BH08240: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

In the name of God, the Most Exalted, the Most High

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which the hearts of the sincere have been set aflame, and the souls of them that have drawn nigh have melted away; by which the dove of longing hath lifted up its voice within the breasts of Thy loved ones, and the bird of nearness hath soared in the heaven of reunion with Thee and of meeting with Thee: cleanse Thou me from all that Thy good-pleasure abhorreth, and draw me near unto the wellspring of Thy grace and Thy loving-kindness. Give me to drink of the pure wine of Thy solicitude at the hands of Thy mercy, and of the Tasnam of Thy munificence from the cups of Thy bounty; and bring me unto such a station that I may behold in existence naught save the manifestations of the lights of Thy oneness and the revealings of the glory of Thy singleness–so that I may be wholly severed from all besides Thee, turned toward Thy Countenance, voicing the praise of Thine own Self, and hastening unto the sanctuary of Thy holiness.

Verily Thou art powerful to do what Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the All-Exalted, the All-Magnificent, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

BH08243: Glory be to Thee, O my God! I beseech…

Glory be to Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by the yearning of the hearts of the lovers and the sighs of the hearts of the longing ones, and by Thy Name through which the pavilion of misbelief was destroyed and the canopy of divine unity was raised up, to preserve him who hath believed in Thee and in Thy signs, and hath held fast unto the cord of Thy bounty, and hath turned toward the direction of Thy mercy and Thy good-pleasure. O my Lord! Ordain for him, by the Pen of Thy Command and Thy decree, that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones. Then clothe him in the armor of Thy protection, and preserve him from every disease and hardship and calamity and ailment and pain, that he may aid Thee in Thy dominion and make mention of Thee amidst Thy creatures. Verily, Thou art powerful to do what Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful. Then preserve him, O my God, and those who are with him, both male and female, and send down upon them the good of this world and the next. Verily, Thou art the Powerful and the Unconstrained.

BH08054: O My handmaid! Be not grieved at what hath…

In the Name of God, the Most Glorious!

O My handmaid! Be not grieved at what hath befallen My Beauty at the hands of the oppressors among My creation and the rebellious ones among My creatures. By God! Tribulation preventeth Me not from My joy, nor doth destiny hold Me back from My delight and My rapture and My yearning. Indeed, the more My tribulation increaseth, the more doth My longing for God, My Beloved, My Purpose and My Lord, increase. Be thou not perturbed by the world and what occurreth therein. Turn thou unto the Most Great Shrine wherein hath been raised the call of the Lord of Eternity and Creator of nations. Then speak thou of My remembrance and that which hath been revealed from My Pen and uttered by the tongue of My grandeur upon the throne of My glory and majesty. By God! Wert thou to find the sweetness of My remembrance, thou wouldst sacrifice thyself in My path and arise among the handmaidens with My remembrance and praise. Thus doth the Pen of My Command make mention of thee that thou mayest rejoice within thyself and give thanks unto thy Lord, the Most High, the Most Great.

BH08220: Our remembrance of Our servant, that he may follow…

In the name of God, the Ever-Abiding, the All-Sufficient, the Mighty, the Invincible.

Our remembrance of Our servant, that he may follow guidance in the days of his Lord, the King of the throne and earth, and that He may protect him from the intimations of those who have denied God, the Lord of the last and the first. Turn with thy most pure heart unto the Most Great Horizon. Say: I believe in Thee, O Thou Who rememberest me with Thy sweetest utterance. We have commanded the people in the Book not to follow their idle fancies. Among them are those who turned away and resisted, and those who believed and were guided. O people! Follow not your own selves, but follow the ways of God which have been sent down in the Book from your Lord, the Most High, the Most Glorious. Those who commit indecent acts, steal the property of others, and backbite My servants—their deeds shall be rendered vain in this futile life and they are among those who have gone astray and been misguided. Cast away vain imagination and hold fast unto certitude. Verily He is the Truth, there is no God but Him, the Most High, the Most Exalted.

BH08058: O Hasan! Bear thou witness within thyself that He…

He is the Triumphant, the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting!

O Hasan! Bear thou witness within thyself that He is God, the Mighty, the Wise, and that He Whom He hath sent under the name of ʿAli is His proof unto His creatures, His evidence unto His creation, and His link between the heavens and the earth. Whoso cleaveth unto Him hath indeed been guided by the lights of God, and whoso turneth away hath strayed from the straight path. Say: O people! Believe in Him and in that which hath been sent down unto Him, and in this Servant Who speaketh of Him between the heavens and the earth. Say: We were concealed in a mystery that was, in truth, most beautiful, lest anyone should recognize Us and lest the eyes of the treacherous should fall upon Us. But when the idolaters transgressed beyond their bounds, We removed the veil and revealed the Face with radiant lights of sanctity. Thus have We sent down unto thee from the chronicles of truth, that thou mayest become acquainted with God’s Cause and be of them that are firmly established in His love.

BH08071: God is supremely great!

God is supremely great!

O Hashim! Hearken unto the call of Him Who hath migrated unto God with His self and His loved ones, until He fell into the claws of the idolaters and there befell Him such trials as none can reckon save God, the Mighty, the Wise. By God! The Spirit hath been shaken by what the hands of the oppressors have wrought, and the Light hath been darkened by this grievous calamity. Yet in all this We render thanks unto God and remain in resignation and goodly patience. And ye, O concourse of the beloved! Forget not God’s covenant, neither break His testament, nor cast the Cause of God behind your backs, nor be of the heedless. Then be patient in what hath befallen Us and you, and verily He shall repay the reward of the patient ones. And the Spirit and the Light and the Glory be upon thee and upon the sincere ones.

BH08257: Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God, my…

In the name of God, the Most Manifest

Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God, my Master! Thou hearest the sighing of those who, though they long to behold Thy face, are yet separated from Thee and far distant from Thy court. Thou testifiest to the lamentations which those who have recognized Thee pour forth because of their exile from Thee and their yearning to meet Thee. I beseech Thee by those hearts which contain naught except the treasures of Thy remembrance and praise, and which show forth only the testimonies of Thy greatness and the evidences of Thy might, to bestow on Thy servants who desire Thee power to approach the seat of the revelation of the splendor of Thy glory and to assist them whose hopes are set on Thee to enter into the tabernacle of Thy transcendent favor and mercy.

Naked am I, O my God! Clothe me with the robe of Thy tender mercies. I am sore athirst; give me to drink of the oceans of Thy bountiful favor. I am a stranger; draw me nearer unto the source of Thy gifts. I am sick; sprinkle upon me the healing waters of Thy grace. I am a captive; rid me of my bondage, by the power of Thy might and through the force of Thy will, that I may soar on the wings of detachment towards the loftiest summits of Thy creation. Thou, verily, doest what Thou choosest. There is no God but Thee, the Help in Peril, the All-Glorious, the Unconstrained.

BH08241: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech…

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Wondrous!

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which the treasuries of Thy knowledge were manifested and the storehouses of Thy Command emerged and the wonders of Thy verses were sent down and Thy beauty appeared and the suns of Thy grace shone forth and the throne of Thy mercy was established amongst Thy creatures, to aid those who have turned toward Thee and detached themselves from all else besides Thee and occupied themselves with Thy remembrance and tasted Thy love.

O my God and my Beloved! Thou seest Thy chosen servants in the hands of the wicked ones, and Thou knowest what hath befallen them at the hands of the oppressors among Thy creation and the transgressors among Thy creatures. O Lord! Protect them through Thy generosity and favors, then cause them to enter the fortress of Thy protection.

O my God! I am one of Thy maidservants who hath turned toward Thee and drawn nigh unto Thy sanctuary. Disappoint me not, O my Beloved, of what lieth with Thee, and drive me not from the door of Thy mercy. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Mighty, the Helper.

BH08036: O handmaiden of God! Bear thou witness even…

He is the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting

O handmaiden of God! Bear thou witness even as my tongue beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Best-Beloved. Then bear thou witness even as my heart beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting. Then bear thou witness even as my spirit beareth witness that there is no God but Him, the Mighty, the Most Holy. Then bear thou witness even as God hath witnessed at the hub of eternity that this is verily the Divine Tree, and this is the Cause of Oneness, and this is the Spirit of Eternal Truth, and this is the divine mystery, and the divine essence, and the pure camphor, and the celestial lamp. Thus hath God borne witness unto us even as we have borne witness unto Him, and thus have We remembered Him with love even as He hath remembered us with affection. And thou, O handmaiden of God, render thanks unto thy Lord for having sent down unto thee this blessed leaf that thou mayest find joy within thyself and be numbered among the devout. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon the women who believe.

BH08594: Praised be Thou, O Lord my God! I bear…

Praised be Thou, O Lord my God! I bear witness that from eternity Thou wert exalted in Thy transcendent majesty and might, and wilt to eternity abide in Thy surpassing power and glory. None in the kingdoms of earth and heaven can frustrate Thy purpose; none throughout the realms of revelation and of creation can prevail against Thee. At Thy command Thou doest what Thou willest, and by the power of Thy sovereignty Thou rulest as Thou pleasest.

I implore Thee, O Thou Who causest the dawn to appear, by Thy Lamp which Thou didst light with the fire of Thy love before all that are in heaven and on earth, and whose flame Thou feedest with the fuel of Thy wisdom in the kingdom of Thy creation, to make me to be of those who have soared in Thine atmosphere, and surrendered their will to Thy decree.

I am all wretchedness, O my Lord, and Thou art the Most Powerful, the Almighty. Have pity upon me by Thy grace and bountiful favor, and graciously aid me to serve Thee and them that are dear to Thee. Potent art Thou to do as Thou willest. No God is there but Thee, the God of strength, of glory and wisdom.

BH08433: Magnified be Thy name, O my God…

In the name of God, the Most Wondrous, the Most Holy

Magnified be Thy name, O my God, for that Thou hast manifested the Day which is the King of Days, the Day which Thou didst announce unto Thy chosen Ones and Thy Prophets in Thy most excellent Tablets, the Day whereon Thou didst shed the splendor of the glory of all Thy names upon all created things. Great is his blessedness whosoever hath set himself towards Thee, and entered Thy presence, and caught the accents of Thy voice.

I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by the name of Him round Whom circleth in adoration the kingdom of Thy names, that Thou wilt graciously assist them that are dear to Thee to glorify Thy word among Thy servants, and to shed abroad Thy praise amidst Thy creatures, so that the ecstasies of Thy revelation may fill the souls of all the dwellers of Thine earth.

Since Thou hast guided them, O my Lord, unto the living waters of Thy grace, grant, by Thy bounty, that they may not be kept back from Thee; and since Thou hast summoned them to the habitation of Thy throne, drive them not out from Thy presence, through Thy loving-kindness. Send down upon them what shall wholly detach them from aught else except Thee, and make them able to soar in the atmosphere of Thy nearness, in such wise that neither the ascendancy of the oppressor nor the suggestions of them that have disbelieved in Thy most august and most mighty Self shall be capable of keeping them back from Thee.

BH08334: Thy letter hath been presented before the Throne…

He is the Most Glorious, the Most Glorious

In the Name of God, the Most Great, the Most Glorious

Thy letter hath been presented before the Throne and We have taken note of its contents. We shall ordain for thee that which shall profit thee. Verily thy Lord is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Thus have We ordained for thee in the Tablet an exalted station. By My life! If thou didst know, thou wouldst soar with longing and be detached from all the worlds. Blessed is he who hath found the fragrance of the garment and turned unto God, the Mighty, the Wise. Guard thou thy station, then recite the verses of thy Lord whereby the hearts of the sincere ones are attracted. Let nothing grieve thee. Be thou steadfast in the love of thy Lord, then make mention of Him amongst His servants. He maketh mention of thee in His hallowed Kingdom, the Mighty, the Inaccessible. Blessed art thou for having attained unto the recognition of thy Lord in His days and believed in Him after His servants who were created by His transcendent, mighty and wondrous command denied Him.

BH08159: That blessed Leaf, primal and everlasting, speaketh forth…

He is the All-Glorious.

That blessed Leaf, primal and everlasting, speaketh forth the truth, proclaiming: Verily I am God; there is none other God but Me; and He, in truth, hath been, of all things, All-Knowing. O Riḍa! Be thou well-pleased with My good-pleasure, and swerve not from it; and abide within a mighty stronghold. Follow thou the religion of the Spirit in My Cause—and this is My love—and God sufficeth as witness thereof. Then know thou that God hath not decreed, within all creation, a Paradise greater than this Paradise whose gates have been flung open before the face of the heavens and of the earth; and He verily…

The figurative world and the physical world are both pure nonexistence, but they appear in the garb of being. The first is the grief of the wayfarers and the second is the test of those who have attained. Therefore, it is necessary that a supreme effort be made, so that the compassionate spirit might overcome these two spiritual obstacles by the power of the All-Praised…

BH08059: Hear thou the call of this Stranger, this Wanderer…

He is the Almighty

Hear thou the call of this Stranger, this Wanderer, who hath migrated unto God and then detached Himself from all created things, who hath turned to none except God, the Mighty, the Generous, and who hath feared no soul in His days and hath placed His trust in God at all times. And thou, remember thou His days after Him and be not of the heedless ones. Then walk thou in His footsteps and remind the people and be of them that remember. Beware lest thou overstep the bounds of wisdom, for this is the command of God, the Mighty, the Powerful. We beseech God to unite us with you in a seat of truth in the presence of a mighty King. Then remember from Us thy spouse and deal kindly with her with love that she may find tranquility within herself and be of the patient ones. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon the sincere ones.

BH08249: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest Thy…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest Thy loved ones in the land of exile and their abasement among the people, though the abasement of Thy loved ones in Thy path is glory unto them. Nevertheless I beseech Thee, O my God, by the sovereignty of the Names through which Thou hast adorned earth and heaven, to send down upon Thy male and female servants that which will make them signs of Thy glory amongst Thy creation and evidences of Thy power amongst Thy servants. O Lord! Hearts have been inflamed with hatred of Thee, and every soul hath risen up against Thy loved ones. The matter hath grown so grave that the people show no mercy to young or old, and whenever they hear anyone make mention of Thee, they rise up against him. I beseech Thee, O Revealer of verses and Manifestor of clear signs, to purify the earth from these reprobates. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Unconstrained. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Generous.

BH08247: O Lord my God! Thou art He Who hath…

He is the Most Mighty, the Most Holy

O Lord my God! Thou art He Who hath attracted the hearts of Thy servants and handmaidens through the wondrous melodies and strains of Thy songs, and then left them in the wilderness of separation through what was ordained by the Pen of Thy decree. Thou hast made them drink from the fountain of Thy love and made them to be among those who are kept far from the paradise of Thy presence and are forbidden from entering the sanctuary of Thy nearness and meeting with Thee. I testify, O my God, that whatsoever descendeth from Thee and shineth forth from the horizon of Thy Command and Will is best for Thy servants and creatures. I beseech Thee, O Thou Who causeth the winds to blow and cleaveth the dawn, to make me one who is assisted to remember Thee amongst Thy creation and enabled to praise Thee in Thy lands. Verily Thou art the Almighty Whom nothing can frustrate and the Sovereign Whom no decree can hinder. Thou doest what Thou willest through Thy power and ordainest what Thou pleaseth through Thy Will. Verily Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious, the All-Wise.

BH08033: I praise God and thank Him for having preserved…

He is the Eternal, the Peerless One

I praise God and thank Him for having preserved thee in truth, and turned thee from the left hand of remoteness to the right hand of nearness, and caused thee to recognize the Manifestation of His Beauty and the Repository of His might and grandeur, and raised thee to a station wherein thou hast known God, thy Lord and the Lord of the first and the last. The barking of dogs, and the grunting of swine, and the howling of wolves, and the mewing of cats, and the yelping of foxes, and the hissing of serpents—they who have denied God and His signs—did not prevent thee. Blessed art thou for having turned toward God thy Lord and turned away from those who disbelieved and turned away. Be thou steadfast and be of those who are firm. Say:

O my Lord! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name to make me steadfast in Thy love and to number me with such of Thy servants as have fulfilled their covenant with Thee and have cast behind them all else save Thee and have borne tribulations in Thy path for love of Thee and have detached themselves from all in Thy way.

BH08110: Many sublime Arabic Tablets have been revealed. Now…

He is the Ever-Abiding, Manifest and Visible from the Most Glorious Horizon

Many sublime Arabic Tablets have been revealed. Now the wondrous holy words of God are being uttered in the Persian tongue. Blessed are they that hear them!

The Truth, exalted be His mention, hath ever been and shall forever remain sanctified above manifestation and appearance—an unknowable Mystery, an unfathomable Concealment, an unrevealed Inner Reality, an unhidden Treasure, and an unwitnessed Secret. For the term “mystery” holdeth true only when it remaineth unwitnessed; in such case it is not manifest and thus cannot be known. And after it becometh witnessed, the designation “mystery” no longer existeth whereby it might be known. Therefore, the Mystery hath been and shall ever remain unknowable. Blessed is the soul that pondereth this perfect, firm and divine Word, and attaineth unto the gem of its meaning treasured within. Should anyone claim to know the Mystery in its essence as Mystery, he hath been and shall ever be among the falsifiers. That Most Ancient Beauty is too exalted to be known except through Himself, and too sublime to be described save through His own holy Being. For whatsoever the created ones comprehend at the utmost degree of their understanding is but a fancy they have themselves conceived for themselves. Exalted is He above being known by that which is contingent!

And since the gates of knowledge and comprehension were closed, and the ultimate degree of the servants’ understanding rejected, the Sovereign of existence, through His grace and bounty, caused the Manifestations of Oneness and Daysprings of Divine glory to appear from the horizon of “Verily, I am He Who is manifest above all things,” so that all people might attain unto the knowledge of God through recognition of these Suns dawning from the horizon of truth, and might be blessed with obedience to God and submission to His will through obedience to these holy Beings. And in accordance with justice and the manifestation of grace, He bestowed upon each of these eternal and glorious Manifestations a proof and testimony, that no soul might find cause for turning away or making excuses, and that God’s proof might be complete and perfect unto all. The purpose of this supreme favor is that they might educate souls so that perchance they may enter the kingdom of the Divine Countenance and attain unto the station wherein “the Face of thy Lord endureth”—which is the ultimate goal of human existence—and may abide forever.

I swear by the Ancient Beauty that if a soul should but once become pure and detached from this world and ascend unto the Supreme Companion, it shall never perish but shall attain from existence unto existence, and neither extinction nor annihilation shall ever find their way unto such existence and immortality. Yet what benefit is there when these people, with their impure hearts, fail to comprehend this divine melody?

These Manifestations of transcendent oneness have appeared from time immemorial until the time culminated in the first wondrous Manifestation in the final Vesture, and the Primal Point—exalted be His grandeur, sublime be His traces, and glorious be His majesty—arose from the Most Exalted Horizon and guided mankind to the pathway of immortality. Yet all the people clung to their religious leaders from among the divines and turned not to that Essence of Divine Unity, although He appeared with such compelling proof that all found themselves powerless to produce the like thereof. Then they arose in opposition and demanded supernatural signs. That Ancient Being composed the treatise of proofs known as the Seven Proofs [Dala’il-i-Sab’ih], wherein He showed that all evidence and proof culminate in verses.

From His sanctified Pen flowed that today these verses which descend from the clouds of glory are a proof to the East and West of the world, and there hath been and shall be no greater proof than this. Thus when the Crown Prince summoned that Essence of Eternity to his court and demanded proof, that Ancient Beauty declared that verses are the proof today. Yet in the end they accepted it not, and all gave verdict for the death of that Essence of Pre-existence, save a few who became assured through the divine verses and turned from the west of unbelief and error to the east of faith and recognition.

And thereafter that Ancient Being gave in all His revealed Tablets the glad tidings of this Most Great Manifestation, such that not a single line was revealed in the Bayan except that this most glorious mention was recorded therein, and He counseled all lest at the time of His appearance they remain veiled from the Beauty of the All-Merciful by the letters of the Bayan and the words revealed therein, as did the people of the Qur’an. Despite these admonitions, and this Most Great Manifestation and Most Holy Dawning which hath appeared with all divine power and with all the proofs of the Manifestations of eternal glory, all have turned away. Would that they had been content with what the people of the Qur’an perpetrated, for the people of the Qur’an merely gave verdict for the death of the Beauty of the All-Merciful, but this people have striven to cut down the Divine Tree. Finding themselves powerless to do so, they loosened their tongues in calumny.

Assuredly by now the clamor of the idolaters hath reached that land. Yet praise be to God that they have attributed to this Most Pure Essence such things that any soul possessing the least grain of discernment or the tiniest particle of insight would perceive that these calumnies have issued from the source of rancor, the treasury of envy, and the mine of hatred. Therefore do the tongues of all atoms proclaim:

“The curse of God be upon the first oppressor who wronged the Primal Point in His latter Manifestation, who warred against Him, who disputed His verses, who denied His presence, and who slandered Him.”

Yea, O servant! Such is the station of these unseemly and immature servants that for twenty years the Ancient Beauty was in the hands of His enemies in such wise that at every moment He was in peril of destruction—now in the prison of His foes, now in chains and fetters, and now at the mercy of the wicked. Yet despite this they have attributed worldliness and love thereof to this Essence of Spirit, even though the whole world and all that is therein were His creation. And if His Temple, the Throne itself, were to rest upon a bed of diamonds, it would be befitting—nay, worthy of His threshold’s servants. Yet I swear by the Ancient King that they who circle round His court have been and ever shall be sanctified from the world and all that is therein. Indeed, were one to observe, not a farthing of the world and its trappings would be found with the emigrants. Praise be to the Beloved that He hath created all patient and thankful, and they have uttered not these words and their like save to cast doubt in hearts. They are heedless that the deed of God is manifest and evident as the sun, and every possessor of sight hath perceived and will perceive it.

O servant! With spiritual wings soar to the holy heaven of God, and having purified thyself from the hints of all else but Him, gaze upon the Most Great Scene. I swear by the Truth that My affliction is greater than can be mentioned, and My tribulation mightier than can be recorded by the pen. I do but complain of my grief and sorrow unto God, and verily He is the best Lord and the best Helper. God willing, in these days ye shall not be deprived of the wondrous favors of the eternal King, nor be forbidden the peerless wine of the All-Glorious. And the Glory be upon thee and upon all who are with thee among the steadfast, patient, thankful and assured believers.

BH08218: This is a remembrance of the handmaidens of God…

In the Name of God, the Most Wondrous, the Most Exalted!

This is a remembrance of the handmaidens of God who have believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, that they may, through the remembrance of God, detach themselves from all else save Him, and that the call of their Lord may sanctify them from whatsoever is repugnant to His good-pleasure. Verily, He is the One Who has power over whatsoever He willeth, and He, verily, is the Truth, the Knower of things unseen. It behooveth everyone who hath believed in God in this Most Great Revelation to restrain and refine his soul. Thus hath the matter been decreed from the presence of One Who is All-Knowing, All-Wise. And He commandeth all to sanctification that they may enter His Kingdom and stand before His presence. This is of His grace unto His servants, would that they might know. Blessed is the handmaiden who hath believed in God and attained unto that which God hath desired for her, whom the winds of passion have not moved and whom the conditions of self have not overturned. She is indeed of the people of Paradise. Thus hath it been inscribed by the Pen of Command in a mighty and glorious Tablet. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH08255: Magnified be Thy name, O Lord my God! I…

Magnified be Thy name, O Lord my God! I know not what the water is with which Thou hast created me, or what the fire Thou hast kindled within me, or the clay wherewith Thou hast kneaded me. The restlessness of every sea hath been stilled, but not the restlessness of this Ocean which moveth at the bidding of the winds of Thy will. The flame of every fire hath been extinguished except the Flame which the hands of Thine omnipotence have kindled, and whose radiance Thou hast, by the power of Thy name, shed abroad before all that are in Thy heaven and all that are on Thy earth. As the tribulations deepen, it waxeth hotter and hotter.

Behold, then, O my God, how Thy Light hath been compassed with the onrushing winds of Thy decree, how the tempests that blow and beat upon it from every side have added to its brightness and increased its splendor. For all this let Thee be praised.

I implore Thee, by Thy Most Great Name, and Thy most ancient sovereignty, to look upon Thy loved ones whose hearts have been sorely shaken by reason of the troubles that have touched Him Who is the Manifestation of Thine own Self. Powerful art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee. Thou art, verily, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH08263: Lauded be Thy name, O my God! Thou beholdest…

Lauded be Thy name, O my God! Thou beholdest how the tempestuous winds of tests have caused the steadfast in faith to tremble, and how the breath of trials hath stirred up those whose hearts had been firmly established, except such as have partaken of the Wine that is life indeed from the hands of the Manifestation of Thy name, the Most Merciful. These are the ones whom no word except Thy most exalted word can move, whom nothing whatever save the sweet smelling fragrance of the robe of Thy remembrance can enrapture, O Thou Who art the Possessor of all names and the Maker of earth and heaven!

I implore Thee, O Thou Who art the beloved Companion of Baha, by Thy name, the All-Glorious, to keep safe these Thy servants under the shadow of the wings of Thine all-encompassing mercy, that the darts of the evil suggestions of the wicked doers among Thy creatures, who have disbelieved in Thy signs, may be kept back from them. No one on earth, O my Lord, can withstand Thy power, and none in all the kingdom of Thy names is able to frustrate Thy purpose. Show forth, then, the power of Thy sovereignty and of Thy dominion, and teach Thy loved ones what beseemeth them in Thy days.

Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious, the Most Great.

BH08264: Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou hearest…

Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou hearest Thine ardent lovers lamenting in their separation from Thee, and such as have recognized Thee wailing because of their remoteness from Thy presence. Open Thou outwardly to their faces, O my Lord, the gates of Thy grace, that they may enter them by Thy leave and in conformity with Thy will, and may stand before the throne of Thy majesty, and catch the accents of Thy voice, and be illumined with the splendors of the light of Thy face.

Potent art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee. None can withstand the power of Thy sovereign might. From everlasting Thou wert alone, with none to equal Thee, and wilt unto everlasting remain far above all thought and every description of Thee. Have mercy, then, upon Thy servants by Thy grace and bounty, and suffer them not to be kept back from the shores of the ocean of Thy nearness. If Thou abandonest them, who is there to befriend them; and if Thou puttest them far from Thee, who is he that can favor them? They have none other Lord beside Thee, none to adore except Thyself. Deal Thou generously with them by Thy bountiful grace.

Thou, in truth, art the Ever-Forgiving, the Most Compassionate.

BH08266: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…

In the name of God, the Most High, the Most Exalted!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant whom Thou hast chosen for the Manifestation of Thyself, and whom Thou hast kindled with the fire of Thy love, and whom Thou hast caused to know the path of Thy good-pleasure, and whose name Thou hast inscribed in the Tablet of Thy decree. I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy Name through which Thou hast distinguished between all things created between earth and heaven, that Thou preserve him in this world from turning to any but Thee, and in the world to come cause him to dwell nigh unto Thy mercy. Then send down upon him at all times goodness from Thee and a blessing from Thy presence. Illumine his face, O my God, with the lights of Thy countenance, and make him one who remembers Thee amongst Thy creatures and extols Thy Being amidst Thy creation. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over what Thou willest and the Ordainer of all who are in earth and heaven. There is none other God but Thee, the Everlasting, the Powerful, the Most High, the Forgiving, the Generous. And praise be to God, the Lord of the heavens and earths.

BH08298: In the Name of God, the Most High…

In the Name of God, the Most High, the Most Glorious! Blessed is he who hath believed in God and soared in the atmosphere of His good-pleasure and drunk from the cup of His eternity and heard His call with his inner and outer ear and turned wholly unto Him and turned away from all else and was illumined by His lights and stood firm in His love and spoke in His remembrance and was enkindled with the fire of His love and arose to serve His Cause amidst His servants and whom tribulations did not prevent from His path nor calamities from His good-pleasure.

By God! He shall be present in My presence and shall circle round My majesty and shall soar with My Self in the atmosphere of My heavenly dominion and might and the cities of My grandeur and power.

Thus hath it been inscribed by the Most Exalted Pen in this Fortress which hath been built of solid rock. Verily thy Lord is the Doer of what He willeth, and He is, verily, powerful over all things.

And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

BH08303: Know thou that the heedless drove Us…

In the Name of Him at Whose fear the thunder trembleth!

Know thou that the heedless drove Us from the land of mystery, seeking thereby to extinguish God’s light amidst all else. But God frustrateth what they desire, and the Youth hath gone forth with such radiance as hath illumined all lands, such that no city among the cities of all peoples remaineth wherein the traces of thy Lord, the Mighty, the All-Knowing, have not been diffused. Can anyone extinguish what the hand of thy Lord’s power hath kindled? No, by His very Self, the Truth! Soon shalt thou find the lights of the sun therein. Thus hath the matter been decreed by the Ordainer, the All-Knowing.

Blessed art thou for having attained unto the recognition of thy Lord. Soon shalt thou find thy reward from the Rewarder, the All-Wise.

Grieve not for what hath befallen Us, though afflictions assail Us in their fullness and intensity, and We find Ourselves in evident constraint. Yet We find Our soul in such joy as cannot be equaled by the gladness of all the worlds. And praise be to God, the Lord of all worlds.

BH08423: The more tribulation increases, the more does my yearning…

He is God, exalted is He!

The more tribulation increases, the more does my yearning for God increase. Through it God distinguishes between the assured and the doubtful, between the heedless and the penitent. Through it ever has the garden of steadfastness been made verdant and the fountain of mercy and loving-kindness has overflowed. Whoso regards all things with an eye that is not veiled by displeasure and reflects upon their transience, their transformation and their alteration, will never grieve and will be content with what God has ordained for him. Can anyone distinguish between the bones of kings and subjects, or between the wealthy and the poor? No, by the Lord of kings! Since this is so, it behooveth every person of understanding to take heed, and every heedless one to awaken. We beseech God to aid His loved ones to do what He loveth and is pleased with, to detach them from this world and all that is therein. Verily, He is the Mighty, the Supreme, the All-Glorious.

BH08491: O loved ones of God! Be ye in such…

In the Name of God, the One with power over whatsoever He willeth!

O loved ones of God! Be ye in such a state and condition that the affairs of the world shall not prevent you from the Lord of earth and heaven. We revealed in a Tablet which We sent to one of the servants in Iraq aforetime that which hath been ordained and cannot be altered by change of mind, nor prevented by ransom, nor repelled by the powers of creation. With your Lord is the knowledge of what hath been and what shall be.

Ponder on that which was revealed aforetime from God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, and that wherein We are in these days, though they be dark and gloomy. The servants whose gaze is fixed upon the Most Sublime Horizon and whose faces are turned to the Most Resplendent Vision shall not be grieved thereby.

We beseech God to make you steadfast in His Cause in such wise that the whisperings of the deniers shall not cause you to slip, and to make you mindful of His Cause among the peoples of the world.

BH08604: O Thou Whose nearness is my wish, Whose presence…

O Thou Whose nearness is my wish, Whose presence is my hope, Whose remembrance is my desire, Whose court of glory is my goal, Whose abode is my aim, Whose name is my healing, Whose love is the radiance of my heart, Whose service is my highest aspiration! I beseech Thee by Thy Name, through which Thou hast enabled them that have recognized Thee to soar to the sublimest heights of the knowledge of Thee and empowered such as devoutly worship Thee to ascend into the precincts of the court of Thy holy favors, to aid me to turn my face towards Thy face, to fix mine eyes upon Thee, and to speak of Thy glory.

I am the one, O my Lord, who hath forgotten all else but Thee, and turned towards the Day-Spring of Thy grace, who hath forsaken all save Thyself in the hope of drawing nigh unto Thy court. Behold me, then, with mine eyes lifted up towards the Seat that shineth with the splendors of the light of Thy Face. Send down, then, upon me, O my Beloved, that which will enable me to be steadfast in Thy Cause, so that the doubts of the infidels may not hinder me from turning towards Thee.

Thou art, verily, the God of Power, the Help in Peril, the All-Glorious, the Almighty.

BH11832: Blessed is he who hath turned unto the Most…

In the name of God, the Ever-Abiding, Who perisheth not!

Blessed is he who hath turned unto the Most Great Ocean, whereof every drop proclaimeth that He is the God of the heavens and of the earth. Say: Two gulfs have branched out from it, blessed are they who understand. I counsel you, O people, to observe righteousness and to follow that which ye have been commanded in the Book of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Be thou assured through thy Lord’s grace, and take hold of the hem of God, the Protector, the Mighty, the Powerful. If thou findest one who hath turned unto Him, relate unto him the bounties of thy Lord. Thus hath the Pen of thy Ancient Lord commanded thee. When the Tablets of Fire are spread abroad, turn away from them, and suffice thyself with a gracious Book that hath been sent down unto thee from the presence of One mighty and powerful. By God! A single letter thereof is better for thee than all that hath been created on earth, and none deny this save the wicked and the remote. Say: Verily the Word of God is the most exalted, and it is God’s testimony unto all the worlds. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH11835: This is a Tablet from God, the Guardian…

He is the Glory of Glories

This is a Tablet from God, the Guardian, the Self-Subsisting, to one who has desired his Lord and borne in His path what none before him have borne. Hearken once again to the sweetest call from the direction of thy Most Glorious Lord, that My call may draw thee to My Kingdom and sever thee from all else but Me, and inspire thee with that which will bring rest to thy soul in My days and lighten thee of the burden of the earth and all who dwell thereon. Verily thy Lord is the All-Remembering, the All-Knowing. Those who are heedless shall soon know and shall find no intimate friend for themselves. Say: The bounty today is for one who follows God’s command, believes in God and turns away from his own desires. Thus doth God distinguish between the ungodly and the believers. Beware lest trials disturb thee. Remember thy Chosen Lord. Every remembrance shall perish except the remembrance of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Wise. And the glory be upon thee from the presence of One powerful and ancient.

BH11836: Say: O concourse of creation! By God, the Truth!…

In the name of the Most Great!

Say: O concourse of creation! By God, the Truth! The Glory (Baha) hath come unto you to purify you from vain desire and draw you nigh unto God, the Lord of the first and the last. Would ye slay him who calleth you unto everlasting life? Would ye deal unjustly with him who desireth justice amongst you? Would ye drive out him who hath come only to draw you nigh unto God, the Sovereign of all names? Woe unto you, O people! I know not in what valley ye wander or toward what face ye turn. Say:

O my God! Praise be unto Thee for having taken me by the hand of might and power, delivered me from the wicked ones, and caused me to enter among Thy righteous servants. I beseech Thee by Thy chosen Name to make me walk in the paths of Thy good-pleasure, though I be afflicted by the harm of Thine enemies. There is no God but Thee, the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Bountiful.

BH09064: This is a Book sent down through grace…

He is the Most Inaccessible, the Most Exalted, the Most Holy, the Most Luminous, the Most Glorious.

This is a Book sent down through grace from the heaven of God, the Sublime, the Great. Mentioned therein is that which draws people to the direction of the Throne, the seat of God, the Powerful, the Exalted, the All-Knowing. O Pen of Eternity! Remember Our servant that he may rejoice within himself and be in the religion of God like an immovable and manifest mountain, such that neither the winds of those who have disbelieved nor the whisperings of devils can move him, and that the light of his Lord may shine forth from his face, guiding every doubtful ignorant one. Thus have you been commanded, O Hasan, that you may be beneficent in the Cause of your Lord and stand firm in the Command of God, the King, the Mighty, the Powerful. And the glory be upon you and upon those who have believed in God and whom the opposition of the opposers has not moved. And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH08678: O Ali! Bear thou witness in thyself, even…

He is the Mighty.

O Ali! Bear thou witness in thyself, even as God did testify before the creation of the heavens and before all things appeared in the vestures of being, that there is none other God but Him, and that He Who hath appeared from the horizon of the Unseen is verily the Sovereign of existence in both the unseen and visible realms. And thou, give thanks unto God for having blessed thee with His presence and caused thee to attain unto a station of praiseworthy nearness, and made thee to hear His melodies, and to know His beauty, and hath sent down upon thee His words that there is none other God but Him, the Mighty, the Loving. Thus doth God cast upon thee that which shall transform thee from thy self and shall bring thee to a shore of manifest glory. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon all who walk upon God’s manifest and extended Path.

BH08954: Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou…

He is God!

Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God! Thou hearest the cry of the yearning ones in their remoteness and separation, and the wailing of the lovers in their distance and longing. I beseech Thee by the hearts wherein are treasured the pearls of Thy hidden knowledge, and which Thou hast made the dawning-places of the mysteries of what was and what will be, to draw Thy seeking servants nigh unto the seat of the glory of Thy oneness, then cause them to enter, O my God, the pavilion of Thy mercy and favors, and the canopy of Thy nearness and kindness. O my God, gaze upon me with the glances of Thy grace, then send down upon me that which will make me detached from all else but Thee and will cause me to speak Thy praise amongst Thy servants. Draw me, O my God, in such wise that there may be manifested from me that whereby the hearts of all the worlds will be attracted. Then grant me that which will make me independent of all else besides Thee. Verily Thou art powerful over all things, and praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH09059: This is a Book from Us to him who…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

This is a Book from Us to him who hath believed and been guided, that the call of his Lord may draw him to the ultimate station, round which circle the Sadratu’l-Muntaha. By God! He is verily the supreme Sign, the Most Great Sign, the Lord of the throne and of the dust, the Sovereign of the hereafter and of this world. O servant! If thou art seized by the attraction of the verses and by the fragrance of thy Lord’s garment, the Lord of names and attributes, then detach thyself from thyself and from all thou beholdest, and turn with thy heart unto God, thy Lord, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious. Thus have We called out to thee from the shore of eternity in the Crimson Spot. This is of thy Lord’s grace unto thee, that thou mayest be of them who remember. Take hold of God’s Tablet through His power, and follow not him who hath turned away from guidance.

BH09100: Thy Lord is God; naught is there save Him

Thy Lord is God; naught is there save Him

O people of Baha! Adorn your temples with the ornament of trustworthiness and courtesy, and your heads with the crown of truthfulness and wisdom. Thus have you been commanded by God, the Lord of all beings. Fear God, O people of insight. Say: He commands you that which benefits you. If you follow My way, verily He will guide you to the straight path. Whoso is adorned with the ornament of My character traits verily shines forth in the kingdom and by him the horizons are illumined. Hold fast to My nature. By My life! Through virtuous character your station is elevated and your glory becomes manifest throughout the lands. Those who follow their desires and turn away from guidance, they are but in loss. Through deeds is the station of men made manifest. Blessed is he from whose deeds waft the sweet fragrances of holiness and from whose utterance the perfume of wisdom. He is the lamp of guidance among creation, to which the Mighty, the All-Knowing bears witness.

BH08782: A remembrance from Baha unto His servant, that He…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted

A remembrance from Baha unto His servant, that He might detach him from all who are in the heavens and on earth and draw him nigh unto a Beauty wondrous indeed. O servant! Be thou steadfast in the Cause of thy Lord, and deprive not thyself of the shores of eternity, from whose every sandhill there calleth out:

“There is none other God but Him, and verily He hath appeared with a mighty sovereignty.”

Leave the kingdom behind thee, then ascend unto this heaven which was, in truth, exalted high. Arise to serve the Cause, then make mention of it to them that have sought the countenance of the All-Merciful, that perchance the breaths of the Cause may attract them to a holy and resplendent spot. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon every faithful soul.

BH08783: God makes mention of His servant in the heaven…

He is the Most Exalted, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious.

God makes mention of His servant in the heaven of eternity, that he may remember through the remembrance of God in these days wherein all have turned away from the Beauty Who hath appeared in the heaven of creation and Who speaketh at every moment saying:

“There is no God but Me, the Mighty, the Glorious, the All-Forgiving.”

O servant! Bear thou witness even as thy Lord hath borne witness, and turn not unto those who have disbelieved in God and whose souls are veiled by veils and coverings. Be thou steadfast in the Cause and turn not unto anyone, and in all matters place thy trust in God, thy Lord. Verily He will protect thee from the wicked. Beware lest thou forget God’s favor upon thee; rather remember Him in the evening and at dawn.

BH08849: Praised be Thou, O my God! Thou seest how…

Praised be Thou, O my God! Thou seest how Thy righteous servants have fallen into the hands of the wicked doers, who have disbelieved in Thy name, the Unconstrained, and denied Thy majesty, and Thine unrestrained authority, and Thy strength, and Thy sovereign might. Their mouths utter what the mouths of the Jews uttered aforetime.

Put forth, therefore, out of the bosom of Thy glory, O my Lord, the hand of Thine omnipotence, and through it assist Thou Thy loved ones who, though sore-tried in Thy path with such trials as have caused the inmates of the kingdom of Thy Cause to groan, were not deterred from turning towards the horizon of Thy Revelation.

Set, then, the seal of Thine unerring protection on their hearts, O my Lord, lest perchance the remembrance of aught else except Thee enter therein. Make them able, moreover, to proclaim Thy name amidst Thy creatures, and supply them with the best of what Thou hast destined for such of Thy chosen ones as enjoy near access to Thee.

Potent art Thou to do Thy pleasure. Thou truly art the All-Glorious, to whom all cry for help.

BH08822: Glorified art Thou, O Lord my God! I beseech…

Glorified art Thou, O Lord my God! I beseech Thee by Him Who is Thy Most Great Name, Who hath been sorely afflicted by such of Thy creatures as have repudiated Thy truth, and Who hath been hemmed in by sorrows which no tongue can describe, to grant that I may remember Thee and celebrate Thy praise, in these days when all have turned away from Thy beauty, have disputed with Thee, and turned away disdainfully from Him Who is the Revealer of Thy Cause. None is there, O my Lord, to help Thee except Thine own Self, and no power to succor Thee save Thine own power.

I entreat Thee to enable me to cleave steadfastly to Thy Love and Thy remembrance. This is, verily, within my power, and Thou art the One that knoweth all that is in me. Thou, in truth, art knowing, apprised of all. Deprive me not, O my Lord, of the splendors of the light of Thy face, whose brightness hath illuminated the whole world. No God is there beside Thee, the Most Powerful, the All-Glorious, the Ever-Forgiving.

BH08852: Glory to Thee, O my God! One of Thy…

Glory to Thee, O my God! One of Thy handmaidens, who hath believed in Thee and in Thy signs, hath entered beneath the shadow of the tree of Thy oneness. Give her to quaff, O my God, by Thy Name, the Manifest and the Hidden, of Thy choice sealed Wine that it may take her away from her own self, and make her to be entirely devoted to Thy remembrance, and wholly detached from any one beside Thee.

Now that Thou hast revealed unto her the knowledge of Thee, O my Lord, deny her not, by Thy bounty, Thy grace; and now that Thou hast called her unto Thyself, drive her not away from Thee, through Thy favor. Supply her, then, with that which excelleth all that can be found on Thine earth. Thou art, verily, the Most Bountiful, Whose grace is immense.

Wert Thou to bestow on one of Thy creatures what would equal the kingdoms of earth and heaven, it would still not diminish by even as much as an atom the immensity of Thy dominion. Far greater art Thou than the Great One men are wont to call Thee, for such a title is but one of Thy names all of which were created by a mere indication of Thy will.

There is no God but Thee, the God of power, the God of glory, the God of knowledge and wisdom.

BH08736: O divine maidservant! God willing, may you ever be…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O divine maidservant! God willing, may you ever be and continue to be occupied with the remembrance of the Beloved of the world. The mention of God is the companion of souls and the quickener of hearts. Strive to become free from mention of aught else through His remembrance, and with perfect steadfastness and detachment find rest beneath the shadow of His mercy. Today the manifestations of Satan are occupied with all manner of schemes to prevent the people from drawing near to the shore of oneness. Hold fast to the hem of the Friend and cling to the Divine Lote Tree, lest contaminated winds sever that leaf from the Tree of the Cause. This is a Day wherein the Beloved speaks “We have known thee” and Moses declares “Verily we have seen thee.” Strive that you may not lag behind those who seek the Abha City. This is God’s counsel to His male and female servants.

BH09108: O Thou Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of one…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

O Thou Most Exalted Pen! Make mention of one of the handmaidens, that the call of her Lord, the Most High, may attract her from the direction of ʿAkka and cause her to soar in the atmosphere wherein blow the breezes of the mercy of her Lord, the Mighty, the Bountiful. O My handmaiden! Detach thyself from all else but Me and take comfort in My remembrance. Thus hath the Tongue of My Will commanded thee from within the pavilion of My majesty. Beware lest the veils of idle fancies prevent thee from the Purpose of the worlds. Be thou thankful that the Pen, through which was detailed the knowledge of what hath been and what is to be in the Tablet of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, hath been moved to make mention of thee. Be thou steadfast in My Cause and grieve thou not over aught save My tribulations, for I testify that I am in manifest joy. And the glory be upon thee and upon those handmaidens who have believed in God, the Single, the One, the Most High, the Great.

BH08848: Praise be unto Thee, O my God! Thou seest…

In the name of God, the Most Holy, the most Glorious

Praise be unto Thee, O my God! Thou seest how He Who is Thy Light hath been shut up in the fortress-town of ʿAkka, and been sore oppressed by reason of what the hands of the wicked doers have wrought, whose corrupt desires have kept them back from turning towards Thee, O Thou Who art the King of all names!

I swear by Thy glory! Tribulations, however woeful, can never hinder me from remembering Thee or from celebrating Thy praise. Every vexation borne for love of Thee is a token of Thy mercy unto Thy creatures, and every ordeal suffered in Thy path is but a gift from Thee bestowed on Thy chosen ones. I testify that my countenance, which shineth above the Day-Spring of eternity, hath been irradiated by adversity, and my body hath been adorned by it before all who are in heaven and all who are on earth.

I pray Thee, by Thy Most Great Name, to aid all them that have believed on Thee and on Thy signs to be steadfast in Thy love and to set themselves towards the Dawning-Place of the Day-Star of Thy loving-kindness. Inspire them, then, O my God, with what will unloose their tongue to praise Thee, and will draw them nigh unto Thee in the life that now is and the life that is to come.

Thou truly art the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Beneficent.

BH08825: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast subdued all who are in the heavens and on earth to preserve the lamp of Thy Cause within the glass of Thy power and bounty, lest the winds of denial blow upon it from the direction of those who have been heedless of the mysteries of Thy chosen Name. Then increase its light through the oil of Thy wisdom. Verily, Thou art the Powerful over those who are in Thy earth and Thy heaven. O Lord! I beseech Thee by the Most Great Word whereby all who are in earth and heaven were seized with terror, save those who held fast to the Sure Handle, that Thou leave me not among Thy creatures, but raise me up unto Thee and cause me to enter beneath the shadow of Thy mercy and give me to drink of the pure wine of Thy bounty, that I may dwell in the pavilion of Thy glory and the canopies of Thy favors. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and Thou art the All-Compelling, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08834: Glorified art Thou, O Lord, my God! Thou seest…

In the Name of God, the Ever-Abiding.

Glorified art Thou, O Lord, my God! Thou seest me in the hands of Mine enemies, and My son bloodstained before Thy face, O Thou in Whose hands is the kingdom of all names. I have, O my Lord, offered up that which Thou hast given Me, that Thy servants may be quickened and all that dwell on earth be united. I beseech Thee, O Quickener of hearts, by Thy Name whereby the Most Great Distinction hath been made manifest among mankind, to send down from the clouds of Thy mercy upon Thy loved ones that which shall draw them nigh unto Thee. Then rend, O my God, the veil that hath intervened between Thee and Thy servants, that they may recognize Thee in Thy days and turn unto their goal which hath descended from the heaven of Thy Cause. Then ordain, O my God, for them that have set their faces toward the Most Remote Spot and toward Thy Most Glorious Horizon, that which Thou hast ordained for the sincere among Thy creatures, who have attained unto Thy presence and hearkened unto Thy call. Verily Thou art the Omnipotent, the Mighty, the Generous.

BH09162: O Thou Whose face is the object…

O Thou Whose face is the object of the adoration of all that yearn after Thee, Whose presence is the hope of such as are wholly devoted to Thy will, Whose nearness is the desire of all that have drawn nigh unto Thy court, Whose countenance is the companion of those who have recognized Thy truth, Whose name is the mover of the souls that long to behold Thy face, Whose voice is the true life of Thy lovers, the words of Whose mouth are as the waters of life unto all who are in heaven and on earth!

I beseech Thee, by the wrong Thou hast suffered and the ills inflicted upon Thee by the hosts of wrongful doers, to send down upon me from the clouds of Thy mercy that which will purify me of all that is not of Thee, that I may be worthy to praise Thee and fit to love Thee.

Withhold not from me, O my Lord, the things Thou didst ordain for such of Thy handmaidens as circle around Thee, and on whom are poured continually the splendors of the sun of Thy beauty and the beams of the brightness of Thy face. Thou art He Who from everlasting hath succored whosoever hath sought Thee, and bountifully favored him who hath asked Thee.

No God is there beside Thee, the Mighty, the Ever-Abiding, the All-Bounteous, the Most Generous.

BH08837: O my God! Glory be unto Thee! Aid, then…

He is the Most Manifest

O my God! Glory be unto Thee! Aid, then, O my God, him who hath loved Thee and hath sought Thy face. He hath indeed arrived, O my God, upon the shore of Thy Cause and Thy good-pleasure, and hath held fast unto the cord of Thy bounties.

I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast guided them that are nigh unto Thee to the dawning-places of the lights of Thy countenance, and hast caused them that love Thee to soar in the atmosphere of Thy nearness and reunion, and hast given to drink unto them that long for Thee from the chalices of Thy love and knowledge—to ordain for him through Thy Most Exalted Pen that which Thou hast ordained for Thy chosen ones and the best among Thy creatures.

Then grant him, through Thy grace and bounty, the good of this world and of the next. Then open through him, O my God, the doors that are shut, then quicken through him the dead hearts, then exalt him through Thy Name in Thy dominion.

Verily, Thou art the Powerful through Thy sovereignty. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Forgiving.

BH11838: O Husayn! This is not a day of sorrow…

In the name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

O Husayn! This is not a day of sorrow. Rejoice among the concourse of all worlds, then soar with the wings of certitude into the atmosphere of thy Lord’s mercy, the All-Merciful. Say: O my Lord! All praise be unto Thee for having adorned my head with the crown of tribulation in Thy path, O Creator of the heavens! By this do I glory amidst the concourse of all names, and verily Thou art the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

Follow My nature in all matters, such that neither grief prevent thee from Him Who is the Sovereign of all nations, nor tribulation veil thee from the Most Exalted Horizon. Soon shall come days when the believers shall remember your names and lament over what ye have borne in the path of your Lord, the Almighty, the All-Powerful. Verily, tribulation hath not prevented him from the remembrance of his Lord. Thy Lord is, in truth, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Praise be to God, the Mighty, the Great.

BH08686: O Muhammad! Rise to serve God and His Cause…

He is God, exalted is He in might and grandeur

O Muhammad! Rise to serve God and His Cause, and be a crimson flame unto the enemies of My Most Glorious Beauty and a white light unto the manifestations of My Most Exalted Name. Thus hath it been ordained for you from the heaven of mighty glory. Hold fast to a branch of this Tree which hath been raised up in truth, lest thou fall from the storms of days. Be steadfast in the Cause of thy Lord in truth, and be mindful in all thy days of the wondrous remembrance of thy Lord, that thou mayest find in thyself great joy. For the remembrance of God removeth all darkness from the hearts of His servants and rendereth them sanctified from all else besides Him. Thus have We remembered thee and commanded thee in this Tablet which is, in truth, wondrous.

BH08679: O ʿAli! We have learned of thy return…

In the Name of God, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed, the All-Kind, the All-Bountiful!

O ʿAli! We have learned of thy return to the City of God. Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God! All praise be to Thee for having caused me to return unto it.

I beseech Thee by Thy Name which Thou hast made as a fire unto the deniers and a paradise unto them that have recognized Thy unity, to take my hand with the hand of Thy power and sovereignty and deliver me from the depths of the imaginings of them that harbor doubts. Then cause me to be sincere before Thy face and to inhale the fragrance of the garment of Thy Cause, that I may be wholly detached from all else save Thee, and arise to serve Thy Cause, and aid Thy religion. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest.

Ordain for me that which Thou hast purposed, then send down upon me that which Thou hast loved and decreed, O Thou Who art the Beloved of the hearts of them that know Thee, and the Object of desire of the hearts of them that love Thee, and the Ultimate Goal of them that long for Thee, and the Hope of them that place their hopes in Thee.

BH08680: O Ghulam! Hearken unto the call of this Youth…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious

O Ghulam! Hearken unto the call of this Youth, through Whose countenance the heavens and earth were illumined—though, if thou shouldst inquire about Him, by God at this very moment He hath been cast into a pit and speaketh at all times saying:

“O people of the Bayan! Detach yourselves from whatsoever hindereth you from God and from recognizing the Manifestation of His Self, and turn unto Him with faces radiant and resplendent.”

And thou, O servant, arise to serve the Cause and turn not thy face to anyone among all who have been created between the heavens and the earth, for the Cause hath appeared in truth, and every possessor of knowledge, however learned, hath been thunderstruck thereby. Ascend on the wings of holiness to that station which hath been illumined with the lights of sanctity. Thus doth thy Lord command thee, that thou mayest find for thyself a path unto God and remain steadfast in the Cause.

BH08684: O Kalim! Hear My call, then soar…

He is God.

O Kalim! Hear My call, then soar in the atmosphere of the spirit and grieve not over anything. Then assist the Cause with an impregnable steadfastness. Today it is incumbent upon you to remain steadfast in the Cause and to assist it, for the ungodly have stood firm in their dissension and are at all times occupied with new schemes. God willing, you must, through the breaths of glory from the All-Merciful and the holy favors of the Eternal, arise at all times with utmost effort to assist the Cause. Furthermore, a Tablet was sent in reply to Sulayman. Consider it carefully. Thus have We commanded thee in truth, that thou mayest be among them that act. And the spirit and glory and splendor be upon thee and upon those who are with thee and who love thee for the sake of God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH08731: O my Lord! I am he who was heedless…

O my Lord! I am he who was heedless of the revelations of Thy grandeur in Thy days, and was asleep upon the couch of negligence after the exaltation of Thy Word. Praise be unto Thee, O my God, for having rent asunder my veil and guided me unto Thee. I beseech Thee, therefore, by Thy Self, to accept from me that which escaped me when the breezes of Thy grace were wafting. Forgive me, O my God, my grievous trespasses and my grave transgressions. Then make me as the day I was born of my mother, that I may call upon Thee with a pure tongue and an illumined heart. Verily, Thou art the Powerful, the Mighty, the Omnipotent. O my Lord! Make me and my family steadfast in Thy love and praise, that we might make good what hath escaped us in Thy days. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Generous.

BH08830: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

He is the Most Ancient

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Hidden Name, and Thy Manifest Beauty, and by the Manifestation of Thy Supreme Self, Who is visible from this Most Glorious Horizon, to protect me and my loved ones through Thy Most Great Protection and Thy mercy which hath preceded earth and heaven. Then cause us to be of those who have tasted the sweetness of Thy remembrance and who have detached themselves from all else besides Thee. Then make us, O my God, a mercy unto Thy loved ones and a wrath unto Thine enemies. O my God, we are Thy servants and Thy creation and are in the grasp of Thy power. I beseech Thee by Thy Self and by Him Whom Thou hast manifested as a revelation of Thy sovereignty, to aid us in that which Thou lovest and approvest. Verily Thou art He through Whose power all who possess power have derived their power. There is no God but Thee, the Exalted, the Supreme, the Help in Peril. Praise be to God, the Sovereign, the Omnipotent, the Supreme, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

BH08850: All praise be to Thee, O my God! Thou…

He is the Almighty

All praise be to Thee, O my God! Thou beholdest my helplessness and poverty, and bearest witness unto my woes and trials. How long wilt Thou abandon me among Thy servants? Suffer me to ascend into Thy presence. The power of Thy might beareth me witness! Such are the tribulations with which I am encompassed that I am powerless to recount them before Thy face. Thou, alone, verily, hast through Thy knowledge reckoned them.

I beseech Thee, O Thou Who art my Companion in my lowliness, to rain down upon Thy loved ones from the clouds of Thy mercy that which will cause them to be satisfied with Thy pleasure, and will enable them to turn unto Thee and to be detached from all else except Thee. Ordain, then, for them every good conceived by Thee and predestined in Thy Book. Thou art, verily, the All-Powerful, He Whom nothing whatsoever can frustrate. From everlasting Thou hast been clothed with transcendent greatness and power, with unspeakable majesty and glory. There is no God beside Thee, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Ever-Forgiving.

Glorified be Thy name, Thou in Whose hand are the kingdoms of earth and heaven.

BH08823: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech…

He is the Preserver

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name, through which whoso hath borne it hath not drowned in the seas, nor been affected by the arrows of the wicked, nor been altered by poisons and denial, and through which every sinner hath attained the robe of Thy forgiveness and every sick one the garment of Thy healing, to make me so steadfast in Thy Cause that association with Thy creatures and fellowship with Thy servants shall not make me heedless, and to preserve me from every affliction and evil and pestilence and malady, and from the arrows of the intimations of the heedless and the swords of the allusions of those who turn away and the denial of the deniers. Then send down upon me, O my God, from the clouds of Thy mercy that which Thou hast promised me. Verily Thou art the best of those who send down and the best of those who fulfill their promise. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Beautiful.

BH08836: Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God! Thou…

Praise be to Thee, O Lord my God! Thou seest my tears and lamentations, and hearest my sighing, my cry and bitter wailing. I am the one, O my Lord, that hath held fast the cord of Thy mercy which hath surpassed the entire creation. I am the one that hath clung to the hem of Thy loving-kindness, O Thou in Whose hand is the empire of all names!

Have mercy upon me and upon them that are in my company, through the wonders of Thy grace and power. Shield us, then, O my God, from the mischief of Thine enemies, and assist us to help Thy Faith, and to protect Thy Cause, and to celebrate Thy glory. Thou art, verily, He Who from everlasting hath inhabited the inaccessible heights of His unity, and will continue to remain the same for ever and ever. Nothing whatsoever escapeth Thy knowledge, nor is there anything that can frustrate Thee. No God is there beside Thee, the Almighty, the Ever-Faithful, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious, the Best-Beloved.

Lauded and glorified art Thou, in Whose hand is the empire of all things!

BH08824: Magnified, O Lord my God, be Thy Name, whereby…

In the name of God, the Most Holy

Magnified, O Lord my God, be Thy Name, whereby the trees of the garden of Thy Revelation have been clad with verdure, and been made to yield the fruits of holiness during this Springtime when the sweet savors of Thy favors and blessings have been wafted over all things, and caused them to bring forth whatsoever had been preordained for them in the Kingdom of Thine irrevocable decree and the Heaven of Thine immutable purpose. I beseech Thee by this very Name not to suffer me to be far from the court of Thy holiness, nor debarred from the exalted sanctuary of Thy unity and oneness.

Ignite, then, O my God, within my breast the fire of Thy love, that its flame may burn up all else except my remembrance of Thee, that every trace of corrupt desire may be entirely mortified within me, and that naught may remain except the glorification of Thy transcendent and all-glorious Being. This is my highest aspiration, mine ardent desire, O Thou Who rulest all things, and in Whose hand is the kingdom of the entire creation. Thou, verily, doest what Thou choosest. No God is there beside Thee, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Ever-Forgiving.

BH09056: This is a Book from God, the Mighty…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

This is a Book from God, the Mighty, the Wise. Verily it is the spirit of life unto all the worlds. In every word of thy Lord’s verses is concealed a spirit which, should God permit it to appear, would cause the heavens and earth to be drawn unto it. He who hath found the fragrance of the All-Merciful in this Day will stand firm in the Cause in such wise that those who have disbelieved shall not turn him aside. Verily thy Lord will aid whomsoever hath desired His presence. He is with His sincere servants. O thou who gazest, gaze and thou shalt behold Me. Verily he who hath turned unto Me is of them who have seen Me. Thy Lord is witness to what I say. Leave the dead and hold fast unto the Name through which every sincere and trustworthy one hath held fast. Aid thy Lord amongst His servants. This is what God hath prescribed for everyone who hath believed in Him in this mighty Revelation.

BH08785: A mention from Us to her who hath believed…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most High

A mention from Us to her who hath believed in God and hath turned with a luminous countenance toward the Dayspring of grace, that the words of the Lord of Names and Attributes may attract her and may cause her to turn unto the Dawning-Place of verses. Thus hath it been inscribed by the Pen of the Ancient of Days upon a sublime and wondrous Tablet. O My handmaiden! Know thou that We have found in thy heart the love of God, the Manifestation of His Essence, and We have sent unto thee this Tablet that thou mayest find therein that which will rejoice thy heart and solace thine eyes. Verily, the grace of thy Lord hath encompassed the worlds. We have ordained for thee in the All-Glorious Paradise a station such as none have attained among those who have tasted the sweetness of love in this Most Great, this Most Mighty Revelation. Grieve thou not over anything. Verily, thy Lord is with thee. He, verily, sufficeth thee, and He, verily, is powerful over all things.

BH08891: Blessed is he who hath drunk from the Salsabil…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Holy!

Blessed is he who hath drunk from the Salsabil of immortality proffered by the hand of his Lord, the Most High, and stood firm in his love for his Lord in such wise that neither tribulations could hinder him from turning towards the All-Glorious Horizon nor destiny’s decree could veil him from beholding the Lord of Names. The world hath passed and shall pass away. Woe unto him who hath turned away from this Ocean through which the life of all worlds was sustained. Blessed is he who hath turned towards it and drunk therefrom and whom the might of the oppressors hath not deterred. Thou, verily, grieve not over anything. Purify thyself from whatsoever hindereth thee from remembering Me. Will anything on earth profit anyone when death overtaketh him? Nay, by the Lord of all worlds! Blessed is he unto whom death is the ultimate annihilation and the beginning of his immortality through God, the Almighty, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

BH09060: This is a Book from Us to one…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

This is a Book from Us to one of Our handmaidens, that she may rejoice in the remembrance of God and be numbered among the devout. O My handmaiden! Hearken unto My call, then detach thyself from all that hath been created in earth and heaven. Verily, thy Lord is with those among His remembering servants and His pure handmaidens who have turned towards His Countenance. Remember thy Lord with this prayer:

O Thou in Whose hand is the kingdom of earth and heaven, and within Whose grasp is the empire of destiny! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which the greatest veil was rent asunder and the Most Pure Manifestation appeared from the horizon of Thy Command, to draw me nigh unto the seat of the throne of Thy oneness in Thy holy court, that I may hearken unto Thy call. Verily, Thou art the Omnipotent over what Thou willest, and Thou art the Ever-Forgiving, the All-Bountiful.

BH09058: This is a Book from Us to her who…

In the Name of God, the Most Wondrous, the Most Holy

This is a Book from Us to her who hath believed in her Lord, that the melodies of her Lord may attract her once again from this Most Exalted Scene, the Spot wherein have shone forth the lights of the countenance of our Most Glorious Lord. O My handmaiden! Grieve not, but rather purify thyself from this world and all that is therein, and thy heart from all that pertaineth thereunto, that the Sun of the remembrance of the name of thy Lord may shine upon it. Know thou that this world shall pass away. Were all the treasures of the earth to be gathered before thee, not one of them would profit thee when the messenger of thy Chosen Lord cometh unto thee. And that which hath been ordained for thee in the Kingdom of thy Lord shall not profit thee. Seek thou, therefore, from the bounty of thy Lord that which He hath ordained for thee. Verily, He is the Best of Givers and the Most Merciful of the merciful. And the Spirit and Glory be upon those handmaidens who have believed in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08901: Know thou, O wayfarer unto God, that all things…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

Know thou, O wayfarer unto God, that all things bear witness that thou hast attained unto the presence of God, the Lord of the worlds to come and of those gone before, and hast entered the spot whereof every atom proclaimeth: “There is none other God but Him, the Most Exalted, the Most High.” Hearken thou unto My call, and grieve not because of them that have disbelieved in God on this Day wherein He hath established Himself upon the throne and calleth from the depths of earth: “Say: Glory be to Thee, O my God! Praise be unto Thee for having destined for me the best of all worlds, inasmuch as Thou hast caused me to appear in a place before which bow down in adoration all who are in the heavens and on earth. I beseech Thee, O my Lord, by Thine own Self, to make me steadfast in Thy Cause, firm in Thy service, and to ordain for me that which is best for me. Thou, verily, art the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.”

BH08638: Although the darkness of oppression hath encompassed all regions…

He is God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

Although the darkness of oppression hath encompassed all regions and the hand of tyranny of the oppressors hath been stretched forth against the oppressed, yet praise be to God that from the holy divine horizon the Sun of the Most Great Remembrance hath dawned forth and ere long its radiance shall prevail and consume the veil of darkness. Although today the people are deprived of beholding the lights of the Sun due to the clouds of fancy and imagination, yet ere long the fingers of destiny shall rend asunder the intervening veil and the rays of the Sun shall encompass all. Then shall they say:

“Would that we had not been negligent in our duty to God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting!”

O friends of Truth! Today ye must be detached from all save God and, with complete certitude and perfect assurance, turn toward the All-Merciful. And peace be upon you.

BH08761: O Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious One!

O Most Holy, Most Great, Most Glorious One!

Thou seest, O my God, Thy loved ones in dire abasement through that which the hands of the wicked have wrought. O Lord! They have turned toward Thee and acknowledged Thy oneness, and for this there hath befallen them that which hath caused the dwellers of the pavilion of Thy grandeur to lament, and those who abide within the tabernacles of Thy glory and majesty to weep. O Lord! Strengthen them through Thy sovereignty; then rend asunder the veils that stand between Thee and Thy creatures, that they may behold what Thou hast ordained for them through Thy bounty and favor. Draw nigh, O my God, unto them that desire Thy reunion and presence, then cause them to enter the precincts of Thy mercy. O Lord! Deprive them not of the fragrant breezes of Thy nearness and the sweet savors of Thy verses. Then preserve them, O my God, beneath the shade of Thy mercy, and illumine their eyes with the light of Thy knowledge and their hearts with the lights of Thy throne. Thou, verily, art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest, and Thou art the Protector, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08826: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

In the Name of God, the Exalted, the Most High!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou didst distinguish between Thy lovers and Thine enemies, and through which was manifested Thy sovereignty and Thy power, to send down from the heaven of Thy Will that which will purify the hearts of the doubters among Thy servants and the heedless among Thy creatures, that all may know Thee in the garment of Thy unity and bear witness to Thy oneness. O my God! None hath any refuge save Thee, nor any path except unto Thee. At this moment all journeys have ended in a single journey, which is their turning from all else unto Thee. Therefore, make known to the people of Thy realm this clear and straight path, that they may walk therein and attain unto Thy knowledge and Thy good-pleasure. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest. There is no God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08829: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

In the Name of God, the Mighty, the All-Knowing!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name, the Self-Subsisting, through which Thou didst give glad tidings to Thy servants and made it the Sustainer of all names and the Guardian over all things, to assist me to love Thee and praise Thee, and to make me detached from those who have denied Thee and Thy signs, who have turned away from Thee and Thy proof, and who have objected to Thee and to the Manifestation of Thy Self Who came from the heaven of inner meanings with Thy revelation and Thy inspiration. Verily, Thou art powerful over whatsoever Thou willest through Thy Will and Purpose. O my God! Drive not this poor one from the door of Thy riches, and remove not this handmaiden from the paradise of Thy nearness and Thy presence. I have, O my God, acknowledged Thy oneness, therefore accept me through Thy mercy, for verily Thou art the Mighty, the Forgiving, the Generous.

BH08838: Lauded be Thy name, O Lord my God! Darkness…

Lauded be Thy name, O Lord my God! Darkness hath fallen upon every land, and the forces of mischief have encompassed all the nations. Through them, however, I perceive the splendors of Thy wisdom, and discern the brightness of the light of Thy providence.

They that are shut out as by a veil from Thee have imagined that they have the power to put out Thy light, and to quench Thy fire, and to still the winds of Thy grace. Nay, and to this Thy might beareth me witness! Had not every tribulation been made the bearer of Thy wisdom, and every ordeal the vehicle of Thy providence, no one would have dared oppose us, though the powers of earth and heaven were to be leagued against us. Were I to unravel the wondrous mysteries of Thy wisdom which are laid bare before me, the reins of Thine enemies would be cleft asunder.

Glorified be Thou, then, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name to assemble them that love Thee around the Law that streameth from the good-pleasure of Thy will, and to send down upon them what will assure their hearts.

Potent art Thou to do what pleaseth Thee. Thou art, verily, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

BH08839: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…

In the Name of Him Who is remembered but not known!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant who hath been illumined by the lamp of Thy oneness and hath turned toward the seat of the throne of Thy grandeur, and hath found the breezes of Thy name, the All-Glorious, from the right hand of certitude from this direction wherein Thy sovereignty hath been established over all who are in the heavens and on earth, and Thy countenance hath shone forth unto Thy creatures who were not prevented by the veils of glory from turning unto Thy majesty nor by the veils of error from beholding Thy beauty.

I beseech Thee, O Lord of all beings and Cleaver of the dawn, deny him not the wonders of Thy knowledge nor deprive him from the sanctuary of Thy holiness and the Kaaba of Thy unity. Then inspire him with that which will cause him to soar at all times in the atmosphere of Thy might, O Fashioner of the worlds and Creator of all creation!

There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Powerful, the All-Bountiful.

BH08853: Glorified art Thou, O Lord my God! Thou hast…

Glorified art Thou, O Lord my God! Thou hast, in Thine all highest Paradise, assigned unto Thy servants such stations that if any one of them were to be unveiled to men’s eyes all who are in heaven and all who are on earth would be dumbfounded. By Thy might! Were kings to witness so great a glory they would, assuredly, rid themselves of their dominions and cleave to such of their subjects as have entered beneath the shadow of Thine immeasurable mercy and sought the shelter of Thine all-glorious name.

I implore Thee, O thou Who art the Beloved of the worlds and the Desire of all that have recognized Thee, by Thy name, through which Thou stirrest up whom Thou willest and drawest toward Thee whom Thou pleasest, to open the eyes of all that are dear to Thee, that haply they may not be veiled from Thee as the peoples of the earth are, but may outwardly perceive the signs and tokens of Thy power, and inwardly apprehend the things Thou didst ordain for them in the realms of Thy glory.

Potent art Thou to do Thy pleasure. Thou art the one alone Beloved in both this world and in the next. No God is there but Thee, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious.

BH08858: The All-Glorious, The Most Holy

The All-Glorious, The Most Holy

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Aid Thy servants to turn towards the Dawning-Place of Thy revelation and inspiration, and Thy handmaidens to the horizon of Thy Cause and the dayspring of Thy guidance. O my God! Thou knowest that my call hath not been raised except for the triumph of Thy Cause and the salvation of Thy creatures. Draw them through it, O my Beloved, to the heaven of Thy bounty and the atmosphere of Thy mercy and the direction of Thy loving-kindness. O Lord! They are asleep and know nothing. I beseech Thee by the Bearer of Thy Cause to make them among those who have detached themselves from all else but Thee and hastened to the fountain of Thy recognition. Then adorn, O my God, their tongues with Thy remembrance and praise, their hearts with Thy love and steadfastness in Thy Cause, and their breasts with the lights of Thy knowledge. Verily Thou art the One Who ruleth as He pleaseth and Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Wise.

BH08920: The clouds have gathered over the face…

In the Name of God, the One, the Incomparable!

The clouds have gathered over the face of the heaven, and though they may come between the sun and its radiance upon all things, yet they pour forth that which causes the earth to bring forth its burden; soon shall it lay down its load and bring forth its treasures and whatever secrets are stored therein. Though tribulations may intervene between Us and Our loved ones, yet there shall be revealed that which lies hidden therein of its mysteries and the wisdom of its Originator, its Sender, and its Ordainer. Grieve not over what hath befallen Us, but put your trust in God under all conditions. Then stand firm in the Cause, for this is better for you if you look to the end. Praise be to God, the All-Powerful, the Mighty, the Supreme, the King, the Sovereign, the All-Knowing, the Most Exalted. And the Spirit be upon him who stands firm in the love of God.

BH08922: Your letter has come before Us in this Station…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

Your letter has come before Us in this Station where the Mother Book was witnessed from its horizon. We took it with the hand of loving-kindness and read it, then answered you with this Tablet which was inscribed by the Pen of Command.

Say: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! Draw me, by the wondrous melodies of Thy voice, in such wise that I may detach myself from all else but Thee and stand firm in that which Thou hast commanded me in Thy days. O Lord! Make me one who speaks Thy praise and remains steadfast in Thy love. Then send down upon my heart that which will cause to flow from it the Salsabil of Thy remembrance and knowledge, that I may understand what Thou hast revealed in Thy Tablets. O Lord! Deprive me not of the sweetness of Thy remembrance, nor of the knowledge of what Thou hast sent down of the wondrous verses of Thy Tablets. Verily Thou art the Generous, possessed of great bounty. There is no God but Thee, the Forgiving, the Merciful.

BH11842: God desired your departure from the Land of Mystery…

In the name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

God desired your departure from the Land of Mystery lest you hear the great terror in the days when the ungodly seized the gates of the House and the Ancient Beauty departed from it due to what the hands of those who disbelieved in God, the Protector, the Self-Subsisting, had wrought. Do not grieve over what befell you on the path—there befell Us what was far greater than what befell you, and your Lord is witness to what I say. Let not tribulations prevent you from turning to your Lord, the Most High, the Most Glorious. Be steadfast in the Cause and put your trust in God, the Powerful, the Mighty, the Loving. Glorify the praise of your Lord and say:

“O my Lord! Send down upon me that which is best for me. You know what is within my soul while I know not what is within Your Self. Verily You are the Knower of the consequences of all things.”

BH11843: O Dhabih! Forget not the favor of thy Lord…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

O Dhabih! Forget not the favor of thy Lord, and turn not unto tribulation. By My life! Through it My Cause was exalted in the ancient centuries. Verily thy Lord is He Who hath power over whatsoever He willeth. Say: O people! We have accepted abasement for your glory. Fear God, and follow not those who have disbelieved in God, the All-Powerful, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. Grieve not over what hath befallen Us. Be patient until the promise cometh to pass. Then shalt thou see the people turning towards the horizon of My luminous and radiant countenance. Be as I am, in such wise that the oppressors’ might shall not hold thee back from the remembrance of thy Lord. Leave behind what is with the people, then ascend unto My Kingdom that thou mayest behold Me powerful over all who are in the heavens and on earth.

BH09321: These are the verses of God, the King…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious.

These are the verses of God, the King, the Truth, the Manifest. We have sent them down upon one of Our servants that he may remember within himself and be of them that remember. O servant! Forget not the time when thou didst enter the Garden of Paradise and didst sit in the presence of God, the Mighty, the Beautiful, and the Tongue of God spoke with thee openly. By My life! This is indeed a mighty favor. Fear God, O servant, and forget not thy Lord’s favor, for His favor upon thee hath been abundant. Be thou steadfast in the love of thy Lord, then remember Him in thy heart and be thou of them that remember. Thus doth God command thee. Act thou according to that which thou hast been commanded by the Mighty, the Wise.

BH09338: The Spirit hath made mention of His servant…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted

The Spirit hath made mention of His servant in the Tablet, and he was indeed remembered by the Spirit, that He might cause him to be set ablaze with the fire of the Cause in such wise that he may speak forth in praise of his Lord. Thus hath grace been made manifest. Aid ye your Lord through goodly deeds and then through utterance. Thus have ye been commanded by the All-Merciful, Who hath knowledge of all things. They who spread corruption in the land have indeed gone astray and were far removed from the truth. Cast aside the allusions of the people of idle fancies and then take unto God a path. O My loved ones! Be not grieved by the world and its conditions. By God! There hath been ordained for you in the worlds of eternity that which the Pen is powerless to describe, and God is witness to what I say.

BH09595: This is a Tablet from Us to the one…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Exalted

This is a Tablet from Us to the one who acknowledged God on a Day when tongues were stilled, that he may be assured that He loves those who desire Him and remembers those who turned to His countenance when the Promised One appeared and feet stumbled. Say: O people! Test not your Lord God, for He tests whomsoever He wishes. He is verily the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting. Follow what you have been commanded in the Book. Thus does your All-Knowing Lord counsel you. Those who follow their passions and attribute themselves to Us, these are in heedlessness and error. It behooveth those who have turned to God to manifest that which will diffuse the fragrance of holiness among the servants. Blessed is he who is adorned with the attributes of his Lord—he is of those who fulfilled the Covenant on the Day of Separation.

BH09507: Say: Glorified art Thou, O God of earth…

He is the All-Knowing, the All-Informed

Say: Glorified art Thou, O God of earth and heaven! Aid Thy servants to behold with the Supreme Horizon’s gaze, lest the might of fate prevent them from turning to Thy Most Glorious Face. Verily Thou art the Powerful over what Thou willest and the Sovereign over all names. There is no God but Thee, the Omnipotent, the Supreme, the Mighty, the All-Wise. Help ye your Lord, the All-Merciful—soon shall time be rolled up and the Cock of the Throne shall crow upon the branches. Blessed is he who fulfilleth God’s Covenant in days wherein there hath dawned from the horizon of the Bayan the Sun of Wisdom and Exposition, which appeared in His Most Glorious Name in the Kingdom of creation. Thus hath it been ordained by One mighty and great. And praise be to God, the Lord of the Day of Judgment.

BH09375: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

He is the Most Holy

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast made me the Qayyum over all names and the Manifestation of Thy signs between earth and heaven, to make me a servant unto Thyself, one who speaks in Thy remembrance, stands firm in Thy Cause, wields power over Thy servants, and holds sway over those in Thy earth and Thy heaven, that I may remain steadfast in manifesting Thy Cause in such wise that the turning away of Thy servants and the cawing of Thy creatures shall not deter me. Then I beseech Thee, O my God, to make my loved ones branches of this Tree which hath been raised up through Thy command and Thy will. Move them by the winds of Thy will as Thou pleasest. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power over all things. Thou doest what Thou willest and ordainest what Thou pleasest. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the Mighty, the All-Knowing.

BH09383: Exalted art Thou, O Lord my God! I am…

Exalted art Thou, O Lord my God! I am the one who hath forsaken his all and set his face towards the splendors of the glory of Thy countenance, who hath severed every tie and clung to the cord of Thy love and of Thy good-pleasure. I am he, O my God, who hath embraced Thy love and accepted all the adversities which the world can inflict, who hath offered up himself as a ransom for the sake of Thy loved ones, that they may ascend into the heavens of Thy knowledge and be drawn nearer unto Thee, and may soar in the atmosphere of Thy love and Thy good-pleasure.

Ordain, O my God, for me and for them that which Thou didst decree for such of Thy chosen ones as are wholly devoted unto Thee. Cause them, then, to be numbered among those whose eyes Thou hast cleansed and kept from turning to any one save Thee, and whose eyes Thou hast protected from beholding any face except Thy face.

Thou art, verily, the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Glorious, the Supreme King, the Help in Peril, the All-Pardoner, the Ever-Forgiving.

BH09422: God testifies that there is no God but Him…

He is the One speaking from the Throne of Glory.

God testifies that there is no God but Him and that He Who came upon clouds of light with the name of ʿAli is His Manifestation and His sovereignty over all the worlds. He veiled His face for numbered days, then revealed Beauty once again with His Most Glorious Name. Exalted is this grace, the like of which the eyes of creation have never witnessed, and thus was the matter decreed from the right hand of the Throne. Then the ungodly arose in opposition until they denied Him in Whom they had believed, and thus did the hand of separation cast them out from the heaven of mighty glory. And you, remain steadfast in the love of your Lord and do not deprive yourself of the holy breezes.

BH09401: All praise, O my God, be to Thee Who…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Glorious

All praise, O my God, be to Thee Who art the Source of all glory and majesty, of greatness and honor, of sovereignty and dominion, of loftiness and grace, of awe and power. Whomsoever Thou willest Thou causest to draw nigh unto the Most Great Ocean, and on whomsoever Thou desirest Thou conferrest the honor of recognizing Thy Most Ancient Name. Of all who are in heaven and on earth, none can withstand the operation of Thy sovereign Will. From all eternity Thou didst rule the entire creation, and Thou wilt continue for evermore to exercise Thy dominion over all created things. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the All-Powerful, the All-Wise.

Illumine, O Lord, the faces of Thy servants, that they may behold Thee; and cleanse their hearts that they may turn unto the court of Thy heavenly favors, and recognize Him Who is the Manifestation of Thy Self and the Day-Spring of Thine Essence. Verily, Thou art the Lord of all worlds. There is no God but Thee, the Unconstrained, the All-Subduing.

BH09248: O morning breeze! Go forth with thy Lord’s epistle…

In the Name of God, the Most High, the Most Glorious

O morning breeze! Go forth with thy Lord’s epistle to all lands, that hearts may be quickened by the showers of the mercy of their Lord, the Mighty, the Chosen One. Should anyone ask thee of the Glory, say: By God, He lieth beneath the swords of His foes through that which the hands of the wicked have wrought. And should anyone inquire about His station, say: In the most desolate of lands. Should anyone ask about His physical frame, say: In grievous weakness, yet His spirit is in joy and delight through the love of God. Nothing can sadden Him, as witnesseth he whose sight hath been illumined by the light of recognition and who is numbered among the people of fairness. Rejoice thou in God’s remembrance of thee, then rend asunder the veils in the name of thy Lord, Creator of earth and heaven.

BH09619: O my God and my Lord! How can I…

He is the All-Glorious, the Most High

O my God and my Lord! How can I thank Thee for having made me the dayspring of tribulations in Thy path and the dawning-place of trials in my love for Thee and in my pleasure in Thy good-pleasure? By Thy might, O Thou Who art the Well-Beloved of the worlds and the Goal of them that have recognized Thee! The swords cannot prevent me from turning to the face of Thy oneness, nor can the spears hinder me from walking in the paths of Thy transcendent unity. Can the lover find rest after his heart hath been set aflame with the fire of longing in his love for Thee? And can the sincere seeker find repose after the wafting of the fragrance of the robe of Thy mercy hath passed over him? Nay, by Thy might! The winds of hypocrisy cannot hold back the lovers, nor can the might of the horizons restrain them that yearn after Thee. Thus hath the matter been decreed by the Pen of transcendent glory, and praise be unto My Self, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed.

BH09377: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech…

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which the Bayan was sent down in Thy remembrance and praise, that Thou protect me beneath the shadow of the cloud of Thy supreme mercy and the canopy of Thy bounty that hath encompassed all things. Then make me steadfast in this Cause which hath caused the denizens of the Kingdom of Names to tremble. Then give me to drink, at all times, from the pure wine of immortality that I may detach myself wholly from all else but Thee and turn unto Thee.

O Lord! I have no will save what Thou hast willed, and no desire save what Thou hast desired. O Lord! Protect me within the stronghold of Thy protection and shield from all that may prevent me from Thee. Then send down upon me the good of this world and the next. Verily, Thou art the Sovereign of creation, the Originator of all beings, and the Sender of grace. There is none other God but Thee, the Almighty, the Exalted, the All-Merciful….

BH09295: O Karim

In the name of the Best Beloved of the worlds!

O Karim…

I swear by the Sun of the morn of unity that were the loved ones of God to be slain, it would be more acceptable to this Servant than that they should assail any soul. Say: O servants! The Beauty of the All-Merciful hath appeared for the quickening of the world and the unification of its peoples, not for causing division and the shedding of blood….

In any case, protect thy kinsmen from satanic whisperings, for Satan hath appeared in every form and is occupied with sowing doubts….

Say: O servants! The triumph of this Cause hath depended, and will continue to depend, upon the appearance of holy souls, upon the showing forth of goodly deeds, and the revelation of words of consummate wisdom….

BH09573: Your letter was received and its contents noted…

He is God

Your letter was received and its contents noted. In response to the person mentioned, a sublime Tablet was revealed and sent. By God! Were all who are in the heavens and on earth to reflect upon what was revealed therein, it would suffice them, but people remain veiled by veils as vast as the heavens and earths. Your honor should review it and deliver it, but strongly advise him to act with wisdom, lest any word be uttered that might cause harm to others. Additionally, a brief Tablet was written to Kalim—review it and send it. And the glory be upon you and upon him who was named with your name, and verily he is My name, and upon those who are with you among the loved ones of God.

BH09387: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Glorious!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou seest the Desired One of the worlds beneath the swords of the idolaters, and hearest the lamentation of them that yearn for Thee, who have acknowledged Thee and turned towards Thee on the Day of Judgment. I beseech Thee, O Creator of names and Educator of earth and heaven, to give Thy loved ones to drink of that which will make them detached from all else save Thee and steadfast in Thy Cause. O Lord! Open then unto their hearts the gates of Thy bounty that they may behold what Thou hast ordained for them in the Kingdom of Thy might and the realm of Thy grandeur. Then make them, O my God, to abide through Thy perpetuity and to circle round Thy will. O Lord! Withhold not from them that which is with Thee, and grant them Thy nearness and presence. Verily Thou art the One Who hath power over whatsoever Thou pleasest. There is none other God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH09396: O my God! Glory be to Thee! I beseech…

He is the Most Holy, the Most Holy

O my God! Glory be to Thee! I beseech Thee by the Lamp through which all contingent things were illumined, and by Thy sovereignty which hath encompassed all created things, to send down upon Thy male and female servants from the heaven of Thy bounty and the clouds of Thy mercy that which will make them detached from all else save Thee and steadfast in Thy love and good-pleasure. O Lord! Every tongue beareth witness to Thy sovereignty and power. I beseech Thee by Thy Self not to turn away those who have turned towards Thee and have clung to the hem of Thy mercy. Then gather them, O my God, beneath the shade of the Tree of Thy oneness that they may hear with their ears Thy call and that which hath been sent down from the right hand of the throne of Thy grandeur. Thou art, verily, powerful to do what Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the All-Bountiful.

BH09289: Suffer me, O my God, to draw nigh unto…

Suffer me, O my God, to draw nigh unto Thee, and to abide within the precincts of Thy court, for remoteness from Thee hath well-nigh consumed me. Cause me to rest under the shadow of the wings of Thy grace, for the flame of my separation from Thee hath melted my heart within me. Draw me nearer unto the river that is life indeed, for my soul burneth with thirst in its ceaseless search after Thee. My sighs, O my God, proclaim the bitterness of mine anguish, and the tears I shed attest my love for Thee.

I beseech Thee, by the praise wherewith Thou praisest Thyself and the glory wherewith Thou glorifiest Thine own Essence, to grant that we may be numbered among them that have recognized Thee and acknowledged Thy sovereignty in Thy days. Help us then to quaff, O my God, from the fingers of mercy the living waters of Thy loving-kindness, that we may utterly forget all else except Thee, and be occupied only with Thy Self. Powerful art Thou to do what Thou willest. No God is there beside Thee, the Mighty, the Help in Peril, the Self-Subsisting.

Glorified be Thy name, O Thou Who art the King of all Kings!

BH09686: O Gulam! Hearken unto the call of this Youth…

In the Name of God, the Mighty, the Exalted

O Gulam! Hearken unto the call of this Youth. By God, He hath never glorified Himself above any of His servants, yet the people remain wrapped in a mighty veil. Say: O people, behold in Him the grandeur of your Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, and His greatness and His sovereignty, if ye be of them that comprehend. Hearken thou unto My words: Arise to serve the Cause in My Name. Beware lest thou be of the patient ones. Remind the servants with wisdom—thus hath the Sovereign of creation commanded thee—and this is among the greatest of deeds in the sight of thy Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Informed. Turn thy face toward the holy horizon and say:

Praise be to Thee, O my God, for having caused me to turn toward that Quarter from which the lights of Thy face, the Mighty, the Luminous, have shone forth. And glory be upon thee and upon whosoever hath detached himself from the worlds.

BH09242: O Rahim! By God, I have remained alone…

He is God, exalted be His glory, the Power and the Majesty

O Rahim! By God, I have remained alone and solitary, and now I am in the serpent’s mouth, as the Tongue of the All-Merciful bears witness to this, if you be of those who know. In every moment there befalls Me that which causes the faces of those near to God to turn pale, and were I to mention it, the Pen would be unable to move, and God is witness to what I say. Stand firm, therefore, in your love for your Lord in such wise that the whisperings of Satan will not cause you to slip, for he has appeared with the hosts of misbelief, and thus was it inscribed in the tablets of destiny by the executing Pen. Arise to serve the Cause by Our leave, then detach thyself from all the worlds.

BH09236: O Ahmad! God hath accepted thy deeds…

He is the Almighty

O Ahmad! God hath accepted thy deeds and is well-pleased with thee. He shall, in truth, exalt thy name and shall give thee the best of this world and of the world to come. Verily, He is the best Protector and the most excellent Helper. Then make mention from Us to Abdullah who asked about the announcement that was in truth most great. Say unto him: We answered thee in the City of Patience with an answer at which all in the kingdom would be powerless, if thou be of those possessed of knowledge. Then make mention of Ghadir who believed in God, and his rib who was recorded among the devout ones in the Book. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon those who were steadfast in the religion of God.

BH09339: This is the mention of thy Lord’s mercy unto…

He is God, the Most Mighty, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted

This is the mention of thy Lord’s mercy unto His servant, the Merciful, that he may be drawn by the call of his Lord and turn with his heart toward the quarter of mighty unapproachability. O Merciful One! Be merciful unto thyself in these days wherein the traces of mercy have been effaced from the hearts of most of the servants, who have arisen in manifest tyranny, to such extent that they have severed the head of faithfulness with the sword of hatred, and have thereby debarred themselves from the shore of ancient glory. Verily, thy mercy toward thyself is thy steadfastness in the love of thy Lord and thy firmness in this Cause, at which every base idolater hath been shaken. And the glory be upon thee and upon him who hath believed in God and then remembereth Him at morn and eventide.

BH09195: If the devil hath not waylaid thee, then…

He is God, the True, the Beloved!

If the devil hath not waylaid thee, then by God’s leave mayest thou be joyous and glad from the divine springtime.

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is the garment of glory which Thou hast sent to the city of Thy oneness, and this is the wondrous Book which Thou hast brought forth through the sovereign power of Thy grace, and this is the light of majesty which Thou hast caused to shine forth from the horizon of Thine essence, and this is the camphor tree which Thou hast planted in the meadows of Thy mercy, and this is the trumpet of the Cause into which Thou hast breathed Thy spirit and sent unto those who love Thee. Glorified art Thou, O my God! Perfect then Thy favor upon Thy loved ones through the manifestations of Thy glory, for verily Thou art the All-Powerful, the Self-Subsisting.

Convey My greetings to the companions, that is, your mothers.

BH09705: O Thou Who hearest the cry of the lovers…

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

O Thou Who hearest the cry of the lovers from all horizons, and the wailing of the yearning ones from all regions, and the lamentation of those who have lost Thee from all lands, and Who seeth what hath befallen each one of them in Thy path—that which never befell Thy chosen ones, how much less Thy creation! Though I know, O my God, that Thou wert with Thy loved ones from all eternity and wilt be with them through Thy sovereignty and majesty, and that what hath befallen them from Thy enemies shall be their recompense with Thee, nevertheless I beseech Thee by Thy Name, the Avenger, to send down upon some of Thy enemies that which shall cause their souls to tremble in this world and in the next. Ordain for them all a grievous punishment. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Powerful.

BH09240: O Tanbal-Bashi! Hearken unto the call of Him Who…

He is the Almighty

O Tanbal-Bashi! Hearken unto the call of Him Who loveth thee and remembereth thee at this moment. Know thou that We have remembered thee in places of mighty and impregnable glory. Beware lest thou be saddened by worldly affairs, and be thou of the patient ones. God will soon reward thee with the best of rewards and will fully recompense the patient ones.

He is the Almighty

O Shaykhu’l-Arvah! Verily We have not forgotten thee; therefore rejoice within thyself and be of the patient ones. Then ask of God whatsoever thou desirest. He will verily grant it unto thee in truth, and He hath power over all things. Then convey Our greetings unto thy mother, that she may be gladdened in her soul and be of the devout ones.

BH09416: God testifieth that there is none other God but…

He is the Mighty!

God testifieth that there is none other God but Him. His is the power and the eternality, His is the grandeur and the glory, and His is the dominion and transcendence. He giveth life and causeth death, then causeth death and giveth life, and verily He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. He is indeed the Sovereign, the Omnipotent, the Almighty. He doeth what He willeth in His dominion through His power, and ordaineth what He pleaseth through His command. He is indeed the Ruler, the Omnipotent, the Mighty, the Generous. Say: O my God! Thou art the Sovereign of eternity and the King of glory and light in the Most Glorious Horizon, and of manifestation in the heaven of mystery. Thou createst what Thou willest through Thy power and ordainest what Thou desirest through Thy will. Verily Thou art the King, the Transcendent, the Mighty, the Peerless, the Triumphant, the Omnipotent, the All-Sufficient, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.

BH09464: Thy letter was presented by the servant who attained…

In the name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted

Thy letter was presented by the servant who attained Our presence…

O Zayn! We praise God for having sanctified thee from the evil of the idolaters…

Joy be unto thee for having kissed the dust of the City, beheld its walls and traces, and walked upon ground that was honored by the footsteps of thy Lord, the Mighty, the Powerful, the Omnipotent. Would that thou hadst brought me a handful of its earth! By My life! It would be dearer to Me than all that hath been created on earth. My heart soars with longing for it at the mere mention of its name—how much more to behold it and arrive therein! Blessed art thou and blessed are We, but woe unto the idolaters who have come between Us and it, and have caused Us to be deprived of the City of God, the Mighty, the Most High, the Most Great….

This deed of thine shines forth among thy works like the sun among the stars, or the beauty of the Beloved in the gathering of lovers, or the radiance of the Beloved’s countenance among the concourse of loved ones. At the moment thou didst achieve this deed, thou didst achieve all deeds, for all deeds are dependent upon His command and leave….

Say: O my God! I beseech Thee by the manifestation of Thy Name, the Qayyum after the Qa’im, that Thou separate me not from Thee, neither in this world nor in the world to come. Verily, Thou art the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.

BH09186: The vicissitudes of time, which have appeared through God’s…

He is the Mighty!

The vicissitudes of time, which have appeared through God’s irrevocable decrees, have separated companions who shared the same nest, and what beloved ones have been separated from their Beloved, and what lovers have been consumed in separation from their Loved One! The fire of love for Layli blazed forth and effaced from existence the maddened and infatuated souls. In brief, heavenly destiny did not grant enough time for us to gather in an assembly or meet together in a dwelling. From exile to fresh exile were we subjected, and from separation to boundless separation were we caught. In any case, we are thankful—you too must be thankful. And peace be upon you.

BH09223: Hearken, O servant, to that which the Spirit imparts…

He is God, who has encompassed the worlds.

Hearken, O servant, to that which the Spirit imparts to thee, then follow what thou hast been commanded, that thou mayest be numbered among those who are near unto God and mentioned in His tablets in truth. Beware lest thou associate any partners with God thy Lord, and do good unto others even as God hath done good unto thee, and be among the people a trustworthy one in truth. Then remember thy Lord throughout all days, for through His remembrance light illumineth the hearts of the righteous and cleanseth them from a hidden association. Thus have We commanded thee that thou mayest act accordingly and be possessed of insight in the Cause. And whoso is adorned with that which We have commanded him, God will raise him up on the Day of Resurrection in the most beauteous form, and God is verily witness unto this.

BH09376: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Name through which Thou hast adorned the heaven of inner meanings with the stars of utterance, through which the seas have surged and the trees have yielded their fruit and faces have been illumined, to draw me nigh unto Thee and to make me detached from all else save Thee. O Lord! Thou art He to Whose grace and bounty all created things have testified, and to Whose favor and loving-kindness all atoms bear witness. My God! I am one of Thy handmaidens who hath desired the wondrous gifts of Thy bounty and hath stood before the tabernacle of Thy glory. I beseech Thee by Thy Self to send down upon me that which Thou hast ordained for me in the Tablet of Thy decree by the Pen of Thy destiny. Then cause me to drink, at all times, from the Kawthar of Thy love by the hands of Thy mercy. There is no God but Thee, the King, the Munificent, the Mighty, the Loving.

BH09379: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

He is the Self-Subsisting

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy greatness and Thy majesty, then by Thy loftiness and Thy glory, to protect Thy servant into whose hands Thou hast committed the reins of affairs which are attributed to Thee and to Thy Manifestation. Then send down upon him, O my God, that which will preserve his soul and illumine his countenance, and ordain for him what Thou hast ordained for them that are sincere among Thy loved ones. Then cause him to voice Thy praise amongst Thy servants. O Lord! Bestow upon me and upon them that love me that which will draw us nigh unto Thee and remove us far from all else except Thee. Then send down upon me and upon them that which will prevent the harm of those among Thy servants who have forgotten Thy remembrance, denied Thy signs, and turned away from Thy beauty. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power to do what Thou pleasest, and Thou art the Mighty, the Most Exalted.

BH09386: Lauded be Thy name, O Lord my God! Thou…

Lauded be Thy name, O Lord my God! Thou seest how Thy servants have everywhere been compassed with tribulations, how their adversaries have all risen up against them and grievously wronged them. Thy glory beareth me witness! Were all the wicked doers of the earth to band themselves against us, and to cast us into a fire such as no man hath kindled, they would be powerless to distract our gaze from the horizon of Thy name, the Most Exalted, the Most High, and would fail to turn aside our hearts from the seat of Thine effulgent glory.

I swear by Thy might! The arrows that transfix us in Thy path are the ornaments of our temples, and the spears which pierce us in our love for Thee are as silk unto our bodies. By the glory of Thy might! Nothing whatsoever can beseem Thy servants except what the pen of Thine irrevocable decree hath traced in this priceless and exalted Tablet.

All praise be to Thy Self at all times and under all conditions. Thou art, verily, the God of knowledge and wisdom.

BH09388: Glorified art Thou, O my God! The eyes…

He is the Self-Subsisting, Who hath no peer!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! The eyes of them that are nigh unto Thee have wept in their separation from Thee, and the cry of them that are devoted to Thee hath risen in their yearning for Thee. There remaineth not a city but that there hath been raised therein the lamentation of longing and the cry of separation. At all times hast Thou been a witness unto them, observant of them, and hearing that which proceedeth from their lips. I beseech Thee by Thy Most Great Name to so attract their hearts that the arrows of the enemies and the spears of the wicked ones shall not affect them, nor shall the breezes of destiny overturn them. Then open before their faces the portals of glory in this world and the next. Verily, Thou doest what Thou willest, and Thou art the Most Exalted, the Most High.

BH09390: Glory be unto Thee, O my God! This…

In the Name of God, the Ancient, the Ever-Abiding!

Glory be unto Thee, O my God! This is Thy servant whom Thou hast called unto Thy most exalted Self, and who responded with “yea” and soared in the atmosphere of yearning and longing in Thy love and good-pleasure until he drank the choice sealed wine from the hands of Thy bounty. I beseech Thee, O God of all who are in earth and heaven and Who gazest upon the horizon of Thy Most Glorious Name, to preserve him through Thy protection and safekeeping from the arrows of Thine enemies. Make him, moreover, so devoted to Thyself that neither the manifestations of trials nor the vicissitudes of destiny shall turn him aside from steadfastness in Thy Cause. Illumine his countenance in this world and the next with the lights of Thy face. Verily, Thou art the One Who hath power to do what Thou willest. There is none other God but Thee, the Best-Beloved in the heart of Baha.

BH09395: The All-Glorious, The Most Holy

The All-Glorious, The Most Holy

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by the lights of Thy countenance, the manifestations of Thy sovereignty, and the revelations of Thy grandeur and power, to send down upon them that are sincere among Thy loved ones that which shall deliver them from self and passion and cause them to become purely devoted to Thy most luminous countenance. O Lord! Many years have passed wherein there hath befallen both young and old that which hath caused the dwellers of the pavilion of Thy chastity to lament. O Lord! Aid Thy loved ones through Thy sovereignty, and make them victorious over Thine enemies who have denied Thy signs and who have waged war against the Manifestation of Thy Self and the Dayspring of Thine Essence. Verily Thou art the All-Powerful. Nothing can withstand Thy might nor can any matter resist Thy decree. There is no God but Thee, the All-Knowing, the Almighty, the All-Powerful.

BH09397: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest…

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest that in my love for Thee I have not sought any rest, that in proclaiming Thy Cause I have denied myself every manner of tranquillity, and that in the observance of whatever Thou hast prescribed in Thy Tablets I have not delayed to do Thy bidding. I have, for this reason, suffered what no man among all the inhabitants of Thy realm hath suffered.

Thy glory beareth me witness! Nothing whatsoever can withhold me from remembering Thee, though all the tribulations of the earth were to assault me from every direction. All the limbs and members of my body proclaim their readiness to be torn asunder in Thy path and for the sake of Thy pleasure, and they yearn to be scattered in the dust before Thee. O would that they who serve Thee could taste what I have tasted of the sweetness of Thy love!

I implore Thee to supply whosoever hath sought Thee with the living waters of Thy bounty, that they may rid him of all attachment to any one but Thee. Thou art, verily, the Omniscient, the All-Glorious, the Almighty.

BH09402: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…

In the Name of God, the Eternal, Who perisheth not!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant who hath turned unto Thee and hath turned away from all else beside Thee, and hath soared in the atmosphere of his longing for Thee, and hath attained unto Thy love, and hath sought the path of Thy good-pleasure, and hath spoken forth Thy praise, and hath uttered Thy remembrance, and hath been set aflame by the fire which Thou didst kindle in Thy kingdom, and hath been illumined by the lamp which Thou didst make the luminary of Thy Cause.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by Thy Name round which circle all names, and by him who hath been afflicted in Thy path amidst the enemies, that Thou aid him through the wonders of Thy succour and leave him not to himself, through Thy bounty and Thy favors. Make him, then, one who circleth round Thee in the realms of Thy sanctification and the cities of Thy detachment and the kingdom of Thy might and the dominion of Thy power.

Thou, verily, art the Almighty, the Glorious, the All-Knowing.

BH09409: Glorified art Thou, O Thou in Whose grasp…

He is the Healer!

Glorified art Thou, O Thou in Whose grasp is the healing of all mankind, and by Whose will is the life of all mankind, and by Whose purpose is the destiny of all mankind. I beseech Thee not to disappoint those who hope, even should all mankind do so. Thou seest, O my God, this sick one who hath sought healing from the ocean of Thy healing, and Thou knowest, O my God, that I do not wish to offer prayer lest it be confused with what the divines practice. Therefore, O my God, do Thou give her to drink from the Kawthar of Thy healing with all speed, for her cries have risen to heaven. O Thou Who removest all ills! Thou knowest that her patience is less than can be counted, and verily Thou doest what Thou willest. Deal with her as befitteth Thee, for Thou art the Generous, the Healer.

BH09441: Glorified be He Who created all things by His…

In the Name of the Mighty, the Luminous!

Glorified be He Who created all things by His command and ordained the measures of every matter in a Preserved Tablet of might, and established therein the laws of the Cause through the tongue of the Messengers aforetime—and this is a known truth—and commanded them in the Book with that which would draw them near to a most praiseworthy sanctuary of holiness, and forbade them from all that would veil them from the beauty of God, the Mighty, the Supreme, the Self-Subsisting. Therefore, O people of the Bayan, forsake all that ye have been forbidden and then act according to that which ye have been commanded in a preserved Book of might from the Pen of the Beloved of might—this is better for you than all that ye hear. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon those who turn towards the Beauty of Holiness.

BH09442: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee…

He is the Preserver

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I beseech Thee by Thy Beauty that shineth forth in the dominion of grandeur, and by Thy Light that appeareth in the kingdom of eternity, and by Thy Most Exalted Name, to preserve this one who hath believed in Thee and in Thy mighty signs. Aid him, then, with Thy succor, and make firm, O my God, his footsteps upon this […] through Thy power, and teach him through Thy sovereignty, and cause him to enter into the shelter of Thy mercy beneath the shadow of Thy countenance. Then preserve him, O my God, in the depths of the seas and their waves and their billows, for Thou, verily, hast power over all things.

[In the phrase “…make firm, O my God, his footsteps upon this through Thy power…” there is a gap between the word “this” and “through Thy power” in the copied manuscript and no other manuscript is available]

BH09443: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant whom Thou hast related unto me, and whom Thou hast made a remnant of the house of David, left by me in Thy land at the time when they cast us forth from Thy habitations. Thou knowest—though I cannot reckon—who hath reared him, who hath sheltered him, and who hath kept him company and been his companion.

I beseech Thee by Thy mighty loving-kindness and by Thy prevailing sovereignty to cause to befall him that which Thou lovest and approvest. Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.

By Thy might, O my God! My love for him hath imprisoned him in Thy path and subjected him to trial in Thy Cause. Aid him, then, O my God; protect him; and raise him unto the stations of Thy holiness, that he may dwell in the neighbourhood of Thy mercy and beneath the shadow of Thy loving care.

Thou art, verily, God—the Mighty, the All-Powerful, the All-Compelling.

BH09445: Glorified art Thou, O my God! I call upon…

He is the Most Generous.

Glorified art Thou, O my God! I call upon Thee at the time when I journey toward Thee, by reason of that which the hands of the hypocrites have wrought. I thank Thee for this, and for all that hath befallen us from the heights of Thine own Self. Verily, Thou art the All-Informed of all things.

I beseech Thee, O my God, by this exile which hath overtaken us in Thy path, and which hath caused tears to flow from the eyes of Thine chosen ones, to bestow upon this handmaid that which shall suffice her above all else but Thee. Then make her steadfast, O my God, in Thy love—for this is better for her than all who are in Thy heaven and on Thy earth. Then grant her patience in separation and bereavement, and preserve her, O my God, from every affliction and calamity.

Verily, Thou art powerful over all things.

BH09446: Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy…

He is the Mighty!

Glorified art Thou, O my God! This is Thy servant who, when the fragrances of the holy breeze of Thy Sovereign Oneness wafted forth, sought intercession through the Manifestations of the glory of Thy Lordship, and fled from himself and from all else save Thee unto the wondrous grace of the King of Thy forgiveness. He claimeth to have turned away from self and passion unto Thy most glorious, most gracious and most enduring realms, and from his own will unto Thy will, and from his good pleasure unto Thy good pleasure. Therefore, send down upon him that which will preserve him from all that would keep him from the shore of Thy submission and Thy command. Then send upon him that which will purify his heart from the remembrance of aught else besides Thee, that he may become pure in Thy love, sincere in his devotion to Thee, and obedient to Thy decree. Verily Thou art the Mighty, the Forgiving. Verily Thou art the Generous, the Kind.

BH09469: The eye of this Youth hath beheld what no…

In the Name of God, the Self-Subsisting, the Everlasting!

The eye of this Youth hath beheld what no eye hath beheld from time immemorial. His ear hath heard what no ear of the Prophets and Messengers hath heard. Hast thou ever heard of kings gathering together to destroy a single soul? By thy Lord! Were thou to be of them that are assured, I declare that were all who are in the heavens and on earth to gather together to destroy and eliminate Me, yet would I proclaim at all times that I am the Beauty of God unto all who are in the heavens and on earth. The clamor of those on earth who have turned away is to Me but as the buzzing of flies or the braying of donkeys. Erelong will this Youth come forth adorned with the ornament of God, the Sovereign, the Mighty, the Great.

BH09495: The Ancient Beauty hath departed from the Land…

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

The Ancient Beauty hath departed from the Land of Mystery, even as was decreed in the Tablet, if ye be of them that understand. And when He departed, the horizons were illumined by His countenance. How wondrous is this fragrance that hath been wafted among the worlds! By My life! The breaths of the verses have encompassed all created things, and they have been sent down at all times from the presence of the All-Merciful. Blessed is the soul that hath inhaled them and circled round them! Were the peoples of the East and West to purify their ears, they would hear them, and thy Lord is verily a witness unto what I say. This bounty is not confined to anyone, but hath encompassed all worlds. Blessed is he who hath turned unto Him, and woe betide them that have turned aside! And praise be to God, the Lord of the worlds.

BH09514: Say: O loved ones of God! Be steadfast…

In the Name of God, the Most Ancient, Who has no beginning!

Say: O loved ones of God! Be steadfast in His Cause and His love in such wise that neither calamities can make you waver nor anything created in the world can overcome you. It behooveth every one possessed of certitude to stand firm in the Cause under all conditions, in such manner that should all the dwellers of the earth oppose him, he would arise alone and continue to summon all men unto God, the Lord of all names, neither would the vain imaginings of the servants disturb him nor the opinions of those in the lands weaken him. Grieve not over what hath befallen Us. Under all circumstances place your trust in God, the Almighty, the All-Glorious, the Most High, and soar on the wings of certitude in the atmosphere of the mercy of your Lord, the All-Merciful, and be not of them that hesitate.

BH09563: I know not, O my God, how I should…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

I know not, O my God, how I should conduct myself amidst Thy servants. Whenever I remind them of the wonders of Thy remembrance, they rise up against me. Whenever I manifest among them the revelations of Thy sovereignty and might, they gather against me with swords of hatred. Whenever I expound to them the mysteries of Thy knowledge and the gems of Thy wisdom, they say “We find not this in the books of our forefathers.” And whenever I seek to illuminate them with the lights of Thy countenance to deliver them from the darkness of their own selves, they flee and conspire to slay me. How long, O my God, wilt Thou forbear them in Thy land? Seize them through Thy power, might, wrath and vengeance. Then send down upon the hearts of Thy loved ones that which will purify them from all else but Thee and cause them to speak Thy praise, that Thy remembrance may be spread through them amongst Thy servants. Verily, Thou art the Almighty, the Most Exalted, the Most Great.

BH09583: This is Thy servant whom the winds…

In the Name of God, the Most Unapproachable, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted, the Most Glorious!

This is Thy servant whom the winds of the mercy of Thy name, the All-Merciful, have stirred, and whom Thou hast delivered from the hosts of Satan, and whom the hands of Thy power have taken until Thou didst cause him to enter the stronghold of faith. O my God! Since Thou hast kindled within his heart the lamp of Thy love, do Thou protect him from the winds of tests, and since Thou hast aided him to remember and praise Thee amongst the peoples of the worlds, do Thou preserve him from the whisperings of the followers of religions. O my God! Since Thou hast clothed him with the robe of Thy loving-kindness, do not remove it from him through Thy grace. Then cause him, O my God, in all conditions to gaze upon Thy countenance, to move according to Thy will, to turn toward the Kaaba of Thy sanctification and the sanctuary of Thy detachment. Then bestow upon him that which Thou hast ordained for Thy near servants. Verily, Thou art the All-Forgiving, the All-Merciful.

BH09591: This is a book from this poor, lowly, penitent…

He is the Mighty, the Self-Subsisting

This is a book from this poor, lowly, penitent one at the time when he journeyed from his self unto God, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy, addressed to those who have believed in God on the day whereon the heavens and earths were created, and who call all to God and bid them observe that which hath been sent down in the Book from the presence of One Who is wise and informed. O servant! Hearken unto My call in truth and be not of the heedless ones. Remember thy Lord at all times, then glorify Him in the morning and in the evening. Grieve not over anything but place thy trust in God, the Mighty, the Exalted. Verily He will protect thee in truth from those who have disbelieved and joined partners with God, the Powerful, the Mighty, the Generous. And the Spirit be upon thee and upon the sincere ones.

BH09605: O My loved ones! Look not upon the sedition…

In the Name of God, the Most Holy, the Most Exalted!

O My loved ones! Look not upon the sedition and its darkness, but rather gaze upon the Sun from which nothing has withheld It, and be illumined by Its lights from this Quarter unto which the hearts of those near unto God have been attracted. The Dove warbleth, and nothing between earth and heaven preventeth It from the remembrance of Its Lord, even were It to be caught in the claws of the oppressors. The Youth counseleth you to remain steadfast in the Cause of God in such wise that the happenings of the days will not cause you to waver, nor will the turning away of the deniers prevent you. Aid your Lord, the All-Merciful, at all times. Verily He is with you, and He hath power over all things. And praise be to God, the Lord of the heavens and the Lord of the earth and the Lord of the mighty Throne!

BH09704: O God! The trials Thou sendest are a salve…

O God! The trials Thou sendest are a salve to the sores of all them who are devoted to Thy will; the remembrance of Thee is a healing medicine to the hearts of such as have drawn nigh unto Thy court; nearness to Thee is the true life of them who are Thy lovers; Thy presence is the ardent desire of such as yearn to behold Thy face; remoteness from Thee is a torment to those that have acknowledged Thy oneness, and separation from OAThee is death unto tThee is death unto them that have recognized Thy truth!

I beseech Thee by the sighs which they whose souls pant after Thee have uttered in their remoteness from Thy court, and by the cries of such of Thy lovers as bemoan their separation from Thee, to nourish me with the wine of Thy knowledge and the living waters of Thy love and pleasure. Behold Thy handmaiden, O my Lord, who hath forgotten all else except Thee, and who hath delighted herself with Thy love, and lamented over the things that have befallen Thee at the hands of the wicked doers among Thy creatures. Do Thou ordain for her that which Thou didst ordain for such of Thy handmaidens as circle round the throne of Thy majesty, and gaze, at eventide and at dawn, on Thy beauty.

Thou art, verily, the Lord of the Judgment Day.

BH11849: O My handmaiden! Hearken unto My call…

He is the Most Manifest

O My handmaiden! Hearken unto My call from the direction of My throne, then soar in the atmosphere of My companionship and journey through the realms of My nearness. Then drink from the cup of My favor, then speak forth My praise and be silent regarding the mention of aught else. Then arise from the horizon of holiness adorned with My ornament, My majesty and My light. Then sing with My melody among My handmaidens that they may know the pathways of My Cause and the pavilion of My holiness. By God! Verily My fragrances guide those who are brought near and My handmaidens to the garden of My companionship and the Kawthar of My grace and generosity. And the sweet-scented perfume of My garment guides the yearning ones to the Egypt of My beauty. Then remember, O My handmaiden, My tribulations, then weep for My sorrow and My exile and My trials. And the Glory be upon thee and upon My handmaidens.

BH09871: Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest…

In His Name, the Qayyum upon the Qa’im

Glorified art Thou, O my God! Thou knowest that amidst these afflictions, the Baha doth not desire ease. Rather, His hope at all times is whatsoever Thou hast ordained for Him, O Thou in Whose hand is the dominion of grace and beneficence. I beseech Thee to send down from the heaven of Thy loving-kindness upon Thy loved ones that which will renew them in Thy love, cause them to speak Thy praise, and preserve them from whatsoever is repugnant to Thy good-pleasure, that they may gather together to remember Thee among Thy creatures. O Lord! Sanctify them from all that befitteth not Thy Cause. Verily, Thou art their Protector in this world and the next. There is none other God but Thee, the Mighty, the Beautiful.

BH09824: The remembrance of God from the Sacred Tree upon…

He is the Powerful in the Heaven of Eternity.

The remembrance of God from the Sacred Tree upon the spot of Paradise is unto him who was witnessed upon the Truth—Mirza Baqir of Qa’in. Soon shall the heaven be cleft asunder and the Youth shall come upon the crimson Buraq, and the matter shall be determined by One mighty and powerful. Then shalt thou find the idolaters fleeing to the right and to the left. Say: Today there is no escape for anyone save he who has detached himself from all who are in the heavens and the earth and has taken shelter beneath a shade that hath been extended from all eternity. Thus do We inspire thee that thou mayest be steadfast in the Cause and turn unto the Sanctuary which hath been raised up from the direction of the Throne.

BH09752: The Most Holy, Most Exalted

The Most Holy, Most Exalted

Verily, the All-Possessing One addresses thee, O ʿAbdu’l-Ghani, saying: This is the Day of Divine Riches, wherein everyone that is poor and distressed shall be enriched, should He so desire. He verily can make all to be wealthy through but a word from His presence. He is, in truth, the All-Compelling, the Mighty, the All-Powerful. Say: The highest form of wealth is your faith in God—whoso hath not attained unto this is indeed the poorest of the poor in the sight of the Lord of all cycles. Blessed is he who hath attained unto the knowledge of his Lord—We testify that he is among the wealthiest of all creation. Soon shall he behold that which hath flowed from the Pen of his Lord, the Mighty, the All-Seeing. Glorify thy Lord with praise, then remember Him in private and in public.

BH09764: Hs is the Most Wondrous, the Most Glorious

Hs is the Most Wondrous, the Most Glorious

O Muhammad-Husayn! The tribulations have returned and Husayn has been afflicted among the wolves. Every day there befalls him that which hath befallen no one before. To this beareth witness whosoever hath observed all things with the eye of fairness. From the horizon of tribulation, We summon the servants unto the Mighty, the Bestower. Make mention of My tribulations amongst My servants. Say: O people! He hath sacrificed himself in the path of God. Fear ye, O people of corruption! He commandeth you to righteousness and piety, and forbiddeth you from that which would render your deeds null and void. Verily, he that followeth his idle fancies hath no protector this Day.
