. Blessed is he who pondereth upon this Revelation and what hath appeared in its days—We testify that he is among those endowed with discernment. We beseech God to assist the people of Baha to remain steadfast in His Cause and to act in accordance with what they have been commanded in a perspicuous Tablet. Well is it with thee for having attained unto the days of thy Lord and for having turned unto God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy. Be thou steadfast through the power and might of God—verily He is with His steadfast servants. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!
BH05701: O leaf! God willing, mayest thou be detached…
He is the Most Holy, Most Glorious!
O leaf! God willing, mayest thou be detached from creation and hold fast unto the Truth. Today all relationships are severed, for the Truth exists and relationship to Him is the essential purpose. Hold fast unto the relationship of thy Lord, the Most High, the Great. Be not grieved by events that have transpired. Strive that thy relationship with the Truth become firm. This is the foundation of deeds and the sovereign of relationships.
If thou desirest a helper, verily He is thy helper. If thou desirest a supporter, verily He is thy supporter. If thou desirest a father, by My life He is more compassionate than one. If thou desirest brothers, verily He is more merciful than they unto thee. Hold fast unto this All-Merciful, All-Affectionate, All-Forgiving, Mighty, Generous One.
That which hath flowed from the Most Ancient Pen—thou shalt behold its effect, were the relationship to these ones, their deeds, and the fabrications of their tongues not to prevent thee. Leave them to their vain imaginings and hold fast unto this firm and mighty cord.
Thou hast been and, God willing, shall remain accounted of God. Make thy heart a place for the love of thy One, Mighty, Peerless Lord. Thus doth the Supreme Pen command thee, as a grace from His presence unto thee. Read thou what hath been revealed for thee, then act upon that which thou hast been commanded with clear certitude. Verily the glory be upon thee and upon those with thee from God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH05881: A Book which hath been sent down in truth…
He is the Most Ancient, the Most Great
A Book which hath been sent down in truth from the presence of One Who is All-Knowing, All-Informed. It biddeth all to observe that which is best for them. Blessed is he who followeth that which hath been ordained by One All-Knowing, All-Wise. Beware lest what is in the Books prevent you from this Perspicuous Book.
Beware lest that which ye possess bar you from that which hath been manifested in truth from this luminous Horizon. All Books are dependent upon My Cause and all Remembrances upon My wondrous Remembrance. Should anyone come with the worship of both worlds, it would profit him not so much as a grain of mustard seed except through a word of acceptance sent down from this ancient Station. Nothing will suffice them today, nor will the tales of those gone before profit them. Cast away vain desire, for guidance standeth before your faces. Hold fast unto it and be not of the heedless ones. He calleth you for the sake of God—verily He is independent of all worlds. Blessed is he who hath inhaled the fragrance of reunion and attained unto the knowledge of God, the Sovereign, the Almighty, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Woe unto him who hath turned away from the Truth and followed every heedless and remote one.
Hold thou fast unto the cord of thy Lord’s loving-kindness and be thou of those who are detached. Grieve not over anything, and despair not of the Spirit of God. Verily He is the protector of those who turn unto Him. There is none other God but Him, the Forgiving, the Generous.
BH05733: Give praise to the peerless Lord that thou hast…
Give praise to the peerless Lord that thou hast drunk from the cup of bounty from the hands of divine favors and hast attained thereunto. Blessed art thou that thou art engaged in His remembrance among the handmaidens and art turned toward the direction of His grace. This is the Day when the soul-entrancing call of the Lord of Names is raised from the right side of the luminous Spot.
Acceptable is the soul that hath hearkened with the ear of the spirit to the call of the All-Merciful and hath attained unto its sweetness. After the completion of creation, between the right and the left in the Most Holy and Exalted Court, there was outwardly no distinction. After the utterance of the Word that both united and separated, addressing the Hands We said: “Take hold of whichever hand is first raised and turns in acceptance.” That hand was honored with the robe of acceptance and was designated as “the right.” Observe this same principle throughout all creation.
Blessed is the hand that today hath attained unto the Tablet of God, detached from all else save Him, and through the power of the Most Great Name hath taken hold of it and hath drunk and given to drink the Water of Life that lay hidden within the chalices of the words of the All-Merciful. Draw thou My handmaidens through My remembrance, then recite unto them that which hath been sent down from the Pen of My Command, that they may soar in the atmosphere of the love of their Lord, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
BH05889: The Leaf of Paradise hath been presented before…
He is the Most Great, the Most Holy
The Leaf of Paradise hath been presented before the Countenance and is illumined by the light of presence. That which was mentioned therein hath been noted. Praise be to the Beloved of the world, that thou art attracted to His love, art gazing toward His horizon, art steadfast in His Cause and mindful of His remembrance.
Thou must needs be so steadfast that if from the horizon of the Cause there should appear a decree contrary to the desire of all who are on earth, thou wouldst say in utmost steadfastness: “This indeed is the truth.” The mightiest of all things is steadfastness, and the greater the Cause, the more numerous its trials. If souls truly knew God doeth whatsoever He willeth, and were in truth assured of this blessed word, no one would ever object to the Truth. The Beloved said to His loved one: “Be thou steadfast as thou hast been commanded.” From this pure and blessed word the station of steadfastness and its greatness is evident and clear. God willing, mayest thou ever drink from this cup and attain unto this station.
Thy mention hath been and is before the Throne. Be not saddened by conflicting matters. God willing, all shall be set aright. Complete what thou hast in hand. Verily He will assist thee that there may remain from thee that which shall be adorned with the ornament of thy Lord’s remembrance, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. The glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee, from One mighty and great.
BH05874: A Book from Us to him who hath attained…
He is the Most Holy, Most Exalted, Most Wondrous
A Book from Us to him who hath attained unto the Most Great Ocean when he turned towards the Dawning-Place of eternity, Who hath come from the heaven of God, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Most Great.
The world hath been honored by the appearance of God, the Lord of all nations, yet most of the people remain heedless. The Dawning-Place of Names hath appeared from the horizon of eternity, yet every doubting idolater hath veiled himself therefrom.
Say: O people, open your eyes! This is your Lord, the Chosen One, Who calleth you from the most exalted station with a wondrous tongue saying: Abandon the people and what they possess. They have clung to the idols of their own selves and are not among those who perceive.
O ʿAli! Blessed art thou for having attained unto His presence, visited Him and dwelt in the vicinity of thy Lord. Thus did God single thee out for His love and preferred thee above most of the people. Be thou thankful and be of those who give thanks.
We have become aware of what befell thy father at the hands of the oppressors. Previously there was sent down for him a Tablet the like of which all that is on earth cannot equal. Verily thy Lord is the Almighty, the All-Powerful. Blessed is he for having borne afflictions even as his Lord did bear them. He is indeed among the sincere ones.
We beseech God to aid him and thee to serve Him under all conditions. Verily He is the Truth, the Most Exalted, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH05692: O Dhabih, thou didst write about Shah-Mirza. It…
O Dhabih, thou didst write about Shah-Mirza. It is known to that being that from the Divine Source hath been revealed a binding decree whereby We have forbidden all peoples from strife and contention, from the shedding of blood, and from matters that are prohibited and that their minds abhor, to such an extent that it hath been explicitly revealed in most Tablets.
Nevertheless, the heedless souls have not awakened, and at all times have been and are opposed to the Tree of the All-Merciful and its branches, twigs, leaves and fruits. In such circumstances, the very deeds of these people have been and will be the cause for the appearance of the small Shah-Mirza and the very great Shah-Mirza and similar servants, that perchance they may become a balm for the wounds in the hearts of the oppressed.
O Dhabih, oppression itself giveth rise to the manifestation of might and wrath. If thou wouldst observe with the eye of truth, all people deserve punishment, for they are engaged in oppression, save those whom thy Lord willeth. Nevertheless, God, in His name the All-Merciful, the Most Merciful, doth observe, and therefore hath not desired and doth not desire that anyone should oppose another.
Let them leave the oppressor to God and be patient in adversities. This is the truth and the station of the people of truth, and beyond truth there is naught but error.
BH05915: This is a Tablet from Us to the one…
He is the Most Mighty, the Most Great
This is a Tablet from Us to the one who has turned to the Sea and attained the triumph of God, the Mighty, the Generous. the ungodly prevented Us from mentioning God, but We make mention of God in spite of them, for He is the Powerful, the Mighty. In the evening We show them one judgment and at daybreak another judgment, for thy Lord is indeed the All-Patient, the All-Forbearing. The ocean of patience hath encompassed all lands after His knowledge encompassed all the worlds.
O Leaf! By My life, ʿAli hath attained the presence of God, and there hath been ordained for him before the Throne a station that the hands of those who dwell on earth and its dependencies cannot attain, save whom thy Lord willeth, the Mighty, the Generous. Blessed is he who visiteth him in this world, by virtue of what hath flowed from the Most Exalted Pen concerning him.
Verily the Light shining forth from the horizon of eternity is upon thee, O essence of the peoples and he who hath turned to the Most Great Sea. I bear witness that thou hast fulfilled the Covenant of God and His Testament when thou didst break the covenant of the ungodly. Thou art the luminary of faithfulness in this heaven. Upon thee be the Glory of God, the Lord of Names.
God’s curse be upon him who wronged thee and slew thee without clear proof and evidence, and God’s mercy be upon him who visiteth thee with pure intention for the sake of his Lord, the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
BH05730: O Hasan! The glance of loving-kindness hath ever been…
He is the Most Holy, The Most Great
O Hasan! The glance of loving-kindness hath ever been directed towards thee, and the Pen of the Ancient beareth witness to that which hath been mentioned. Despair not of the Spirit of God and His mercy. The foundation of the Cause is to arise to serve God. Thou must arise to serve this Cause with the utmost kindliness, mercy and spiritual qualities. Be not grieved by differences in outward matters. God willing, all shall be set right through divine favor. Be thou confident in thy Lord’s grace and be steadfast in an exalted manner. Whoso ariseth to serve Him, verily He will arise to assist him in all things. By My life, this is a truth like unto His very existence. Rejoice thou in this word which hath issued forth from the horizon of thy Lord’s Will, and be of the thankful ones. The affairs of this land are greatly disturbed. None should journey to this region. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the presence of the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
Convey My greetings to the friends of God, and whenever thou beholdest in any soul the fire of search, mention unto him the Desired One. We beseech God to assist all to do that which He loveth and is pleased with. Convey My greetings to those who are with thee and to thy family, and say: Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.
BH05912: This is Our Book unto one who strove until…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
This is Our Book unto one who strove until he beheld the Dayspring of his Lord’s Cause, the Mighty, the All-Wise, and won through to the Source of the Cause when he entered God’s holy and luminous court. Blessed art thou for having desired what the worlds have desired and sought the One Who is the Goal, until thou didst attain the presence of God, Lord of the mighty Throne. Give thanks unto God for having aided thee to attain His presence and hear His melodies, and for having enabled thee to win the prize of His shining and glorious beauty. Know thou the station of this rank and glorify thy Lord with praise at all times.
O Khalil! Be thou steadfast in God’s Cause in such wise that neither the veils of the heedless nor the opposition of them that have denied the Day of Judgment shall deter thee. Be thou a friend to those who love the Beloved One and an enemy to those who oppose Him. Thus hath the Most Exalted Pen inscribed in a preserved Tablet. We beseech God to assist thee in all conditions and to make thee a champion of His Cause and one who commemorates His Name, the Mighty, the Wondrous.
Convey My greetings to My loved ones who have turned towards God, the King, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Those who have taken partners with God this day are in manifest error. Shun them and put thy trust in God. Verily, He is with His servants who trust in Him.
BH05699: O Majid! We have all come into being…
O Majid! We have all come into being for the victory of God, which is the exaltation of His Word amongst His servants. The Beloved says: “Remember Me, I will remember you.” And it is evident that whoever has turned to the Countenance of the All-Glorious has never been, and shall never be, deprived of the outpourings of His mercy. God willing, we must all remain steadfast on the path of His love and detached from aught else.
You have always been before Our gaze and are mentioned in the Most Great Scene. This is that which has endured and shall endure, and all else shall perish—and thy Lord is the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. All that hath befallen you in the path of God is known in His presence. We beseech Him to assist you in all conditions to remember and praise Him and follow His Cause. Verily He is powerful over all things. O Majid! There is no greater thing than steadfastness. We must ask of God to make us firm and steadfast in this Most Great Cause. Blessed art thou and blessed is he who attains unto it. Convey My greetings to the guests and her sisters and her daughter and her daughter’s children and her daughter’s daughter. All are mentioned in the Most Great Scene and are reckoned before God. God willing, may you be engaged in the remembrance of the All-Merciful with the utmost joy and delight.
BH05697: O youth! The Eye of God is gazing upon…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
O youth! The Eye of God is gazing upon thee from the horizon of the Prison. Strive thou in thy youth to become illumined with divine attributes and the Most Glorious Lights. These are days the like of which have never been witnessed. Alas for those souls who in such days have clung to the cord of vain imaginings and remained deprived of the Lord of all beings.
The life of the soul hath ever depended upon the waters of the remembrance of the All-Merciful. Should the heart of man be quickened by these subtle spiritual waters, it will abide and endure forever. The lamp of the heart is the love of God—kindle it with the oil of remembrance, that through the assistance of this remembrance, the lamp of love may shine forth with perfect light and radiance, and through that light the inner world may illumine the outer. This is the counsel of truth that hath flowed from the Pen of Command. Blessed art thou and blessed is every hearing and discerning one.
Verily thy father is before the Throne—be thou assured and be of the thankful ones. Convey My greetings to thy mother and brother, then to those who have believed in God, the Single, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. May the glory rest upon thee and upon those who have turned to this shining Countenance.
BH05790: Blessed art thou, O my handmaiden, in that thou…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great
Blessed art thou, O my handmaiden, in that thou hast rent asunder the veils and recognized thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing, Who hath been imprisoned in the most desolate of lands by reason of that which the hands of the servants have wrought—they whom the world hath deluded in such wise that they turned away from the Word of God and opposed him who bore it in truth from the presence of the Lord of the Day of Judgment.
Verily, she who hath believed is assuredly numbered with the denizens of the All-Glorious Paradise in the sight of God, the Lord of the beginning and the end. Blessed art thou and blessed is thy brother whom We have related to the Tree. By My life! He is among those who have attained unto the lights of guidance—to this doth the Tongue of God, the King, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, bear witness.
Grieve thou not over anything. Put thy trust in Him at all times. He, verily, is the Mighty, the Helper. God will soon make manifest the excellence of those who have believed in Him and turned away from every doubting misbeliever. Glorify thy Lord with praise, then prostrate thyself in His days. Thus doth the Pen of God, the Originator of creation, command thee.
We beseech God to ordain for you that which is best with Him. He, verily, is the Almighty, the Unconstrained. Blessed is the woman who hath heard and turned towards God; woe unto him who hath denied God, the Mighty, the All-Bestowing. Rejoice thou in that thou hast been mentioned in the Supreme Concourse by the Most Glorious Pen. This is from the grace of thy Lord, the Self-Sufficient, the Most High.
The glory from God, the One Who causeth the rivers to flow, be upon you all.
BH05850: Say: O people of the Throne! Hearken unto…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
Say: O people of the Throne! Hearken unto the call of your Lord, the Chosen One, from around the Fire which hath appeared through the heat of the Word: Verily there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Compelling. Worship ye none but God alone—this is a word whereby the eyes of the people of Baha have been gladdened and the hearts of those who disbelieved were troubled when the Lord came with power and authority.
We have heard thy call when thou didst call upon God, the Creator of all possibilities, and We have answered thee through this Tablet from which the believers perceive the fragrance of the garment of their Lord, the Mighty, the Bestower. Those who rely upon their own vain imaginings are indeed wrapped in heedlessness and error.
Blessed is he who hath relied upon this Most Great Proof whereby the Most Straight Path hath been made manifest, and woe unto him who hath turned away and followed every doubting idolater.
Arise in the Cause of thy Lord in such wise that neither the oppression of the oppressors nor the turning away of the people of the lands shall deter thee. God will soon aid those who have turned to the Countenance and will make their names a remembrance unto those in all regions.
It behooveth everyone who hath turned today to make mention of his Lord with wisdom and utterance, that perchance the people may become aware through His remembrance and hearken unto the decisive Word.
The glory be upon thee and upon those who have attained unto this bounty which hath encompassed the horizons.
BH05668: O servant! Burn away desires with the fire…
He is the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious
O servant! Burn away desires with the fire of the love of thy Lord, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted. Then reflect upon the final outcome. Thus doth the All-Glorious command thee. Verily, He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Make His Cause thy desire and thy deeds what thou art commanded by the Mighty, the Powerful. Verily, whoso is not attracted today by the Call of God is accounted among the heedless.
Thy letter hath come before the Countenance. We took it and read it and have answered thee with this perspicuous Book. Thus hath been ordained for thee a noble station, if thou remainest steadfast in the love of thy Lord and utterest His praise amongst His servants. This behooveth thee, if thou be of them that know. Hearken unto the Call from the direction of grandeur and power—verily there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Powerful. Rend asunder the veils through the sovereignty of thy Lord, the Master of all necks, then turn thy face toward the Cause and say:
“O my God! I have come unto Thee, detached from all else save Thee and turning away from those who disputed with Thee and denied Thy proof. O Lord! Ordain for me what is best for me. Verily, Thou art the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.”
Give thanks unto God for having sent down unto thee this Tablet wherein God hath taught thee what He desired. Be thou of the thankful ones. Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.
BH05685: The Most Great, the Most Holy
The Most Great, the Most Holy
O handmaiden of God! God willing, mayest thou be gladdened by the fragrances of the grace of the Revealer of Verses, and be occupied at all times with the mention and praise of the Beloved of all creation. Praise be to the Ancient Beauty that ye are reckoned as His own and are attributed unto Him. This is a bounty which, were ye to offer thanks throughout the duration of the kingdom of earth and heaven, ye would never be able to adequately acknowledge. Know ye the value of this most great favor and supreme gift, which is accounted as the most great grace before God. Be ye uttering His praise with the utmost joy and exultation, and be ye acting according to His command.
Mirza Aqa has traversed land and sea, arrived at the shore of the Most Great Ocean, attained that which was destined for him, and was given permission to return. He will recount the details of this land and whatever has transpired. Ye must never be saddened, for whatever has occurred has been in the path of God. Blessed are those souls who have been patient and grateful in times of tribulation. Divine tests have ever been and will ever be, through which the good became distinguished from the evil, and the righteous separated from the wicked. Convey My sublime greetings to all the handmaidens of God. The glory be upon you and upon those who are with you.
BH05769: The All-Glorious, the Most Holy
The All-Glorious, the Most Holy
Glorified art Thou, O my God, O Possessor of eternity! I have taken up the Pen to make mention of him who loved Thee on a day when most of Thy servants had turned away from Thy Kingdom and were estranged from the Dayspring of Thy Revelation, the Source of Thy Cause, and the Dawning-Place of Thy verses, that thereby his remembrance may endure among Thy creatures throughout the perpetuity of Thy Kingdom and dominion. O my Lord! Having singled him out among the nations and associated him with Thy Most Great Remembrance, do Thou illumine his eyes by beholding the horizon whence the Sun of Thy Will hath shone forth with the lights of the glory of Thy oneness, and illumine his heart with the light of Thy countenance.
O my Lord! He hath turned unto Thee and held fast unto the cord of Thy love and favors. Ordain for him in every world of Thy worlds that which befitteth the loftiness of Thy sovereignty and the sublimity of Thy grandeur and power. I beseech Thee, O God of Names and Creator of earth and heaven, by Thy Most Glorious Name through which the standards of Thy Cause were raised up in Thy lands and the banners of Thy dominion were planted in Thy realm, to make him turn his gaze toward Thee, to speak forth Thy praise, and to be directed in all conditions toward the court of Thy grace and bounties. Then ordain for him the good of this world and the world to come. Verily Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever Thou willest. Thou givest unto whomsoever Thou willest whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Almighty, the Glorified, the All-Wise.
BH05811: In the name of God, the Everlasting, the All-Powerful…
In the name of God, the Everlasting, the All-Powerful, the Self-Subsisting! We had previously sent thee a Tablet which beareth witness that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Self-Choosing. Thou didst turn to it and didst accept it with a spirit of submission. Therefore hath this Tablet been sent down once again that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord at eventide and at dawn.
Whoso turneth today is accounted among those who have turned in all the Tablets. Whoso turneth away hath no portion of that which hath been ordained in the highest Paradise by God, the Lord of Names.
Arise to serve thy Lord, the All-Merciful, with spirit and fragrance. We beseech Him, exalted be He, to show thee what thou didst behold in thy dream. He, verily, is the Mighty, the All-Knowing. And may He make thee among those who have aided His Cause and have turned unto Him with radiant faces. Thus hath the decree been ordained from thy Lord, the Lord of all men.
Aid thou His Cause with wisdom—He will aid thee through the truth. There is none other God but Him, the Almighty, the All-Compelling. Be thou steadfast in the Cause, then make mention of thy Lord in such wise that the veils of glory will not prevent thee.
Thus hath the Most Great Ocean surged and there hath flowed from it that whereby thy name shall be established in the Kingdom and thy remembrance in the realm of possibility. Verily, glory be upon thee and upon those who have quaffed the living waters in the days of their Lord, the All-Merciful, and who have rent asunder the veils through power and sovereignty.
BH05877: In the Name of God, the Eternal, Who perisheth…
In the Name of God, the Eternal, Who perisheth not! From the Wronged One unto one of the believers, that the call of this evanescent one may draw him unto God, the Everlasting, the Mighty, the All-Wise.
Bear thou witness unto that whereunto God Himself hath borne witness concerning His Own Self, before the creation of His heavens and His earth, and before the “K” was joined with its “N”: that there is none other God but Him, the All-Subduing, the Self-Subsisting.
Prefer thou obedience unto God above obedience unto any other, and His good pleasure above the pleasure of aught else, that thou mayest be as a crown of piety upon the brow of creation and as the light of guidance unto the eyes of them that have donned the garment of existence.
Let not the world and all that is therein prevent thee from turning toward God, the Lord of all names. Cast aside that which thou art forbidden in the Book, and take hold of that which thou art commanded in a Preserved Tablet.
Say not unto anyone that which thou wouldst not wish to hear from another, and desire not for any soul that which thou wouldst not desire for thyself. Be thou the manifestation of goodly character amidst all creation, that the sincere ones may inhale from thee the fragrance of certitude and the sweet scents of faith in God, the Lord of the seen and the unseen.
Praise thou God, and remember Him at eventide and at dawn, and in every declining and rising of the day. Thus have We made mention of thee and counseled thee purely for the sake of thy Lord, Who overshadoweth all that witnesseth and is witnessed.
BH05910: In the Name of God, the Most Holy…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted! This is a Book from Us to him who answered his Lord when the Call was raised from the right side of the Mount through this Revelation whereby the All-Merciful hath come with manifest sovereignty, that he may hear the Call once again and stand firm in the Cause in such wise that the cawing of those who have denied God, the Lord of all worlds, shall not cause him to slip.
When thou hast been illumined by the splendors of the Tablet and hast recognized what hath been revealed therein, arise and say: O people! The proof hath been perfected, the evidence hath appeared, and the Cry hath been raised between the worlds.
We raised it through a human temple and sent him with a Tablet from thy Lord, the Mighty, the Inaccessible, unto the chief of the oppressors. He lifted up the Tablet with such steadfastness that the denizens of the Concourse on high were amazed, then the dwellers of Paradise and the angels who are nigh unto God. Through this We manifested the power of thy Lord that they might know that neither prison nor tribulation hath prevented the Ancient Beauty from making mention of His Most Great Name.
He speaketh at all times: This is your Lord, the All-Merciful, Who hath come with the truth. Turn unto Him with your hearts and be not of the heedless ones. Through Him the proof of thy Lord hath been completed. He is, verily, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
Thou art to make mention of him in whose countenance thou findest the radiance of the All-Merciful, on behalf of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Thus have We sent down unto thee the verses and dispatched them unto thee. Thy Lord is, verily, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.
BH05957: O Leaf! Hearken unto the Call from the Tongue…
In His Name, the Most Holy, the Most Great, the Most Glorious!
O Leaf! Hearken unto the Call from the Tongue of Oneness, from the presence of the Lord of creation. Verily, there is none other God but Me, the Mighty, the Bountiful. Give thanks unto God for having aided thee to turn unto Him, until thou didst migrate with Him and arrive at this exalted station. Rejoice in Him Who is more merciful to thee than thou art to thine own self, and through Whom thy remembrance shall endure amongst the worlds.
Grieve not for her who hath ascended; verily, she hath soared to the horizon of the loving-kindness of thy Lord, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful. We brought her forth from him who was named Mahmud and returned her to a praiseworthy station. Thus was the matter decreed in a preserved Tablet. We shall, in time, raise up from you both one who shall call out amongst the servants in My Name. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. He giveth what He willeth to whomsoever He pleaseth. He, verily, is the Ruler over what He desireth. Nothing is required of you save steadfastness in My Cause and My love, and whatsoever is besides this resteth with God, the Mighty, the All-Praised. Ye are beneath the canopy of His grace and your affairs are in the grasp of His power. Place your trust in Him under all conditions. Say: Praise be to Thee, O Beloved of them that know, for having singled us out among Thy handmaidens through visitation of Thy presence and for having made us among those who circle round Thy Cause. We testify that Thou art the Most Merciful of the merciful ones and the God of all who are in the heavens and on earth.
BH06181: Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses…
He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious
Glorified is He Who hath sent down the verses in truth and created through them whatsoever He hath willed. He is verily the Powerful, the Unconstrained. All things have submitted to His sovereignty, and through it the mountain of idle fancies hath crumbled. Those who have hesitated are they whom the dust of vain imaginings hath overtaken, whereby they were prevented from the Dayspring of inspiration.
This is the Day wherein the eye of doubt hath been blinded and the vision of certitude hath been gladdened by this Sun which hath shone forth from the horizon of assurance. Are they who have disbelieved possessed of insight? Nay, by thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing! The denizens of the highest paradise and they who soar in this atmosphere wherein wafteth the sweet-scented breezes of revelation with joy and fragrance are amazed at them. Is this Light a veil? Nay, by My Self, rather it is your own eyes that are veiled, O people of the Book! He hath appeared in such wise as hath never appeared its like in all creation, as witnesseth he who hath opened his eyes through the light of recognition. Blessed art thou, O servant, in that thou hast rent asunder the veils and believed in Him through Whom eyes are gladdened and spirits have taken flight. Verily, the Glory from before the Glory be upon him who hath turned unto the Qiblih of existence after all the malicious and the doubtful turned away from it.
BH11912: This is a Book from God, the Mighty…
In the name of Him Who ruleth over whatsoever He pleaseth.
This is a Book from God, the Mighty, the All-Wise, unto him who, when the Call was raised, turned and said: “Yea, O Lord of the worlds!” Blessed is he who hath borne hardships in the love of God and tasted the iron’s taste. He is among the kings of the kingdoms of the Kingdom before his Lord, the Mighty, the Generous.
God shall soon make manifest their worth in the realm of creation, and the tongues of all peoples shall move in their remembrance. Say: O people! Follow not those who follow their idle fancies and spread corruption in the earth—they are indeed among the heedless. Adorn yourselves with the attributes of God—thus have ye been commanded in the Tablets from the presence of One mighty and powerful. Say: Beware lest ye follow those who claim that which God hath not permitted them. By My life! They are among the most lost.
O thou who hast turned to God! Be thou steadfast in the Cause, then remind those in whom thou findest the fragrance of the love of thy Lord. This is what thou hast been commanded by this wondrous Pen. Proclaim from Me unto the faces of those who have turned to the Countenance. Say: Blessed are ye for having attained unto Him Who is the Beloved of the sincere ones. And concerning thy wife—verily she hath an honored station in the Kingdom of her Lord, the Mighty, the Praised.
BH06073: God willing, may you ever drink from the hand…
He is God, exalted be His glory and greatness!
God willing, may you ever drink from the hand of grace and generosity the eternal Kawthar of divine knowledge of the Everlasting Lord. And may you become so intoxicated from this true wine and spiritual nectar that you hear and comprehend the call of “Am I not?” at all times from the dawning-places of names and manifestations of divine attributes of the Divine Being. The divine outpourings are never cut off—at all times the Kawthar of knowledge of the All-Merciful flows and spreads forth from the fountainhead of will, and its bestower is the hands of grace of the Lord. But people, due to heedlessness, have become deprived and forbidden. We beseech God to rend asunder the veil of idle fancies and not deprive any soul of the wondrous favors of His grace. Verily, He has power over all things.
Your mention was mentioned before the One Who is mentioned. If there is outward delay in sending letters, there is no harm, for praise be to God, the inner doors are open and spiritual missives are in circulation. We beseech God to assist you in His love and draw you near to Him in all conditions. Verily, He is the Powerful, the Bestower, the Self-Sufficient, the Most Exalted.
BH06029: In My Name, the Self-Subsisting, over what was…
In My Name, the Self-Subsisting, over what was and what shall be!
Sublime Tablets have been sent down and dispatched from the Most Holy Court specifically for you. Watch over the Cause in all conditions. Today is the day when all must arise to aid the Cause and, with wondrous wisdom, draw heedless souls to the realm of divine unity—especially you who from the beginning have been charged with this service by the Lord of Power. Verily, We remember you at all times and exalt you in truth. He is, truly, the Protector of those who have turned to Him in this world and the next. There is no God but He, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Be not grieved by certain events that have occurred. Soon will the effulgences of the divine Word encompass all lands. Command the people with wisdom, lest something occur that would distress their souls. Thus does the All-Knowing, the All-Informed, command you. Be not silent regarding the Cause of your Lord. Speak forth what God has taught you, that the hearts of the servants may find assurance thereby. He is the Best of Teachers.
Convey My greetings to My loved ones in whose faces you see the radiance of bliss. Glory be upon you and upon those with you among God’s sincere servants.
BH06081: O handmaid of God! God willing, may you hold…
He is the most Holy, the Most Exalted
O handmaid of God! God willing, may you hold fast to the truth and be free and detached from all else. These are the days of steadfastness. Beseech and implore God, glorified and exalted be He, that you may remain firm in His love and steadfast in His Cause.
How many strong souls have been seen to waver and become agitated when the winds of tests blew, and how many weak ones who, through divine favor, were adorned with the ornament of supreme steadfastness. He is the Ruler over all, He is the Protector, and He is the Bestower. None is aware of His hidden wisdom save His own Self, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
Praise be to the Ancient Beauty Who hath made mention of thee in the Most Great Prison and revealed these sublime and wondrous words especially for thee. Therefore, arise to render thanks unto Him and celebrate His remembrance.
We beseech God to assist thee in all conditions to love Him and remember Him, and to make thee among those women who have detached themselves from all else save Him, who circle round His Cause and that which He hath ordained in His Tablets. Verily, He is the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting.
BH06391: The Most Ancient, the Most Noble, the Most Great
The Most Ancient, the Most Noble, the Most Great
The Pen hastens forth from the presence of the Ancient King at all times in the arena of wisdom and utterance, as a bounty from God, the Lord of the worlds. He seeks out whoever seeks Him and remembers whoever turns to Him with a repentant heart. Nothing escapes His knowledge—He sees whoever hastens to the ultimate goal and beholds whoever turns toward His manifest horizon.
Blessed is he who takes his portion from the Most Great Ocean and arises amidst the peoples with this Name which God has made the Sovereign of names in the kingdom of creation, and through which He has attracted the hearts of those who believe in His unity. Verily, those who are deprived of this bounty wander lost in the wilderness of ignorance. Say: O people! Draw near to the Dawning-Place of revelation and follow not every far-removed idolater. The world has been adorned with the lights of the Ancient One, and all things proclaim: The appointed time has come, and the Revealer of verses has arrived with a Cause before which none in the heavens and earth can stand. Be thankful to thy Lord that thou hast been mentioned before the Face and this exalted Tablet hath been revealed for thee. Take hold of it with the hand of power, detached from all else. Verily thy Lord is the All-Wise, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH06074: May you ever drink from the Kawthar of divine…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
May you ever drink from the Kawthar of divine bounty and dwell in repose within His sheltering mercy. Be not grieved at what hath befallen you. I swear by the Dawning-Place of eternity that your mention is recorded throughout all worlds. That which was manifested by you in the path of Truth was not manifested by most men, for steadfastness hath been among the most exalted stations, and the greatness of this station hath been revealed in the divine Tablets both past and future. Praise ye the Beloved of the worlds that ye have attained unto this most great, most exalted station and this sublime rank.
All this is through God’s grace—He bestoweth it upon whomsoever He willeth. How many learned men of the world have remained deprived of this station! All command is in His hands—He giveth and withholdeth. Verily He hath power over all things. Convey greetings from the Wronged One to all steadfast believing women. We beseech God to aid all to remain firm in His love and to act according to His good-pleasure. Verily He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
BH06321: This is a Tablet that shineth between the heavens…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
This is a Tablet that shineth between the heavens and the earth. Blessed is the one who is illumined thereby on this Day whereon the Spirit warbleth with most wondrous melodies at the heart of creation: “There is no God but Me, the Mighty, the Gracious.” From it every person of keen sense perceiveth the fragrance of the All-Merciful. Blessed are they that have turned towards Him.
O Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of those handmaidens who have believed in God on a Day wherein men were prevented from turning to God, the Most High, the Most Great. How many were the servants who traveled throughout the lands for My remembrance and visited the spots associated with the Names for My good-pleasure. Yet when I revealed Myself, they turned away and disbelieved in God, the Mighty, the Most Praised. Blessed are ye, O handmaids of God, for having turned towards the Kaaba of existence and for having been wafted upon by the fragrances of the Robe from this luminous Quarter. Be ye steadfast in the love of God and His Cause, then make mention of that which hath been sent down in the Tablets from the presence of One mighty and wise. Gather ye together and make mention with joy and radiance, despite those who have adorned their heads with turbans as a display of learning, yet when the Known One appeared, recognized Him not. By My life! They are accounted as dead. The splendor of God rest upon you, O My handmaidens, from God the Almighty, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.
BH06096: O servant of the Lord of all beings…
He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious
O servant of the Lord of all beings and Sovereign of days! He saith: Blessed is the soul that today maketh mention of God and turneth toward His direction. Today it is incumbent upon all to serve the Cause of the Lord of the seen and unseen. How excellent is the state of that soul who hath arisen to serve Him and through His love hath become renowned among the dwellers of the Supreme Concourse and the inhabitants of the cities of creation.
O ye who are intoxicated with the wine of divine knowledge! In this spiritual morn, drink ye a true morning draught from the chalice of the All-Merciful’s favors. This Wine of unity hath another Wine-Giver, and its intoxication another quality. That diminisheth consciousness, while this increaseth it. That bringeth extinction, while this bestoweth existence. That is followed by headache, while this is accompanied by love for the Lord of creation. Say: O veiled people! God is the Cup-Bearer, and He bestoweth the immortal Kawthar. Hasten ye to what He desireth for you, turning away from what ye desire. This is better for you, and I am the All-Compelling Witness over the worlds. Remember thy brother on behalf of thy Lord, and thy mother, and those who have believed in God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
BH06273: This is a Book from Us to him who…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
This is a Book from Us to him who has turned to the Countenance and attained the lights of divine unity when the Sun of detachment shone forth from the horizon of his Lord’s will, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy—that his eyes may be consoled by his Lord’s Book and that he may stand firm in the love of his Ancient Lord.
O Mihdi! We had previously sent thee a Tablet, and this is yet another time, as a token of Our grace. Take it, then read it and be of them that remember. Look not upon the world and whatsoever is therein. Rather, look to the Scene wherein was raised the call of thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Whosoever today hath heard God’s call, he is indeed among the most exalted of people before the Self-Subsisting. Exalted is this resplendent and wondrous grace! Be thou known for thy love of thy Lord and for giving voice to this Great Name.
Convey My remembrance unto thy brother, saying: Turn with thy most pure heart to the Most Great Scene and say:
“O Lord of mankind! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name not to leave me to myself, and to make me ever-mindful of Thee, detached from all creation. Verily, Thou art the Helper.”
Then remember all who are with thee, every man and woman who hath believed in God, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.
BH06192: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Praise be…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!
Glorified art Thou, O my God! Praise be to Thee for having revealed unto Thy chosen ones that which was hidden from Thy servants and Thy creatures, and for having made known to them those who warred against Thy Self, disputed Thy proof, contended against Thy sovereignty, denied Thy signs, joined partners with Thy Being, and rejected Thy Revelation.
I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thy Name through which Thou didst subdue all things and establish it as a sovereign over all who are in earth and heaven, to rend asunder the veils from the faces of all created things, that they may recognize those who denied Thee even as Thy servants have recognized them—those who have drunk the wine of assurance from the hands of Thy grace and bounty and have turned wholly toward the lights of Thy countenance. O Lord! Make them known as Thou hast made them known, then cause them to witness what Thou hast caused others to witness, that they may testify to that whereunto We have testified in the Tablets, and to that which was attested by honored servants who left their homes, having turned toward the court of Thy bounty, O Thou the Chosen One! Thou art, verily, the Almighty over whatsoever Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Wise. O Lord! Behold Thy chosen ones with the glances of Thy loving-kindness, then deliver them, O my God, through Thy power and might, and gather them together in Thy dwelling-place that they may behold Thy beauty and hearken unto Thy call. Thou art, verily, the Mighty, the Generous.
BH06195: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest one…
In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest one imprisoned for Thy name and afflicted in Thy path. By Thy glory, O Beloved of the worlds and Goal of them that know Thee! He was imprisoned only because he turned toward the sanctuary of Thy grace and bounty and faced the Dayspring of Thy Cause and the Dawning-Place of Thy proof. O Lord! Thou seest how he hath been tried in Thy path. Deprive him not of that which Thou hast ordained for the sincere ones among Thy chosen ones and for them that are nigh unto Thee among Thy loved ones. Aid him in all conditions to remain steadfast in Thy remembrance and praise, and to speak forth among Thy servants, detached from all else besides Thee.
Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest and supreme over whatsoever Thou desirest. O Lord! Send down upon him from the heaven of Thy bounty that which befitteth Thy sovereignty, that he may rejoice in Thy remembrance of him in the kingdom of Thy creation. Then ordain for him what Thou hast ordained for them that soared in Thine atmosphere until they were martyred in Thy path. Thou art He in Whose grasp are held captive all things. Thou ordainest for whomsoever Thou willest whatsoever Thou desirest, and decreest for whomsoever Thou pleasest that which is better for him than all that is in the heavens and on earth. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Knowing.
BH06247: The Book hath been sent down and the All-Bountiful…
He is the Most Great, the Most Glorious
The Book hath been sent down and the All-Bountiful hath come. Thereupon We beheld the people of the veil in confusion and disturbance. They hastened unto the Evil One saying “Is there any way of escape for us?” He said: “No refuge have we this Day.” They said: “Thou hast led us astray.” He said: “I am quit of you.” Take ye heed, O ye possessed of insight! Then was fulfilled that which was revealed in the Qur’an from thy Lord, the Mighty, the Unconstrained.
Say: O people! The Day hath come, and upon its throne is established the Self-Subsisting. Did ye but know what He desireth for you, ye would hasten unto Him with your very eyes. But ye are held back through following vain imaginings. Break ye the idols in the name of your Lord, the Lord of all men, then turn with your hearts unto the Dawning-Place of inspiration. They that follow their lusts and corrupt inclinations have erred and dissipated their efforts. In this world and the next they shall have grievous chastisement.
Grieve thou not over the world and what hath occurred therein. In all matters place thy trust in thy Forgiving Lord, then remember Him at eventide and at dawn. For them that have turned unto Him He hath ordained that which shall gladden their hearts, and for them that have turned away, the wrath of thy Lord—verily His punishment is severe. The glory be upon thee and upon every steadfast believer.
BH06055: He is the Mighty! O ʿAli! Hearken unto…
He is the Mighty! O ʿAli! Hearken unto the call of thy Lord from this far-distant horizon. Verily, there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Wise. Blessed art thou for having turned unto the Ocean, whereof every drop proclaimeth: “Dominion belongeth unto God, the Mighty, the Praised!”
Give thanks unto thy Lord for having been mentioned by the Pen of Revelation while the Dayspring of thy Lord’s verses was in the hands of the oppressors. We make mention of thee because thou hast made mention of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Peerless. Blessed be the face that hath turned unto the Face, and the ear that hath heard the call of the Beloved of the worlds.
By My life! The heart of the world hath been gladdened by the breaths of the Ancient of Days, yet the people are in manifest error. Rend asunder the veils by the power of thy Lord, then turn with thy heart unto Him and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Lord of the Day of Judgment, for having enabled me to recognize Thee, to behold Thy direction, and to speak Thy praise, after every idolater remote had opposed Thee.
Thus have We inspired thee and revealed unto thee that which rejoiceth the hearts of them that know. Praise beseemeth Him Who remembereth His loved ones after having been forbidden remembrance through the doings of the transgressors. Rejoice thou in My Tablet, then inhale therefrom the sweet savors of the mercy of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Wise.
BH06141: The All-Knowing, the All-Wise
The All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
The remembrance of God upon the temple of fire and the form of light from the horizon of manifestation hath verily been witnessed in truth. He hath appeared in such wise that neither the clouds nor the veils of them that disbelieved could prevent Him, when the Youth came in the shadows of the clouds with a sovereignty that encompassed all the worlds.
Do they imagine themselves to be the people of guidance? Nay, by thy Lord, the Most Glorious! Soon shall they behold themselves in the abyss of divine wrath and shall find for themselves no helper. We summoned them unto that which profiteth them, yet they pant after Me, and God is well aware of what I say. How many nights did the people slumber while the Name of the Self-Subsisting was bound in chains and fetters through what the hands of the unbelievers had wrought, and they were far removed from the precincts of justice. By My life! Tribulation hath become the companion of Baha in the path of God, the Creator of earth and heaven. Thus was the matter decreed in a Tablet that was preserved before the Throne. Blessed is he who hath turned his gaze toward the Most Great Vision and hath been illumined by this Dawn that hath been made visible from the horizon of the Command. Leave the people of allusions in their vain imaginings and take what hath been sent down unto thee of verses whereby the sincere ones shall soar unto a station that hath been praised in the name of God.
BH06312: This is a Book from God unto him who…
He is Most Great, Most Holy, Most Glorious
This is a Book from God unto him who hath believed in God on the Day of Return. O Sulayman! If thou dost catch the fragrance of the All-Merciful from the direction of Sheba, leave Bilqis and her throne behind thee, then turn with thy heart toward the Qiblih of all horizons. Blessed is he who hath drunk the choice wine of utterance from the fingers of the mercy of his Lord, the All-Merciful, on this Day whereon the All-Glorious hath revealed Himself unto all who are in the realms of being. Beware lest anything hold thee back from God, the Cleaver of the Dawn. Verily, they who have cast behind their backs their vain imaginings and taken what was commanded unto them by God, the Lord of all men—upon them shall the denizens of the Concourse on High pray at eventide and at dawn.
Beware lest the world and what occurreth therein sadden thee. By My life! It shall pass away, and might and power shall remain with thy Lord, the Possessor of Names and Attributes. Make My remembrance thy paradise, My love thy heart’s sanctuary, My Name thy lamp, and thy turning unto Me thy turning unto the Dawning-Place of Lights. Thus doth the Pen of Command counsel thee from thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. When thou attainest unto this Tablet, place it upon thine eyes and say: Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who hast sent down unto me that which illumineth the eyes.
BH06127: Praise be to the Beloved of the worlds…
Praise be to the Beloved of the worlds, for thou hast quaffed from the most pure wine and gazed upon the Most Great Scene. This is a station that hath ever been mighty in the sight of God. Although this earthly realm of dust is incapable of bearing the radiance of the revelation of this station, yet soon shall its effects become manifest throughout all regions, that all may testify that glory belongeth unto God and unto His loved ones. Thy letter was present before the Face, and the eyes of God were fixed upon it. Blessed art thou for having been confirmed in this in these days wherein feet did slip and eyes were startled, save those whom thy Lord, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting, did choose. God willing, thou shalt become intoxicated with the Kawthar of “Am I not?” and shall become free and detached from all else save the remembrance of thy Friend. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
Say: O my Lord! I am he who hath turned toward Thee and set his face toward the paradise of Thy gifts and favors. I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou didst subdue all creation and didst quicken all beings, to ordain for me that which beseemeth Thy generosity and grace. Then make me steadfast in Thy love in such wise that the opposition of the world shall not prevent me. Verily Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou pleasest.
BH06303: This is a mention from Us unto him who…
He is the All-Glorious, the Almighty
This is a mention from Us unto him who desires to follow his Ancient Lord, that what hath been sent down from before the Throne may strengthen him according to what God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, hath willed.
Say: O people! Follow not your passions, nor walk in the footsteps of them who have denied God, the Lord of the mighty Throne. Beware lest the world beguile you from God, the Creator of earth and heaven. Cast away what ye possess in your search for that which is with your Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
Verily, they who are heedless this day are in manifest error. Soon shall they behold themselves in the abyss of divine wrath. Thy Lord is, in truth, the most severe in punishment. And they who have believed shall soon find themselves in an exalted station. Thus have We inspired thee that thou mayest give thanks unto thy Lord and be among those who are firm in His love.
Say: O my God! Illumine my heart with the light of Thy Most Glorious Name, whereby the foundations of them who denied Thee on the Day of Judgment were shaken, and aid me to remember and praise Thee, and ordain for me what Thou hast ordained for Thy near servants. O Lord! Make me so steadfast in Thy love that the world shall not prevent me from turning to the sanctuary of Thy Most Glorious Name. Thou art, verily, the Almighty over what Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Wise.
BH06161: A mention from Us unto him who emigrated unto…
In the Name of God, the Most Great, the Most Glorious
A mention from Us unto him who emigrated unto God and drew nigh unto the Most Great Sea when he was in prison at the hands of the idolaters. When he reached the shore of the sea, We commanded him to return with Our servant, the Exalted One, and We prevented him from arriving because of that which the hands of the oppressors had wrought. O servant! Blessed art thou for having hearkened unto the command of God and for having attained unto that which thou wast bidden by One Who is mighty and wise. We have ordained for thee the recompense of that which thou didst perform in His path. He is verily the Protector of the doers of good. We have accepted thy migration and thy turning unto God, thy Lord and the Lord of all worlds.
Rejoice thou in these glad-tidings which have shone forth and dawned from the finger of thy Lord’s will, the Ancient of Days. Be thou not grieved at thy return, for it is the very essence of return, in that thou didst follow therein the decree of thy Lord, the Almighty, the Powerful. Blessed art thou and blessed are they who see not their own pleasure but rather the good-pleasure of God and that which He hath desired in a mighty tablet. Thus have We made mention of thee as a grace from Our presence, and I am verily the Mighty, the Bountiful. Verily the glory be upon thee and upon them who have believed in God when He came with the truth with a mighty sovereignty.
BH06234: The Most Great, the Most Great, has made mention…
The Most Great, the Most Great, has made mention of you before His countenance and has turned towards you with the glance of God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting. He remembers you as He walks in the Most Great Prison, due to what the hands of those who disbelieved in God, the Mighty, the Loving, have wrought. Blessed art thou, O handmaiden of God, for having turned to the Desired One and believed in God, the Mighty, the Beloved.
Then know that thy brother attained the presence of the Throne and won the lights of the Countenance in this praiseworthy station. This, verily, is a station unto which all created things through the Word of God have turned, but the people do not understand. By the Lord of Power! This, verily, is the Greatest Vision, but the people do not perceive. Blessed is he who has turned to it with his heart and found that which is diffused from this Blood-stained Shirt.
O My handmaiden! Recognize the value of these days and hold fast to the cord of thy Lord, the Knower of the unseen. Grieve not over anything, trust in God in all conditions. He is with His handmaidens who have believed in this Day wherein eyes have been gladdened. Be thou thankful and praise thy Lord for having been mentioned by the Pen of Revelation in this inscribed Tablet. The glory be upon thee and upon those handmaidens who have believed in God, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.
BH06272: A book from Us to her who, when she…
He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted
A book from Us to her who, when she heard the Call from the direction of the Throne, turned and said, then proclaimed: “Yea, O Beloved of the mystics!” O My handmaiden! If thou wouldst hear the Call which hath been raised in these days around My Throne, it would cause thee to soar in the atmosphere of My nearness, admit thee into My Kingdom, and enable thee to voice My praise among My handmaidens. Thus have We sent down unto thee that which will gladden thy heart. Verily, thy Lord is the All-Bountiful, the Ancient of Days.
Be thou assured through the grace of thy Lord, then remember Him at all times. He, verily, is the Best of rememberers. O my God and my Beloved! I hear Thy call from the direction of the Prison, the place wherein the Throne of Thy grandeur and power hath been established. O Lord! Enable me to remember Thee in Thy days and praise Thee among Thy handmaidens. I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast raised the standards of Thy Cause among Thy servants and hoisted the banners of Thy sovereignty amidst Thy creation, that Thou shut me not out from the door of Thy grace and withhold not from me that which Thou hast ordained for Thy handmaidens who have turned with their whole being to the court of Thy bounty and the Dayspring of Thy Revelation. Verily, Thou art the Giver, the Munificent, the Mighty, the All-Wise.
BH06046: O loved ones of the All-Merciful! Hearken unto…
In the Name of Him Who is the Ruler over all who are on earth and in heaven!
O loved ones of the All-Merciful! Hearken unto the call from the direction of destiny—verily there is no God but Him, the All-Glorious, the Most Glorious. Follow not the desires of those who have denied God, the Lord of the hereafter and of former times. Beware lest abasement hold you back from God, the Lord of the visible and the invisible, and beware lest poverty veil you from gazing upon the Most Great Scene.
By My life! It shall pass away, while that which hath been ordained for you in the Kingdom of your Lord, the Most High, the Most Exalted, shall endure. The earth hath been shaken in these days and the cry hath been raised between earth and heaven. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the presence of the Lord of the Throne above and of the earth below. The fly hath assailed Us—verily it is of them that have disbelieved and transgressed. At all times there hath befallen Us that which none can reckon save God, with Whom is the knowledge of all things in an unerring and unforgetting Book. And when the appointed time was fulfilled and the Hour had come, the wrath of thy Lord, the Cleaver of the dawn, seized those who had disbelieved. Be thou not disturbed by what thou hast heard and hearest. Turn thou in all conditions unto God, the Creator of all things.
BH06098: O handmaiden of God! May you ever dwell beneath…
He is God, exalted be His glory, the Grandeur and the Power
O handmaiden of God! May you ever dwell beneath the shade of the Divine Lote-Tree and partake of its fruits, which are the knowledge of the Ancient Beauty. Give thanks to God that you have attained the most great honor, which is the recognition of the Sun of Truth that today is rising and shining from the horizon of the merciful Will.
O handmaiden of God! Keep your heart and tongue occupied with the love and mention of God. The world is passing, and all that is visible therein is perishable and non-existent. Observe that if it had any worth, the Beauty of the Divine Unity would not have been afflicted at the hands of the basest of creatures. The whole world and whatsoever is therein was, in its primal reality, created for the Dawning-Place of Divine Revelation. Yet now we see that through the tyranny of the corrupt He is imprisoned and wronged in the most ruined of lands. This is naught but the result of humanity’s failure to recognize the Truth. Beseech God at all times that He may keep you steadfast in His love. Verily, glory be upon you and upon those who are with you among the ones who have turned to Him.
BH06171: The Most Great, the Most Holy. We have remembered…
The Most Great, the Most Holy. We have remembered one of the servants that he might be drawn to God, the Lord of the Day of Mutual Calling. By My life! Whoso heareth My remembrance with the ear of his native nature shall soar, out of longing, into the atmosphere wherein waft the breezes of sanctity and the fragrances of the Divine Robe. He is, verily, of the people of Baha, whose name hath been inscribed in a Tablet from which the eyes are barred. Blessed is he who hath turned unto God, and woe betide every doubting denier.
Cast away your imaginings; the Lord of all beings hath come with a wondrous Cause. When He entered into prison, He summoned all unto God, the Opener of Gates. Among the people are those who have entered the Kingdom, and others whom veils have barred. Say: Shatter the idols by the name of your Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing. Beware lest allusions hold you back; cast them behind you and hold fast unto this Cord whereby the worlds have been moved.
Thy name hath been mentioned before the Countenance, and there hath been sent down for thee that which shall gladden the hearts of them that are endued with understanding. Turn not unto the world and its people, for it shall perish, and thou shalt behold the kingdom and dominion to be God’s, the Mighty, the Bestower.
Thus hath been sent down what thy Lord, the Lord of Names, did purpose, from the Most Exalted Pen. He is, verily, the Ruler in the beginning and in the end. And praise be to God, the Mighty, the Most Exalted.
BH06248: The Most Great, the Most Holy, the Most Ancient!…
The Most Great, the Most Holy, the Most Ancient! The verses have been sent down in such wise that none can reckon them save God, the Reckoner, the All-Knowing. They have been scattered throughout all lands by the hands of those servants who have sought the Most Great Shrine and who were among the triumphant ones. We beseech God to gather together what hath been scattered. Verily He is the Mighty, the Powerful.
In every matter there hath been sent down that which sufficeth all the peoples of the world. There is no command whose decree hath not been revealed in the Tablets, and no word that hath not been expounded in the Manifest Book. Those whose eyes have been opened—these are they who recognize therein what their Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, intended thereby.
Blessed is he who hath turned today and hath spoken among the people of this wondrous Name. Say: O people! Answer him who calleth you unto the pure Truth, and follow not every heedless remote one. We make mention of you for the sake of God and impart unto you that which will draw you nigh unto Him, if ye be of them that know.
Beware lest ye deprive yourselves of that which your Ancient Lord desireth for you. Pay no heed to those from whom ye perceive the stench of turning away. Leave them to themselves and put your trust in God. Thus have the verses been sent down unto thee and dispatched to thee that thou mayest be of the thankful ones.
Say: Praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds!
BH06276: This is a Book from Us to one who…
In the Name of the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious
This is a Book from Us to one who hath been drawn by the breeze of longing unto the Daystar of the horizons and hath turned unto God, the Lord of all worlds, that the fragrances of reunion may once again take hold of him through this Tablet whereby all tablets have been adorned. Verily thy Lord is the All-Powerful, the Almighty.
Rejoice thou that the Countenance of the Ancient of Days hath turned toward thee from this Most Great Prison and remembereth thee with tenderness. When the denizens of the immortal Realm heard this, the King proclaimed:
“May I be a sacrifice for Thee, O Lord of the worlds!”
Grieve thou not over anything, but place thy trust in God in all matters. He will verily aid thee through the truth. He is the Guardian of them that place their trust in Him. Recite thou what hath been sent down unto thee from the heaven of Revelation. It will draw thee unto a station wherein thou shalt regard the world and all that is therein, whether hardship or comfort, wealth or affluence, as the most insignificant thing before thee. Thy Lord is, verily, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Blessed art thou for having attained unto this Tablet while the Best-Beloved was in the hands of the oppressors. Thus have the breezes of favors wafted from the right hand of the paradise of thy Lord’s grace, out of His love for thee. He is, verily, the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful. The glory be upon thee and upon those who are with thee among My loved ones who have turned unto this resplendent Countenance.
BH06291: In the name of the Lord! This is not…
In the name of the Lord! This is not the day of questions. When thou hearest the call of thy Lord, say: “Here am I, O Beloved of the worlds!” Behold Peter, how he responded to his Master before being asking questions, and followed the Spirit with clear certitude. The sun of idle fancies hath been eclipsed and the orb of assurance hath dawned, for the All-Merciful hath come with His great glory.
Then remember when the Spirit came, how the learned ones turned away from Him while he who was a fisher of fish turned toward Him. Thus doth the servant remind thee, purely for the sake of God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
Cast aside vain imaginings—this is the day of divine disclosure and witnessing. Turn thy vision to the Most Great Scene, that thou mayest behold the light dawning from this luminous horizon. The Word that was hidden before hath now appeared. Reflect and be among those possessed of insight.
The stars of fancy have fallen when He Who is Known came with His Name, the Self-Subsisting. Blessed is he who hath found the breeze of God and turned to Him, detached from all created things.
Ponder what We have imparted unto thee, that thou mayest understand what was concealed in the depths of these allusions. When thou findest the Kawthar of life in the Ridvan of thy Lord’s utterance, the All-Merciful, drink thereof and say:
“Praise be unto Thee, O Thou Who art the Goal of all who are in the heavens and on earth!”
We beseech God to assist His servants unto what He desireth. Verily, He is the Mighty, the Powerful.
BH06293: The Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious! There…
The Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious! There is nothing whatsoever but it hath been mentioned in the Book of Wisdom, and there is no matter but it hath been expounded in detail in the Scriptures of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. The verses have been sent down in such wise that none can deny them save him whom the wrath of his Lord hath overtaken by reason of that which his hands have wrought aforetime. He, verily, is the Just, the Mighty, the All-Praised.
And power hath been manifested in such wise as to encompass all who are in the worlds. The seeing one is he who hath beheld the proof of his Lord, and the knowing one is he who hath recognized his Bountiful Lord, and the speaking one is he who hath uttered His praise, and the hearing one is he who hath hearkened unto the call of God, the Lord of the worlds. He who hath been heedless in the days of God is assuredly among the lost.
O servants of God! Arise to serve the Cause, then assist it through that which ye have been commanded in the Tablets, and be not of them that sit still. Ye were created for this Day which hath been mentioned in the Scriptures of God, the Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Vie ye with each other in good deeds. Thus doth He Who revealeth the verses command you, if ye be of them who understand.
When thou attainest unto a Tablet of thy Lord, read what is therein with the most melodious voice. It will attract thee to an exalted station. Thus have We sent down the verses and dispatched them unto thee that thou mayest be of the thankful ones.
BH06350: O thou holy and resplendent leaf! Sing forth upon…
He is the Almighty
O thou holy and resplendent leaf! Sing forth upon the boughs of the Lote-Tree of Bahá this Most Exalted Word:
“Verily no God is there but Him, the Lord of this world and of the next!”
Verily, We have elevated thee to the rank of one of the most distinguished among the handmaidens, and granted thee, in My court, a station such as none other woman hath surpassed. Thus have We preferred thee and raised thee above the rest, as a sign of grace from Him Who is the Lord of the throne on high and earth below. We have created thine eyes to behold the light of My countenance, thine ears to hearken unto the melody of My words, thy body to pay homage before My throne. Do thou render thanks unto God, thy Lord, the Lord of the worlds.
How high is the testimony of the Sadratu’l-Muntaha for its leaf; how exalted the witness of the Tree of Life unto its fruit! Through My remembrance of her a fragrance laden with the perfume of musk hath been diffused; well is it with him that hath inhaled it and exclaimed:
“All praise be to Thee, O God, my Lord the most glorious!”
And how sweet is thy presence before Me, and My gaze upon thee, and My solicitude for thee, and My bounty bestowed upon thee, and My mention of thee in this Tablet which We have ordained to be a token of My hidden and manifest grace unto thee.
BH06463: O handmaiden of God! While thou art…
In the name of the Best-Beloved of the worlds
O handmaiden of God! While thou art in the House, and the Sovereign of the House is in the hands of the oppressors, He riseth from the horizon of the Prison and calleth out to thee, summoning thee to the truth. This is naught but from His grace which hath encompassed all created things. Were We not mindful of this station, no word would ever have shone forth from the Dayspring of the Will of the All-Merciful.
Therefore must all recognize the worth of this station and count this bounty as a precious gift, and act in ways befitting this station. With perfect gentleness, truthfulness and purity of heart must they pass these fleeting days. Know ye the value of these times and occupy yourselves with the remembrance of God, for His remembrance is the companion of hearts and the quickener of souls. Blessed is the handmaiden who hath attained and who hath been mentioned before the Throne, and whose name hath been inscribed in the Tablet of her Lord, the Mighty, the All-Praiseworthy. Blessed art thou and blessed is she who serveth thee. Convey My glorification to her countenance, for We have found in her the love of the Best-Beloved of the worlds.
BH06612: Blessed is the heart that hath been connected…
He is the Most Great, the Most Wondrous, the Most Exalted
Blessed is the heart that hath been connected with the Most Great Sea and the eye that hath beheld the proof of its Lord, the Almighty, the Powerful. Blessed is the heart that hath been attracted by the breezes of Revelation and hath detached itself from all else save Him. Blessed is the breast that hath been illumined by the lights of dawn and whereon hath been imprinted the revelation of this radiant and luminous Beauty.
Say: O people! Ponder upon that which hath appeared in truth, and follow not every denier and doubter. Verily the Tree by its very essence proclaimeth: There is none other God besides Me, the Mighty, the Generous. It behooveth every soul to turn unto it and to abandon whatsoever tales of old he possesseth. Thus hath the Tongue of Grandeur spoken when the Ancient Beauty was in the hands of the oppressors. Those who speak according to their own desires—these have no portion in this wondrous Cause. Be thou thankful for having drunk the choice wine of life and for having been immersed in the ocean of thy Lord’s love, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy.
BH06481: O leaf! Thy lamentations have been heard, and thine…
In the name of the Friend, the One Who is present and watchful!
O leaf! Thy lamentations have been heard, and thine anguish at separation from the Day-Star of the horizons hath been witnessed. By My life! My remembrance preceded thy remembrance, and My love preceded thy love. Were it not for My love, thy love would not have appeared, and were it not for the stirring of the fragrances of My robe, thy stirring in separation from Me would not have been manifest. May God curse those who have oppressed and caused separation between Me and My loved ones.
This is most evident and clear that the Truth, exalted be His grandeur, hath ever loved and will forever love His sincere lovers, and His gaze of favor hath at all times been fixed upon them. This outward separation and division hath been caused by the rebellion and heedlessness of the people. Therefore that leaf must not be sorrowful, but rather content and grateful for what hath been ordained for her. Know thou this much: thy heartfelt lamentations have been and continue to be heard, and all have been accepted in the presence of the Truth. In such case, thou must not be sorrowful, but rather patient and thankful. Verily, He is with thee and heareth thy call and seeth thy condition. He is, in truth, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.
